VALUE: ⭐⭐
SERVICE: ⭐
PRESENTATION:⭐⭐⭐⭐
QUALITY:⭐⭐⭐
CLEANLINESS:⭐⭐⭐⭐
This was my first time at Sushi train as I am new to Auckland and love a good sushi train experience! Sadly, I was confused on how to order. After we had been in there for a bit, I was finally asked if I'd like to order anything, but this was the only time I was asked.
I think we were meant to order on a piece of paper but there were no pens, and I didn't feel like sharing pens during meals in covid times.
I was seated right next to a huge pile of plates which made me quite claustrophobic. Overall the restaurant not very lively, and it felt rude to talk because it was so quiet.
The sushi was really nice and reasonably priced. The sushi chefs were friendly when handing us our meals.
My partner and I got the fried chicken, which we thought was expensive. 4 pieces had chewy, inedible parts, and one of mine had a bone.
I don't think I have ever spent so much money at a sushi train before ($24 for 8 pieces of sushi and some chicken pieces). I think I will go elsewhere next time.
S.
Been a few other times and those times were pretty good. This time we could tell the wait staff were a little inexperienced, inattentive and easily distracted with chatting among themselves. Once you can get their attention, they are able to help.
This branch is more expensive compared to the Chancery sushi train, however, there are way more exciting options. I would say there are close to double the options available here and they are all delicious. Plates here range from $3.50~$8.50, where the Chancery branch has a flat rate of $4.50 on most dishes. Expect to spend on average $35-40 per person without alcohol.
J.
This place is awesome.. tho can get expensive quickly as there are so many dishes to choose from! Staff are always friendly and helpful
S.
Yum!!!!!! Fantastic service and delicious food!! We had n absolute banquet of choice and the ramen soup and soba noodle soup were so flavourful!!!
Will definitely be back 🍣 🍜
K.
Wonderful food and services every time. I like to bring my kids there. Sometimes you will need ring to make a reservation. Also sometimes you will have to wait for the dishes you are after. I waited for 30 mins for dumplings. The parking is a nightmare!
H.
We've always loved Sushi Train and this Sushi train I will give a 7/10. Very friendly service A+++ location is okay, hard to find parking or parking is very expensive otherwise.
R.
Food was good but drinking water was not clean. There was something floating in the water. I noticed it after drinking it! They changed the glass after I informed them.
J.
Great spot for what it is. Had some very fresh yellowtail. It was so clean and slightly sweet. Also had a very nice raw clam assortment. Would probably suggest skipping the hot items unless you see them bring it out. Had beer on tap and nice cold beverages. Would definitely come again.
J.
Not Bad…….!
M.
We love Sushi Train being a Sushi lover. Apart from the great food, the price is super reasonable. It’s one of our go to sushi restaurant in Auckland. Our family frequent the one located at Chancery St. Auckland CBD. The food is presentable and they have wide range of sushi as well as they offer small bowl of ramen. The price range from NZD3++ per plate. The place is very neat and the staff are very friendly. This time, we tried different location the one located at Viaduct. The place is crowded. There were lots of people dining in. We had to wait for about 15-20 mins before we were able to sit. They have a wide range of choices too,but I still prefer the one in Chancery St. The staff are bit slow compared to the other locations. And we felt a bit discriminated. We got a different treatment from the rest of the diners. We ignored it since as mentioned we love the restaurant. I would also say, the price here is somehow higher compared to the other locations. Nevetheless, we would still visit this but would still frequent the Chancery St. store.
C.
Awesome sushi! It's really cool to see the chef's making the food in front of you and putting it on the train. There is nearly always your choice of food on the train and if there is not, the staff will gladly take your name down and bring it to you immediately when it's ready. Also also the food is amazing!
Z.
A very nice restaurant! The lady just explained to me patiently what's in the sushi. Although the sushi restaurant is very busy and we have to wait a long time, the sushi is delicious! I became a fan of this storexxxxxx
R.
Pretty good. Sushi are great, however there were no ventilation on that hot day :/. Could be more pleasant experience if it is provided
E.
Great selection of dishes freshly made!
Staff here were friendly and happy to make up dishes for you. Great spot to visit for a chilled out vibe.
j.
Love this place, it's got everything! There's a limited amount of seating, so check Google for when it's not busy otherwise you'll be waiting for a while. Pricing is reasonable, service may be lacking a little, but food is good.
e.
Tastes good. A bit pricy. Have asked the staff for a glass of water. They are nice, but they are very busy. It took a bit of time for me to get the water I asked for.
K.
Good food and great service. However the price is bit high and the portion size is super small compared to any other sushi houses in Auckland.
P.
The service was a bit of a let down, perfectably understandable with staffing during current traffic light settings, but the taste, presentation and quality were definitely upto the mark 👍
K.
Great place, fresh food and ready to order too. A bit pricy for the portions but overall good
H.
Fresh sashimi and nice quality sushi, always good to go.
M.
Love it. When I arrived at the establishment, there is a queue but not that long. The staff approached and explained how long I am going to wait. Their prices are very reasonable given to the fact that the good is great. The staffs are great. I enjoyed eating different types of sushi while watching the staff making it in front of me. I like the ramen also. I'm gonna recommend Sushi Train for sure to my friends and relatives.
J.
My wife and I visited for dinner before attending the Lion King Musical.
Conviniently located close to the waterfront. The sushi was good and reminded us very much of our time in Japan. We had not experienced good sushi in New Zealand since our return from Japan, and the sushi here was comparable. Very pleased and will definitely return for more when we visit Auckland again.
R.
Friendly chef, fresh and tasty sushi and speedy service!
M.
Was so yummy and delicious we so enjoyed it
H.
Love the experience of food coming to your spot on a moving track! Good food for a snack time party!
D.
Nice sushi place right here in the city centre. Decent quality, very good selection and reasonable prices. Pity that they don’t have proper online orders with all the lockdowns in Auckland, but here’s the takeaway menu if anyone needs it
M.
Great sushi. Well priced. A default go to when can't decide what to eat
J.
Love sushi Town for a family lunch out. Everyone can choose what they feel like or order off the menu if the right things aren't coming round. Good selection of drinks too.
R.
So cool!Fresh food and great service! Came twice, will back again
T.
My usual go to place for some quick bites before going for a swim.
E.
Been here twice with the girlfriend and it’s a great place for a date with good food. It has a fairly good selection of sushi but lacked some of the dishes I was looking for. Overall good date spot and spot for lunch but wish there was a few more options
S.
Was a great food experience. Lots of beautiful looking and delicious tasting food. It's hard to pick my favourite dish but the crispy salmon skin was a highlight. Will be going back again.
H.
Great location and fast, friendly service!
Due tot he time of day I was dining, everything was made to order and absolutely delicious. One of my favourite sushi spots in the CBD.
C.
Been there twice. Large selection of sushi and deserts and other Japanese dishes. Every plate I've ordered have been delicious. You can even order noodles there. Friendly and helpful staff. Only reason why I gave it a 4 star is because it's quite pricey.
K.
Delicious and polite staff.
We are a Young Maori whanau of 2 adults and 3 little ones, and to have a little padded section for the kids to do art & colour while us parents get to finish eating was lovely. Fair pricing and great quality of food. Would eat there again in a heartbeat 💓
T.
A great place to eat, staff were friendly and helpful as well. Food was hot, and we got to sit in a good spot, will be coming back again thanks
V.
A friend of mine and I first discovered this place back in 2006 and would have totally given it a 5 star if ratings were as common as they are now! I visited today again after many years, and to our surprise, this place is even better than I remembered! Ok the volcano went from $5.5 to $7.5 but I think $2 increase over 15 years is totally acceptable. 😁
R.
Wow must say that "our lunch" was awesome...different, choices, please read, eat delicious, but costs are very much worth. Food was no what I expected...but would say, go an realise buy your taste. Wow
R.
The quality of the food is superb. Authentic Japanese culinary skills, selection of very good produce.
Ample space.
Staff are welcoming, friendly and accommodating.
Very kid friendly, with a little corner setup specifically for kids to play while parents finish off their meals.
Looks like a takeaway joint in the photos but it isn’t, it’s licensed and has some of the freshest sushi I’ve tasted.
P.
Pleasant experience eating at this place. Staff were great and food tastes pretty nice.
Arrived pretty later there so items on the train thing wasn't as varied, but you can always order directly and the experience was very good.
S.
Really enjoyed the Scallops volcano and salmon roe sushi.
S.
If you are looking for authentic Japanese sushi in New Zealand, Sushi Train by the Viaduct is the restaurant for you. The chefs are adept and friendly, and the sushi are always fresh and delicious. However, the prices have increased dramatically over the past two years, and if you're hungry, your wallet will lose weight after your meal. I would like to visit the restaurant more, but the prices are now far too frightening.
T.
went on Saturday, waited for about 10 minutes for table for 2 which was reasonable given Auckland was still at level 2 at the time. not much on the display so had to order from menu. food was good. friendly service. second time there, good experience. will go again.
K.
Favorite place ever. I first went here when I was 8 with my dad. Now I take my husband and it's a tradition now when ever we go to the city. Sometimes we even travel 2 hours from home just to go here it's that good.
Amazing food. Lovely atmosphere. Surprisingly affordable. It's not like a cheap lunch place if cheap for u is $5 for lunch. But $20 per person is decent in my opinion. Love the ice cream balls in rice dough and the crunchy rolls.
Cant wait till next time
M.
Excellent service, everything fresh and yummy
J.
Good sushi and good variety at reasonable prices.
E.
I don’t say this lightly when I say that this place if honestly one of the best sushi places I have seen. I have been a regular for a number of years and the quality of food and service never fails to impress me. It’s unthinkable quality for the low price. Love your work!
A.
Been there three times. People are different and their greetings get louder. However the sushi, for which I am there jn the first place, is always fresh, tasty and comes in great variety.
Only problem is, as a group of five we always spend around $130.
I would defined Italy recommend this place and will also visit it again.
A.
Very good sushi here, they will make to order. Pleasant staff, no complaints. Can get busy so you need to time your arrival.
K.
Came here for my birthday, loved it! Loved the food, fresh and made to order, a good selection of seafood. Staff is attentive and friendly. Location is great. Go for a walk by the harbour after dinner ends a beautiful day.
M.
Food and variety is great but the service is a bit lacking. Had to go and get the servers attention a few times to get some drinks. Such a novelty for the kids, they love it.
S.
Good food and service. Staff were very friendly
M.
This place is really nice most of the time, but don't go near the end of the day unless you want to order from the chefs rather than choose from the belt, which becomes sadly depleted.
N.
My new discovery for trained sushi outlet. Foods are fresh and the restaurant is run by Japanese.. Absolutely important for me! I joined the loyalty program for rebates. Try their best priced sushi for your best seafood adventure. Sea urchin, snow crab leg, lobster salad sushi, few different raw prawn sushi, choices also available for different raw fishes, squids, soft Shell crab, clams etc..
B.
If you want a diff sushi experience, this is the place to go. Only problem is what time to go, if you go at a quiet time like my visit, they don't put much new dishes up and you end up order from the menu. Also the price is on the expensive side so it's really your call to see I'd this is a place worth going.
K.
looking for sushi in Auckland and found a casual sushi store, probably one of the closest sushi to what I know as sushi from japan. The people working and making are Japanese, and will make sushi to order with lots of variations. If you are tired of teriyaki and salmon avocados, things defiantly one of the place to give it a try.
Not the most impressive, but very polite and clean.
C.
Bit of wait - granted we should have booked, also think we took longer to be seated due to a birthday party which lingered a bit
Food was good - service was great & we had a good time
D.
Had one of the best sushi here. Maybe because of the fond memories of our nice trip through New Zealand.
My wife still talks about the (I admit, not really sushi) crispy chicken rolls
A.
Reasonable Prices ($3 per tray - special - today only) and good selection.
Japanese sushi is generally sweet and very high in sugar/carbohydrates.
J.
Tasty and fresh is the way I found Sushi Train today. Plenty of interesting dishes going by in the lunch hour. As usual could not stop eating. Will be happy to go back there some time soon. Raw beef strip sushi was my favourite and a little uncommon at sushi places i find. Yum
C.
They serve various kind of dishes with full of taste. Clean and kind place to have some sushis and light Japanese food.
However price is a downside of this place.
FYI, my bill with 2 children and my wife was around $300.
F.
Good variety. Happy to quickly make you any plate on the menu which was not on the train. Their katsu bowls were also very good and well priced. Definitely recommend it.
B.
Probably the best sushi I've ever tasted (and I've had it all around the world, except for Japan). Friendly staff and nice, clean space. It almost makes me wish I lived in Auckland... almost. ;)
J.
I hadn't gone to a sushi train in years! It was fun choosing what we wanted to eat. The staff were happy to make things we wanted from the menu that wasn't on the train. Easy experience
K.
Fantastic food and staff. Great vegetarian options. Very busy during the week for lunch (advise booking even if just 2 people sitting at the train). Dinner busy too. Very warm inside, could do with a/c.
v.
I love this place food is exceptional always! such friendly staff, I wish we had one in taupo, it is always our 1st stop when we come to Auckland and always my lunch stop no where else, I even try to get early dinner in to, my fave is the seared scollaps 😍 I get so excited every time, Don't ever go changing :) Thankyou to you all you do such a great job :)
I.
Very authentic food. It's reasonably priced. Their friendly service makes it a fun place to relax. The kids menu is great. I loved the scallops & unagi. We'll be back very soon!
A.
Not bad to compared with the other sushi shop.
Still so expensive and food was served so cold on the train in a long time. Despite of good spot, there is not many customer in lunchtime but i give 3 stars, because staff was so kind.
J.
Still great after several years, seared scallop is very tasty. However the volcano is not not what it used to be.
Good range of items. Price is about $70 dinner for two people, excluding drinks.
R.
Great wee place very friendly staff. Greeted everyone on arrival . We did have to ask what to do as had never been before. The food was yum and very filling. Nice to do something different for lunch although it was a little expensive with drinks.
J.
A little expensive, but have huge variety of different options with fresh ingredients.
E.
We love Sushi Train. This is our go to place after a dip in the pools at the Tepid Baths across the road. The sushi and other dishes are always fresh and delicious. The kids love it here.
G.
Come here for their salmon volcano. Often not on the belt so needs to be ordered. Very good sushi and service, can end up hard on the wallet though.
J.
Delicious place for lunch! Not many vegan/vegetarian options but there are some. A bit pricey but very yum
K.
Very friendly service from the wait staff. The Sushi tasted fresh and was enjoyable however, I would have liked to have seen more chicken options coming around. It was mostly seafood choices.
V.
The food was average. The prices were reasonable for Auckland. But the pieces (both sashimi and rolls) were tiny. Not a bad option in a pinch but I wouldn't frequent it
A.
We got here later I guess and didn't think they had all the rolls out. It was good, but the portions were on the smaller side. I guess that just makes you get more plates.
D.
Great and fresh sushi! Cheap but high quality. But when it was busy, the order came out slow and no sushi was running on the sushi train wheel. But other than that great.
T.
Always busy. Staff really attentive and accommodating. Lots of different options come around on the sushi train so there's always something new to try.
W.
Great and fresh sushi! Cheap but high quality. But when it was busy, the order came out slow and no sushi was running on the sushi train wheel. But other than that great.
M.
Great place for some good sushi, the salmon boat just melts in your mouth.. sometimes have to wait for items due to the train being empty but the staff are friendly and are happy to make to order.. does taste better that way 👍
R.
Great sushi always fresh.
Great service
Consistently Good never been disappointed.
Always clean and inviting
S.
Fresh, delicious, beautifully presented. Clean and quick. Great for a lunch in a rush
S.
As always , excellent food - great variety of dishes & exceptional Miso soup .
Highly recommended A+++
I.
Good quality food with a large range on the train. Specific orders can also be made. Mix of savory and sweet food avaliable. Staff very friendly.
Play by the plate.
j.
Came here for the $2.50 anniversary day! Service always on point even tho wait time was up to 2 hours! The sushi was fresh and made to order! So worth it!
F.
Awesome food unique dining
P.
I guess this is still a novelty to me. The food is pretty good but the opportunity to see a wide range of food before choosing is fantastic. Problem is you tend to have eyes bigger than your stomach. That can lead to a large bill at leaving time.
L.
We always visit Sushi Train when in Auckland. The range may not be impressive during quieter times but most of the items can be ordered. Might not be a great idea to put the items that are meant to be hot, on the train when it's quiet - they just go cold and soggy.
́.
Its bit overpriced. Get ready to be bankrupted!
D.
Delicious creamy sushi, great miso soup, and super, super friendly staff! I forgot my backpack there, and one lady ran after me in the street to return it!
Arigatō :)
M.
Great sushi and affordable small plates of food. I always love coming here.
C.
The food was IMACULATE, the tiger roll was a personal fave; so good would defiantly go again
P.
Not cheap if you are hungry, because you select options up to 7.5$, but food is delicious. Good fish!!! Really nice tampura. Try all options, because expensive are not necessary the best.
L.
It's a fun experience coming to sushi train, but the food is a little overpriced for what it is and the range is a little lacking. I'm glad I went, but I probably won't go again.
H.
Amazing place for sushi. Variety and delicious! And if you really like particular sushi but it's not on the train, you can order it from the chefs and they will make one for you!
M.
What a spread of delicious, authentic and professionally served Sushis 🍣 really Yummy and reasonably priced
m.
Super friendly staff and kid friendly. Sushi is always on point, and super fresh!!! Highly recommende
T.
First time experience in a sushi train restaurant, totally loved it. Staff are super friendly and the choices of food is absolutely amazing.
G.
Staff is very friendly and service is great but sushi quality is not that good, considering that it's a bit pricy.
T.
Good selection of sushi, nigiri and side dishes plus they have small portion noodles that satisfy your noodle cravings and still leave plenty of tummy space left for sushi
M.
We had a variety of dishes and all were delicious and fresh. Staff was friendly and attentive.
K.
Favourite place for sushi. Staff are always friendly and attentive.
E.
Whats not to love about a sushi train, a bit on the pricey side but the happiness of the staff to make specific dishes is brilliant and appreciated.
M.
Food was yummy. But there was lack of dishes clarification. Names were missing on the dishes. Happy and bubly staff. Overall good experience.

Sushi was ok. Comes round on a converter belt like To Sushi. California roll nice and fresh. Not bad for a quick bite.
A.
Underrated here, I just want everyone to know about this place, its delightful! Karaage chicken rice bowl is my go to ALWAYS
A.
Love this place! We go there every now and then. The food is really good so as service.
👍👍👍👍👍
W.
Yummy sushi, good wide selection, seats are kinda cramped and if your sitting on the outside the walkways are a little small but yummy good...
A.
Always a relaxed Sushi Train experience, staff are friendly and helpful. Will gladly return
b.
Love the sushi here. Great customer service.
M.
Generally shy away from conveyor belt restaurants, but this was exceptionally good. Highly recommend this place. Food tasted very fresh.
K.

K.

R.
Has been awhile last time I when back to this place, the Sushi and service are awesome, everything I have request was fast and understandable, would suggest friends and family to go.
c.
I come here when i have craving on shoft shell crab. Tried to visit another branch around high street and never able to find it so i always end up here, it's great.
R.
Fast pleasant service, many standard tasty options, fairly reasonable prices. Not fancy, good for a quick bite and a place to sit and relax for a bit.
C.
This is our favourite place to go. So many flavours and very friendly staff. Love the greetings when we walk in and thank you's when we leave.
F.
First experience. That's not to bad, sushi is good, very fancy. The ramen is super.
N.
The food was delicious! Waiting staff were efficient and it was great watching the food being prepared in front of us.
c.
Super good quality sushi, great variety, one of my favourite lunchtime places to go.
K.
beautiful sushi - a bit more expensive than Wellington prices.
N.
Yum food. Good service. But I'm a larger group would have been better with more bothing options
V.
Plenty of options, good price, good quality, staff was nice. I always end up having more than I should which is not a bad thing.

Great food and lovely staff. Would recommend
M.
The restaurant is pretty good. I just don't like their unagi sushi, but that is my favorite actually.
N.
Typical merry go round sushi bar. Good udon and nigiri sushi is average.
L.
Amazing sushi. People complain that it's too pricey, however, it's worth every penny! Fresh, authentic and excellent variety!
A.
Always love bringing the family here for lunch and for the first time our boy ate the raw salmon sushi. Amazing!

P.
Its ok but its nothing special. Far fro. The vest sushi and the sushi bar lacked variety

Always fresh and delicious with great service
L.
It's a fun experience coming to sushi train, but the food is a little overpriced for what it is and the range is a little lacking. I'm glad I went, but I probably won't go again.

R.
Food was 4.5/5. Service was 2/5. I really enjoy the food here, high quality sashimi and Nigiri. The chefs knew what they are doing and are fun to watch.
Wait staff is trying their best and overall doing a good job. However, the person counting up your plates needs more training. The receipt leaves no trace of what was charged and I'm pretty sure they were wrong (was in a group that needs a split check). The person doesn't communicate at all and it's very confusing.
s.
The staff good attitude and yummy sushi, I will come back next time!
K.
It was great! The chef was hyping us up to eat the fresh dishes he put on the train. The fish was fresh and we had a great time.
Food comes really fast.

(Translated) Super excellent, they use their heart to serve the customer, fresh sushi, reasonable price, good service, I am in here in the noon on Sunday, Chief petty gril and cool boy, Japanese style, real Japanese to open this restaurant, highly recommend , I try different Japanese restaurants in New Zealand and this one is one of the best in here, some sushi open by Korean or Chinese, but not really good, this one is a real manage by Japanese. I feel that Japanese to do the restaurant is better than the other countries people. Come to try, and hope can hear your voice same as me.
Really delicious, made by all Japanese. I tried different sushi restaurants in the center of New Zealand. Only this one tastes the same as sushi in Japan. Maybe better than some sushi restaurants in Japan. It is strongly recommended. It is worth eating. Basic Six-star rating can be given

真超美味,全日本人制作,我試了紐西蘭市中心不同的壽司店,只有這家是與在日本食壽司味道一樣,或許好過在日本裡某些壽司店,强烈推介,值得一吃,基本可給予六星評分

(Translated) Can you please have more waiters? There are only two people in the front at noon, what's the use of the four sushi chefs, please have more people! ! !

(Translated) I think it's a sushi restaurant near Britomart's station. There is always a Japanese-speaking staff. Sushi sushi is fresh and delicious, but the price is high for us Japanese people.
