Fish and Chips was not too salty nor too bland but perfect. The crispy noodle salad dressing was also very nice. The lemon lime butter glass was humongous and we loved it. I will definitely visit again with my friends next time.

Nice portions, nice ambience. Fried chicken was sub-par, not worth the $55. Strawberry cocktail was too salty. Cracking pork had nice portions, basic flavour. The platter kind of disappointing as difficult to share, not much creativity.

Very great restaurant in NewMarket. Went there with my family about an hour ago. They had amazing service and very kind waiters. The vibe of the restaurant was also pleasant surrounded by fake vines. The food was tad too expensive (but that is to be expected in these times). I had the loaded tacos and they were delicious. The nachos came served on top of a huge hunk of chicken schnitzel. The location was also in a good spot as well. It was at the very top of the mall. There was also a playground right outside for the little wee ones to play around. The only bad thing was that the toilets were outside the restaurant, but there was one disabled toilet inside. Also the mall was very confusing to navigate, but that's not the restaurants fault. I enjoyed this place and I hope to come back some day. Thank you!

Thank you so much to the staff here! We came fairly late on a Monday evening and were turned away from other restaurants due to the time. We were a small party of 6 celebrating a birthday and engagement and happened to stumble upon The Bavarian. Without knowing we were celebrating these special events, the staff were all warm and welcoming. They all greeted us with a smile and would make their rounds ensuring we were happy with our food. The food and drinks were delicious and presentation looked amazing. We will definitely be back! New favourite spot!!

Great friendly service. We didn’t book and got to sit outside. It was too cold for my liking so I asked if they could find a place inside. The friendly waitress found a cozy spot at the bar and it was perfect 😍 the food was close to the German flavours. The schnitzel sadly wasn’t to my liking but everything else was very tasty. The location is great, it’s the first time discovering the rooftop and I was pleasantly impressed. We will come back for sure!

Had dinner tonight with some friends and we were served by the loveliest waitress. She was absolutely awesome and super helpful especially serving a large table. I didn't catch her name properly but i did manage to catch the fact that it was actually her first night on the floor, apologies if I'm wrong but i believe her name may be Shrila? My friends and I were super impressed! Thank you for the great customer service :) She's definitely a keeper

The tasting platter is a must try if you haven't already done so. Everything in that tasting platter is amazing! If I was 10 years younger, I would not be sharing the platter with anyone. My wife and I enjoyed the meal very much, too bad we were not able to order more. In saying that we will definitely be back to try the other dishes. Oh and service was excellent, friendly, and attentive. Absolutely enjoyed it.

Rooftop dining at Westfield Newmarket. Booking is essential at night and weekends, as it is often busy. We ordered the signature tasting platter, spicy calamari and the buffalo wings to share between 4 people. There is also a Kid's menu. Beers 🍻 come in 500ml or by the stein 1 litre. Friendly service and live sports being played in TV.

Amazing food and an array of different options to suit different tastes. Loved the option of making your own salad. Get a sheet to pick from a large amount of options. Was lovely and fresh. The cocktails were also tasty. Staff friendly and efficient. Potentially could get noisy here when busy. Was a quiet, early week night that I visited. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Did the all you can eat night and was surprised at the quality of the food. The schnitzel was perfect, the sausages were yum. Possibly the pork belly was slightly dry, but don't let that put you off. Great night had by all

There are a lot of authentic Bavarian items on the menu to choose from. The meat portion sizes are very large, and the pork knuckle and chicken param were well cooked and juicy. Service is also excellent, they were busy when we went for Saturday lunch yet the food did not take long to arrive. The sides could be better though - there was not enough potato mash, and instead of canned sauerkraut they could have made some nice blaukraut. Still worth going back to.

This restaurant is quite impressive - my friends and I had a great time here. Order a schnapps shot - the toffee one is very tasty. We went for the Best of Bavaria set menu and it blew our mind - we were not prepared for the generous amount of meat, meat and more meat. It was amazing and not to mention scrumptious - in fact we needed doggy bags! Everything from the set menu was yum. We also ordered the mac and cheese balls which weren't that impressive so probably won't order them again. Other than this, the staff are friendly and helpful and the location is also great. Good place to park your caboose for a meal and drinks after shopping till you dropped.

The tasting platter was perfect for two. It was an amazing experience, everything was delicious. The sauerkraut and red cabbage definitely helped balance out the heaviness of the entire platter. There was a great balance between the two. Lovely atmosphere and staff would definitely come here again.

The service at the door was ok, but I wondered if she was depressed (you never know what is happening for other people). The bar guy was really great, friendly and helpful and took our food order. The food itself was overpriced for what we got. I had a roast pumpkin salad and it was about $20, but there was very little roast pumpkin in it. Despite this I was determined to enjoy it, but my mum was really bummed out with her meal as she also thought it was expensive for an ok plate of fish n chips. We may have been better off with one of the sausage type meals since that's the main focus. It wasn't terrible, but it just wasn't great either.

They have good range of beer on tap, happy hour and special deals on selected food on certain days. Food preparation and presentation was excellent and worth the $$.

Overall it was a good meal and we had efficient and friendly service. The schweineschnitzel was on the thin side and not 300g worth of meat and the Nashville chicken wasn’t crispy enough - luckily we were able to take advantage of the Schnitty Fest event!

The service here is excellent, it did take about 30 minutes to get our food but was because of how busy it was since we went at lunchtime. The prices on Wednesdays for the schnitzels are only $10 which makes it even better, but this deal ends at the start of June. The portions are really good, the Jagerschnitzel would have been better if it had just a bit more mushroom sauce to go with it since the chicken schnitzels are so big. The G&P was a bit too plain for my liking. The Hawaiian wasnt too bad, it was like having a hawaiian pizza but with a schnitzel as the base. The chips are just normal french fries, so not great but not bad either.

Updated: Adding photo of schnitzel from their $10 schnitzel menu on Wednesday’s for a limited time. Still only a 4/5 experience but you can’t beat the value. It was some good schnit. Original: Not the best sausage I’ve had but still pretty tasty. I’d go back again to try some other food on the menu for sure but this experience didn’t leave me wowed.

I have been to many bottomless brunch/dinners throughout Auckland over the past few years but the Bavarianfest was by far the best one i've ever experienced. Drinks were amazing, food was delicious and the staff were awesome! Mariah was our server and she was super attentive to any needs we had and constantly made sure we were having a great time. All staff in fact were absolutely amazing. Dan the manager even stopped by to introduce himself to us which showed that this is an establishment that truly does focus on even the smallest of things, the finer details to make sure every customer leaves having had a great time. Thanks Bavarian for a great night out.

We dined in at The Bavarian and were promptly seated without a reservation. Our waitress was excellent and I appreciated her candour about the menu. There was so much to try from on the menu. We decided on the homemade pretzel with butter followed by the Jagerschnitzel with mushroom ragout and potato salad and the Bavarian tasting platter. Our meals were delicious especially the sauces. The portion were satisfying too! Overall, we had a wonderful after work dinner and if like to try other dishes. Highly recommended!

Been a couple of times here. Food is very tasty and good quality - although it's more Aussie pub food done well than German classics. Does seem a bit exxy, but they have plenty of specials if you're saving for a deposit ;) Beer selection is pretty much all German, but nice to see some speciality HB and Franziskaner on tap. Would definitely give 5* if they had Augustiner! Also great for kids - good menu for them, and right next to a playground so they can burn off the schnitzel while you have a second beer...

Checked it out with friends for dinner. It was packed. Definitely recommends booking ahead We were lucky to find some seats outside. The portion size is huge. Good value for what you pay for. The environment and decorations are great but the lighting could use some work, a few areas are much darker than others. Staff got the tables confused a number of times and water is something we had to ask for. Mains are $30+ but unless you get the platter they feel very pricey. Food was underwhelming, the meat was somewhat dry. I tried the fruit flavored beer, first few mouthful were good but novelty wore off fast, I wouldn't suggest it.

Been waiting to come try a mug and schnitzel for a very long time, and finally got to see this rooftop bar at the end. Overall, I feel like this is kind of a sports bars that happens to serve German beer and food. There's quite a number of long wooden tables w benches quite close together inside as well as two sides outside under the awnings. At least 2-3 of the German style beers I wanted to try were out on the taps unfortunately and the schnitzel was a bit average - it was very large and on a heap of fries, but it could have done with more mustard to keep each bite moist (the sausage salad only added so much). What was craziest to me was it costing $3 for a side of bbq sauce to dip fries in since they didn't come with anything. The pork belly main looked appetising, but alas I hadn't been the one to order that. There's at least 4+ TVs around and that plus the sleek black plus wood decor just made it feel like that fancier sports pub as I first mentioned - and unfortunately if you're actually seated at the bar there'd be no way to watch the TVs bc they'd be overhead. I'd still come back for a beer if I was meeting a group, but might be a while til solo or couple.

It was OK. Got the pork platter. Very filling but the meat was pretty dry and hard to eat (including the Schnitzel). Nothing super delicious or outstanding but very filling. Great place and located in Newmarket Westfield mall on the rooftop. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Great beer selection and food is very tasty. I got the Salt and pepper squid and Buffalo chicken wings. The buffalo wings were great, maybe spicy hot for others. $14 for Buffalo wings, $18 salt and paper squid. $12 for kids cheese burger and fries. The drinks are great and tasty. I got the hefe weizen, it's a wheat beer, really good in summer. Service was a bit slow waiting to order took 10 mins, even though the place was 70% empty at the time. Food took 20 mins which is good time, but my beer didn't last that long haha All up, great bar, food and vibes.

First time visited this place, The Bavarian New Market. A group of 4 ppl (3guys +1 girl). Ordered 2 platters & a Big Pork knuckle . Price: Monday special 50% off for all foods, except the Beverage.— good pricing for this Monday special promotion, nothing can beat. Food: provide mostly meaty foods( surely all guys love this restaurant) Variety of Sausages, you can find diff taste on each sausage. Fresh baked Pretzel, first time having fresh baked pretzel, sea salt on top, soft n fresh. So yum. (Provide a free pretzel if you join the member) Big Pork Knuckle— soft n juicy inside, crispy skin, with braised red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Drink: wide selection of Beers list, we ordered 3 diff type of beers, taste of beer significantly increased the participant desire to drink. Service: excellent staff, friendly, n patiently explain all the food n beverage.

Came for good old draught German wheat beer and was not disappointed. FRANZISKANER and HOFBRAU both tasted excellent. SPATEN was alright - it has an aromatic flavour which can be a hit or miss depending on the drinker. The PAULANER was not available on tap. Had the pretzel for an appetizer. It was a bit salty and chewy. The butter was also hard and cold making it difficult to spread. It paired perfectly with the beer however. The TEXAN chicken schnitzel was a bit rich and heavy. The side salad that comes with it brought a welcomed freshness to balance the dish. The potato salad has an excellent flavour and can stand on its own. The onion sauce was a bit on the sweet side and is best used sparingly. FISH OF THE DAY was incredible. It was a Tarakihi perfectly cooked – moist with a delicate mouthfeel. The butter sauce complimented the fish perfectly and made the dish a highlight of the evening. Wait staff is so-so. Our first waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable, and kind enough to answer all our questions about the menu – even checking back with the chef for the ingredients. We were seated in a corner and was hard to get any attention after placing our initial order. When ordering a pint of beer from another waiter, she incorrectly insisted that a pint was a 1L jug rather than the 500 mL glass. I had to clarify that I wanted the 500 mL serving.

Top of the new Westfield 277 Broadway. Easily a match for Sydney world tower site. Kitchen closes at 10 pm. After 45 minutes we are still waiting for food. Very much like sydney, great staff, slow kitchen. Two of us had Bavarian platters which were excellent and worth the 5 stars, the other had pork schnitzel with fries that came too tough to cut. The portion was large and would have been good if cooked appropriately. Edit Full credit to the staff though, as the manager came over afterwards and apologised for our issues. Even with the issues we would go back again for another round. Edit 2. Back again. And good to their word service was on point and rapid. Food was excellent. Drinks were correct and delivered fast. Please note. No one could finish their mains. The 340g schnitzels are enormous. Exit 3 And back again. New meat cheese an pretzels platter starter. Wow simple but well thought out. Salads are epic. Octoberschitzel was also a winner.

A warm and hearty meal for a winter’s night. Exactly what I needed. Favourites here are the sausage dishes (pictured) and the pork knuckles that are so rich and juicy. Luckily we booked because everyone wants to be inside when it’s cold, and there are limited tables. Despite this, the service was friendly as ever and contributed to the fun atmosphere of a beerhaus.

If you're looking forward to TGIF, then you've made the right choice. Perfect mix of ambience, food and German beer. Great vibes and loved the food. Try the Jack Daniel's Southern Schnitzel! Classic cheese burger is also recommended. If you're looking forward to wheat beer then the Franziskaner Hefe Weissbier Dunkel is your best bet. Great customer service too 🙂

Conveniently located on the top of the new Newmarket Westfield shopping mall - the open top restaurant level. The food was delicious with authentic German dishes. I’ve been to Germany a few times and the flavours were not traditional but this is where you go to get your fix of German beer and food in Auckland. We got the Bavarian platter and the Sausage platter. Their sausages were ok but their veal sausage was especially good. Their pork belly was nice but the pork knuckle was quite dry. Unfortunately I didn’t like their sauerkraut (not fermented?) and their mash were gloopy. My favourite was their schnitzel, the crumb was light and crunchy but the meat was still nice and moist. The restaurant itself is spacious with covered outdoor seating around the outside. The service was fine.

A group of our family and friends dined here for dinner, around 8:30 pm. Our server was Lina. She and her team were absolutely wonderful, kind and accomodating. We made a few requests but they were so nice about it and always checked up on us and served us with a smile. She had a great attitude and was engaging as well. Service is 10/10 for us tonight. Thanks Lina 😊 The food was awesome! We thought it was nice that they were considerate and did not overseason the food. Portions are great for the price and the mac and cheese balls were heavenly! (And very obviously my favourite) Never tried German food before, but my dad who used to stay in Germany really enjoyed it (especially the knuckle). Our friends tried the Waffles for dessert and said it was awesome too! Unfortunately we were not able to try the beer but we are keen to go back again next time to try it.

Plenty of genuine German food and beer. Beer was served in 300ml, 500ml and 1 mas (Stein) as is customary in Germany. The only thing that I found disappointing was the techno Music being played in a restaurant implying a genuine Bavarian experience. It appeared that the choice in music was not within the restaurants control as the other restaurants in the rooftop courtyard played the same music. The later entertainment was live and awesome. I attended a group booking. My partner and I were the very first to order. The rest of our group order over the period of an hour. As we were seated furthest away from the kitchen, our orders were incorrectly given to closer patrons time and time again. We had to ask 4x and waited 2.5hrs for our meals. Later on my partner was asked to leave for being too intoxicated. This I blame on the lack of food service and find it appalling the way we were 'lead out'. On the other hand, the wait staff where very polite and the food was good. Slightly pricey but large portions. The cocktail jugs are good value.

Let’s start with the beer , we had the dark German beer and it was hands down the best beer I have ever had in my life , I could drink it all day ! Onto the food , the fresh out of the oven pretzel with butter was absolutely great , perhaps could have used a bit more salt but honestly it was yum ! The giant bratwurst was spectacular I highly recommend that you ask for an extra sausage to your order as this was not enough ! We also had the boneless chicken wings they were really just chicken bites/nuggets and were a bit dry , I don’t really recommend them unless you are a fussy kid . To finish we had apple strudel and that was nice but not amazing. We definitely will come back , however I would say that their portion sizes are a little on the small side so just keep that in mind if you are a big eater.

Parma schnitzel was edible, but poorly presented and cold on arrival. Strawberry margarita was surprisingly good as were the other cocktails in offer from what I was told. Overall the value for money is poor - no passion or imagination. Beer selection is wide but same same.

The food here is on the whole very good. Exactly what you'd expect and close enough to the original dishes. Crispy Pork Belly is the best I've had in a while. We were very full for $35 per person approximately with no drinks. They have a good offer if you like all you can eat too, we didn't try it but the people beside us liked it. We were a bit disappointed the waitress wouldn't allow us to substitute items on the platter, given they were the same price on the menu and from the same sets of things (sausage vs different sausage and schnitzel vs other schnitzel). It is of course their absolute right to do this, but we would have preferred more effort was made to accommodate us. I'd return here again and can recommend it food and value wise.

Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant. It was overpriced and the service was inexperienced. We had the chicken Parma for $28 which didn’t come with a salad at all. From a table of 9 most were disappointed in the meals they got for the price they pay. On the contrary, the chicken wings and bao buns were very good and were worth the price.

I hope she stays, we need more like her in NZ. The food was tasty, not too much just about right and the beer selection was excellent if you like German beers (I do)

Nice atmosphere, was very busy and therefore noisy though. Downloaded menu before we went but was slightly different at the restaurant. Limited vegetarian options (salads only) but ok for burgers, wings etc. Ribs were small. Have a kids menu but no prices displayed for non alcoholic drinks. Parking was very confusing and the restaurant had no toilets.

Super fast arrival of food after ordering tells me that it is pre-prepared and just heated up in the microwave. My wife got something different to what she ordered but didn't realize till she was halfway through it, so someone in the kitchen obviously can't read. To their credit, they gave her a free dessert, which was apparently delicious. Very pricey, and the benches they provide at the tables are very hard and uncomfortable.

I went out to dinner to The Bavarian with my boyfriend and his family last night and I absolutely loved it! The food was amazing (get the meat platter - you won't regret it) but the waitress - Lisa - was even more amazing! She gave us a good taste of the german culture and was so so funny and good at making us feel welcome! I highly rate her customer service - sehr toll!

The Bavarian is an excellent place to catch up over litre steins of German beer and bratwurst, only downside is the steep pricing. If you’re in for a whole night and your pockets are deep, try the dark Hefeweizen! Don’t miss the pretzels either.

All you can eat meat platter on Wednesday's a good deal - $35 for a plate stacked with sausage, pork belly, schnitzel and chicken wings. Polish it off and they deliver another. Good food, still very busy so highly recommend booking first

The sausage didn't reach the correct heating temperature. But staff was very friendly and offered to fix the problem. Maybe if the restaurant was not so busy, then kitchen would have been able to get it right the first time. Good customer service deserves a solid 4 star though

The recommendation to some of our table - The Wednesday All You Can Eat Meat ... was just wow! Well worth the money. I myself had the Jager Schnitzel which was tender and the mushroom ragout - creamy goodness is a must. Cocktails starting with the espresso martini then going down the list to find that the pink lady (Gin) was my favourite picking. Great place for a group - family & friends. Booking is neccessary.

Food: 4 out of 5 stars. We had the mussels, pork hock and giant bratwurst. They were all well cooked and seasoned, fairly authentic, good volume, but the sides were a bit sparse. For the price though, no complaints. Drinks: 3 out of 5 starts. We only drank Weizenbier, which was delicious. However, they only served FRANZISKANER in the correct Weizenbier glasses, because they were branded. The Lowenbrau was served in a pint glass, which totally destroys the enjoyment of the beer. Small to some, but it's like drinking red wine from a Champagne flute glass. Blasphemy! Atmosphere: 1 out of 5 stars. There is NO GERMAN THEME AT ALL. The place, along with it's 30 other sister stores in Australia, is set up like a young people's trendy bar, totally sterile of any character. And the music, oh my gosh! It sounded like a nightclub with the funky hip-hop r & b rubbish that was blaring away on Sunday night. Service: 2 out of 5 stars. We stood at the reception waiting to be seated for 5 minutes, the place wasn't busy. It wasn't until the 3rd staff member arrived (2 were already there, ignoring us and trying to correct a previous customer's incorrect bill) that we were seated. We then had to wait 10 minutes for the drinks we ordered, 5 of which I could see that they were just sitting on the bar not being collected by staff. Then despite us clearly stating we wanted our mussels as an appetiser, our mains came 5 minutes after them so we had to race through the meal before it got cold. The mussels were tepid too, which suggests they had been left in the kitchen for a while. In short, the staff weren't in communication with the bar/kitchen. Try harder... Overall: I enjoyed the meal and drinks. I'd go back, possibly with my earplugs this time.

Great Bavarian experience. Huge portions with takeaways, and lots of choice in the food and drinks menus. As a party of 5 we enjoyed pretzels, dips, meat platter for 2, the vegetarian crumbed camembert dishes, and the apple schnudel dessert. The bell ringing that came with our schnapps made us feel so special😊 Manager Marama did an amazing job in ensuring that all went well. Great vibes and such a cool new place never done before in Auckland in the new location. Not a massive selection of wines but you’re not there to have wine. They have heaps of beers and craft beers to choose from. I had the chicken parma and it was amazing. The sausage tasting platter is also good to share between a big group as well. Rooftop bar also has live DJs. Great ambiance. Cute little walkway and pond that you can also see from the third floor if you look up. Great design. There’s one bathroom shared between all the restaurants which I think is a good idea.
