Reviews of The Blue Breeze Inn
V.
Good knowledge of Chinese dumplings, they make good use of the western ingredients mix with the traditional Chinese dumpling ingredients to transforming them into the contemporary food, and they taste really great. The Pork with black truffle dumpling is highly recommended with soup inside, and served with red vinegar & ginger. Also recommend stir fried market fish.
H.
Finally got to try their popular pork bao and it did not disappoint! The bao was just perfect, soft and airy but also dense and slighltly sweet, just how a bao bun should be. The pork was crispy, the pickled cucumber added great freshness and the sauce nicely completed the whole bao.
The shumai and dumplings were good too. The bang bang chicken was not quite as impressive, if I had to choose again I wouldn’t order it but wasn’t bad.
Good service, nice vibe and overall a decent Asian fusion choice for some casual meet-ups!
S.
This place is always impeccable. Been there a couple of times now and every visit has been an amazing experience!
Never miss out in the dumplings, they are always a hit - last night also tried the egg noodles and they were the best I've had in a really long time!
Service is super attentive and friendly. Also don't miss out on their amazing cocktail section - tried the daiquiri of the day and it was d e l i c i o u s!
J.
Amazing food, amazing drinks and amazing service, I had an amazing waiter from Eastern europe, they were 10/10. I highly recommend going there and ordering the little lulu cocktail if you're a fan of ginger, it is heavenly. I loved the complimentary peanuts that were given to us before our drinks and meals, it was a lovely touch!
p.
Food was not exceptional. We were led to believe that the menu offered plenty of gluten free options (one of us is coeliac) but in reality there were only four things! Incredibly expensive too - but anything negative was pretty much offset by delightful and helpful waitstaff.
S.
It had been my favourite restaurant for like 4 years and still counting... I always order the same thing again and again as the photos attached below.
The taste is always fresh and quality.
Cocktails are amazing and well mixed.
I recommend if you have a meal alone, try to ask for a seat in front of the chef and enjoy the cooking views. It also warms too especially in winter 😅
What else should I say?!? Enjoy eating and have a wonderful experience ❤️
T.
This buratta had me feeling all the good vibes and was a treat! Lovely staff and great food 👌
U.
Seriously dream of Bang Bang Chilli Chicken, can never fault it always amazing!!!
Hands down the most incredibly delicious "Bang bang' Chicken . Have tried a few dishes across Auckland with same name and similar flavor profiles but this is why Hubby and I will always keep coming back because there's no where yet that beats it!!! SO so good!!!!
D.
Though it hard to get a parking spot around their location, their food is great and in my opinion, pretty healthy including their dumplings which are amazing. Pork and prawn Shumai is a must as well as the broccoli which pairs well with the rice when you put the sauce in the rice.
H.
Good food.. great vibes and very helpful staff… mostly blokes but we had a very kind girl serving us … overall great experience!!
G.
A beautiful meal here... Great staff and amazing food... Extensive rum menu too. Overall the best time you could get in Ponsonby.
N.
Good ol' Blue Breeze Inn bringing it's "A" game again! We've been there several times and will definitely return. Great atmosphere sitting outside (quieter and less busy than inside), watching people walking by on Ponsonby road, and good that they keep free seats for walk-ins because we were not able to make reservations online for the time we wanted. I started my meal with a very succulent eggplant steamed bun (love the Japanese mayo in it), followed by some meaty pork & prawn shumai, and finished with spicy beef brisket (cute touch with the lucky money dumplings in it) + rice + charred broccoli. I must say the broccoli might be one of the best items on the menu because it is perfectly cooked and bathed in oyster sauce. Deeeeelish!
G.
I am so surprised as a western restaurant they did the most transitional flavor Chinese cuisine than all other Chinese restaurants in NZ!! We really enjoyed every dish we ordered, this was also highly recommended by lots of my friends been here before. Trust you will like me after you tried.
Z.
The atmosphere was fun and cool. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was good, but not stand out-ish. The food is rated by chilis for spiciness and they're very deceiving; as in not spicy at all. It was good over all, but definitely a visit once restaurant.
A.
Hadn't been for years and came on a whim. Food was soo good, lightly spiced, well proportioned, decent service (its pretty casual). Managed to sit outside facing Ponsonby Road, all in all a great place without being too hip for its own good.
D.
The fried rice is pretty robust. Portion is decent, it has the wok smokey flavour that is absolutely essential for good fried rice. I do think $34 for a bowl of this is very expensive. All I've got is a few deep fried tiger prawns...
The cumin lamb.... I mean, the bok choy is not really a good match to the main ingredient. Also, if I may, how is the lamb marinated? The texture is very much like the pork in sweet and sour pork. I guess it's battered and fried first?
Honest advice: lower the price. It's really expensive and if you want to charge $30+ for a stir fry, you've got to have something special in there.
M.
Wow. This place really has that wow factor. The location is great. The food better. The drinks spot on. What a great venue with just fantastic food. Staff are super friendly and were extremely sportive of allergies. Prices also fair and reasonable with the option to get leftovers as takeaway.
D.
Awesome food and lovely vibe. Highly recommend the pork belly bun and beef brisket 😍
C.
Great dumplings and great service. I would recommend having the appetisers, the Pork belly gua bao is amazing. Very soft steam bun with tender crispy pork belly. However the lamb stir fry with Gai lan dish was disappointing, the lamb portion is small and coated with thick flour.
K.
Took the Mrs to this place for Valentines and she loved it. Unique twist to the typical Chinese cuisine. Great vibes, great location and great cocktails to boot! Will definitely return :)
E.
Delicious food! Full of flavour. Ambiance fantastic. Some items on the menu were expensive for their portion. Staff members seemed to be rushed. Table small for party of 3 better of 2 people. Tables very close together.
L.
One of the Metro top 50 restaurants in Auckland.
Superb food, Chinese flavours, actually more Sichuan regional flavours, which uses chilli quite a lot, with a Pacific Island touch, small and big appetite plates and vegetables to share. Desserts are crafted.
Cocktails and drinks from the bar are sensational as well.
Good service.
J.
Good. A nice spot in Ponsonby if you want a light meal or a feast - good cocktails too.
C.
Had a great night out to celebrate 2 family birthdays. Fabulous food - we ordered way too much , friendly helpful staff and was so impressed with how they presented birthday cake and sang . We had the best time. Vibrant fun atmosphere. Highly recommend.
B.
Yummy asian fusion restaurant in the heart of Ponsonby! We love to cool vibe of the place and the little pacific and asian accents. We had the chicken and shrimp shumai, truffle dumplings, spicy beef brisket and egg noodles with pork belly. It's all good especially the shumai! The personnel are also very friendly!
B.
We went there for dinner last night and the food was amazing and the overall ambience was just the best. Service was one of the best I've experienced. We were supposed to make the booking for last night but made it for 26th but Mark found a table for us for 1.5 hours which was awesome so big shout out to you Mark! You were amazing and the waitresses were really friendly and sweet too! Thanks guys for a really good experience. We will be back for sure but next time we will surely make the reservation for the correct date next time 🙈
H.
Went here and had the bang bang chili chicken... Marvellous!! Also had kimchi which though delicious and fresh is very hot... And I like hot things... But even I found it hot!! Very tasty things.... service was great.
M.
Amazing choc pot. My only complaint is the pineapple inside. REALLY nice atmosphere and friendly staff. Super fluffy blankets so nice. Thanks for checking with us about allergies.
E.
Great atmosphere, good flavours and excellent service... To highlight the chef found the right amount of spiciness in the plates which make you enjoy the flavours and not just the hot.
D.
What a cool little place! Such a vibe inside and love the open kitchen. A bit of a tight squeeze but you really don't need to get up often anyway. A bit on the pricey side for Asian food but it is Ponsonby and it's actually really good with great quality ingredients.
The crispy pork bao was soooooo damn good and crispy. Bao bun was perf. We also had the shu mai and pork and prawn dumplings which were also hella good. The pastry (?) of both were quite soft and good thickness; fillings were real good and not overcooked. I wasn't a fan of the chilli chicken dish, mostly because it was a cold dish. The cocktails were too easy to drink, I easily could've had another. Can't remember exactly which I had but I think it was the Bermuda Sour.
Service was nice, not too disruptive plus we were having a long delayed catch up but it was a Saturday night and staff were quite busy. Love the uniforms, too. Thanks BBI :)
N.
A place with a great environment and feel, quite a good menu with different choices balanced between traditional and modern fusion.
Good staff and people, food is just normal nothing special, quite refreshing and quality ingredients. Still not good enough to catch a special praise.
Prices are medium to high, loads of drinks to choose from.
T.
Brilliant service, food and atmosphere.
Cannot wait to go back
S.
In really want to like this place. I love Asian fusion, dim lighting and a place with a sense of humour. What I don't like is surprise whole, partially shelled prawns - with no warning nor bowl for cleaning your hands. FFS they may look more impressive to a (standard) chef's eye but frankly I'm impressed by succulent, de-veined, shelled crustaceans. Most diners in New Zealand just don't want to deal with the mess. The eyes. The brains. And the chewy, musty inedible shells. You may be thinking I just don't understand a well cooked prawn - but you'd be mistaken. I've eaten whole prawns in Tokyo which were crunchy, clean flavoured, delicious. These (as with most prawns served in New Zealand) were not like that.
Combined with still - after years of service - only offering 2 small vegetarian options on the menu ("but all the vegetable sides are vegetarian" (seriously!)), and a fried rice that is so oily you splatter yourself with it while eating means I think I've finally given up trying with this place.
D.
Sat in front of the kitchen which was kind of cool as personally I like seeing the cooking but the place seems to have too many tables for the space, felt a bit squeezed.
Even though the place was kinda full the food didn’t take too long to arrive, actually it was pretty quick.
Had the smoked salmon salad, which I think was a bit overpriced for what I got. The waiter put together the salad in front of me which would have been cool if there would have been some fire or something excited....
The place is OK just too overpriced as the food wasn’t that amazing in my opinion
Y.
Had an early dinner booking with work colleagues. Great atmosphere and we definitely got one of the best tables as it was like a booth and seats 8 while restaurant looks like it mainly caters better for smaller groups. A bit cramped. Cocktails were nice and food even better, asian-fusion style. Definitely not bland and full of spice and flavour. Didnt take any food pics as we just chowed down as soon as. Would come again.
F.
Always sensational! Crab wontons were amazing, and I couldn't stop eating the pineapple chews until they were all gone...
A.
Walking into Blue Breeze on a Friday evening with no booking, the restaurant was bustling so getting a table for 4 was looking unlikely! However I couldn't have been more wrong, the gentleman at the front did whatever he could to make space for us and secured us a table out the front (which was completely the opposite experience to what we had at a dining establishment just down the road!) and it was delightful. The heaters were on, seats were super comfy and the ambience was great!
Being out the front there was a slight worry that you may get forgotten about as it isnt in the main dining area however the staff were so attentive and the food was great - a highlight being the xo noodles!
So well priced, great food, lovely atmosphere and staff that really want to help!
S.
The best pork buns in the Southern Hemisphere. The food here is great. Check the menu before you go because as it’s not very big so if you are a little fussy there aren’t too many options. Recommend the dumplings, chill beef and market greens. This cocktail was amazing also can’t quite remember the name, something with honey.
S.
Had a great lunch here. Only 2 of us so shared a few plates. Had the Prawn and pork shumai which was so good we ordered another round. The bao buns pork belly were very tasty and Roast duck dumplings were lovely too. Service is quick and friendly. Absolutley packed on a Friday afternoon. A great atmosphere. Will be back to taste the big menu. Thanks to owner and lovely staff.
Y.
Asian fusion at it's best. Highly highly recommend the pork belly steamed bun... Never get enough of that. Great service. Great atmosphere. You won't go wrong.
M.
Foods great, service prompt but staff need training in basics.
Reaching across in front of active dinners and taking plates while people are still eating is not best practice. Otherwise great.
E.
I want to give this place 6 stars!!!!!! I love everything here! The truffle dumplings are a MUST TRY! The fish is done perfectly, such a delicate protein to master. Go if you feel like something fancy but definitely worth the money!!
S.
After several recommendations from friends, we just went for dessert to try the choc pot! It was delicious and very rich, we almost didn't manage to finish it even between 2 people. However, the ganache on top of the chocolate pudding had an oily(?) aftertaste which was a little strange.
The place was very busy but lots of attentive and friendly staff. Although we had a great table by the window there wasn't much room at all for staff to easily walk between tables when other diners sat opposite us.
B.
The food was amazing. Went for valentines and didn’t have a booking however they were good enough to squeeze us in no problem. The staff was absolutely awesome, even just walking past they gave huge smiles. The food was delicious as well and we will definitely be going back again!
J.
A four hour lunch must tell you something about this place!Great atmosphere
S.
The food is always consistently great and our server, Kay was awesome - she really took care of us all evening. Family friendly hip and cool. The place is looking a worn (not bad issue to have being so successful) and needs a cosmetic update and refresh. Definitely great mid week dinner option.
K.
Great environment and feel, we ordered bang bang chicken and dumpling. food was ok.
J.
Have been here a few times and it's always great. Dumplings and Bao are tops and the thai salad is great. Very nice cocktails and a good spot, right next to Ponsonby Central.
E.
It's incredible that Chinese food can be cooked better by Westerners than Chinese restaurants!
M.
A fun buzzy place. Good staff with above average food.
a.
Amazing food, friendly staff. Love the ambience.
W.
Love the food and atmosphere here. Services were not that great.
A.
Nice Atmosphere and setting. Not the best selection for Vegetarians but was a good experience
S.
Great atmosphere and very accommodating for a large group (we were a group of 13). The food had lots of great, strong flavours reflective of traditional Chinese dishes that they were based by.
E.
gorgeous
beautiful asian fushion restaurant
with great service and speedy menu serving
R.
Excellent food...excellent service.....Ive been here for every New Year's Eve since they opened...which reminds me, I must book for the next one
P.
The food was great and so were the cocktails. I just realized that I forgot to take any pictures cause I was a little too hungry by the time we got served food. The staff in general seemed friendly but the only issue we had would be that we had to wait about 40 mins even after the time slot we booked for.
G.
Your knees and legs will hurt by the end of your meal as you won't be able to budge them as you sit, but hey, at least the food is pretty good! The drinks are unique too, at least in how they're served like inside a full coconut or tiki mug, even if they don't taste exactly like they try to build them up to be in the menu. Speaking of which, haha while their menu is super creative, it's actually TOO wordy so youll feel like you're reading a short novel haha.
N.
Great experience, staff was helpful and friendly and always on hand if you needed anyone. Love thier pork buns. We will be back :)
K.
Amazing food, staff incredible and well trained! It’s buzzing in atmosphere, and they nail the service and efficiency. Food great!
H.
The food was so delicious, the dumplings were supreme! I found the seating somewhat congested but it was probably due to me being a small town, open spaces, sort of girl. Admittedly we didn't make a booking so they were really accommodating. The service was friendly and efficient. A lovely, unpretentious night out with great food and lovely company.
J.
Nice place with friendly staff and quick food delivery. Good cocktails and nice beer. Really accommodating when our reservation grew unexpectedly. Pork steamed buns were really nice as were the fried spicy chicken dumplings. Some of the dumplings can be a little explodie so eat with care.
C.
BB Inn is very popular. If you are looking for a fun night, the hustle and bustle of street eating type layout, and tasty food, this is for you! I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the drinks were unique and flavorsome.
M.
Great execution of classic east and south Asian flavors in a modern gastropub setting--we sat at the chef's bar and watched each dish get made from scratch while we ate. Highly recommend the hot sour and spicy waygu beef paired with the housemade ginger cocktail with the market greens bok choy.
T.
Came here for a lazy Sunday Lunch. Amazing food, good service and nice ambience.
Get a window seat and people watch.
Suprise dish was the Buratta- delicious. Dishes say two chillies is hot but it would be manageable by all.
Sweet and sour pork was also fantastic.
N.
Wow! Amazing food, great service by our waiter Benjamin. Although we didn’t have a booking they were able to fit us in within half an hour while we checked out Ponsonby central. We ordered way too much food and they were all so delicious. Definitely coming back again.
G.
I could come here everyday and be happy forever!
Amazing atmosphere and staff and most importantly food :)
Must try’s are the pork bao and the duck, both are mouth watering!
You can also write a postcard when you pay and they will send it anywhere!!
Can’t recommend this place enough

Great vegetarian options. The black bean greens are great. Kimchi is awesome. Sauces are pungent and tasty. I’ll be coming back!
M.
Amazing soft serve icecream and expresso martini to die for!
r.
Came for lunch with a friend and had an amazing experience here, right from the lovely welcome when we arrived. This place had it all - delicious food, great cocktails, friendly service and great attention to detail - the only negative I can find was that the cocktail I wanted wasn't available that day. Very busy but still a chilled relaxed atmosphere. Would highly recommend.
A.
Great place to have a shared meal and the cocktails are amazing!
S.
Outstanding service from the team at Blue Breeze. Even when there was an issue with a drink they immediately rectified the issue without any issues.
We look forward to enjoying the service again soon.
L.
It was really a good dining experienced, food was great customer experienced was excellent especially the waiter who look after our table😊Higly recommended.
F.
Food is always amazing, only matched by the service!
M.
Pork buns are superb, plenty of meat and seafood choices
A.
Fantastic meal, really good food. We had a selection of dishes to share and were not disappointed with any of them; absolutely delicious. We were lucky to get a table for an early dinner when we walked in. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.
V.
Stylish place in a stylish part of Rotorua. The vegan plates were delicious, but there could easily be more of them ;). The deserts were great. Maybe in the future the drinks menu could indicate what wines are vegan-friendly.
The place was warm on a cold evening, as were the kind staff. A lovely dining experience. I loved this place.
M.
Great place for a educational and entertaining "in your face" culinary experience. My recommendation is to sit at the "Chefs Bar", and watch the food being cooked. It's great for a cold night out, you can feel the heat off the flames in the kitchen. The service is pretty good too. Inspiring! The kimchi is pretty spicy - beware!
P.
Great atmosphere, can be a little noisy if you prefer a quieter environment - we love it the staff and friendly hostess’s are awesome. Can’t say enough about the food - as always a delight of such a fabulous fusion. Amazingly food. Best yum cha type lunch in nz. Reasonable pricing good wine and great service. Dumpling fantastic pork belly buns amazingly and the cucumber salad I had to order more of. Can highly recommend and will be back, thanks again.
S.
I just had my dinner here with a bunch of friends. Must say, they have an amazing collection of wines and rum. The food was great too and so was the ambience. The staff was polite and had some great customer service skills. Would definitely visit again and would highly recommend! Cheers
L.
I genuinely love the food here and all the spots where Che Barrigton created the menu.
I came here after 3 years. The menu hasn't changed since.. But I guess you don't need to change something that is working for so many years. Pork belly Bao was a bit dry this time. Otherwise tried Prawn dumpling (5*) and Egg noodles which were very fragrant and strong flavour.
We were table of 12 and the staff is moving fast and everything is just fast.
I really don't like when you can't hear each other with your mates, which happend here. Why the music is so loud?
Well, I am typing about food now. Everyone loved the food. And this place is just huge icon in Auckland. Love it!
F.
What an experience! Our waiter was really entertaining, kept us laughing the whole night.
The cocktails were next level, one was certainly not enough. And the food was delicious! We tried a wide variety from the menu and everything was amazing.
A.
Great service and great location, definitely no complaints there. We had a stir fry and dumplings. Similar to a cheap eats place on Dominion quality wise without the cheap eats price or quantity.
T.
Had an amazing meal here and despite being very busy the staff were very prompt and attentive. Food was incredible. We had the Chinese Style BBQ Pork and the Stir Fry Noodles which I loved. I would definitely go again.
C.
Its been a while since I've been to Blue Breeze Inn, and its still as amazing as i was when I first visited! Next level food magically delicious drinks!
G.
Beautiful place, great atmospere, great food.
J.
Squeezed us in on a Saturday eve. Great cocktails! Beautiful food. Especially the prawn main and the chilli chicken! Definitely a great place for dinner. Service was busy but really friendly.
G.
Great vegetarian options. The black bean greens are great. Kimchi is awesome. Sauces are pungent and tasty. I’ll be coming back!
N.
Had some slightly disappointing service here. We came as a big group and didn't want to share our meals, yet they insisted we do. It took about an hour to get all our meals out. They do 1 bill per table, not a big deal but can be annoying with big groups.
I got the market greens and they were actually pretty good. Everyone else's food looked good, a bit pricey but good quality.
K.
Chinese fusion food at its best. They are really tasty.
R.
Loved the tiger prawn dumplings and steamed bun pork belly. Weird wild boar dish - the soy custard can go without. Service was a bit distracted but overall nice place to eat.
D.
Had a blast. Food was delicious. We ordered all the dumplings and all the drinks. It was busy as hell, but service was still fantastic and quick. Solid performance by all.
T.
Incredible, delicious, amazing. The food was so tasty and arrived so fast we hadn’t even had much time with our drinks. Chairs at the bar were uncomfortable but with a cool view of the kitchen. Loved it.
M.
Best pork buns in town by far. Everything else on the menu is also great including the cocktails. It does always feel overly busy and is more of an "in and out" type of restaurant rather than a long dining experience. I highly recommend. Make sure you get the prom buns.
M.
One of the best dining experiences i have had in my life. There is no way to fault this place it has excellent service, tasty well prepared food and and an incredible range of drinks.
Best enjoyed in groups so you can sample a large range of the small plates served. I wish i could give six stars
M.
Amazing food, really friendly staff, melt in your mouth desserts. This is one of our favourite restaurants and I can hugely recomend it for families, flash dinners or any occasion. It is not overpriced and the atmosphere is great.
S.
Just delicious food. Staff really friendly. Food was good so gave it a five star but if giving a more detailed breakdown it would have rated less for a few reasons. Main reasons were lack of knowledge about the food and wine served by wait staff (but it was not a busy time of the week and this may not reflect wait staff during peak times) and location (nothing wrong with it but other locations have better views). Also a little on pricey side.
J.
Got the absolute star treatment here with friends. I'm.a big fan of the elaborate and beautiful cocktails. Had a special treat tonight with the rum and home made spicy ginger beer served with lime in a ball of ice. As my Dad would say, "it's like an angel pissing on your tongue" - in the nicest possible way. The food was stunning. What a night, I love this place!
R.
You need to book and you need to be aware that it's going to be very busy and thus a bit loud. Our waitress (Maya if I remember correctly, a lovely blonde girl) was super friendly, helpful and attentive. The 5 of us shared the duck, dumplings and pork buns with a bit of rice on the side. We had a nice organic Montepulciano for a correct prize and finished the delicious meal with the ice cream and the Boysenberry cheese cake. Everything was fresh and very tasty. I would highly recommend this place !
E.
Really good cocktails. Most of the staff are good service wise, although we've encountered one or two sullen ones. There isn't one remotely healthy thing on the menu. Even the broccoli is drenched in oil. To be honest the food used to be good but over the past couple of years the standard has slowly but surely gone down. I used to like it here, despite being kinda gimmicky, but we won't be back - based purely on the food.
Gets very busy almost every night it's open - but there's quite a few tables so you don't usually have to wait too long. And while it's on the expensive side, it's nothing you wouldn't expect on ponsonby rd
J.
Really delicious food. Pretty pricey but if you're going to splurge for one meal, this is it. If you're looking for something a little more casual and affordable, Chow Chow noodle and whiskey bar (a casual watery by Blue Breeze) is in the annex next door. Also a cool little market area to check out and grab a drink.
A.
I can see why this place is popular. The Asian-fusion food is really delicious. Staff are very attentive. A few mix ups with our order but they righted it all very quickly so no problem there. Can be quite busy and bookings are a must at peak times.
M.
End of October, my mom and I asked a girl in the street (I hope she's gonna read this!) what her favourite restaurant was. She said Blue Breeze Inn. We went there and had such a great time. Food is delicious (we had two plates from the vegetarian section of the menu). Decor is very unique. I definitely recommend this place. Thanks to that nice girl with good taste!
A.
I love this place for social gatherings or just a nice meal. Great food and cocktails! Can't wait to get to Level 3 to at least have a takeaway meal until life gets back to normal.
A.
Great food, but when ordering for a table of 10 and not knowing portion sizes you really rely on the waiter for how much to order and unfortunately, we ordered waaaaayy too much under the guidance of the staff. This was very unfortunate and left everyone feeling uncomfortable...
J.
Visited for a light lunch - get in quick or make reservations as this place fills up fast. Service was great for us. The bang bang chicken had a decent kick but overall was a little underwhelming for the price. The dumplings were recommended by Donna.
M.
Love the food options. The fusion Asian cuisine is awesome. And the cocktails too ! Yum. Always great service.
R.
The food was excellent, and the beverages were incredible. However, the venue is quite confined/cozy if you're not at a large group table and so makes service limited, but when we were served the staff were very helpful, courteous and fast, everything a good staff should be. Would highly recommend a visit or two. We will certainly be going again.
S.
Not a bad place for gatherings. Food is delicious but a bit pricey compared to the real yum cha places
H.
Had great meal , amazing flavours! Very nice staff coming around with water often, organised vegan for our daughter, very kind!! Only one but: we all found the food a bit too salty......otherwise great o and the music was very loud ,but then ...we are a bit older!!
M.
They were crazy busy and let us know we would need to eat and go. The food was great. A interior was a bit dark but the vibe was good. It's a great place to go with a group and share food. Looking forward to going back and taking our time.
P.
This place doesn't disappoint - ever! Beautiful flavours and that Bermuda Sour - 10/10! ;) Great service too!!! One of Auckland's best for a very decent price! xX Thanks for always looking after us!
A.
Fantastic birthday meal here!!! Loved the food and the ambience, but best of all the interested, knowledgable staff, who were only too happy to tell you about all the cocktails and dishes. Loved the Bang, Bang Chicken - OMG, so good!
M.
Caught up with a few friends here for lunch. The noodles and pork shumai are delicious! Pork bao buns didn't live upto their expectations which was a shame because that is what lured me here. And they were a bit pricey too at $10 per bun! All dishes were quite oily too. The place has great ambience though with airy outdoor seating which is perfect for summer!
M.
Cool atmosphere, good food. Have the habit of bringing the bigger shared items out last though. Ordered a duck and they brought it after all the other dishes were finished and everyone was full.
A.
The guy at the bar was more interested in cleaning glasses than serving us while we waited for our table.
Finally got to the table and still waiting to be served a drink. The hawian shirts are trendy but good service would be better.
We were dining after 10pm so hardly busy and hardly an excuse.
McDonalds has a better customer experience.
A.
OMG...how could you be disappointed. Confusion Asian, with a tropical flair, it ticked all the boxes. The Kapow chicken and prawn fried rice were to die for. Also, very reasonably priced. And...the cocktails are bad either. It would pay to book, as it is a very busy little spot.
R.
We celebrated a 30th here, we were a group of 8. The setting is modern with waiters in Hawaiian shirts laid back but upbeat atmosphere. It was really busy and I'm guessing is the case Friday and Saturday nights, so probably is a good idea to book in advance. The menu had a nice variety, fish, vegetable dish, a whole crispy duck which was one of my favourites. Unfortunately, I am allergic to pork so couldn't eat the pork belly in steamed bun, Yumm. The meals are to be shared so that was great you get to have a bit of everything. I was surprised that kimchi(fermented cabbage) was on the menu a Korean relish but didn't mind we ordered it anyway. The bathrooms are modern and classy, you walk pass the open kitchen where chefs are cooking and a bar leaner where patrons are seated to get to bathrooms. Overall, we had a great night ambience was great, meals were delicious and I'd recommend to go with a group so everyone can order different meals to share and split the bill.
D.
Had birthday here and it's beautiful. Good menu, portions and tasty food. Very fancy and lovely.
b.
Always a delicious time at Blue Breeze Inn!
As always, Pork Buns were a must.
But the Bang Bang Chicken (cold salad) was amazing, with a very generous amount of chicken. And the fried spicy chicken dumplings were sensational! 10/10 for deliciousness
E.
We had a banquet for 8. Every single dish had Coriander in it ! ...not just a little.....alot ! If you don't like that it isn't quite so enjoyable. Odd that the rice was the last dish they gave us when that is what you eat with all other dishes. Furniture could be cleaner and so hot we stuck to the vinyl seating but otherwise fine.
I.
My favourite in Auckland, the cocktails are out of this world, they compliment the seasonal food which is always of the highest quality, the service is unbelievable, quick, attentive and they do remember you and what you enjoy. I just can't wait to go back. YUM YUM YUM
S.
Food is excellent, so is the Rum menu. Definitely Try wild boar and chicken salad. Service needs a little improvement. Service staff wants to close early on weeknights and they want to usher you out, so go early.
Will go again, but little early.
C.
Sorry, not a huge fan of these fusion Chinese food. I enjoyed my cocktail. Good ambience and decoration, living in Auckland there are so many Asian eat outs, personal I prefer “authentic” Chinese food.
A.
My most favourite place to dine in all of Auckland. I have probably eaten here close to 10 times over the past 4 years and I have never once been disappointed!
Pricey but definitely worth it.
L.
This place lives up to its excellent reputation. Hawaiian shirts whilst eating Chinese tapas! Fantastic food. Hard to choose what to have. Wonderful staff. You'll want to come back! Leave time for Ponsbonby Central parking
L.
Great atmosphere. Excellent staff. Wonderful food. But noisy but fun.
G.
Absolutely amazing food and venue. Located in the heart of ponsonby. Service is very fast and the market fish is the best I've ever had. A little pricey but well worth it. Only problem with this place is they want you in and put quick which can be annoying.
D.
Awesome dinner and a great experience all round. A fun night out.
D.
Fantastic flavours and great atmosphere - - even on a Tuesday lunch! I honestly can't wait to go back and work my way through more of the menu!
B.
Yummy food. And a great atmosphere, swrvers were very attentive, and quick to remove used plates etc.
A.
I've been here a few times now. Once with a vegetarian too. The food will not disappoint no matter what you pick. Also the team there are really respectful and super helpful! Especially Leighroy!
M.
Loved it ,went there for a quick lunch on a Saturday morning, very nice staff ,very accommodating and great service
J.
I gave these guys a bad review after a poor experience a couple years ago, however I decided that it needed to change as my recent experiences at BBI have been outstanding. The food has been really good and the service really impressive too. I love the Beef Shin!
M.
Service is impeccable. We had a really good time at dinner with the meals coming out in a timely manner. Staff were really friendly. Would definitely go back.
S.
Had a set menu with friends. They brought out one less pork belly bun so i had to wait about 15 min until they made an extra one. Then they missed me out when they took drink orders so I had to separately order. They also gave our birthday cake to the next table by accident and then relit the candles and gave to us !!!
A.
Pork buns are the best so come here just for those. It’s a very busy restaurant, heaps of staff in bright shirts. Love to see a few more chicken options but still a good menu
P.
The place was quite busy. The food was pretty awesome. If you wish to have something different with simple different tastes then this is the place. The mixes of food choice are amazing!
R.
Good vegetarian choices. The choc bomb dessert definitely the highlight
E.
Really impressed with staff, great recommendations and outrageously tasty food. The oysters were amazing!
D.
Really good vibe and service. Amazing flavours. We shared dishes and there was plenty left over
S.
Beautiful restraunt located right on Ponsonby road. Options to dine inside or outside with Wilson Parking just behind. The food selection is great with an inspired menu of asian fusion. I highly reccomend the Bang Bang Chicken, Mushroom Won Tons and Pork and Black Truffle Dumplings. Drinks are also divine! Well worth coming for a visit for a catch up with the girls.
S.
Great place. Food wonderful. Busy at times so pays to book. Nice cocktails. Nice surroundings friendly staff. Make a point of going there.
K.
Food was great and i love the ambiance, the waiters are friendly and attentive and lot of drinks option.
G.
Cocktails are nice. Service is a wee but slow but that might be because it's a public holiday
C.
The food is wonderful, spicy and eclectic. I can highly recommend the non alcoholic punch too!!
l.
Such delicious food and good atmosphere. So busy for a Monday night.
A.
The food is very good, but do not expect the food to have the same textures as the original dish that it was based upon.
C.
Seriously, try the beef and kimchi fried dumplings. Wow! All the food is wonderful. We had really friendly helpful staff. It's a place you want to re-visit a lot.
s.
A must for lovers of contemporary Chinese cuisine. Beautiful food, thoughtfully crafted. Excellent service and great ambiance. Thoroughly recommended.
M.
Amazing soft serve icecream and expresso martini to die for!
F.
Amazing food and amazing service! Went with a small group and they attended us extremely well. Their wine and beer selection is also very well sorted.
N.
Amazing food and a lovely vibe. Staff were super friendly - and the food took very little time to come out even on a very busy night!
b.
Great place run by a Darfield lad
Z.
Oh my goodness. Amazing food! Gorgeous Asian meets pacific fusion that's designed to share. The cocktails are pretty fabulous too!
C.
Great location, parking in Ponsonby always involves some walking. Great selection of food, a real fusion of flavours. Highly recommended.
T.
Been waiting to go here for so long, it did not disappoint! Impressive service and speed of food and drinks considering how busy this place always is. Faultless food. Bang bang chicken and the beef shin were standouts!
R.
Staff all got on board with my family to make this a great night out for my birthday. Kept on top of my copious water consumption. Careful that trick foods didn't burn me. Enjoyed myself greatly. Thank you all.
B.
We ate at chop chop, really loved how it feels like a japanese street market. The ramen noodles were pretty good, although the broth was a little bit lacking in flavor, I'd definitely go back though
S.
Everything about this place is fantastic - friendly staff who are ready to ensure we are looked after, fast service (food arrived pretty quickly), deliciously fresh food and I'd certainly come back for the steamed bun with roasted pork belly - yum!
P.
I have been to this restaurant multiple times and it never fails to disappoint. Buzzing atmosphere inside the restaurant - can be a little loud sometimes. The Chinese Duck and Bang Bang Chicken are must haves
K.
Love this place. The pork buns are a must have! We stuffed up our booking by a week and they managed to find us a table even though it was fully booked out. Can't wait to go back
L.
When we have out of town visitors stay with us we always take them to Blue Breeze Inn. The food, service and atmosphere is superb! The pork steamed buns is one of my favourite dishes!
S.
Amazing service, will be back!
K.
Great foods, attentive service, super busy so make sure to book in advance. Expensive as well.
K.
I ate in the "best" Szechuan restaurant in Shanghai and it was awful one dimensional spicy hot. Blue Breeze Inn manages to add more dimensions, sourness, acidity, good use of coriander in some dishes. The atmosphere is unique, funky Hawaiian theme that betrays the cuisine status quo. Bookings essential. Recommended dishes; Lamb wonton, Tiger Prawn wonton, Broccoli (I don't normally like broccoli but this is good), Wagyu stir fry beef, home made ginger beer. I was tempted to deduct 1 star for them taking my favorite spicy Beef Carpaccio off the menu. **Avoid: Chinese Style BBQ Pork.
S.
First time I'd actually been here, which apparently is a crime (say most of my mates who've been here several). They were right, awesome food and service with a buzzing atmosphere! Book from 8pm onwards so you can take your time...
D.
Absolutely love this place great service, incredible food, and flavors. If only I lived in Auckland, keep up the great work Team cant wait to come back
C.
Best food even, the booth is worth reserving for birthday dinners!
Service was amazing as well
R.
Excellent venue, friendly staff and tasty food.
I recommend the noodles and the fried rice.
L.
I had booked the private booth for dinner last saturday 02/03/19 and wow - the atmosphere, food and service was amazing, not only myself but also my friends absolutely loved everything about the evening, thank you so much for a great night guys, you all rock!
S.
Bang bang !! Always fabulous...great vibe , delicious mocktails 🙄 food on point. 50/50 on staff though, some didn't seem to want to be at work , others amazing....well recommended....
L.
What a great place, it was my first time, really nice surroundings, beautiful sunshine made it even better. The homemade Ginger Beer was CRAZY!!!! - Gotta have that during the cold seasons!
A.
Great wine list. The duck and broccoli were exquisite. Catered very well for gluten free options
J.
Amazing cocktails and great food! Love this place. Nothing like sipping cocktails and people watching here.
S.

We have been here twice in 2 visits from Sydney and cannot recommend it enough
Not only is the food superb but the staff are great and up for a chat
We will be back next time
J.
It's definitely my favourite restaurant in the Ponsonby area. It has such a lively vibe along with great menu for choice.
H.
Nice food, disappointed they felt the need to try and charge us $15 for a birthday cake. Could understand a couple of dollars a head for plates etc but $15 was just gouging.
T.
Lovely setting, great staff and quality food. My wife is addicted to the dumplings
A.
Good mix of classic and original cocktails. Good twist on classic asian dishes, especially steamed dumplings. The pork belly bau is the stand out item.
D.

W.
Great service. Best Mai Tai I've had. Good food. Tempted to give it 5 stars but there is some fabulous competition in Auckland.
A.
Outstanding place, great rum selection, had the wild boar (spicy) with a wok broccoli, wooow, chinese pacific fusion food to its best, tasty, top restaurant in AKL...
A.
Excellent food. The chocolate pot was incredible.
D.
Funky Asian Fusion - Chinese meets Hawaii. Cocktails and flavour full shared plates. Busy as so be prepared for a bit of a wait. Worth it.
K.
One of best places to eat in Ponsonby, if not Auckland. Just the mere thought of Blue Breeze Inn Pork Buns, makes me weep tears of pure joy.
Always busy, so be prepared to wait for a table if you're dining on the weekend.
