I had such lovely experience at The Butcher’s Son. We came for dinner and everything was satisfying: the customer service, the food display, the ambiance, and the taste. It’s a busy vegetarian restaurant with super cool and cozy atmosphere. Despite of the busyness, all of the staff here are very nice and I think this fact really wins a score in my heart. There’s pretty good portion for some dishes regarding the price and they have many delicious, interesting options on the menu. Try this place out if you want to have a healthy meal with your family/friends or just want to treat yourself with some tasty vegetarian food. Nothing can go wrong with The Butcher’s Son 🙌🏻💯

Amazing place! Great vegan / vegetarian menu with perfect blend of continental, mexican, Mediterranean and pinch of Indian items. Awesome variety of drinks, cocktails, coffee, juices. And on top of it, fresh cookies and pastries. Friendly smiling staff, nice decor and location. A must visit place.

Recommended by a friend to celebrate a new Job. Friendly service with a lovely selection of drinks. Tried the whisky sour and it was tasty! Really yummy burgers with good large portion sizes. Didn't try the desserts this time around but will be returning in future.

I’ve been here a few times and it’s pretty good, yesterday got the nachos with sunfed chicken, it came out with everything piping hot as it should except the cashew cheese which was stone cold 🥶 …. The staff member who served me was super nice and had it rectified, the taste and value is pretty good now as it used to be a smaller serving, however the sunfed chicken is now minced up and lost amongst the nachos and tastes super duper oily as if it’s been over fried or something? Would eat here again … cheese, cashew or not should be hot when on a hot dish Thanks team

We had appetizers and drinks with a friend here who is strictly vegan, and we had a great meal and a great experience! We thought that the menu had a lot of choices for appetizers, salads and entrees. They had a good drink and wine menu, also. The food was very good, with very good presentation and delicious sauces, etc. The service was very good and friendly, even after the restaurant got fairly busy. We have been to many vegan restaurants all over the world, and this one matches the best of them. We thought that the prices were very fair and comparable to other restaurants in Thailand area. We would definitely recommend this to all of our vegan/vegetarian friends, and our “omnivore” friends, also!

First time here and so glad I came! Im not vegan, but I do enjoy some vegan meals and love to support the cause...so as a flexitarian, or even a meat lover, you will not be disappointed! The Mushroom risotto was perfect, rich and full of flavor. The bao buns were amazing too (so said my date). Highly recommended.

The restaurant wasn't very busy when we were there so there were plenty of tables to choose from. We got one near the entrance but it did look like they had a back area too. Menu is quite large so lots of different options. We tried the tofu kebabs, mushroom pate, and the Buddha bowl. The mushroom pate was amazing. It was served with bread and you could just slather the pate over it. It had a great flavour. The kebabs were ok. I liked the tofu but the other veggies were just a bit salty. The Buddha bowl was alright. The fried cauliflower in it was quite nice. It was also quite filling. We had the waffle for dessert and that was really good. Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The maple syrup was very good as was the nice cream. A really good restaurant option. Even though it is vegan the food is made well enough that you probably won't notice it's missing meat.

OMG - the food here is Amazing! Best vegan place we've been to in Auckland. Do try it. The service was fast and friendly and lots to choose from on the all vegan menu. Had the benedicts brothers and sun fed "chicken" burger - the texture in this burger was amazing! On a good day you can find parking right outside but I imagine it would get busy during peak times. Highly recommend The Butcher's Son.

The Butcher's Son is perfect, the food is gorgeous and having amazing vegan options is always positive. The stuffed jalapenos and kumara fries were the top favourites though. Service was also absolutely fantastic!

As vegan friendly as it gets. Appears to be an entirely plant based menu. I tried the nachos and they were amazing. Great, friendly staff. Great atmosphere. A very diverse menu. And the options even pleased my non-vegan friend. Absolutely worth a visit, whether you're a plant based eater or not.

I had an amazing lunch there the other day and I was amazed by the flavors! I ordered the rancheros which was really filling and very delicious. The spiciness was just perfect. I also had a cold brew coffee with a side of their own house blend which is almond and coconut milk mix. I definitely recommend to non-vegans as well! Thank you guys! You're doing well!

So, ended up coming here as the wife is going vegetarian!! I had the Pad Thai “chicken” - the dish was pretty interesting. The ingredients were fresh, the taste was ok, the “chicken” was char grilled! Not my style for pad thai BUT did enjoyed the dish! My daughter had the Mac and Cheese she said it was phenomenal, my Wife had the beyond burger and she said it was tasty! The sticky date pudding is a total sugar rush as expected but totally enjoyed it!! The daughter had chocolate waffle was OK. Think the berries should be on the side! The staff are really friendly and had great service :) The place is pretty neat for a busy Friday night! Will be back…

I’m not a vegetarian or vegan. I still enjoyed this place and selection of food. Lovely flavours and choice on the menu. We had an really good experience with the service too and quite enjoyed the gin cocktail. Would definitely recommend this place, especially if you’re a meat eater. You don’t need to have meat on the menu to have a good night out.

Everything was absolutely amazing! We shared many dishes, all suitable for coeliacs (separate gluten free fryer) and vegan obviously, including cauliflower tacos, pea fritters, kumara fries, sunfed chicken and roasted veggies. My boyfriend (not vegan or coeliac) loved everything too and also had pork-style bao buns which he said was delicious. Staff were so friendly and service was quick. Couldn't fault anything, everyone (especially meat eaters!) must go to this place, it proves how delicious plant-based food can be! This will be the future :)

I have wanted to try this place for a while, but my husband (and most regular dining companion) wasn’t keen on going to a vegan place. I finally convinced him to visit for a Sunday lunch and we both enjoyed it. He even said he’d go back. Firstly, the place is huge, which is just as well as it’s very popular. Fortunately we were seated straight away though. The menu covers breakfast and lunch and I see that they now open for dinner on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The smoothies sounded great but it was Sunday lunch, so we opted for an IPA from the mostly Emerson’s selection of beers and a dry riesling from the short but well chosen wine list. I opted for the Buddha bowl, which is a daily special. It was so tasty with falafel, roasted fennel, beetroot hummus, chickpeas and capers. My husband opted for the Taco loco, which had deep fried cauliflower and he declared it very good. We were both very full, so didn’t get to try the raw slices and other cabinet sweet treats, which looked great. Next time.

The food was amazing. Every meal we had including desert tasted so good. We shared the Caesar salad, pea fritters and the mushroom pate and had the Apple crumble for desert. I highly recommend this to any vegans or non vegans alike. (The sangria was killer too)

This restaurant is so amazing! I loved being able to choose anything I wanted off the menu as everything is plant based!! It was without a doubt one of the best meals I have ever eaten. We ordered the artichoke crab cakes, the jalapeño poppers, shiitake mushroom bao buns, and for dessert the chocolate cake with coconut ice cream and the snickers bar! Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or not, this place has something that everyone is guaranteed to enjoy, including fake meat options if that's what you're into. We felt light and happy after our meal and not uncomfortable at all, it was beautifully cooked food. Will definitely be coming back here again for any future special occasions, it is now our go-to place and I recommend everyone to try it. This restaurant is certainly the leading edge on the restaurants of the future. They are showing how good plant based food really is!!

Popped down to The Butchers Son to see what all the hype was about. Place was jammed as I anticipated but a waiter was strait over. Opening week etc etc. Order all three juices for reasons ill never understand. Clean green is definitely the business. Sunrise was ok but I dont really like orange juice so its never going to rock my world. We shared tacos and the burger+fires. Both Dope. Tacos are not huge if your really hungry but excellent flavours. Vegan burger was next level.

Very Good - excellent it offers vegan food and many options on the menu, almost too many. So much is deep FRIED though or covered in oil - super un healthy and gloopy please for a plant based restaurant. TBh not unlike most other restaurants but no need for it. Frying is just plain bad for you and tastes actually pretty bad. Portions sizes should be bigger for the prices - this is cheap food after all unlike meats. Definitely go though and choose a healthier option from the menu I'd say.

Went to the Butcher’s Son today for lunch. Cannot say that I was disappointed but I must admit I was not amazed either. Had the Ceasar salad which was very tasty and the mushrooms patee which is why I am leaving 4 stars stars. I would have imagined that the patee would taste like mushrooms, instead it was very bland, if I had my eyes closed while eating it I would have not guessed that there were any mushrooms in my dish. From a chef point of view I would advise enhancing the flavour with some Porcini powder or truffle oil.

I was really looking forward to going to the Butcher's Son but came away somewhat disappointed. As a vegan I thought the food was unimaginative, a bit bland and there was no need to try and copy meat dishes. There are so many amazing plant based meals around. We get a much nicer and more imaginative meal from My Food Bag Plant Based.

Came here with a friend. Ordered 3 entrees and a burger. The 3 of them where not bad but not amazing either and a little too salty in my opinion. Burger was to my surprise amazing. Couldn't tell it was non-meat and also didn't have a hard time digesting it afterwards as it happened to me with other fake-meat foods.

Butcher’s Son menu is packed with delicious, tasty well thought out meals, with a nice range of options including some meat substitutes good for those plant-curious/transitioning to salads and legumes for those hardcore vegans.. Expect lots of colour, lip-smacking sauces, bold flavours and seasonal ingredients. If you’re in a naughty mood go for a filthy burger and a cocktail or if you’re feeling virtuous a crisp salad with a fresh juice. Happy chilled staff, the best place to eat in Auckland in my humble opinion!

Apart from being nearly $30 for just a salad, the Caesar salad with 'chicken' was absolutely delicious and filled me up more than an average salad would. The creamy dressing was rich with garlic and the whole dish was perfectly balanced. Had the recommended wine pairing which was also tasty. The atmosphere is very relaxed, the staff are attentive yet casual.i treated myself to a cookie too. Other dishes I saw go out to tables also looked hearty, photo worthy and made with care. For vegans looking to splash out on a fantastic meal without having to worry about everything being free from animal products, this will hit the spot.

As a big group of 15 meat eating Polynesians, The Butchers Son surprised us beyond measures. The food was delicious, plentiful and great pricing. Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant and it was all due to the food and awesome host's. The waiters made our first experience of Vegan food an enjoyable and fun one. They were so helpful and attentive to all our many many questions. Will definitely go back for more "meat" dishes.

I enjoyed lunch there. The food was good. Great selection of elements. I had one of their chicken burgers. It was really good. Came with big chunky fries, a nice dipping sauce and salad. Not badly priced. They have a great selection of natural drinks to accompany your meal. The menu has some interesting dishes and I would like to try more. Service needs some support training but has great potential. The people I had with me all enjoyed there meals too. Desert choices are very nice and worth a try. All in all, would be happy to go back and try more.

Absolutely incredible! We had a party of 11 including a baby and they catered for us very well. The staff were so lovely and patient with us waiting for some people who had the wrong time. The food is amazing. Such a great range of plant-based food and drinks. We wanted to try everything. The dessert selection was great and they tasted superb. The hot chocolate and chai latte were amazing. We will definitely be back on our next visit to New Zealand.

Had the most incredible & unmatched experience here. We arrived at 3:25pm and the staff so generously welcomed us to eat despite the kitchen closing at 3:30 and prepared us our order (nachos & sunfed chicken burger) within 10-15 minutes. The food was impeccable. Coming from Australia where the vegan scene is much bigger than New Zealand, This place easily tops the best vegan food I’ve had. The place in itself is so aesthetic, even the bathroom was gorgeous. Hi they have a range of delicious high-protein vegan food - as well as lots of different salads, nachos, burgers, chips, fries, vegan chicken, vegan pork etc. They do this amazing wraparound ethics with no use of plastic as well. After trying a number of upmarket vegan places in Auckland, this is probably my favourite. They have a good variety of fresh dishes, and are not trying too hard to be meat-like. The food was fresh and tasty, the mushroom pate and cauliflower tacos were surprising highlights (I'm not normally a huge fan of pate nor cauliflower!). They have some GF options, would be good to have more. I haven't tried the burgers and desserts yet though, will be back.

Last minute decision to come here. Modern and friendly atmosphere. Despite some bad reviews, our food came to the table fast and we enjoyed it a lot. The burger was the right size and the meal was super filling. We couldn't get a dessert. We will go back for sure as this is an excellent alternative to meat-based restaurants.

This is a really wonderful restaurant, I tried their best burger, and it was exceptional! It had an amazing, soft texture together with a light char that created an incredible flavour. I also really enjoyed their scone, heated and with a bit of butter it had an incredible melt in your mouth texture. I'll definitely come back if I'm ever in Auckland again!

I’m not vegan but this was surprising. Everything we ordered was delicious. Give the “chicken” burger a try. That was superb. Only point was that it was set up to look like an average cafe (cabinet food and full seating) but we ordered from their dinner menu. Items were more expensive when compared to fancy restaurants in the area and considering the ingredients they are using.

I am no vegan or vegetarian but I absolutely LOVED this place! Had the tacos, kumara fries, clean green juice and the “chicken” burger. Everything was out of this world. The tacos were amazing (my only suggestion would perhaps be to mention on the menu that they have a bit of a kick to them!), the “chicken” burger definitely surprised me – it was DELICIOUS. I don’t know how, but they’ve managed to get the texture and flavour just perfect and I can honestly say that I actually prefer this to regular chicken. The kumara fries are without a doubt the best I have ever had (crisp and crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside), and the clean green juice was delicious and refreshing. Large portion sizes too which was nice to see. Service was amazing, and despite being a rather large group of about 10 or so, the food actually didn’t take too long at all. I will definitely be back and will be recommending to all my friends and family. Cannot recommend this place enough!

Very delicious. My Omni partner enjoyed too. I had the tacos and the kids pancakes because I couldn't choose between the full sized dishes. A wee bit pricey at $18 for two tacos but super yummy, great flavours and would get again. Pancakes were decent, if a little dense. We arrived at about 12.15 and left at 1.40 due to wait time on our food, which was a little steep considering it quietened down considerably by the time we ordered. Not to mention, people arriving long after us got their orders before us. I mentioned this to the staff as something they could either improve on or comminucate when ordering. The response was that they tend to move certain orders forward if the same thing is also due to be cooked so sometimes it is a bit uneven. Would absolutely go again given any opportunity. Staff were delightful, and made every effort to find us a seat when we arrived and the place was busy. Beautiful space and so cool to have another yummy vegan cafe around.

Phenomenal would be an understatement. Not only is the menu entirely plant based, the same price as a regular breakfast/ lunch restaurant and DELICIOUS, the staff are super helpful. When visiting for a second time because we enjoyed the food so much the first time, we noticed that they had changed the menu a bit and removed an item that we were keen to try 'breakfast crumble'. I was curious as to why they had removed it so i asked the waiter and he said they have removed some items that required a lot of kitchen prep. Due to this change we ordered the pancakes instead but were still very happy with this decision as they looked delicious. To our surprise before they bought the pancakes out the waiter informed us that in fact they did still have some crumble left and offered us the choice of changing to this. This was very considerate of them and I would recommend to anyone I know, Vegan or non Vegan.

I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan but decided to give it a go anyway as its vegan, meaning plant based thus suppose to be healthy and good for your body. The mushroom bao was a highlight for me. Good flavour. The green salad with soba noodles was really bland and got me wondering why I was paying $22 for salad. Buddha bowl was not bad considering the cauliflowers were deep fried, it was filling and the group ordered a 2nd bowl. The fritters were really oily, no help with the extra oil dressing it came with and was also deep fried. Tried their char shu 'pork' buns and 'chicken' sliders. Didnt enjoy it, the outer parts of the char shu was hard and chewy. The sliders were average. The beyond beef burger wasn't too bad. It was actually quite nice, not greasy and tasted ok for a 'beef' burger. At the end of the day though, it's artificial meat and I am not sure what goes into making these 'meats' to make it taste like meat as I got an allergic reaction after dinner with my skin flaring up in hives. Perhaps, stick to creating dishes that dont involve having to mimic 'meat'.

A 3.5 overall. For our last night in Auckland we wanted to try somewhere that my Uber driver had recommended on arrival (shoutout to her she was a queen with all the recs). Butcher’s Son was one of those places. We made a booking for 6:30pm on Sunday evening and weirdly after doing so never got a confirmation - I forgot to screenshot or write it down so sheepishly had to call and get them to remind me. The restaurant was about 2/3 full when we arrived - a lot of young people which is great to see. The space is big and there’s a nice semi-private area out the back which is good for parties. We were served fairly promptly and ordered the following: Ginger kombucha - was quite flat and tasted a little watered down to be honest. Maybe this was the style and I’ve been spoilt in LA. It was fine, nothing to write home about Salt and pepper tofu - about 8-10 pieces, well coated, seasoning could have had a little more flavour. The sweet and sour dipping sauce on the side helped elevate the dish overall ‘Pork’ buns - we were really looking forward to these and unfortunately they were a complete miss :( the buns were so thick and chewy and really unenjoyable - we ended up removing most of the bun. The whole flavour was completely overwhelmed by the bun still and came across dry Mushroom patè - 100% recommend this dish. It tasted just like the real thing. It’s a big serve with a lot of bread so super filling. They nailed this dish. Overall the meal was good, some let downs. The burgers looked really and the tables around us seemed to be enjoying those. Nice space with some good vegan food

Yahoo. Europe is chocka with great vegan restaurants, and finally we have one in Auckland. Great service, great food, great décor. We had a lovely breakfast there. I don't think it's any more pricey than any other café, especially in Herne Bay. Also they use metal straws, which is double rainbow in my view. We had the Boss Breakfast, the taco loco with sunfed 'chicken', a coffee each, a smoothie and a juice and took away a couple of cakes. All really really good. Big happy face.

Nice but not spectacular, we went for a family get together with allergies being catered for well, apparently there were chef specials but we were not told and no signs in the back room we were in, staff were nice not asked if we enjoyed our meal and charged for complimentary juice -
