Best fish and chips I had so far from all the places I tried in NZ. The dishes are big and delicious and not pricey at all. I will absolutely recommend you give it a try if you are in Orewa area.

The Pork ribs are a real treat. The ambience and the friendly service, prepares one for the quick delivery of a full plate of juicy ribs fries and salad. Delicious. I regard this restaurant as our first choice Place for a quality meal at the right price. Thank you Monica

I have to say this is my favourite restaurant to dine. The staff are wonderful and welcoming and the food is superb using fresh and quality produce., anything chosen off the menu is always cooked to perfection and well presented and delivered to your table within a reasonable time frame. Good drinks and food. We had BBQ pork ribs and lamb shanks. Both nice dishes. BBQ pork rib sauce was okay but slightly sweet and blend for our tastes. Lamb was quite good. Good service. Friendly but not over the top. Cozy spot for a nice relaxing night out!

Good food, good portion sizes for the price. The service I was impressed with - offered extra bbq sauce when the waitress noticed I was adding ketchup to the ribs, and a bowl to wash hands with afterwards. Very friendly. Not 5 stars as the ribs could have been marinated and cooked a bit longer, and the fries were ok but not great. Worth coming back to though for a relaxed lunch or dinner.

I had a very good time during my last visit with some friends and the food wasn't too bad either. A lovely place for a catch-up, not too loud like some other places where you leave with a sore throat from all the shouting to be heard above the nose. We had a young waitress who was quite funny and who seemed to never have tasted any of the food... don't restaurants explain to their staff what each item on the menu is about? She was funny though and made it a pleasant experience and I'll be back soon with my friends.

Staff was great and the restaurant was clean. The food was just ok - I ordered a rare steak and it was well done (maybe medium right in the middle of I'm being generous). Not bad, but with heaps of other choices around I don't think I'll be back.

Yum! I had the chicken fettuccine, good amount of pasta, chicken and creamy sauce. Came with 2 bits of garlic bread and they were also really good. I will definitely order from here again 🤤

We had lunch at The Ship and Anchor today for my Mums 86th Birthday . There was a group of 6 of us and everyone commented on how delicious the food was ! We had everything from pizzas to fish & chips and prawns- all were excellent quality and beautifully cooked ! The staff were very friendly- service was efficient and all our meals were excellent value for money!

Celebrated my ..86 Birthday lunch with family yesterday. We all were impressed with selection of delicious hot meals served together by polite staff member. The meat & chicken especially were so tender. We will definitely return again for future celebrations. Thank you for a very pleasant venue. Pauline T.

We had a fantastic Dinner here Sat night, the Sea food Chowder was tops, & the sea food pizza really a gd one. Wld recommend this place to anyone with very friendly staff and a good place to watch the All Blacks match. What a grt night, thanks to the Cheff & staff.

Nice meals, would definitely go back again

Our late lunch was absolutely beautiful. Crumbed mushrooms were divine. My girls loved their prawn quinoa salad and chicken fettuccine. Service was great too. Thank you

The best filet mignon I have ever had in my life!!! The dish was so tasty. Highly recommend going here. The atmosphere was nice and our waitress was really lovely!

Great fast service how ever my meal wasnt to flash. Ordered the seafood chowder and while it was fresh and hot the mussels had baby crabs (not nice to crunch on which put me off) and there was a couple of randome skins from prawns. It was very sweet but a lot of pepper or the likes at the same time. Will try again but with a different meal.

Had our grandaughters birthday here. Food was yummy a huge improvement since last time I visited. Maybe they have changed ownship. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I had amazing pan fried King fish, and my partner loved her steak. The staff were SO friendly and accommodating (especially with our 3 year old). I would definitely dine here again.

Relaxed casual dinner destination. Off the main drag so things are a little quieter. Food was on point for a pub-style menu. Pretty good value for the plate size and good quality. Ribs aren’t your typical southern BBQ style, but slow braised with some crazy chilli oil. Different but good none the less. Service was prompt and friendly. Good option for the unadventurous eater.

Lovely staff amazing food

Had a family birthday dinner on a Monday early evening here. Very friendly staff and the food was real good; especially the seafood platters. We had added oysters and the chicken skewers to the platters and there was more than enough for 7 adults and 3 kids. All the food was cooked perfectly and piping hot. The place has a nice atmosphere and a cosy open fire, well priced too.

Food tastes ok, however too salty; coffee is bland

Sorry guys, but only 3 stars. Pan fried fish was boiled rather than fried, and grilled vegetables were 100% steamed not grilled. Location is good, wine was fine, staff was lovely.

Absolutely Awesome , been here a number of times and always impressed . This time the sirloin steak was even better the sauce was delicious my Mum had the catch of the day she loved it. The waitress was excellent And thanks to Gee for the great service.

Very nice food. Good friendly service

Dropped in for lunch today with a friend and decidded on the seafood platter to share. It was fabulous. Beautiful fresh fish, tender calamari, plenty of prawns, mussels and scallops. Also came with side salad and dipping sauces. It was just right. The only thing we felt was missing was maybe a few chips. We told the waitress that it was great even tho we didnt have chips. Next thing she delivered a bowl of delicious beer battered crispy crunchy fries with compliments. Thankyou so much. Made our day. Will see you again! 🤗🤗🥂

As soon as you walk in the entrance,you are welcomed with a smile and excellent service. It is a warm and cosy atomosphere. The presentation of food looks Amazing.👍 The taste of brilliant master chefs.💯 Absolutely Delicious and Tasty fresh flavours.Colouful dishes. We had the pleasure of dining here Sunday 20/01/19. The food was lip-smacking delicious...'10 outa 10 for the hamburger' ( crispy bacon and perfectly toasted bun) The staff were absolutely lovely and very patient with the kids. Impeccable service with genuine smiles.

Food was delicious. Went on a Sunday and the special roast lamb with thyme and lemon gravy was lipsmacking good. Staff were superb, decor needs a bit of a shuzz, but did not detract from the meal.

Delicious food. Great service. Friendly efficient staff. Manager came to check if we were enjoying our meals. Excellent atmosphere, and value for money. Both the Seafood Platter and Prawn and Scallop meals are highly recommended. Looking forward to our next visit.

Varied menu with daily specials, happy hour 4-6, great food at reasonable prices, the coldest beer I've had in NZ so far and the staff were friendly and helpful. Very happy we decided to eatthere and will definitely return next time we are in Orewa

Over Sixtys group went there for our Christmas luncheon. Very quick service. Did not wait long for our meal at all. Friendly helpful service. Only open for our group, which was great.

Great portion sizes. My brother could barely finish and that’s a feat! Tried some of the lamb shank and it was melt in your mouth, lovely winter meal. Pleasant atmosphere and quiet enough for easy conversation.

Yum food here. I had the steak which was cooked nicely and the chips were really good as they were nice and crispy. The dessert here is really yum as well. Great service and a nice and relaxed atmosphere. The menu has quite a good variety as well.

I ordered catch of the day and it was absolutely delicious nice portion of fish with potato and some steamed vegetables. Very tasty. We also ordered feta and olives there was plenty of olives for 2 of us. Cesar salad was also very very tasty

I took my Gregarious Grannies Group to Ship and Anchor Yesterday to celebrate the 90th birthday of one of our members .Everyone enjoyed their lunch and there were definitely no complaints . The Prawns were lovely as was the chowder and fish and chips .Chicken salads great too. Much improved since we were last there a few years ago. Great Food ,Great Staff. Very enjoyable . It was a great venue to hold this as we are inclined to be a bit noisy when everyone is talking . We will definitely return again soon.Will also bring the not so Gregarious Granddads next time too.

Great feed of fish and chips good night out if you're looking for a no frills laid back pub style meal.

Very generous portion of beautiful fresh catch of the day. Pan fried kingfish filet. Friendly service. First class with a very reasonable price tag. Unfortunately a few months later we went back and the restaurant was redecorated and it looks now like an old McDonald's outfit. The owner totally wrecked the nice intimate atmosphere so we didn't go back again.

Decent food, reasonably priced. Had the burger and a glass of wine. The beer list was nothing to write home about, and vegetarian options were very thin on the ground (1x salad and 1x pizza). Otherwise solid and worth visiting if you're not after anything fancy.

Had my son's birthday celebration here. Outstanding food....enjoyed their steak and pork ribs. Staff were so friendly and nice.

Was here a couple of weeks ago when visiting family in Hatfield Beach we sat outside for some breeze it was hot my Chicken Salad was delicious my husband loves pizza he was not impressed his base was like cardboard my sister n law who has been here many times said it has changed hands last year, I'd return here but I would definitely not order Pizza

Went there on a Monday to celebrate our lads 18th birthday. It was three quarters full and atmosphere was super. The service was excellent and the food 1st class with a varied menu that would appeal to everyone. Only negative is that some of entrees and mains were a tad expensive for pub food in Orewa.

Food was decent, particularly considering the reasonable prices. Service was very good, restaurant was clean and interesting, and not very noisy even though there were quite a few diners. Great location too.

Me and my girlfriend went together. Both got Pizza. She got the vegeterian and i got the prawn. Both were equally amazing and delicious! Amazing food for relitevely cheap prices! Highly recommend

Friends scotch fillet was nice.My prawn salad was not..too many bits and pieces in it ie,tinned asparagus,pecan nuts???Lettuce was wet and limp..dressing tasteless and 4 king prawns with a few tinned shrimps in the mix...☹

Well the environment doesn't taste highly ... but the food... wow ... seafood to die for. We shared the chowder and fisherman's platter and loved it all. Great service too!
