I took a group of retired ladies in for dinner. They were great with catering to my Gulten Free lady, we all order something different from the menu and were all super impressed with each of our meals. The Tiramasu was amazing. And the service from our waiter completely made our evening. We'll definitely be back.

I've been here a couple of times with my partner and both times I've been thoroughly impressed. For starters, the atmosphere is quite nice. We have sat both in the outside area and inside. The owners have made two nice areas for enjoying your meal. The staff are extremely friendly and accomodating and the food arrives at the table quicker than most restaurants. The prices are slightly cheaper than other similar restaurants. The one thing I was really impressed with though, is the policy that gluten free pizza is available for no extra charge. I don't have an intolerance, but this just struck me as a very kind thing for the restaurant to do for people who usually have to spend a lot more on food. So if you're gluten intolerant, this is a great place for you to go!

Had a really lovely meal here. Lovely spot and food was amazing. Must try the mussels! Staff and service was great. Excellent little spot. Fitout could do with an update but hey not fussy for a little local. This place is also on uber eats. Only other down comment would be dessert prices at $10.50 although the serving was large you could share easily.

The pizza was passable however the pasta was disgusting. It tasted like the bottom of the sea. The pasta sause was more of a soup, extremely watery and tasteless. The staff were friendly, and the place was crowded so I have mixed thoughts.

We went there with our 3 month old baby and bit nervous to dine in … but staff were amazing and made us so comfortable!!! Loved the caramel onion bread and the pasta will definitely visit again.. 😊

Lovely friendly service. Pizza was great. I had vegetarian pizza. Loved the good amount of topping. The pizza wasn't too salty like in most of the pizza places. Will be back again to try more out of your menu.

It was our first time at Scalini's and we are hooked! Will definitely be back! Our waiter Andrew was on point with his recommendations and we loved his caring and humorous approach. My partner had the lamb shank and he said it was the best he has had in many years, so much that he called his mom after dinner to tell her about it (as she loves lamb shank) The caramelized onion bread was amazing, I could have it every day. My pasta was awesome and I honestly can't wait to go again and try a different type as they have so many options. As a Mediterranean person myself, I can't recommend this Italian restaurant enough, a true gem!

15 of us went for Sunday lunch. The place was packed, many large tables celebrating something or other. Amazing how they can get food on the table without a long wait. Most of the meals were excellent, there are always some exceptions, people just make the wrong choices, those who ordered steak were not disappointed. It has a great atmosphere with a very easy listening band. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. No corkage (we did consume an awful lot of wine between us!) The prices are also very good. We will be back.

Excellent antipasto followed by a cappiciosa pizza on a thin, slightly crispy base. Very helpful waiter with a good sense of humour! Plain, but comfortable seating out in front and under cover.

Our family often goes to Scalini's after the Thursday swim in Kohi. Their pizzas are great as well as pretty much anything else on the menu. Staff is always very nice and welcoming!

Decent food, great host, no corkage, what more can a girl want? Marriage and a Mercedes apparently, but that's why I'm still eating the tasty pizza and she's *missing * in the gulf.

Not the best Italian I've had, but friendly and family friendly (judging by at least half the customers). Generous pasta servings. I had the risotto special with snapper. Rice was stodgy but nice and lemony. Part of the snapper was burnt but still delicious and good size. (Not too much rice is good too). Had to try the Tiramsu. Absolutely excellent! Came with an unexpected scoop of delicious vanilla ice cream that was more like sorbet as it was not too sweet. Unfortunately the whole thing was drowned in chocolate sauce over all of it. Otherwise v. good. House Italian perfectly drinkable and good value. Call it a 3 or 3.5 out of 5. Staff actually asked if things were OK at least twice. Could always be better but also could be worse! (It's not).

We had a Birthday meal there for 8 people. Was pleasantly surprised by the high level of service. The owner was front and center making sure everyone was being looked after. The staff were very attentive and professional. We bought our own birthday cake which was kindly taken to the kitchen to be brought back at the end of the meal. The BYO was a bonus (no corkage). The food was better than average. Everyone at our table had a great time. Thanks Scalini's.

Great place and great food... been going to the ellerslie place now for a few years and never an issues. Would ask one thing... could you please go back to the full cardboard pizza box.. the new one sporting a plastic viewing hole now makes the pie a little soggy......thanks ... and will see you again soon

We are regular patrons of Scalini's and we love the food, the standing around for the take-away to be readied, the lovely waitresses running around the regulars who dine-in. It is the ideal location for an easy, relaxed 'sit at the waterfront' dining experience. This is a traditional Italian place, where Time stops for the folks to eat. The food is wonderful, the outdoors experience magical as is all of St Heliers. Heck, if someone wants to grouch about the "speed of the service", there are plenty of fast food outlets that have drive by service. This ain't one of those.

Scalini’s is our personal favourite restaurant in Auckland. They make the best Italian food. I have never been disappointed with their quality and service. Give them a try. 👍🏼

Good place to relax and meet with friends. The pizzas are good. Looking like they are italian rather that usa made. The decor inside is a little drab but this did not affect the meal or experience in any way. Scalinis have a BYO licence and there is a bottle shop just down the road so the experience doesnt coat heaps. The staff are very friendly.

Amazing customer service! I was next door in the sushi shop when my husband came walking up from the beach with our 3 yr old daughter who had fallen on the oyster covered rocks and had a large gash on her shin and a bleeding toe on the other foot. The owner of Scalini’s immediately came out and brought a bucket of warm water, clean cloths, and plasters to patch her up. He even gave her chocolates to help with the tears. We weren’t even customers and he showed us so much kindness. Next time we are in St. Heliers, we are coming back here for Pizza! Thank you again!!

The food was extremely hot, also the bowl for the pasta, too hot to touch. Rocket salad was just that, no vinaigrette, and just put on top of the pasta. Service was good, waitresses were very attentive.

Hey Nick Morton, I can't respond to your review but wanted to let people know that my 15 year old boy works at Scallinis for Michael and loves it, he definitely pays tax, Michael wouldn't let him start without the tax number, we really appreciate him giving him a go as he had no experience and is basically training him! He makes our son work hard giving my boy a great work ethic which is important for kids these days. We've lived in the neighborhood for over 15 years and the reason he wanted to work there is because we have often dined down there and love it. This is a local business so please get your facts straight before you post on pages like this.
