F.Had a dinner with a promotion of $20 scotch fillet, so yum! But the pork belly tacos are salty, not recommended. Chocolate brownie is hard not chewy. Service is good, checking on us how are we doing but the servers did not bother to get our vaccine pass.
Overall good experience but not the best dine.
l.The food is amazing. Good sized portions. Service was excellent. This would be my first choice for a great night out.
G.About what I expected and overall it's still feels like an everyday gastropub (i.e. Macs beer bar) that you can find in any suburb, except this one is themed with more of a home lounge vibe from a few tall back chairs to carefully arranged, colour coded book decor. Mains like burgers and tacos get extremely messy but are still good. Shoestring fries are the same old thing. But, to be totally honest, whenever I'm here again someday, I'm going straight for the mozzarella garlic bread starter and maybe just getting two servings of that.
S.Loved 😍 it kids menu fish and chips not big enough fish need to little big if possible. Rest all 👍

I always start with some crumbed chicken and then the main - normally tacos because they make such good ones or the famous chicken schnitzel.

R.Went here for lunch, the service was great and the food was delicious. Had the mussels and the tacos,other meals were battered fish and chips, nachos. All meals were great and reasonably priced. Good selection of beverages available. We will dine there again when next in Auckland. Try it you won't be disappointed 😌

I.You know, some of the really important things about a "Home" are that it's there when you need it, it's comfortable and comes with really good food and company.
So it is with these folk - it's a well named spot for a regular visit; especially when you want to join some enthusiastic supporters to watch a big ABs game or BC match!

R.From the waiter to the chef, they all went the extra mile and delivered an exceptional dining experience for me at The Good Home Birkenhead.
I didn't expect anything fancy available as I'm a vegetarian with special dietary requirement. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, and was back and forth between the kitchen and my table trying to find something I could have from the menu.
Just after I ordered some chips as it's the only thing I could have on the menu, he came back and told me the chef would cook me something special. It turned out to be one of the nicest vegetarian food I have had in a pub/cafe.
Thank you for the excellent service and we'll be back again.

J.I really enjoyed my meal at The Good Home.Birkenhead.Not quite what I was expecting as styled as Gastro experience and it was just standard pub fare which I would like to take.5 of my 5 stars because of prices with a hamburger being 24.00 and a bowl of Vietnamese salad being 25.00 .I have added.5 back on because the staff were exceptional at lunchtime Sat..The chefs cheery, the waitress exceptionally friendly and helpful. Lovely surroundings .Plenty of space.Nice coffee An overall pleasant experience.Would go again .
C.A nice little place to watch sport with good food and reasonable prices. Service was efficient, we were well looked after. My only gripe was the viewing situation for groups and the sound. The place could definitely use a TV and stereo upgrade. But otherwise a good time to be had.

G.I recently booked The Good Home for the end-of-year lunch of my aikido club. The staff were absolutely wonderful, making sure we were comfortable and felt looked-after. The range of beers is more than adequate for my "craft" tastes, and the menu was amply satisfying for everyone. The setting, at the front of the building is light and airy and had ample space for our group, including a few kids as well. The guests kept saying many days afterwards what a great time they had, and that we should do it again! Thank you Duncan and the rest of the Good Home team, you guys are the best!

P.I always enjoy my meal here, its a bit pricey but worth it for a special occasion. Lots of different seating areas for big or small groups. Great for kids, they usually have colouring in activities on hand for them. Cocktails are great, staff super friendly. Recommend the burgers 🍔

J.Been here many times always consistent - the staff are awesome but it always seems they are understaffed, you have to grab a waitress to order, and its easier to get drinks at the bar as the service staff are always overworked. last time our waitress was literally running between tables..... Food is always fantastic for everyone at the table.

T.The Good Home is hard for me to give 4 stars to. But I think the layout and design is worth it. I've only been once and I think it was a music quiz night perhaps? The awful music played about a verse of a song before changing. Worse still, it was cheesy pop like Britney Spears. So I have to go back another time to really get a good idea of the place. I was put off by the distracting music.
I like the way it was set out though. Interesting areas and design. Worth a look. And the staff seemed good. I would call it a stylish pub. Hopefully they play better music on the other nights!

S.Always love going there they have specials and quiz nights too. It can get a little loud when there is a function on but nothing extraordinary. Great beer and nice food well prepared and pretty quick to boot. The prices are OK too and if you keep an eye out for there deal nights you can eat for 2 with drinks under 50 bucks easy. There are a couple of em spread about too so it makes for a good regular.
A.Great pub food and surprisingly great salad! Nice service and atmosphere. The jalapeño poppers were a disappointment - overpriced for what they were! Aside from that, a fab stop in Birkenhead.

The selection of beer is normal. Nothing special and no craft beer.
F.Lovely place. The atmosphere is lovely and as the name says it has a little " home " feeling to it. Food was really nice, self made and the prices were not too bad. We will definitely be back either A for casual dinner with family and friends or for a couple beers and snacks for some rugby.
C.Venison Burger was a hit. Personally did not enjoy the live music on Friday, it was far too loud so I hung outside with the smokers in order to talk.
Not a bad joint at all, just not my type of place. Neat decorating inside a decent menu and reasonable beer selection.

J.Great atmosphere, service and food. The manager was fantastic considering he's a splitting image of Christian Bale. I'm not a fan of most of Christians work but the manager somehow reminded me of his great portrayal of Jesus in the 1999 fim 'Mary mother of God' This was mainly because every time I'd ask him for water, it ended up being wine. From memory it was an Oyster Bay sav and was rather quite nice... If anyone wanted to know.

T.Pleasant restaurant and bar in Birkenhead. Bar food is ok, the usual hot chips etc. It has a private room which which can be booked for functions and meetings. There is a covered outdoor area also. Staff are friendly and helpful. Good place for drink with food. Would recommend.
T.Visit the good home regularly. Staff are always friendly and service is fast. So many choices on the menu but my favourite is the Thai Beef salad.
D.Good pub feel but seeming to be losing some of its 'flare'. One year ago would have given it a 5 out of 5. Food not as good and staff moral seems low. Beer selection is good. A good place to catch up with mates in an evening or with familiy for an evening out. Started doing a quiz night. Great step in the right direction.

S.Wonderful Gastropub in the middle of Birkenhead. Great place to meet up with friends for a catch up. Decent sharing plates menu. Wide range of beer on tap and pretty extensive selection of wines.
Lacks a decent outdoor space which let's it down a little. Especially over the warmer months.
R.We were looking for another restaurant but they were closed so we found this one open and were so surprised. We had such a nice time. There was a small problem with the food bit they very quickly sorted it and even gave us extra as compensation. Lovely environment, great service, friendly and helpful staff. Would recommend this place to anyone. Great family restaurant.

I had to do a double take whilst I was in there as the blonde male manager with glasses looks strikingly like Christian Bale in the movie American Psycho.
Don't get me wrong, he definitely didn't come across as a serial killer, but the defined cheek bones and dapper attire could easily fit in on the red carpet.
I would purely go back to see him even if the other assets of the bar weren't as good.
