What a gem of a place, will definitely be back the service was amazing so warm and friendly. The food was amazing, especially loved the little salad 🥗 you get great surprise. We came for mother's day and wasn't disappointed. We had the sausage platter and the beef schnitzel so delicious and the serving size was large. We also had a German beer 🍺 that was so refreshing 😋

Really cool spot right "in the middle" of Rosebank road. Three different variety of Hofbrau beer on tap available and they are bringing the Stein back where it belongs. (Something for the beer lovers) A very loungy set up with a friendly staff. It does feel quite homely everytime I go there. A healthy collection of German food and quite friendly on the pocket too. Definitely a must visit. 👍

You know a place is good when you want to come back before finishing your meal! My partner and I came here for Dinner on a Friday evening. Food was so delicious! The sausages definitely the winner on the menu here. Excellent value for money too! A lot of food for the total cost. Wasnt too busy either being a Friday. This place has a nice feel to it as well, feels homely and warm. The decor is very cute! Excellent service here too, very friendly and welcoming.

After the first bite I was already planning on my next visit here. Everything I ordered my outstanding and tasted better than expected. Staff are polite and food is served promptly. The vibe inside is very comfortable and welcoming, like visiting your friend in their home. Plenty of parking at the rear of the lot makes it perfect. Just keep driving down past the restaurant and you'll see parking spots labeled for Mitten Drin. There are also parks on the right of the building. Highly recommended!

This is not a fancy french restaurant, its good honest german fare. The food is very tasty and really quite regional, you wont find a lot of the type of food at another restaurant, its not expensive but you get a decent helping. You can get authentic german beer from the tap, up to a 1 litre stein, delicious and refreshing. I come here every week, there is an upstairs, and downstairs and an outdoor setting. The staff are friendly - I wish I could give this place more stars

Great food, the sausages tasted exactly like the ones I had in Bonn, highly recommend if you don’t know what to order. The service was amazing, the place was clean and tidy and there are loads of toys for kids! What more do you want!

Mitten Drin is an amazing German restaurant. It appears to be a local favourite, with many families enjoying the cozy and social atmosphere. The schnitzel, no matter which one it is, are a definite must-have! All the flavours are crafted with care, from the delicious salad, to the hearty main dishes, and ending with scrumptious desserts. Happily returning customer here, and my German companion raved about all the food we tried!

Great authentic German food. We visit often, sometimes via Ubereats. I have never been disappointed. My wife loves the european sausages, I personally have been working my way through the menu. We've also been for breakfast, and can highly recommend the Eggs benedict.

German cuisine is as close as I can get to the country I was born in and spent lots of good times in Germany, so went to Mitten Drin. Wonderful host, and the food was great. Very generous portions for a surprisingly low price. Great atmosphere, staff is attentive, but not in your face. A lovely European food experience which definitely alleviated my home sickness in this time of not being able to travel. Wunderbar! For authentic German cuisine and hospitality, I'd highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife and kids and I ate here Sunday night. They have a pretty comphrehensive menu for a smallish restaurant. The front of house guy was friendly and service was good. The food was on the whole very good, enjoyable and well cooked, though desserts were a disappointment with pretty much everything being dry or overcooked. Something I think they could work on. Overall, we enjoyed our meal here and would eat here again. As others have said, it's not a fancy restaurant, but still pleasant and functional. What was really great, was things are good value!

We can't say enough nice things about this place. My partner ranks this as her best meal in NZ (I merely put it in the top 3). The food is incredibly tasty (better than what you'd get at the viaduct). The price is amazing (you can get a meal and a side for $20). The decor is simple but functional. If you're looking for a romantic first date location (and wanna pay $40 a plate), maybe stick to the viaduct. Otherwise, come here.

A German friend recommended this place to us, now we recommend it too :) The decor doesn't look like German but (!) let it not deceive you. The food is German, the beers are German, the quality is, you guessed it, German. A very welcoming, relaxed place, everything is clean and neat. Fresh tasty food, flavoursome beer, broad menu to accommodate all tastes, quick service and lots of attention from the staff. What else to wish for? Will be coming back for sure.

So I had a day off work and decided to have lunch at Mitten Drin. I had seen this restaurant pop up on social media and thought I should try it since I do like German food. If I only took the day off work to have lunch at this place it was so worth it and would do it again. I ordered the lip-smacking Kassler chop with smooth, creamy mash and beer gravy. Hubby had his beloved pork knuckle, or as we know it - eisbein and couldn't stop raving about it. While we waited for our food we were served a small salad to start which was a lovely surprise. The owner is a fabulously gracious host who is genuinely pleased to serve you. I wish this place the success it deserves - we will certainly be back. Whoops, almost forgot to mention the very reasonable price for our lunch - just over $50 including two drinks. We couldn't leave it at that, adding a slice of chocolate mousse cake, mille feuille and a slice of black forest cake to go. YUM!

Tried the Pork kuckle, and two sausage types thuerringer and something else. It's so simple, sausage, mash, gravy. So good infact, we are booked in for next week. Mitten Drin is a hidden gem in the middle of the industrial area of Rosebank Road... but dont let that put you off. We have been to Germany so were really glad we found this delightful restaurant. Discovered it late last year and it took us back to the wonderful experience we had on our first trip to Germany in 2019. So very impressed with the welcoming owner Mike, his staff and the food which is genuinely authentic German cuisine at an affordable price. If you like Bavarian Weisswurst or Schnitzel check it out. Not to mention the desserts..Yum!! Generous servings for the price and the Münchner beer on tap is my new favourite drink! Highly recommend Mitten Drin if you want to experience truly authentic German dining. Wunderbar!

We booked a Family of 12 for XMas day 2020- what an awesome experience!!- Never had authentic German food like Pork Knuckle/ Sauerkraut / German Dumplings etc- Buffet Menu with the Top German selections and truly the best food made professionally by Mike/Luhu and the team at Mitten Drin. A new restaurant in Rosebank with genuine German food. The mains were good while the desserts and pretzels were excellent. Can tell this place hasn't been opened too long as the staff are still figuring things out a bit but the service is very friendly. I would rate this place a 4.5 but would leave a few pointers to really make this place amazing. For the hock especially please make sure to provide the customer with a much sharper knife as the crunchy (and very tasty) skin is very difficult to cut otherwise. The only other thing we would mention is to be careful not to overcharge customers as some may take it the wrong way (When we got home we realised we were charged for one large beer which we didn't have) however we think this is attributable to staff still figuring things out. Overall a good experience and with a few changes could definitely be a favourite in the West!

Discovered MittenDrin today by sheer luck while out and about with my folks. First impression: such a cute place, very clean, lovely welcoming staff and delicious food in the cabinets. We dined from the menu and all three of us loved our meals! Extremely reasonable prices, awesome german sausages and schnitzels (but with loads of other options too) plus great staff and owner . My parents live out East, and I live in Ponsonby....but we had such a great lunch we have decided to all meet at MittenDrin in Avondale again next time. Thank you Mike and team!

If you are looking for authentic German food in Auckland and for the genuine and authentic "Gastfreundschaft" (German expression to describe the vibes and staff friendliness of a pub) I would recommend Mittendrin. Quality and freshness of the menu and pastry is amazing. Loved the home-made sauerkraut (best one since I left Austria) and pastry. Bring your friends and family and help the owners to establish Mittendrin!!! It's worth one, two and many more visits.
