Very good food here... I was invited here by Malaysian folks and it's also highly recommended by them as well. I had the chicken & prawns laksa but tasted the food around the table and it was great. Atmosphere and staff were great too, make sure you try the teh tarrik as it was recommended... check out the pics. Side note, I had the HOTTEST chili I've had in a long while! Just ask the friendly staff for their chili mix.

My favourite Malaysian franchise in Auckland! I tend to go to the one in the Chancery since I live centrally but I try to come out to the Takapuna branch as well. I took my friends here for dinner and they enjoyed their meals as first timers. They even said they'd come back so that's a good sign. On this evening I ordered the roti and dhal as an entree and I had a curry for my main (which I didn't take a photo of because I was chit chatting). You have to try the food here - go on! You know you want to ;o)

The food here reminds me of home. So far I've tried their wa tan hor, prawn mee, beef murtabak, and char kuey teow and they're very delicious! They also could accommodate for when I asked if they could split the noodle in the prawn mee to half yellow noodle and half vermicelli, just like how it's like in Malaysia. This place is worth a try if you enjoy eating South East Asian food. Be warned though, the place gets very crowded very fast!

The food was really good, the taste is similar or even better than the ones in Malaysia. Really didn't expect that. Staffs are friendly and nice, place are clean and tidy. Waiting time wasn't long even though it was quite busy in the restaurant. Worth give it a try!

Called them at about 5ish, soon after opening and ordered 4 dishes, and was advised that my order would be ready in 15 minutes, and they were true to their word. My friends and I were not disappointed. Delicious and authentic. As good as any beef rendang they have had, was one verdict. We also enjoyed a complimentary sago pudding. Very highly recommended, and we will be back.

Best restaurant to get Malaysian food. They made the Laksa wonderfully and they were really flavourful. The oldtown nasi lemak goreng was absolutely delicious. I would be coming back for more of them. Staff were really friendly and accommodating, a nice complement to the already great service. Keep up the good work!

One of our favourite places to eat in Auckland. Meals are always a generous size, full of flavour, and very affordable. Perfect for couples or dining in groups, however I’d recommend booking ahead for larger groups as it can fill up around dinner time. Vegetarian and vegan options both available. Was quite excited to come by since I've heard quite good things from this place and I enjoyed the food at the one in Chancery Square. We booked on the day since we had about 5 people. We just ordered a range of different things to share. The food all looked quite nice when it came out. However, I thought that for some of the dishes the flavour wasn't really there. Both the beef rendang and the chicken satay were quite bland and the rendang was quite tough. The flavour of the curry chicken noodle was slightly off from other curry chickens. However the char kuay teow was delicious. I would happily go back just for that. I would also go back for the milo Godzilla, a milo dinsaur with a scoop of ice cream. I think that the dishes here might be hit or miss depending on your take of Malaysian food. For me it was nice but didn't really have the Malaysian flavour.

This is the best value restaurant in Auckland. We eat here twice a week because it’s so good and so well priced. The Nasi Lamak and the Seafood Laksa every time. We love these guys.

Set up like a Mamak stall the chairs and the tables give it an authentic feel. The food was less than perfect. My chicken curry laksa had awesome broth but that’s it, the noodles tasted average and my egg was cold out of the fridge. The roti canaj wasn’t bad, again a bit cold but it tasted nice and authentic. I would still come back but I hope they up their game a bit and pay attention to quality.

As a lover of Malaysian food, I was thrilled to find this place! The Chicken Mee Goreng was so tasty and the serving was so big I almost couldn't eat all of it! The crispy squid was amazing too. great place in taka, the CKT is impeccable, everytime, portions of meat vary, but never pay too much mine. yummy milo dinosaur, the roti i suspect is from frozen not super flakey and crisp, would give a miss unfortunately, rice is great and flavoursome. there are better places but still, Mamak is pretty good. is always busy and staff are so friendly. a regular spot.

This famous Malaysian cuisine restaurant used to be situated in the CBD but that establishment has been bought over from the Malaysian founder who migrated to New Zealand over ten years ago. Now, the founder has returned with this place in the North Shore. The menu is just the same and it features the most authentic roti canais, nasi rendang and hot teh tariks you will ever find in Auckland. There is only one section for a large group while the rest are good for groups between 2 to 5 people.
