Been coming here for the longest time. They are always full. We are group of 5 adults and 4 children. Our table was booked for 6pm. Tonight wasnt that great, service wise. They didnt have enough cutlery on the table, they only serve us with one water jug and they brought out our nachos and garlic bread with no side plates. The kiddy meal, (mini hot dog) is a no. I recommend the prawns. A restaurant as busy as this should have more staff. It's not wheel chair friendly, you maybe able to get a baby buggy in but it's very tight. Parking is not a problem.

Delicious meal. For what I ordered perfectly. 6hrs later im still not hungry. Well worth the cost. Waiter was awesome too. Kids felts n colouring pencils weren't so run down she couldn't really colour. They could do with new ones. very warm inside. Doors could be opened but no dramas otherwise.

Went on an impromptu date here, and weren't disappointed. The service was fantastic and the food was even better. I got the chicken burrito and the pico de gallo was the best I've had in a long time (since moving to New Zealand).

Super busy but our food came out pretty quickly and so did our drinks. Our waitress was lovely. The BB King Ribs were divine! We were all very happy with our food and drinks. Finished off with tea and dessert which also came out pretty quickly.

The ambiance is a little on the dark side, customer service is a little slow, very over crowded, and the polished floors are very unsafe for the wooden chairs they use for guest. While we were dining a number of children and adults from diffrent groups kept toppling off their chairs due to the chairs sliding out all of the time. Other than that some of the rest of the families meals were nice. But they shouldn't be priding themselves of bulk reheats of their dishes the mash potato was very dry and bland, the ribs and meat dishes were dry. Service took a long time to be served, however this was my first time in seven years going to Lone Star so it could have been a very busy night.

My friend who has never been to her local Lonestar was very impressed this evening. We enjoyed our generous portions of Running Bear Salmon and Rockin' Ribeye Steak accompanied by a nicely chilled Main Divide riesling. Rashil was a pleasant and attentive waiter. A definite recommendation!

Average food for above average prices. Felt sorry for the wait staff, I think they were understaffed as they were flat out the time we were there and a few mistakes were made. Missing entrees and drink orders, not enough cutlery etc and wrong food delivered. Colouring paper handed out but no colouring pencils, which is probably due to covid.

Love this place, we had our nephew 21st here... And I knew where to bring my boo for his 43rd birthday on 26th July and we had the ribeye meal with lonestar banana split with apple juice and I had stand by your lamb meal with creme brulee and demolished that... Washed it down with pineapple juice and will return with our daughters...

Welcoming greeting on arrival, prompt service. Staff checked on how the meal was. Entree of chicken, shame it wasn't cooked to order, otherwise delicious seasoned sauce, arrived nice and hot. However, I understand the need to pre-prepare some of the food. Main of roast duck a little dry, thankfully accompanied with a yum sauce to provide moisture. Overall enjoyed the atmosphere, great service, and good food.

We were about to ignore lone star due to some others experience of it, but after our beautiful night we spent there to celebrate our 2 years anniversary we were over the moon, and were delighted with the service from staff especially the food. Wow!! Only if i knew that they have those large plates of food i wouldn't have spent that much for 3 plates. But overall everything was just perfect. Thank you all for the beautiful night. Amazing place to visit, always have great food there. We ended up getting a steak option, medium rare, and it was possibly one of the nicest meals I've had in a long time. The atmosphere was light and homey, and the staff made sure we were served well. We were served by a very nice guy here who stopped in the middle of his work to serve us. Very polite and super nice, loved the nails too lol The only this I would note is that you should really book ahead of time before coming as it does get quite crowded in the weekend. Other than that, I would definitely recommend going here😊

Great food, good atmosphere and service. The place was packed and the staff did a great job, they even hooked up a coloring sheet & felts for my 4yo nephew. Only gripe is that one of my drinks tasted like it was 90% ice and 10% mixer. Good restaurant, would visit again.

Came for a work function for group of 8 on Saturday night. Was very good I had the ribs and garlic bread to start with which was awesome, ribs were amazing highly recommend and entree is the size of a main then had the lamb with mashed potatoes which was great with awesome flavour and side greens followed by banoffee pie. Friendly, quick attentive service staff and all meals came out at the right time and together. Restaurant was busy but not to loud and was nice and warm with fireplace on a cold winter's day. Clean bathrooms and plenty of off street parking. Only one thing to work on and that was having enough cutulury and napkins so you don't have to ask but apart from that can see why so popular, yes prices may be on the high side for some but portions are big and good value and quality meat. Thanks again to the chef and friendly waitresses!

Staff were fantastic. Went with my aged parents who have some significant difficulties in dining out. The staff accommodated everything including changing menu choices, special options, changing tables etc. Nothing was too difficult. The food was amazing. Both parents loved their salmon and honky tonk chicken choices and my ribs entre was huge. A meal on its own. Nice wine selection also.

Lone Star Manukau - I love coming here for the desserts! These are my fave creme brulee and the milky bar pud. Yum! We used to come for the squid but they changed how they make them and they don't taste the same. Regular meals are ok bit pricey bit large meals. Service is good.

Seated us very quickly. We had no booking on a Saturday night and they were pumping, but still fit us in, thank you so much! Staff great, food great as always. Carpark is a bit of a mare on a Saturday night but it's the same everywhere! Thanks for great night after 2 local restaurants couldn't pull it off and get us a table. ❤

Had our mums 70th surprise bday there on a Friday evening,good seating area we were placed at.The waitresses were very accommodating and polite with smiles,tended to all our request and needs.Servings were good portions for price,just way to much coleslaw on the dixie chicken meal which i had. Deserts were ok, not alot of selections . On the sweet side with not many accompaniments to break sweetness down with main desert like cheese cake. A dollop of cream doesn't cut it but ok to eat because you can't waste food or money paying for the meal.

I've been here many times and more recently I've been trying all their chicken dishes which have all been amazing. Today I went back to the Lasso of Hogg, a meal that always used to beat me but today it seemed easier to finish. 400g of roast pork with crackling but it didn't seem that big and the crackling wasn't very noticeable, still a good size meal and the ladies serving were friendly and helpful. I'd still highly recommend going here and I'll definitely go back again. Overall a great place and pretty fair prices.

Delicious! 3 of us went, we got the ribs, the steak, the loaf and the chicken nibbles, and fries. It was all done very well, heaps of meat on the ribs, coated with sauce, and the fries were well cooked too! Service was good, had an attentive waiter who explained all the deals and competitions going on. Good parking here too. Only downside is that it is a 'family' restaurant, so there were 3 children running around and climbing all over the furniture - though this is no fault of the restaurant. Would definitely go back.

Back from the UK for a visit. My friends and I thought we would drop into Lone Star as we always got great service and tasty ribs. We were not disappointed. Super friendly and if he should read that thank you so much for that amazingly generous gentleman that paid a part of our bill on the 12.03.2020. We sadly got told only after he left and did not get any chance to thank him for that.

Really enjoyed our time here, wait staff were all very helpful, though it was evident they were very busy. I ordered a Salmon dish and I, along with the others who ordered the same were very pleased with our meals, in all cases, the plate was fully consumed. I couldn't help but notice that most people in our group who ordered a steak meal did not eat their salad. I had a plate with a half eaten steak packed into a "doggie bag" which turned out to be a nice carton and tried it the following night. It's OK, I saw the person who ordered it cut it in half and put it to the side, so it was not goobered up and like the others, most all of the salad was untouched. When I tasted it the next day, I found the salad to have an overpowering flavour of radish through it and most people I know don't include radish in their salads. The steak was what I would call supermarket quality, too much gristle and stringy tissue through it, though cooked well. One last issue, I found the recessed lights in the place where we sat to have a nasty stroboscopic effect that was so evident that when someone moved their hand to pass the salt, I saw about 30 stop movements in a single action. This is something that needs to be addressed because there is a form of epilepsy that can be triggered by lights that have a stroboscopic flashing. It was so intense, I couldn't wait to get out of there and it gave me a headache that lasted the best part of the 20 or so hours. We sat in the bay with windows facing the Manukau Heights across the Southern Motorway. I originally gave it 5 stars, but that was in a moving car so it was a slip of the finger. I was at a point where I couldn't bear to look at a screen for the sake of the rapidly intensifying headache caused by the lighting, so I had to let it slide till I could correct it.

You always know what you're going to get at Lone Star. Good quality food and plenty of it. Attentive service and acceptable wait times for food and drink to arrive. It's important to note that Lone Star runs on a purely 'walk-in' system and you can't book in advance. Having said that they're usually fairly well patronised and I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes to get a table.

Random decision to pop in for dinner a couple of weeks ago and was served by the manager. He recommended a dish, so I ordered it. Our drinks were readily served, our meals arrived hot and fresh, and the manager was right..... his recommendation was absolutely delicious. Dessert was fantastic too!! I called in tonight to purchase some of that FANTASTIC coleslaw dressing to have with our dinner at home...and OMG.... SPECTACULAR!! Lone Star Manukau is definitely a fave!! I went to dinner at the Lone Star last night with my niece and her flatmate. The special was baby back ribs with buffalo fries and coleslaw. We all had the ribs and they were just so tasty! The meat fell off the bones and was so melt in your mouth tender we barely had to chew. The only very slight downside was that we had no room for dessert, but it was definitely worth missing out on. I recommend this venue wholeheartedly and without reservation. Our waitress was just lovely and very much on the ball, providing excellent service.

We had helpful staff and good meals. Although my son was of the opinion he could make tastier nachos himself and another son who thought his steak meal only average. Portions are a decent size. Options for gluten free but vegetarian options seem limited unless you load up on sides. The restaurant even when not full sounds noisy so it can be hard to hold a conversation without raising your voice. The bar area was quieter and after our meal we spent time there instead...it was also a bit more comfortable for us seating-wise there and allowed for more group mingling. The seating in the restaurant was a bit uncomfortable. Wooden seats with no cushioning and that do not accommodate a large frame. So a bit difficult to relax unless you have a booth style table which have padded bench seats. However the booth tables would not have been big enough for our group of 6.

I’ve had mixed meals from here. Some good some not so good. Our last dinner Mother’s Day wasn’t so good. Didn’t get what we ordered and no apology until pulled up on the matter. The staff are great, friendly and helpful. I would go again But I have to say that this was the second time in a row I wasn’t satisfied but I do enjoy the atmosphere and meals for the most part. Parking is good and not too far from home.

First of all I would like to thank our hostess for the night "Chloe"! She was amazing! Once the manager seated our group of 7 Chloe immediately came over & explained the specials and took our drinks & entree order. She was very professional the whole evening from our entree to dessert & continued to check on us. She was so kind to our 3 year old too bringing over colouring in supplies to keep him busy! After years of being away the food is not as good as great as I remember. Staff are very friendly. Not a place to go to if you are looking for a quiet place, it gets very noisy and music in the background doesnt help either. Staff need to look into matching the music with the atmosphere they wish to create

The music is always too loud in the restaurant and people constantly raise their voices to hear each other, which makes it an unpleasant noisy dining experience. After a glitch with our overcooked entrees the helpful staff replaced the dishes immediately and second time round was much more pleasant. I've always enjoyed the coleslaw and Johnny Cash Stash Chicken, but changing the large dull/soft fries would be awesome. The choice of large wedge chips, thin chips or curly fries with my meal would have made it perfect dining event. But please take notice of the excessive noise & music for a diner's experience in the restaurant, as this does make you loose customers.

Ok let's get onto the food.....its damn good as well, the meals are well presented and servings are quite large so if you are hungry head over there a get a great meal, it's a bit pricey I must say, but what you pay for is definitely worth it, I been there a few times and they are consistent.

We were there last night for my partner's birthday. The service was great, even the guy who was taking us to our seats + our waitress was nice but at the end I had said I'll take my food home cause I didn't finish so obvisouly didn't want to waste food + money. Unfortunately she didn't hear because she placed my partner's plate on top of my food though I had asked to take home which was a bummer. I think for future advice all waitress should ensure to ask theirs customers if they want to take their leftovers home, not just assume it all goes to the bin. Had dinner tonight with my family. The service was really good and the waitresses were fantastic. I had a Kiwi Joker for my mains and I found the L.S coleslaw was fresh and crunchy but it had large cabbage pieces in it that I had to cut into smaller edible pieces and it tasted a bit too raw, not enough dressing. I had the milky bar pud for dessert and it was the most delicious dessert I have ever had at any restaurant. But my sister had a creme brulee and it was very disappointing. It was half the size of the dish it came in and the caramelized topping was very very very thin on top and didn't have that crackling texture when you break it with your spoon. But overall we had an enjoyable evening, great atmosphere and friendly staff. I would definitely return here for dinner again.

My partner and I go to Lonestar Manukau mainly for the Green Lipped Mussels. Yum! The steak isn’t as good as I remember it used to be. Cocktails are good and the overall price is reasonable. Service is also very good, we’ve never had to wait too long to be seated or served.
