It is great to have Malt as my local, it is a relaxed and friendly place with different options for dining including a great back courtyard. Staff are welcoming and on to it, good table service too even if you are just popping in for a drink. Wines available in large or small pours which is fun, also some nice cocktails if you feel like a treat - they make an excellent rum espresso martini. Usually we will just get a mixture of the snack type dishes, they are always tasty, come out fast, and good value for money. Thanks for being so consistent over the years Malt!

Chicken wings are delicious and the Friday 50c deal is great. Their Guinness is decent but sometimes poured with too big of a head and with bubbles but generally it’s fine. The atmosphere is always good and staff are friendly.

We had my brothers surprise 40th at Malt and it was amazing!! Food was great, our set up was outside and it was really nice. Shout out to our waiter Ash who did a stunning job getting all of our drink orders and making us laugh. We'll be back for sure :)

Go upstairs to get views of Rangitoto. Food was excellent but when we got there the kitchen didn't open till 5pm. It may open for lunch then close and reopen. Before then it's hot chips.

Wooow where to begin... Great music playing, your staff pleasant and professional. The food was fine done quality at a very reasonable price. My beer frosted glass and perfectly poured, scenic atmosphere almost as if your having dinner at a friend's house in the backyard. I enjoyed every minute I spent here! Thank you Malt Public House.

Excellent friendly service. Very enjoyable dishes, even if some of them are a bit odd (for instance the cheese and chicken dip, it feels like it should be queso dip with corn chips and fried chicken pieces to dip in it, but it's cheese dip with shredded chicken mixed in) but they're all very enjoyable. Nightly specials are great value, for instance $15 for a steak main dish and a milkshake.

Definitely my favorite eatery/watering hole in Grey Lynn. I live near Malt and really have only discovered it properly in the last 6 months, to which I have become a regular. Atmosphere is great, my favorite place to sit is out back on the deck. There are umbrellas for summer and heaters for winter and the gardens are really well cared for which definitely enhances the atmosphere. Food is to a good standard with the usual pub-type grub available. Think pizzas, burgers and sides but made to a standard you would expect in Grey Lynn. Service is pretty good to, the bar manager really knows her stuff and makes a decent bloody mary. Plenty going on from quiz nights to live music which isn't overwhelmingly loud. You can enjoy the music and have a conversation with someone at the same table - other Auckland pubs should take note! Overall, I feel privileged to be able to call this pub my local.

Really like the vibe - not too wild, you can still have fun sort of family restaurant/bar. The outdoor area can hold a small party. The platter was mouth watering. My only complain is the queue for drinks can be long.

Love the Malt house on a Friday eve, great way to start an evening. There chicken wings are great we always go as a group and order loads as they are only 50cents each all the flavours are delicious! Also they have a happy hour in that time too! They do deal nights as well I had a chicken burger on a Wednesday for $15 with chips I would try the beef next time I think though. But definitely recommend going on a Friday if your thinking of going!

Asked for a cooked pattie please. New burger and chips arrived looking amazing, pattie still raw in the middle, which was very disappointing. The cooked part was delicious! But when asking for a cooked pattie, I'd kind of expect it to be cooked properly the second time round. Goes unsaid, I didn't eat the raw part...

Highly-highly recommended each and every flavor. (I preferred the savory ones, my friends loved the sweet and or spicey ones. So there was something for everyone.

Still a nice place but the recent renovation didn't do it any favours. Slightly sterile, bar staff especially seem more interested in talking to each other than serving. The outdoors area is still good, but overall the place is just 'nice' without the excitement and personality a great local bar needs. Such a shame.

A very good local pub. In fine weather /summer days the courtyard with its leafy overhang and live music is a relaxing place for a beer and meal. Over winter inside it has been warm and cosy. Really good food with "specials" each night. Its a toss up whether the chocolate mousse or lemon cheesecake was better ! (The cheesecake got my vote) The staff are personable and friendly. In particular the manager puts a lot of effort in to making sure everything is right. Definitely recommended.

The other thing was, a sharing plate is normally for two people and it arrived with 3 pieces of bread and 3 wafers. Most odd! They did offer to supply more which we did and no additional charge.
