Service was great and the staffs were accommodating. We ordered fried pork and prawn wonton, Penang Curry Kapitan and Pork Belly. All of the food we ordered were delicious and we really enjoyed it. My only comment is that we waited for about 40 minutes for our entrees to delivered at our table. It was a full house so probably the kitchen is a bit busy

Omg 🤤 came here after we seen a Facebook advert. So so so good… we had the whole Snapper with Asian slaw. Every dish was suburb, staff were super friendly! Great vegetarian/vegan options as well. You have to give them a try!

Visited here for a special birthday dinner. Had to book us beforehand since the place so popular for their delicious food. We bought a birthday cake for this special person and the manager asked what the special occasion was for. When we let her know, she led the whole restaurant customers and staff sing the happy birthday for our family member. It was a great evening and a memorable experience. Would recommend and come here next time. Thank you Mulan staff and team :)

Having gone over the negative reviews of this place I am baffled as to what people are saying about the price of the food. In my educated opinion the prices are more than reasonable and the food is yummy! The service was really good, they were busy and yet the staff made time to check in with us, to answer our questions, what more can you ask for, right!?! I had the Lamb Shank Special and I was blown away at how tender the shank was. We will be back and we will be spreading the good word about this great little local.

A hidden Gem in Auckland . Us locals know how great this place is fantastic food. Its time to make the trip to try it. Great selection of special garage beer project. Had so many great dishes but here are pictures of two curries. mums Chicken and dads lamb, along with delicious spice fried cauliflower. Yummmm

3 stars over the miscommunication and disappointing experience over a table booking so didn't get to eat there, but the owner called me and explained why the incident happened and was really lovely and apologized for the misunderstanding so we're looking forward to the Mulan experience moving forward. I'm sure my next review after our experience there will be better.

WHAT A GEM. We cycled all the way from Mt Albert (via Eastern Harbor Bridge) to get here and the owner was kind enough to hold our table (we were 30m late). We ordered rice with dishes - chicken satay, kapitan chicken curry, fried squid , papaya salad w prawns, pork ribs and got given fried long beans as a complimentary dish. We were supremely pleased with the quality and taste of the food (not hard to please a group of hungry cyclists) but what really stood out was the level of service - warm, friendly and accommodating. Thank you we will def return. Great Penang eurasian dishes - brings back memories!

Called in a late order just before closing in level 3 on Saturday and was lucky enough for the kitchen to push our order through, although they didn’t have everything we wanted the lovey lady replaced our choices with some great recommendations & called me 10 minutes later to say it was ready. It is fairly large restaurant with lots of tables. Fairly nice decor with plants, trinkets and umbrellas scattered around the room and roof. There was a fair selection of items from the menus. I went with the Satay chicken and the Penang Curry Kapitan. I quite enjoyed the satay chicken even though it wasn't proper. The chicken was cooked nicely and I really liked the coconut peanut satay sauce, which was almost like a curry. The first thing I smelt when I got the mains was the coconut rice. It was just so fragrant. The curry itself was alright but thought it could have used a bit of a flavour punch. It wasn't bland but more subtle flavouring. Nice dishes and service.

Authentic Malaysian food with a twist of home cooked style. Super tasty and flavourful. Quite possibly the best Malaysian restaurant in Auckland. Great value for money, great service and atmosphere. Highly recommend to any Malaysians missing a taste of home with some added flare from the chef's home style recipes.

Had our first level 3 takeaway from Mulan tonight and loved it! The panang curry was delicious and the papaya salad was really refreshing. Our kids loved the momos and coconut rice. All ready for click and collect quickly and very reasonably priced. Thanks Mulan!

My favourite restuarant on the Shore. The squid is absolutely divine. I'm not sure what they put in the sauce, but its adictive! The perfect blend of sweet and sour with lemony herby deliciousness. The ribs are amazing too!

My Partner and I have visited 2 times in the last month! The food is amazing! I assume its Nana's deep dark recipes!! Cant go past the Beef Massman Curry or the Golden Shield Squid! Ask to sit in the sun at the bar, perfect spot for an afternoon drink! (Also BYO, but the wine list is still good even if you dont have a bottle handy!!)

Amazing selection of vegan options, I had the vegan curry and it was absolutely delicious. Great range of awesome craft beers too. Really nice family run restaurant, but be sure to book a table as they fill up fast!

Ordered some hot sambal as the wings were not "Fury" at all but the sambal took them to a great chilli heat level. Would like to try some of the other dishes. Most of our party of ten brought there own wine and at $54 per head I think the cost was reasonable. Staff were friendly and engaging. Will definitely return someday.

We came here for my sister’s birthday. She has worked in many hospitality roles and always notices things like organisation of staff. This experience was faultless. A memorable meal. Their signature Market fish is what we will return for. Its fish cooked beautifully in a lemongrass, green chili, mint then topped with the key ingredient Ginger flower that ties the dish together with its unique flavor. A must try. As a Malaysian, who's travelled for several years mainly in South East Asia, it was obvious this family owned restaurant doesn't cut corners on quality. Service was great, ambiance was buzzing and food arrived timely manner. As I don't live very far, I consider myself lucky. I will return !

Outstanding service and amazing food!! Had my birthday dinner here on a Friday night and James & the staff were very accomodating. It was a busy night but they made sure my guests and I were comfortable and had everything we needed. They also sang happy birthday and took care of the cake I brought in which made the night extra special. The food was also delicious and perfect for sharing, highly recommend!

Very popular restaurant and I can see why! The food was incredible. I had the vegetable curry from the vegan menu with roti and the cauliflower bites to share. The curry was full of flavor and fresh veges, and the roti was deliciously fluffy and crispy 🤤 Cauliflower bites were delicious as well!! The staff is awesome, very friendly and efficient 👌🤌

A top Asian Fusion restaurant in Auckland with a broad menu selection and outstanding presentation and service. The food quality and potion size was excellent. The front of house service was outstanding! How often do you have the owner ( in addition to the great front of house staff) of a restaurant going around greeting and checking in with all Customers/tables across the restaurant. Definitely one of our new favorites.

These guys were seriously under the pump on mother's day. The front of house handled the takeaway customers very well though. A beer on the house for our troubles as a few were waiting for a significant time (which isn't normal in my previous experience) It's rare to see someone willing to make that call on the spot and underrated what a different experience it creates. Incredible meal - one of the best dinners I’ve had this year! A wide variety of home-style Malaysian cooking, the food here was beyond my expectations. I honestly loved every single dish but their signature dish, the Golden Shield (sweet & spicy squid), really stood out. Was thoroughly impressed with all the flavours of the dishes, but I particularly liked the Jackfruit Rendang (vegan) and Pork Belly of the mains. Reasonably priced, I highly recommend checking out this restaurant! They’ve got a dedicated vegan menu as well as options catering to other dietary requirements.

If you ever have cravings for Malaysian food then Mulan is a must try. They serve delicious authentic Malaysian food with amazing presentation and the customer service is excellent. The owner actually goes around the restaurant to greet and check in with all their customers which we loved and do not see often at all from other restaurant. The food price is very reasonable for their good quality and portion size. Also, they have a wide range of selection from their menu (including a Vegan menu) catering for all dietary requirements. We have tried a variety of dishes and we loved how each dishes had their own unique flavour and fragrance. We would recommend all of them as they are all super delicious. But we did had a few favourites: • Pork belly (Tau Yu Bak) - MUST TRY!!! The pork belly melts in your mouth with full of flavour. • Cauliflower poppers - Crunchy and fried to perfection, delicious. • Golden Shield - which is the sweet and spicy squid. This dish wasn't spicy but the flavours were so tasty. This is definitely the best Malaysian restaurant that we had tried in Auckland so far. We would definitely be back to try more of their dishes. Tip: The restaurant is always very busy so it is best to make a booking first.

Best food I've had in a long time! They have a vegan menu as well as a regular menu. I had jackfruit and banana fritters and my boyfriend had chicken and a mango dessert...everything was just super delicious! Also the atmosphere was nice and the family who owns the restaurant was super lovely :)

Amazing home styled malaysian cuisine. Best Restaurant in highbury by far! I have dined in with my family a couple times and the restaurant looks very clean, all the stuff are also very friendly. I ordered some take away during lock down and i got the Beef Massaman which is my top dish, and I recommend it for anyone that is going for the first time. Some other dishes I recommend include the Golden Shield, Chicken Pad Thai, and the Pork Buns.

I love this place. A very warm and friendly atmosphere with fantastic food. Carol, the owner, has a great relationship with her customers. We went there for the second time last night and she remembered our names. Carol’s husband and son, along with their crew are magicians in the kitchen and create the most amazing food. Service and ambience was great. Food was not so great. 2 out of the 5 dishes we ordered were just too salty that we could not even consume half of them. And it's not because we're not used to strong flavors because we ourselves use a lot of seasoning in our dishes. They were just plain too salty. The other dishes were so-so. Really nice experience having a takeaway service in Mulan last night. We called at 6:00 and when we arrived at 6:15 the food was already done! The staff were all wearing mask and they were so friendly to us. We ordered steamed buns, satay, massaman and pork belly. Everything were just so good. If you want the best Malaysian food in the town, Mulan is the go to place. Went Friday night about 7pm, and while in the area looked for a place to eat. Came across Mulan, it was pretty full so we thought it must be good. They only had a seat at the bay window so we took it. A busy little restaurant with a nice vibe, very friendly staff, quick service. Food was delicious. We started with lamb momo's and cauli poppers, mains mums chicken curry and the special which was scotch fillet, with eggplant, onion and a hint of chilly which just melted in your mouth. Side dish of beans which were chargrilled with garlic which were a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Cost us $38 each, we will definitely be back and highly recommend.

What a fabulous night. Really homely and friendly feel as you walk into the restaurant. We had the loveliest waiter. Only his second shift. I asked for a really hot spicy meal and was not let down. The chef takes great pride in using only fresh ingredients in his food and making everything from scratch. The proof is in the eating. Thanks for a wonderful experience and we will be back. Been meaning to visit this neighbourhood spot for a while as I’d heard rumours of its quality & so pleased I did. Went on Saturday night & although the restaurant was in full swing we were greeted immediately & seated at a table by the window. Service was fast & attentive & our order was taken promptly. Beer was ice cold, all initial checkpoints ticked. Then it comes to the food. Honestly, I’d sit in the car park in the rain to eat this food, it’s flawless. You can taste every spice they use & the balance is mind blowing. Such skill & control. You can’t teach people to cook like that, it’s cooking from the heart. Whatever you’re doing this weekend just cancel, go to Mulan instead, you’ll be pleased you did. Thanks team.

I rarely write reviews for restaurants, but for Mulan, I make an exception. Having been multiple times and returning after a prolonged break, I had forgotten how amazing this place is. We had the Golden shield, sambal babi, penang chicken curry and lamb momos. The penang was as delicious as ever (and to be clear, it's at a level where you can't imagine being able to recreate it at home). Sambal babi and golden shield as spicy and fragrant as one would expect from an overpriced CBD Asian fusion joint. And the momos... to be perfectly honest i didn't know what momos were, but as it turned out, they are lamb dumplings with the most incredible sauce. 10/10 2020 will see me here as much as possible. Also, BYO?!?!?!

Mixed feelings with Mulan sadly. The service was kind and the decor/ambience is vibrant. We started off with the lamb momos which were great, but from there…not so good. The “golden shield” signature dish had far too much onion in it, it overpowered the dish. And the two main curries tasted nearly exactly the same - might have been poor ordering on my part - but sadly neither were particularly great. I found both a bit bland. It’s never nice when the service is so warm to have to give a review like this, but a restaurant needs to let its food do the talking.
