Came to celebrate anniversary and ordered the tasting menu. Good part is that the presentation of each dish was good with thoughtful and matching plates, and a free starter and a second desert were thoughtfully provided as a nice surprise. But the flavor of a few courses was below expectation, with the spices being too strong to blend into the whole dish (appreciate its Indian inspiration) and the temperature being too hot or too cold when served (one of the cold dish was even a bit icy that it numbed my tongue for a second). Drinks were exceptionally expensive with no reason. Interior of the restaurant was below expectation of being a fine dining place.

Overall, my girlfriend and I had a good time at Sidart, but I do think the reviews are a bit overrated. We had the seven course degustation. None of the dishes were particularly inspiring or memorable. In fact, the dessert was so sweet, I didn’t finish it. The service was nothing special either - we were rushed through the dishes. The waitress started pouring the wine for the second dish before we had even finished the first dish, almost as if rushing us to eat faster. I would probably have paid about $75 per person for this experience, but definitely at $175 per person, I expect better than this. One thing that I definitely would award 5/5 stars for is the wine pairing. We paid for the premium wine pairing. It was a beautiful selection. Each wine not only paired with each dish very well, but they actually elevated each other. I recommend paying for the premium wine pairing if you come here.

Ambience The ambience of the restaurant was serene with sky tower view Food Quality Customized India fusion food stimulate your taste buds. Must explore their designer menu. Lamb was soft and nicely done Their beef cutlets are the best that I have tasted. Venison cones were palatable. Staff Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Really liked their attention to each and every table. They will explain every food dish after serving. Price It is value for money restaurant. Way better than other fine dine restaurant serving Indian cuisine.

The degustation menu here is mind blowing! Inventive flavour and texture combinations and beautiful presentation. The space is relaxing and the staff walked us through each course, answered our many questions and were attentive without being intrusive. They even brought out a birthday treat for me. A must-visit for foodies.

Been here a few times and if you want a fantastic fine dining food experience, then it’s worth giving this place a go. Food is presented immaculately.

I don't want to try to describe the food at Sidart, it would take away from the wonderful experience of eating and tasting it. So I'll just say that the wine is winey, and the food is delicious and the staff are lovely, and not do any of them justice at all. I don't even tell them the foods I 'don't like' (it's a long list) because they make everything taste good and often my favorite dish of the night is one I would never have ordered based on the ingredient list. It's the kind of pricey that means we only go on special occasions, but totally worth it. If you're considering going to Sidart, stop considering and book!

Sidart was an absolutely magical experience. A true fine dining experience with beautiful AND delicious food, knowledgeable staff, and phenomenal wine pairings. They make you feel so welcome, and offer a beautiful view of the city. The food is literally next level. Presentation is gorgeous and it tastes like 5-star food should taste. What magic.

We went to Sidart to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It is located at Ponsonby. It is a bit hard to find for the first time, up stairs of a small mall. Greeted by helpful and friendly and staff upon arrival. We chose 3 course a la carte. Their dishes are unique and interesting. Some dishes are quite spicy so it is not everyone's cup of tea. It was a nice experience dining at Sidart.

We purchased the 4-course take-away menu for our anniversary a week ago. It was absolutely delicious. Easy for my son to prepare for us :) and it felt like we were in a nice restaurant. 10/10 Highly recommend.

I was definitely spoiled last night!! This fine dining restaurant was an amazing experience from start to finish, omg! 8 course Dégustation Indian fusion. Such flavour, creativity and every dish was on point delish. And I was absolutely lucky enough to have Sid himself come out and serve the mains out WOW.....this man an his award winning restaurants was super lovely and what an incredible experience! Honestly amazing, highly recommend. 10/10

What an amazing experience - beautiful location and atmosphere! The food was mouthwatering and delicious, flavours were great. We were a table of 4 with Sidart's 5 course tasting menu. A must visit restaurant in Auckland for the service and food.

Absolutely wonderful evening with Sidart; service was impeccable, almost every dish was perfect and the ones that were not, were still great. Great flow to the meal and really fun and interesting wine pairings, mostly from around New Zealand (which was great because it's a wine region I'm probably the least familiar with). All servers were nice and presented the dishes well. Truthfully, we had almost no complaints at all, especially when it came to the price tag. The price with gratuity was around $350 USD for two people, which may sound expensive to some, but is a downright awesome deal for an exquisite multi course meal with wine pairings that is at this level. Absolutely recommended.

We went to Sidart for lunch and enjoyed a 6-course vegetarian menu. This is my first time trying Indian fusion, one of the most impressive meals I have ever had in Auckland. The service is great, the food is creative and delicious, and the introduction of each dish is great. I often find vegetarian dishes in high-end restaurants that lack flavor, but this is not the case in Sidart. I really like Sid's excellent Indian flavor of local New Zealand ingredients, which is really a unique dining experience.

My first experience of Sidart and It was everything and more. To the warm friendly greeting, intimate setting, relaxed vibe and a full vegetarian degustation - it was pretty special. Would I recommend it - yes Would I go again - yes Is is one of the best fine dining experiences I've had - yes! Thanks for such a lovely dining experience, attentive staff, and faultless vegetarian food - would give you a 6th star if I could!

Amazing meal experience here once again. Chefs table gives the view to be able to see how much care and attention goes into the plating and presentation of each meal. Highly recommend for that special occasion.

We’ve had a pleasure of dining at Sidart on a number of special occasions for the last few years and they have been consistent every time. I’m usually picky but I would always eat whatever they serve in their degustation. Food and service are exceptional.

Absolutely incredible!! Every single time, incredible. This is Indian (inspired) food like you've never had before. Service is fabulous. Food is truly inventine and incredible. Been coming here for the last 8 years and it delivers every single time. One of the best restaurants in Auckland, even New Zealand.

The service and food from start to finish is simply superb. I can not fault a single thing. We went for the premium wine to accompany the dishes and they really do compliment every single dish. We each had individual dietary requirements and these were met with no issue at all. We sat at the Chefs table and it is well worth it. Not only do you get to meet the amazing people behind the dishes but you also get a very personal experience. I can list each dish and how amazing it was but there is no need. We have been to many Michelin star restaurants and this is the best we have ever been to. If you are in town then you need to eat here. If you have space, have the cheese course, it is something special. I absolutely and hole heartedly recommend this restaurant.

This is the place if you want to have an elevated dinning experience! I highly recommend the five course menu, the portion is very suitable and the food is really delicious! The super friendly and knowledgeable staff makes the whole experiences even better! I’ve been there to celebrate birthday and they did great job in arranging a birthday dessert!

What a looooooonnnnngggg dinner time experience!! Absolutely loved it. Degustation menu is fantabulous and I would 150% recommend this to anyone who love unique tasty flavours. Staff are absolutely friendly. You are made feel comfortable. Hospitality is 5/5. Food arrives one after the other and your mouth will be travelling around in this new world of delicious food. We went in thrice for vegetarian degustation, when it is Chef’s special Menu. Love the combinations of the flavours and you don’t find words to express few dishes, how super good they are. Interesting!! Keep rocking guys..

Possibly the best restaurant in New Zealand.

Perfect evening, every course was different, service was fantastic, treats in-between were refreshing. Loved the spice of the savoury dishes and they cater to different dietary requirements. A discovery menu experience I recommend to everyone, treat yourself to something different.

At last, somewhere in Auckland to compete with Clooney. Excellent service, a pleasant atmosphere, and and a fine range of tastes for sophisticated palates. The wine pairing was on point. Enjoyed every second and looking forward to returning.

I would give it a 4.7 review if I can, but not full mark to my standard. they are just not there yet. We tried the Seven Course Tasting dinner . it was a good combination of food and creativities. Service was nice enough we were thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A truly enjoyable fine dining experience. This is our second time to Sidart and they've transformed their menu to be more Indian Fusion focused so expect a fine use of spices in most of the menu. Every dish served on their discovery menu was either great or outstanding and there was nothing left to be desired with service. A highly recommended experience for anyone seeking Indian fine dining which can be hard to find.

Fantastic 7 course menus on a Saturday, great wine recommendation, absolute delight in a relaxed but night level atmosphere. The Indian inspiration is in all dishes, delicious but light, just wonderful.

My partner and I ate here last night and chose the 5 course degustation menu. I find it hard to describe all the meals as there were just so many components to each one! My favorite was the kingfish, crab, cucumber dish and my partners was the John Dory with a cashew sauce and soy gel. Service was excellent and overall had a great experience with awesome food. Highly recommend.

The most beautiful, flavoursome experience. We're not food snobs but we love great tastes and boy this packed the punch. The service was fantastic, every dish served was fully described and I would highly recommend a booking at Sidart. They quickly responded to a cancellation within a day, there was no pressure to order, the atmosphere and views were enjoyable. Go and enjoy.

I couldn't believe how nice the food was and how kind the staff were at Sidart. What a wonderful experience. Everything we ate was so tasty and interesting, and the way Indian flavours and textures were woven through the meal made it incredibly memorable. If you're new to fine dining like me and perhaps a bit nervous about trying it or a fussy eater, then I can't recommend Sidart highly enough. They are extremely accommodating about dietary requirements, and even preferences. You won't have to eat anything you don't like. For example, I can't handle uncooked fish, and swapping out the first course was no problem whatsoever. I also really liked the space. It was a comfortable place to be. Bring back carpets in restautants! Sidart proves it makes a huge difference to the intimacy of your dining experience.

Nice place for a small group celebration or if you are in the mood for a special dinner. We went as a group of 8 and took our young kids. Ordinarily, I avoid taking my kids to semi-fancy dinner locations, but Sails is an ideal balance of formality and relaxed atmosphere. We knew that we were going somewhere special and SidArt totally lived up to our expectations. We had the seven course tasting menu with wine matches and they very happily adapted the menu for me and my dislike of seafood. It was absolutely no problem. The staff and the service were top notch as well and we were presented with a beautiful copy of our menu at the end of the meal. Just to top off the amazing experience I found that they have a staff member monitoring the bathrooms to ensure that they are always beautifully clean and tidy. That really completed the experience for me.

Ate here last night and can’t stop fantasizing about the whole experience! The ambience is cozy and modern. The staff is friendly and informative without being stuffy. And the food is both gorgeous and delicious. We had the five course tasting with premium wine pairings, and left totally satisfied without being too full. Not only do I highly recommend, but I’ll definitely visit again.

What a wonderful restaurant and dining experience. How lucky Auckland is to have such a talented chef resident in here. Each dish is crafted to visually delight and each dish delivered a unique and delightful experience. The serving staff explained what it was they were serving, clearly and accurately and then professionally disappeared. Ive eaten at very good restaurants around the world. I haven't eaten better more interesting food and flavours anywhere. The wine list was also excellent with excellent choices by the glass. So was the service exceptional. There are many restaurants that deliver very good to excellent dining experiences. Sidart does exceptional with a plus. I can't wait to dine at a Michelin Star restaurant so I can understand what must be a beyond the exceptional experience. While Sidart is different from what I experienced at the French Cafe, the quality is rght with the French Cafe. I can't wait to go back again. Has the wow factor. I loved it.

We usually go to Sidart once a year for a special occasion. I was interested to see how it would be after taking over the french Cafe. It didnt disappoint. We did the 7 course dinner. The flavours were amazing in every single dish. In my opinion i think it's superior to the French Cafe. We'll be back

Had a truly excellent fine dining meal last night. Very allergy friendly too. Great staff that explained every dish of lovely Indian fusion food that we were eating and its not every restaurant that can casually mention that they've just whipped up a coconut jelly to compliment your snapper crab when the dish contained a soy component. The whole meal tasted excellent and was complimented by seamless service. Loved it.

Went there on our 5th wedding anniversary. Customer service was spectacular, everyone was very friendly and helpful. Food was intriguing, different and extremely tasty. We had the 5-course meal and it was a treat for the senses. Highly recommended if you're willing to treat yourself.

We have been waiting for a special occasion so we could try out Sidart, but being rather impatient, I decided a special occasion wasn’t needed and made a booking. Oh my goodness! I’m so glad I did! Dining on the discovery menu at Sidart on a Friday night was so worth the wait and every mouthful was exquisite. The service was exceptional and the city views are rather special, too. I highly recommend you don’t wait for a special occasion before dining at this fabulous restaurant.

Wonderful experience, exquisite fine dining Indian fusion food. We had the 7 course degustation with wine pairing and it was truly exceptional.... for me the stand outs included the john dory with macadamia cream, the venison vindaloo and the beeswax ice cream. There was only one course I wouldn't rave about and it was the saffron mango dessert, which I found a bit bitter. But everything else was absolutely sensational.

Food: 8/10 chicken broth was quite bland while lam, goat just overpowered with spices and a bit salty sauce. Other dishes are divine fortunately. Service: 8/10 staff tend to rush through the description of each dish. Would be nice if you take your time to explain and show your passion. Settings: 6/10 settings are quite disappointing, you don’t get the feel of a luxury, high end restaurant. Decoration is quite plain. Plus tables are placed quite close to each other. As a result we could hear the couple sitting next to us slurping the food quite aggressively (must be starving). Ye I guess a little privacy would be appreciated. Plus just have some sort of subtle dining etiquette mentioned somewhere upon booking or in the menu would be nice.

Heading off to London for 3 weeks cried out for a good evening out with my ever tolerant mom. For some reason we’ve never found our way to Sidart so it was a well overdue visit.We chose the discovery menu and were not disappointed. An array of wonderfully inventive dishes perfectly matched with local and international wines. Every dish was a surprise and the carefully chosen and hard to fix wines competed the experience.The service was impeccable and Matt (I hope I’ve got the name right) was superb, pacing the meal perfectly and sharing the stories behind the food and the wines.

Best restaurant in Auckland IMO! I'm not a foodie like my partner is. She's a fan of fine dining and has been to all the 'top' restaurants in Auckland, French Cafe, Clooney's etc. and Sidart is her number one by far. As a non foodie, I am blown away each time I go there. The staff are great, very attentive, but not over the top, and very polite. But the food, wow! I don't even bother to look at the menu, as even if I know what it is, it is always a surprise. Such amazing textures and also mixed with hot & cold, sometimes on the same plate. It is like a new experience for my taste buds every dish, and often, every bite, but it all works perfectly. I LOVE going to Sidart and can't rave enough about it. My partner took me there for our anniversary, and they made a special effort to make it a great night, and it was. I can not recommend this place enough. Other top places do fairly normal food really well. Sidart is more like, they will give you something you haven't had or even thought to have before, and make it taste amazing. Dam, even their bread with it's smoky flavour was awesome. All i can say is go there, you will not be disappointed.

A cute little restaurant tucked away upstairs in an unassuming arcade in Ponsonby. We went for the "experimental" degustation menu at lunch on a Friday - it's more reasonably price and was less busy. The dishes were beautifully prepared and presented - there's definite Indian influences on the flavors. While one or two of the dishes did not quite work, the rest of the menu more than made up for it. We had a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes and the wine pairing was perfect. The service is quiet and understated - we had a friendly, knowledgeable waiter with a rather impressive hipster twirly mustache. :) The waitstaff was attentive without being intrusive. The ambience isn't spectacular - perhaps it works better in the evening than in the daytime. It's a small restaurant and feels a little dark and bare at times. The view of the Auckland skyline is pretty if you can get a table (one of two) by the window. If there's one thing the restaurant ought to do to improve the experience, it would be to spruce up the restaurant deco. We've been wanting to try out Sidart but they are closed late December to early January while we were there previously. If you're traveling from overseas, it's worth checking ahead of time if they are open.

It's an experience to have food here. Wonderful and variety of foods presented in different ways you couldn't imagine and it tastes great too. Expensive, but worth what you spend.

As of now I've eaten at 3 different Michelin star rated restaurants and a few places that I feel deserved the designation. For what I look for in fine dining, Sidart is perfection. Every one of the ten courses was impecable. The wine pairings were among the best I've ever had. The courses we're diverse, flavorful, well balanced, and executed flawlessly. I've paid twice as much for meals half as good. If you're in Auckland and you don't visit Sidart you're doing yourself a disservice.

Came here for my birthday last night with my family and the food was amazing and so filling! It was such an amazing experience that I will never forget. The staff were so friendly. And the amazing view of the sky tower from the main dining table was another bonus! It was all worth the money!

The Maitre'D was exceptional, and the food beyond delicious. The mushrooms, eggplant and fish were so spicily tasty, and the serving of beeswax with the cheese really appreciated. A beautiful restaurant.

My wife and I are more accustomed to fast food than fine dining. But It was my wife's birthday, so we decided to be fancy and we were not disappointed. We were blown away by the Chef's Table experience so much that we have been back a second time. Every plate that comes out is phenomenal. From the 'snacks' to the main courses to dessert. Each meal is masterfully pieced together and their wine pairings are sensational. 11/10 We will keep returning as the menu is always changing and consistently spectacular.

Incredible. Be prepared to have your palate tickled and come with an empty stomach. Every course was beautifully presented with exquisite combinations of flavors and textures. The atmosphere was cozy and wait staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Perfect date restaurant for a special occasion. The meal is set for each evening so there are no decisions to make. However, they did ask us beforehand if we had any dietary needs. This restaurant should be at the top of everyone's list.

You could count on one hand the number of restaurants in Auckland with true 5 star service and food. This is one of them. Those of you potentially worried about spice, don't be. The flavour combinations are amazing and only the odd thing is spicy. I'm getting hungry writing this review. Expect to pay around $150-200pp if drinking and cutting loose with the menu. Worth it.

Sidart was absolutely spectacular! It's the first Chefs Table I've ever done and thought it was worth every penny! The food was out of this world delicious, and there's so much of it that I thunk I needed to be rolled out! Jason was our Head chef and he was delightful. Answered any questions, was super friendly, and keeps that kitchen running smoothly. Hannah and another girl were our wine pourers and they were very informative on each course. We will 100% be going back!

My partner and I visited Sidart last year for our 4 year anniversary. The food and wine pairing were delicious and the staff made it an extra special occasion for us! A must try for any millennials celebrating a special occasion, or daily for those who can afford it. lol

Perfection on a plate! Well, actually, on five plates! We recently dined at Sidart on their delicious 5 course menu and had an amazing time. The wait staff and chefs did an incredible job catering for a variety of dietary requirements and every meal was amazing. We will definitely be back to try the 9 course menu next!

Date night at Elemental was such a treat!! Sid and Ben Bayly serving up the most delectable treats. Every time we venture into one of Sids restaurants you leave feeling unbelievably spoilt, the bar continually raised.. masterful

Amazing food and service. There is off street parking which is what we used being a Wednesday night. It wasn't too busy, booking are a must. They asked for any restrictions of food/allergies and we were off on a food adventure. We had one vegetarian and 2 meat (no beef, no pork) and they were able to wow us with each course. The 5 course felt like a 7 and was filling at the end. A great romantic night, a celebration it just any reason to take your taste buds on a ride.

This was my first time dining experience and for me, it was fantastic. The service was impeccable and our server was a genuine, attentive, and interesting Scotsman. He kept our pace reasonable and really took on our responses to each course. We did the 15 with 9 pairings. I really loved the texture of the kumara puffs and wow, that parsnip ice cream. What a night! I would love to return to Sidart.

Our usual dinner or lunch place. Super quick and delicious food. The taste hasn’t changed a bit for the past three years. They do really quick delivery with uber eats too. Never been disappointed by the food or excellent customer service. Very valued money

Excellent fine dining, great wine degustation matched menu. Bit pricey but definitely an experience of unusual favour combination that just work superbly in a plush environment with excellent service educating you on each course.

Wow..food, service and great wine! Take along a big fat wallet though! I was really excited to finally try Sidart's Tasting Menu. The waitress was great. My partner and I had the 5 course and they gave us different dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The service was impeccable and the food almost as good as the waitress. Can't wait to go there again once their menus have changed.

My husband booked Sidart for our wedding anniversary so we went even though I had the flu and didn't feel like it but the food was so different and delicious I perked up in no time.The italian maitre 'd was incredibly knowledgeable and fun . Nearly all the staff had served us by the end of the night and they could all answer my numerous questions about the food and wine in a friendly professional way. We thought all the matching wines were excellent and luckily received a menu with their names at the end of the meal . The combinations of flavours was quite bizarre but they worked .My husband even liked the daikon,avocado,nam jim, comte, date, sumac shitake, white soy ,kaffir lime entree and he hates dates which was most annoying because I wanted his one as well. This is a great restaurant if you want something special and food that is quite unique.

Best meal I've had, ever. I'm pretty sure the chef is a wizard, and the service was so lovely and polite. The only downside is that the meal takes about 3 hours, with lots of waiting in between. Still 5 stars and would not hesitate to recommend!

Really an enjoyable fine dinning experience, it is recommended to order the pairing wine. The night we spent was very GOOD, we been served two extra deserts, greedy but enjoy to the very last bite.

Sidart is consistency creative. They have an exceptionally high standard. It is a strong contender for best Auckland restaurant. Wait staff are given more freedom than at other fine dining establishments. I’ve seen tattoos, a nose ring and a moustache. I find it slightly more friendly and relaxed. The standard of food at The French Cafe is possibly higher but you will get more variety at Sidart.

Our Degustaion menu was phenomenal. Such Creativity in food. Top Notch. Flavours were amazing, and while some sounded far out, they worked, and worked well. Service and attention to detail was absolutley fautless. Yes you're paying top dollar, but getting top dollar product for it. This Fine Dining Food Snob was thoroughly impressed.

Food and service was great. Asking for a credit card to secure the booking so you could be charged a cancellation fee if you cancel was a bit on the nose. There are plenty of other restaurants that are successful without doing this.

This place is almost like a well kept secret because of its location, but what a surprise once you find it up the stairs, slide the door open and walk into a place filled with couples dining away with their pinot noirs, bubbles, ladies delicate jewellery catching the dim lightening of the place not to mention the various colours of the sky city tower far away yet almost close enough to have a presence - no doubt that adds to the already romantic atmosphere. On our arrival we were greeted by our names as we had made an online reservation, the online reservation was followed up by a telephone call from them; the staff are very friendly, smiling and always professional, very knowledgeable in the food that was served, more than happy to almost give you the recipe for the food they served us, they knew each dish in and out. We enjoyed the 5 course, initially we thought it may not be filling enough – but we were proved wrong. It was more than enough with portions just the right size. The food was delicious, each plate that came to our table we marvelled at the presentation, it was like each dish had its on story to tell, each dish unique with flavours, exotic tastes and it looked so beautiful that one struggles to disturb the story on the plate. Fine dining at its best, price is what we expected for the experience. The only disappointing thing about this place is the fact that they have Foie gras on their menu.

Lovely degustation menu! Went there with friends for dinner and had a very pleasant evening. Amazing flavours to tantalise the taste buds with wonderfully complimenting wines. Especially enjoyed the truffle butter! Great ambience and friendly service, a real experience.

Had a fantastic modern food experience for lunch. The decor, ambience, waiting staff & especially food were absolutely deletable to say the least, everything about Sidart was served to us on a plate. To be up & stay with the modern standards of today's cuisine & ambience is exactly where Sid has arrived at. His restaurant is definitely on par with some of the best restaurants in the world including that of Jacques Peppin or Thomas Keller two Master Chefs of the food industry across the globe ... Service, as should be expected in a place like this, was second to none. Including the food. There, moments of amazingness blurred into a cacophony of confused flavours and face-distortions. Thankfully texture was not used unnecessarily, with any foams/espuma adding something. Most dishes quite salty, but that may have just been our menu (7+ Valentine's). Atmosphere is inviting and homely, and a nice view out over the city from the unexpected position on the second storey of East-side Ponsonby Rd. Will be going back to try again, perhaps for the experimental Tuesday, or maybe the champagne Friday lunch. Recommend.

Had a wonderful meal here with an important client. Yes, it's rather expensive, but the tasting meals are superb, matching wines excellent and the staff are amazing. A real treat.
