Reviews of Ostro Brasserie & Bar
G.
Good spot, great food and service. Our waitress was excellent , attentive and very helpful with our food choices. We arrived rather early & was prepared to have a drink in the bar but it wasn't a problem & we were offered our table immediately with a view of the Harbour. Lovely evening & definitely going back.
F.
The food is great. Ordered the beef Wellington and tastes great. But just realized there is no special gift for birthday person. What’s more, if you bring your own cake, there will be extra $5 charge for each person at your table.
The waiting time today around 50 minutes ( we have already pre-order online though ) ,it is quite a long waiting for my husband but it is acceptable for me.
F.
Went here for family lunch on daughter birthday. Very impressive. Started with the seafood platter and lobster toast yummy. Lobster toast is a must try. Then shared Beef Wellington and lamb roster both first class. Lamb falling off the bone. Sides veg and chips all good. Staff were attentative and most helpful. Really nice outlook just a shame the container wharf is here but would highly recommend Ostro to all. Is expensive but I thought well worth the experience.
V.
Lovely location. Great food, and even better service. We thoroughly enjoyed our Saturday Sipsters lunch here. A must-do restaurant..
Oh, and a wonderful view of the Port.
S.
Lovely restaurant with great food. Best beef Wellington I’ve ever had. We went twice on a weekend and the beef Wellington was sold out and were told to call in and reserve it. Everything on the menu is fantastic though. Great view and location.

On a Saturday afternoon around 3pm we wandered for lunch into Ostro. This place has a great view of the Waitemata harbour and you have the option to sit inside or the outside depending on weather. Great ambience and sitting space. Menu had one main option for vegetarians only. We had hot pot mushrooms and pan sheared snapper plus fries on the side. For a fine dinning restaurant the food was average, customer service was not as expected but the servers were polite. Cocktail was great along with the tap beer. Definitely a place to visit with friends for a drink and to soak in the harbour views.
L.
Food was absolutely amazing. However, the service was disaster.
Service: Lunch time was extremely under staffed. We kept looking for our waiter and nobody checked on us. When the desserts came and we waited for five minutes to get our cutlery.
Food: Oyster was fresh, lamb rump was just perfect(tender, juicy and flavourful), beef fillet was delicious and the chicken was tasty. Desserts do need some improvement nothing special.
E.
Was there for a work function. Food was amazing and our lovely Scottish waitress was so attentive. I didn't take a picture of the carpaccio but it was the star of the meal. View of the docks is quite cool. I love the space and will be back. Its a great place for drinks with friends.

Everything was perfect. I have never been to Ostro before and that was my first time there, I invited a friend as well. We came for the beef Wellington and it did not disappoint us ! (in fact, we were extremely fascinated by many other elements about this place). Perfectly cooked and marinated medium rare beef that melts in your mouth with a layer of pate and the crispy puff pastry wrapped around. It’s literally heaven. If you haven’t tried out the beef Wellington in Ostro yet, you definitely should. Other dishes were also very nice, I did not have time to take pictures of them because I didn’t want to let my friend wait for too long.
To be honest, this is one of very few places I have been to in Auckland that can accomplish all these three things: ambience, food, and customer service. It has a breathtaking view with chilling, romantic music that will satisfy anyone you’re inviting here. Elegant atmosphere and layout. Food is excellent, nothing to complain about. Moreover, the customer service is just on point. They’re very polite, they’re friendly and thoughtful. To the French guy who worked in Ostro Bar that day: Thank you, you made our experience there perfectly outstanding !
I feel happy that I took my friend to this place. Keep it up Ostro Brasserie & Bar. Will be coming back here for sure. My tummy already misses the food from them :)
S.
Such an awesome spot. We came for a couple of drinks and some snacks. We had no booking but got a great table despite it being busy. Will be back for dinner at some point!
C.
Great service and views. Sides are pretty good tastes and the beef Wellington is ok. They also give birthday person a little cute cake :)
W.
Really nice place. Amazing food and wonderful customer service. It's expensive but worth it.
J.
I don’t know why it took me so long to come to Ostro, but I finally made the effort and regret not going earlier. This is one of the finest dining experiences Auckland has to offer - I’ll be back.

We dined out at Ostro Brasserie & Bar in Britomart precinct and was instantly impressed with the service and restaurant interior as soon as we entered. From a very industrial looking entrance to the building to ascending the floors to the restaurant, it was stunning to walk into the reception area separating the mood lit bar to the right and the expansive dining area opposite.
The maitre’d was a consummate professional with greeting and escorting us to our table. The wait staff were exceptional and the menu was exciting to peruse. I was impressed with the wine list the representation of NZ wines so we enjoyed an Otago Pinot Noir with Antipodes.
We started off with the seafood platter and this was amazing with banana prawns, kingfish crude, ceviche, oysters, tuna tataki and croquettes with a trio of sauces. This was the best seafood platter I’ve ever had as the flavour profiles were refreshing and exotic to enhance the seafood.
Following on, we ordered the snapper and lobster pie and this was moorish and flavoursome with chunks of lobster and fish in mornay sauce. We enjoyed the pie with Parmesan beignets and a cos hazelnut salad. The sides complemented beautifully.
For dessert we had the poached pear with chocolate mousse and a cheese platter. This was the perfect close to a wonderful dinner. Overall, our dining experience was memorable and the ambiance, service and cuisine was truly wonderful. Highly recommended with distinction!

Had high tea here with friends. The food was nicely presented but varied in terms of taste. Some items were outstanding, some were just quite ordinary. One item had cream that was off although the chef insisted that it wasn't. My girlfriends were not convinced though and it's rather insulting for the chef to imply we don't know what we are on about when some of us are proficient bakers and even teach cooking.
Why 3 stars? In terms of value, it's a bit misleading. For $55, you will get a savory option each but not the dessert option. So if there are 3-4 of you, you will have to either share or omit from eating the dessert you crave for as they only give one of each item. We were served 1 tray (see images) for 3 of us to share.
Tea is limited to 2 servings/cups. You don't get a chance of even getting top ups as they are chasing you out of the restaurant by that stage by clearing your plates and giving you the impression that it's time to bugger off.
The view is magnificent for those lucky enough to face the right direction. But would I come here again? Maybe.....maybe not.
A.
- Great service, best oysters in town, grilled market fish & lobster n snapper pie were outstanding.
- Saturday Sipsters : great deal, so good! In your dreams cocktail is a must.
K.
We come here for a friends birthday as we have read from the urban list it's one of the best places for a Sunday roast dinner on Auckland.
The roast was really tasty but they don't do gravy!! Which we thought it shocking, we were given a bit of jus from the beef Wellington which was amazing but not enough to go round for a table of 24. The Yorkshire pudding was one of the best i have tasted in a long time. The service was good and the venue is amazing. We'll be back again with a much smaller crowd and try something else off the menu.
Y.
Was planning to have Sunday roast menu(started on 2july), need to book at least 8hours in advance, unfortunately we did not book, end up we had others on the menu.
The side Parmesan beignets were delicious, perfect to match mayo sauce. Great service even it was busy.
C.
Beautiful dining experience with amazing views over Auckland Harbour. Food and drink were amaaazing, steak cooked to how i wanted. The duck starter was just to die for.
K.
One of my favourite restaurants in Auckland despite the fact I have never been able to order the beef wellington. Its always sold out before I get there. So if you're keen on that. Book and order ahead. Despite that all the dishes on the menu are fantastic and it has a great view of the car yard which doesn't sound great but is a nice view at night. The staff are friendly and helpful and the deserts are awesome. The creme brulee is really sizeable and sometimes I come here just for that. A must attend in Auckland.
M.
Amazing view, great staff. This is fine dining so you are looking to spend on a main and side in terms of portion size. My wife who isn't usually fussy was not a fan of the sauce on the gnocchi dish.
N.
We booked for a High Tea for a friends Birthday. It was excellent. The food was divine and our nut allergy was accommodated with no hassles. Service was very good and our waiter was extremely attentive and helpful, especially with describing the many teas we had to choose from. Best High Tea we have had so far :)
K.
Great location, atmosphere and food. My friends took me here first for my birthday and since then whenever there's an occasion or just coz we feel like eating somewhere nice we would go to Ostro. Really enjoyed the food, although it is a bit to the small serving/pricey but you are paying for the location, service and cuisine. My favorite has to be the creme brulee 😍
R.
I booked a bachelorette dinner here and it went swimmingly! Service was mostly attentive and my meal was lip smackingly wonderful. The sourdough and seaweed butter was tasty. I had the Angus burger with charcoal bun. I can't quite remember what the bowl contained but think it was made with polenta and yes it tasted yummy. The view at night is awfully romantic!
s.
was here hungry as devil, and thiat meal did justice to my hunger. had south island octopus, pull part sour dough bread and handcut fries. what a meal. sat infrint of bar. Man behind the tap Roshan is an absolute legend. Will be here everytime i visit Auckland.
S.
Lovely view of the water. We had a Nov 3-course special and it was aiight.
N.
Great place for family dinner...super friendly staff...awesome service...gud selection of menu...n top of the range desserts...
K.
Privileged to win an opportunity to dine here, meet the head chef Josh Emmet and enjoy his recommendations. See you for my birthday 🥰
A.
Went for the Saturday sipsters lunch special in a spacious and nicely curated setting; the main dishes were adequate, albeit suited for those with a salty palate; the petit fours were a delight. Meals are on the pricier end.
E.
Good new menu. The lobster/cauliflower soup was divine. The beef wellington was generous in serving size.
I was aware of a few poor reviews especially about the service. We however had great service with nothing to complain about.
N.
Our waiter was amazing and so attentive to details. Just amazing.
The food was extremely tasty, but I am going to give it 4 stars, just because of portion sizes. Yes I know this is 'fine dining', but the portion sizes are much smaller than other fine dining restaurants. I had the set menu and was left hungry.
Location is amazing.
W.
It's great
Atmosphere Top Food and Service
Thoroughly Recommend
A.
Very efficient service in a relaxed environment with a nice view of the harbor and beautiful food. Will definitely be back.
G.
Had high tea for brunch, and it was quite delicious with a great view!
But it’s pretty expensive just for a brunch
R.
Tasty! The risotto is really good! The Italian waiter is friendly (follow his recommendations for the wines)
A.
Fantastic high tea! Would definitely do this one again. Wish they had an actual tea menu though
F.
Great service. Divine food. Wonderful experience!!!
W.
We were on the second floor at a private function. The venue was fantastic.... indoor and deck or large opening windows. Good air flow, with a view to the street below.
The waitress especially, was amazing and well trained.
The downside was the coat check. No control and easy to loose your nice jacket.
All in all a great night!
J.
Is a great restaurant to have lunch / dinner, good menu, very fresh ingredients, well present, friendly staff, we just slightly encounter booking issues, no one taking booking we've called no. of time during the day and night, a few star nockoff taken off
S.
The food was spectacular and the setting, dining al fresco under the sparkle lights, made the evening perfect. The menu is seasonal; the lamb with eggplant & yogurt blew me away.
R.
Im not a fan of fancy places but this place is really amazing. Humble yet amazing 😉
B.
Amazing place great food great view and the service is top notch and amazing place to have a special event
J.
Best meal in Auckland. We adored the menu, service and food. Unusual kiwi ingredients and delightful combinations. Great wine list too.We had Bluff oysters and South Island Octopus for a starter, then shared the beef Wellington. It was cooked to absolute perfection and the portions were incredibly generous.
e.
Great food, great service, great location
B.
Steak and hazelnut dessert were amazing! Service was top notch too!
K.
Great high tea spot with a range of creative and delicious selection of savoury and sweet bites
L.
We took our clients for dinner and requested a table with a view .. we were not disappointed !
The able was great, the service was excellent (informative and professional), the wine list was extensive (but not too long) and the food delicious. All in all - a great night and would recommend
T.
Ostro is one of the restaurants I can highly recommend. This is my first time eating here and I will definitely come back. I'm obsessed with the marinated medium rare beef that melts in your mouth. Yum!
P.
Seafood and view is great but service needs to improve.
T.
Loved every minute. Stunning location, food and waiting staff. 100%
Y.
A must go restaurant in Auckland. Great views, excellent service and food. One of the better wine menus.
P.
Always a wonderful time here. Great food, service and atmosphere.
p.
It had been a few months since I was last here but tonight was as excellent as ever. Friendly service, great food and of course great views. Highly recommended.
a.
Our experience was perfect in every way but predominantly due to the amazing waiter Tye (sorry may have spelt that wrong - rhymes with Tie though). He went over and above in helping us to choose a wine that we both liked and didn’t break the bank and was perfectly attentive throughout the meal. He was so lovely and deserves a medal in my view!
J.
This place is amazing. The food is so good! Very helpful staff offering vegetarian options for me on the set menu.
R.
Had dinner with another couple on a relatively quiet Thursday night. Excellent views of the Port and the Harbour. We started with Oysters and Ceviche Trevally. Both nice , nothing spectacular but nice. We had a Shoulder of Lamb for 2 , Rib Eye steak and the Seafood Lobster scallop pie . Lamb was tender and flavourful, Steak overcooked (asked for med rare, got med) and the Pie had more Potato filling than Seafood. Disappointed in the pie big time and having a steak cooked correctly should be a no brainer. Service was ok with no major hiccups.
B.
The ambiance and food choices were lovely but that's the least to expect from an establishment like this. The food was top notch but what really made the difference for us, and set Ostro apart from others, is the great service that we received from Claudia. She was just great and had a pleasant and happy demeanor all night. Well done.
S.
Our favourite place to go for our birthdays. Had delicious and awesome experience every time. He likes stakes, and I like seafood. This place has excellent combo of both. Also delicious desserts. We tried to order different items every time. It's a bit on the pricey side, but it's worth it. Highly recommended for dinner, as that's the only time we usually went here. Also, staff were always fun and pleasant and willing to give suggestion on what they think you'll like. Try this place if you haven't yet!
R.
We dined here recently for lunch. Although the entrances, both from Quay Street and the lane behind the Seafarers Building, are rather unprepossessing and confusing, the restaurant space itself is attractive with appealing ambience and view over the harbour from this upstairs space. We were greeted by very personable, friendly and immaculate wait staff and given good explanations of the menu. All dishes ordered were delicious and beautifully presented. We would comment only that portions were on the small side especially for men and mains did not come with any accompaniments, more just garnishes, so side dishes were a necessity. We expected that even just one vegetable accompaniment to the mains would have been included in these prices and would have added to the aesthetics and appeal of the dishes, which looked more like entrees.
A.
In addition to a wonderful evening catching up with friends, our host was thoughtful and welcoming. The service was attentive and the food delicious.
M.
The food was fantastic but it seemed like the staff although very nice were already mentally on holiday, I expect very high quality service for the price.
Our booking was not recorded, i had to get attention to get a drink. Our breads did not turn up at the same time and then there were too many. Took ages to take our order. My side of vegetables did not turn up with my main. The staff were very helpful when we had their attention just expected them to be more attentive.
J.
Brasserie is truly the most superb dining experience we have ever experienced in many years. It's our anniversary and the two waiters who served us made it extra special with a surprise for us at the end. The food was so delicious and combining the experience it made our anniversary unforgettable. Thank you Brasserie for memories that will last a live time!
James and Sonja.💞

Chicken salad is great! I'm not a big fan of vegetables, because ... when I can get pizza or pasta, but for some strange reason, I decided to order a chicken salad, which is the best decision! This is probably the best salad I have ever had!
It's a warm salad and it's well seasoned with seasonings and roasted nuts. And there are a lot of bacon in it! I am very satisfied with the salad.
M.
Seafood platter was delicious, ceviche was amazing. Beef Wellington was well cooked and tender and the snapper was also delicious and in a yummy sauce. We had one mistake with an order and the staff was nice enough to put it on the house.
P.
Excellent food and service as always. The seafood platter was awesome with a great variety. Wine matches were also very good and there server was knowledgeable. View was spectacular as well. Price point is quite high but it was worth it.
S.
As soon as we arrived for a business meeting we were greeted cheerfully (30 minutes before opening time) and allowed to be seated to chat before 12 lunch. Had the lobster roll at lobsterandtap, it was very delicious. The staff were regularly very attentive and professional, especially Connor the bar manager who took special care to be sure everything was refreshed and Zoe who has a great manner nd Canadian accent. Top service and quality food plus the atmosphere in a pleasantly breezy open space looking out on the city is a big bonus on a hot Summer day. This is now my new favourite place in Auckland and I look forward to bringing the family next time I fly up (from Dunedin). Thank you Conner and team! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
J.
Pros: polite service, nice views and atmosphere, tasty mushroom vegan dish
Cons: VF (vegan friendly) noted at the bottom of the menu but no actual listed options (you have to ask what can be veganised), bit overpriced
M.
The new menu has some fantastic and highly creative cuisine options that will leave you wanting more. Aka the Crayfish toasted sandwich, tasting oysters, chicken parfait are simply superb. Will go back again just to hit these dishes again, so good. Thank you.
R.
The team at Ostro were amazingly professional and friendly. We were served by a few different staff and all seemed very diverse - from all around the world! Food was amazing. Great wine selection and non alcoholic too.
Highly recommended for a special dinner.
D.
Attended a function here. Beautiful bar with open flow to views across the harbour. Food was very good. Excellent range of quality beers, wines and spirits. Staff were excellent.
B.
Great place for lunch, Amazing Seafood and views.
M.
Only tried a couple entrees, but had the best wagu beef burger of my entire life here. And that's based on a lot of burgers.
J.
Went here on our last evening in NZ. great service. Good view onto the shipping /container area. Great cocktail list. Cool spot for a date night or nice dinner.
M.
Good quality food for afordable and reasonable prices. Would recommend!
M.
Fantastic food and possibly the best service I have ever experienced at a restaurant in Auckland. The young lady that served our table of 6 businessmen in the corner ( by the window) was simply outstanding. She was always there t top up water or wine, without being noticed. She had a great sense of humour and was very knowledgeable about not only the food, but also some great recommendations. I only wish I caught her name so that I could mention here here. Tall with very long blonde hair. I don't typically tip for service in NZ but this young lady was more than worth the tip we left for her. Well done Ostro on such a great hire. We will be back on service alone. The food was amazing as always. Zoopa
M.
No hassle booking made 2 hours prior online, excellent staff, friendly, welcoming and brilliantly knowledgeable about the menu and wine pairing. Entrees were large enough to act as mains and also as a nice accompaniment to any main meal too. Very nice!
R.
Superb. Wine list and food was top notch, but it's very popular so expect to be gently moved on once your time slot is up
J.
Lovely lunch overlooking the harbour. Great service with superb food.
S.
It was an amazing experience on my birthday 💙💚🧡
M.
The place looks cool and promising. The service was very good. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing about the food. I had an octopus salad for a starter and it was ok-ish. A little too many spicies that hid the taste of the ingredients. For the main course we ordered something that was called a lobster and pie. In reality this was mashed potatoes over the mix of cooked fish, shrimps and a little of lobster tail under some thick creamy sauce. The taste was absolutely blunt. So we decided to skip the dessert here.
M.
Had beef Wellington with clients - worthy for the 50-minute waiting time for the dish
M.
I have been here 3 times now over 2 years and I'm always disappointed.
This time I ordered Prawn and Banana salad.
The prawns were chewy and tasteless. Banana was undetectable. Presentation was a conical pile of shredded cabbage scattered with the prawns. No obvious dressing.
My companion's gnocchi were enjoyed.
Service was excellent but involved too many different people.
m.
This place is the high end market, the views are great looking out over the shipping waterways. But the food is high end and super nice. My Favorite is the Duck, you get a nice big piece and its cooked perfect every time. The back side of the restaurant is more a bar, casual dinning spot so its good to get in early and have nice relaxing drink.
K.
Reliably good food and very professional service with a lovely harbour view.
K.
Pricey. Food is nice, they're small portions though. Our waiter was amazing. Can't tell the same about the guy at the till. He made faces when we wanted to split the $700 bill... anyway. Nice food and location, it's just not my kind of place.
A.
Really nice a bit noisy, but still nice place to have a nice dinner with friends...
P.
Great drinks. I enjoyed the drinks really. Good food. The waiters were great. Very diverse staff. The serving of food took a long time. Real pricey though. Lucky it was the company that paid for it.
K.
Yummy food, lovely environment. Staff not overly flexible around choices on menu. Also were unprepared to refund full bottles of wine that hadn't been opened for a function once it was over (We were only there 3 hours) thought that was a bit mean.
C.
Excellent food and very good staff. Fine dining with a beautiful view. Priced well. Wine list was very good. Bit disappointing to see no vegetarian option on the menu, but they did accommodate and change the lamb main to a mushroom dish which was very good.
I had to ask for a plate as they served the steak on a board with no room to plate sides which I'd ordered. No biggy but I always wish restaurants would just serve food on a normal plate rather than trying to be cool. The steak was excellent though.
Overall I've been to Auckand twice and made a point to visit this restaurant both times. That says it all really!!
M.
I live in Sydney and every time I travel to Auckland for work I come here. Why? Great food, great location, friendly staff and top service. My compliments to the head chef and his team. They truly are the best team ever!
M.
I booked for a birthday party but due to covid 19 lockdown it was postponed. Rochelle Simpson couriered a lovely bottle of champagne and some lobster rolls as a way to cheer me up. That is perfect example of customer service. Thank you so much.
E.
Had a wonderful dinner here. The oysters and the absolutely huge whole John Dory was amazing. Don't forget to wash the food down with some espresso martinis or some nice gin.
O.
Fantastic food and outstanding service, combined with a great view!
C.
Wonderful food and ambience. However we were disappointed with the service. We had to ask for more drinks, dessert menu and for the bill. Had 3 different people serving us none of whom enquired as to how the meal was and no one said goodbye to us. If service could have been improved, we would have given Ostro 5 stars!
A.
Continually has really great food! Come here for celebration dinners mainly. I recommend that the Beef Wellington is DEFINITELY worth it at least one time you go.
Its fairly expensive, but you get what you pay for by miles. If you're tight, just get a main & a dessert because thats all you really aboslutely need - but the starter dishes & fancy cocktails are well worth the money.
Look at the menu online before you go, it makes ordering way easier when you feel prepared.
All in all: Ostro is fantastic, service is always friendly and prompt & absolutely worth it.
L.
Loved it here. To be seated to see amazing views of the harbour was a real treat and the seafood and beef wellington was so lip smacking good. Also a great selection of wine to taste.
P.
My brother birthday coinciding with his and his wife Anniversary. So what better way to celebrate than to go to a decent restaurant. We found Ostro after much dodging traffic to get there. And boy what a wonderful meal, as well as beautiful views over the harbour, we all agreed that it was great and will defo visit when next in NZ. Great night out and what a wonderful end to a lovely holiday.
K.
Service was great. Food was superb. Caught up with a mate who hadn't been to NZ in 15 years. He was blown away by the experience. Seafood platter is a definite go to starter.
J.
Mother’s Day dining. Took mum there for Mother’s Day dinner as she loves fine dining and seafood.
Service was great, food wasn’t bad. Found my kingfish ceviché a bit tasteless, definitely needed more flavour. Ordered seafood platter to share. Ordered extra Bluff oysters as they were fantastic (what could go wrong with them)
Son had black Wagu beef burger, mum has fish.
Overall experience not bad, food definitely pricey as the bill for the family was quite high.
D.
Location and ambience was excellent. Wine list was outstanding, but having frangelico as an option would have been a bonus. Food was great but one of our party found the wagyu beef dish lacked flavour. Desserts - Yum! Thanks for a great night out!
T.
We were visiting Auckland and staying nearby and wandered in by chance. What a lucky find! We had an outstanding meal with superb service. It was busy Friday night, but we were quickly seated at a high-top between the bar and the restaurant section. Our server, Livio, who appeared to be the maitre d' as well, was fantastic, making excellent suggestions on the menu and favorites on the wine list. Everything we had was first rate, including an incredible dish of fork-tender short ribs with a tart/sweet cabbage salad. The restaurant/bar is one big open space, and can get a bit loud, but all in all a memorable dining experience.
G.
Great food and service
J.
Went here for my wedding anniversary, and although the place has a lovely view and the staff is super friendly and professional, the food was a let down. Whenever I go for a fine dining experience, I get ready for the expensive, small-portioned dishes, but as long as the flavour is there, I don’t mind. Unfortunately, everything we ordered was pretty underwhelming. The carpaccio was a bit too thick and therefore chewy. I ordered the lobster ravioli and was told it was a starter size and asked if I wanted to change for a main size. - I said yes. It was nice but lacking texture and seasoning, and the quantity was half a dozen raviolis. I wonder how much it would come had I ordered starter size? My husband’s scotch fillet was tough. He didn’t dislike the dish, but it was only ok. Upon paying the bill, I learned that my ravioli went from 36(starter size) to a whopping 55. We appreciated the anniversary treat we got and the excellent service, but sorry Ostro, we won’t be coming back.
J.
Really good dishes. The Scampi Ceviche was outstanding. The staff is very kind, although they seem not very well prepared. Very few option for vegetarians. The view is okay, but not extraordinary. It is pricey, but it is worth visiting.
C.
Amazing service and amazing food! Great date night location!! Would definitely come back again!
F.
Food was good but had to wait a long time. Beef wellington was average only though but probably coz we have tried Gordon Ramsay's!
L.
Tasty Chicken parmigiana and Flounder both cooked to perfection. Tuna tartare entree - brilliant. Great place for a business lunch - wait staff efficient. Cheeseboard well presented but not much cheese variety. Cinnamon donuts - yum! Bar has lots of variety.
P.
I thought Ostro was amazing. It had excellent views, and the food was superb. I was in a group of people, and we had the 4 person seafood platter. That was a really good choice. I enjoyed it very much
About the only down side was that is was in the CBD near the bottom of town. I had to go to three different car parks before I could find a park (this was near lunchtime on a week day). I find parking issues in the CBD a detractor from visiting the area these days.
A.
Great food and lovely service. Pity we were too full to try and scrumptious desserts
T.
The service was great - staff were very accommodating to us with 2 very young children. The good selections were excellent mainly showcasing seafood and our NZ grass fed meat. Love the kids menu . Had spaghetti bolognaise for my daughter. Children meal came with our entree which was great consideration. Both children enjoyed the house made spaghetti however it was a little tough for a 3 years old and a year old children. While me and my husband enjoyed both the starter and entree. I had the lobster and snapper pie while my husband had the 90 days beef. My lobster was over cooked and had advised the staff who offered to change for a new one but i didn't want the hassle just for their note. Both my children savoured the pie though they were full . Love it! We finished te evening with the classic creme brulee my husband's favourite . Overall enjoyable will bring our parents over Christmas dinner.
J.
Fantastic food. The wait service was amazing and one waitress in particular I think her name was Karen who served us was second to none. We were looked after so well and I think the staff went above and beyond
Y.
I went to Ostro Brasserie & Bar with my friend on Friday evening after one-day trip to tiritiri matangi island. After a whole day of walking on the tracks in the island, we were hungry. We passed by Ostro, checked the review, and decided to walk in then got a windows table with good view of Marsden Wharf for 2 persons. As we didn't make reservation in advance, we were told the table should be back to restaurant by 8:00pm. We were ok for that. We ordered a Seafood Platter(2 prawns in medium sizes, 4 batter oysters, 3 tiny cubes of tunas, 3 thin slices of raw salmons and some unknown raw fish strips) for 2 and a main course - pan fried market fish. Overall the food quality was good. The staff was extremely busy but nice. The only thing I want to remind the visitors is to check the menu , its price and the quantity of each serving or plate of food item so that you know how much you should pay additionally for the good view.
V.
Great friendly staff, great views, perfect seafood platter, add the crayfish it's a must
K.
Great bar. Many different spaces to play in. Great for groups.
M.
The entrée was a little salty for my taste - South Island octopus. Main was nice and the desert delightful. Desert was meringue covered with toasted coconut. The view of container ships was rather unflattering in a cloudy day, however loved the open windows and the deck.
S.
Creative menu and perfect execution. Truly elevated fare. Had a great time interacting with Peter the sommelier. He made great suggestions, had us taste various NZ wines and even made winery recommendations. .
We had a great time.
s.
Service was excellent. I had the wagyu burger, the bun left lttle to be desired. It was dry and tasteless, the bottom half soggynfrom the dressing. The dressing was enevenly spread and put together was very messy. For a burger fuel burger, maybe but very dissappointing for this level of restaurant.
B.
What a lovely place! Open terrace bar :)
Food is amazing and so is the service, one of my favorite places in Auckland.
Whether you want to go out for a drink or dinner, highly recommended.
This is one of few places where you will find good crowd.
Forgot to mention they have beautiful selection of drinks, don't forget to check their drinks menu!
M.
Great service, wonderful Harbour views and the meals was amazing...will definitely bring my family
D.
Fantastic food....really something special. Could not fault one element of any of the dishes. Great service and great atmosphere but really it's all about the food. Outstanding.
K.
Love coming to this place. Amazing views and food is always at a very high standard. Could never resist their seafood platter as it is super yum. Staff is always friendly as well
G.
Really impressed with the service. Turned up on a busy night and had a table 'created' for us. Food was fantastic. Atmosphere was awesome. Great place.
S.
Really lovely service and food, ambiance was great, my only complaint is that the macaron I had for dessert was so stiff I couldn't break it with my spoon and it was difficult to bite into.
K.
I don't visit the CBD often, so when I do I want to make the make of the trip. There were 6 diners in our party. We we warmly greeted by the staff on arrival and ushered to our table, Then then hard choice and discussions began, what to order. After several visits from the patient waiter we finally had our selection. He kindly offered to talk us through each dish and explain what they were.
Although we did share most of the dishes between the group. I really enjoyed everything I tried.
Looking out over the harbour was a great backdrop to a great meal. The staff were very helpful and knowledgable. The only slight downside was that once we moved out to the firepit for coffee's we had to open a new tab. If it was added to the table bill it would have been a perfect evening.
I have found excuse to venture into the CBD more often
J.
Top class service. Great Menu, Food and Location but the chairs at our table offered zero support and after an hour my back was killing me. I thought it was just me and my dodgy back but my wife mentioned it as well. I wonder how many other folks would of spent more in this awesome restaurant if they were a bit more comfortable.
L.
Lovely, tasty food. Was everything I anticipated for seafood. Was a bit disappointed in the veggie serves with the mains. Service was excellent. Scenery - beautiful!
A.
Perfect plzce for perfect dinner wifh a very nice harbor view.
M.
Disappointed. Expected more from expensive restaurant. This one doesn't look attractive to eat it.
D.
We had a fantastic dinner/drinks last night. The food was awesome and the crew provided excellent service. Would love to dine again 😊
C.
Genuinely worth every cent, the food was cooked to perfection and full of flavour. We had 8 dishes/appetizers between us and they were all fantastic.
R.
So far best birthday 🎉 experience
J.
Omg! What a taste sensation! Magician Daniel and his team do wonders in the kitchen plus have a lot of fun serving up some amazing delights! Loved the lobster ravioli, roasted eggplant but the compressed stone fruit dessert was like a fabulous party in my mouth! Complemented by a glass of Donna Fugara recommended by Lorenzo. Beautiful view and buzz - I highly recommend!
R.
Great food - great service - open late.
J.
Always good food and service. Nice view of the harbour. Seafood here is excellent and raw fish options. Awesome wine.
S.
Waitress was fantastic. Was a little surprised we had to pay extra for salad or vege to go with the main.. food was beautiful if you have a big appetite the portions aren't very big
C.
Great staff made me feel at home and welcome. Food was awasume
K.
The service and food was outstanding....
S.
My daughters took me for a mothers day indulgence on Saturday and had their Mothers Day Lunch experience - absolutely fantastic - well done to all of the hard working kitchen chefs and overall staff who made it an experience i will treasure - roll on fathers day when we can do the same again.......
G.
My girlfriend and I had the best experience at Ostro. Of course the food and ambience was sublime. The service from the staff was excellent and sets it apart from other restaurants.
A.
Good food as expected, they didn't seat me where my online booking said it would, and it took ages for the waiter to notice us, but once he did, it was great service. A good night let down by the start.
c.
Amazing food, very tasty ! If you like meat, try the Angus beef with the delicious homemade bearnaise !
You will probably wait a little before catching a waiter to order some drink/food tho... it's the only downside.
But I highly recommend this restaurant
A.
Was disappointed in the service we received, particularly as we were there celebrating a big milestone. Food was good but slow to come out and overall wait staff didn't seem very attentive
C.
The view is fantastic, but the food is moderate.
M.
Great location, terrific menu, and literally the best burger I've had in my life. There are plenty of other "real" entrees to choose from, but try and get at least someone at your table to get the burger.
D.
Went for the Beef Wellington, left underwhelmed. Pretty average effort. Service not much better. Better options in Auckland for the $$$
C.
Great atmosphere and varied menu. Say or on the deck in the evening which was excellent. Very attentive staff, always happy to fill up my glass!
K.
Can be quite expensive, but you pay for complex ingredients and flavours. Great tasting food. Every time I have been here the service has been great.
S.
The food, service and view make for a perfect Spring time spot. Looking forward to a lot more visits in Summer!
A.
Stunning food and wonderful service. Had a great night with my wife.
Y.
Great food, definitely worth to try. Great service and views as well.
R.
Fantastic food and service. Can't wait to come back
N.
Excellent food and service but somehow lacking the wow factor that makes you want to go back for more. That sounds harsher than it should - Ostro really is a great restaurant and well worth a visit for any occasion.
C.
Nice food but thought portions a little small on lunch set menu for price. Great outlook over the Harbour.
K.
Excellent food always at Ostro, particularly the seafood. Kingfish Crudo, Ceviche, and tuna fresh and delicious. Service friendly, but can be a little erratic. Tough to beat for casual dining with great food.
T.
The burgers are off the chain! Love it!
B.
Loved it. Great food and exceptional service . Great place to have a meal while enjoying the harbour view . Can highly recommend.
R.
Food was inventive and well prepared. The chef was very engaging as were most of the staff. Dinner was somewhat diminished by a very pretentious waiter.
A.
Tasty food, great setting and atmosphere. Thought the service was a little slow hence the 4 stars. But would recommend.
N.
Never a bad experience here. Often extremely busy on weekends, so be prepared to put your name down on the list and grab a drink somewhere until they call you. Well worth the wait if you have to.
A.
Ostro has amazing food, a great atmosphere, friendly and professional staff and one of the best views in Auckland. We will definitely be back!!
p.
Had a lovely meal there, loved our window table, good wine selection, and not over priced, hence we had 4 bottles, and taxied home.
R.
Good food, service great with nice atmosphere. Only slight negative is pretty noisy when busy. Small trade off for a great vista!
J.
Lovely meals and drinks with a beatiful ocean view. 🥂🍾🍷
M.
Love this place. Great food and quantities and amazing views..
S.
Beautiful view of the port. Nice food. Enjoyed whatever was ordered. Great service by the staff.
B.
Hidden gem down by the water. Great views out to the Harbour and sheltered balcony on the other side. Good selection of beer and wine. Would definitely visit again.
R.
Good restaurant with a very interesting menu. Atmosphere is fantastic and Ostro has good bartenders. Food is great
F.
This event was a fantastic occasion.
Wonderful music, great company.
Great way to mix and mingle with all ages, that love music
R.
Ostro is not really easy to find as the entrance is discreet. When I wanted to make a reservation there was no answer to the telephone. This venue has lots more potential.
J.
Great bar and restaurant environment overlooking the habour. Kids and family friendly. Food is pleasant but not overly memorable.
N.
Amazing food! You need to try the octopus and the beer batter oysters
L.
Beautiful food and views. Very professional and friendly staff.
The gnocchi and the (seasonal) hapuka tastes amazing.
Very impressed.
S.

Great service, the half roast duck was crispy and tasty. The whitebait fritters were generous with whitebait and full of flavour.
J.
Outstanding food and service, happy staff who seem to love what they do, wonderful vibe, even the music was at the perfect level. Perfection
S.
Great place to enjoy a high tea with a group. Venue perfect on the water and staff give excellent service. Definitely recommended.
E.
Great cocktails - bartenders know their craft well. Service is friendly and light. Nice view.
V.
A little disappointed upon entering the establishment thinking it more a brasserie than a bar at 7pm
on a Friday being hit with a night club environment complete with the dull base pulsating away.. the waiting staff did their best in a challenging environment attempting to hear us as us them..... the venue obvious the "to be seen place" in Auckland. The entree including a deep fried element which was overcooked and appeared to be just "plonked" on the plate along with the other entree elements was disappointing as for this I mark a "3" the main course was a lot better though presentation once again a little lacking and the accompanying dishes of asparagus (ok) and lettuce salad "vingarette" dressing! had the feel of lack on finesse I would mark this a "5" In between courses the waiting staff were excellent correcting cutlery, refilling water glasses and topping up wine amongst other duties for the waiting staff I mark "10" Dessert I had a cheese board and once again disappointed insofar as the cheeses were lacking in quantity and presentation and the manatory grapes presented looked as though they had just been pulled of the vine and I detest using this phrasing once again "plonked" on the board.... My overall dining experience a "5" My closing comments is this a Friday night dining experience or is it an eat and dash.
A.
Great staff...fab drinks and if you forget your luggage they happily look after it until you turn up for lunch the next day!
D.
Delicious food, great service and wonderful view! Thanks for the free mothers day bubbles. Recommended 100%
T.
Good food and great location. Nice staff also. But it is a little bit too noisy
M.
Food is really great! But the tables and chairs are too crowded. GETTING out was a challenge without having to bump into others. And
A.
Lovely food, just wish they would stop asking if everything's alright and if we'd finished when we trying to catch up over dinner.
S.
Great friendly staff food was good the starters amazing

J.
Great for drinks, quite expensive for dinner, but they have affordable bar food. Nice balcony as well 👍
S.
Sweet view. Drinks are a tad pricey but I guess that just Tyler St prices. They did lobster rolls which were ok
R.
