Reviews of The Good Luck Coconut
S.
We ate as a group and shared. The food was outstandingly fresh and tasteful with an island flare.
Standout were the tiger prawns, dumplings and chicken salad.
Staff were attentive and friendly. Recommend to anyone who enjoys good fresh food.
R.
Had dinner here on 8/01/22 with my friend. We received great service and yummy food. I especially loved the Mushroom dumplings and enjoyed my Below Deck cocktail. Place also has good vibes with fun catchy music playing 😁❤
A.
Tiki fun on the waterfront. I enjoyed all the cocktails I had in Tiki glasses. 🗿🍹🍸Ranked it 4 star as it would be good to have a happy hour, $20 cocktails adds up quickly! Also ate fries and chicken and they were good too.
C.
If was a busy Saturday night around the Viaduct. Just kept walking until we saw space at The Good Luck Coconut. Name suits it with the thatched umbrellas & island theme. We had a selection of smaller plates & frozen Pina coladas. Crispy chicken, prawns, kumara bread, mixed greens. Everything was yummy.
M.
Went for some afternoon nibbles and a drink with friends. Lovely staff and will need to go back for a main meal. Ribs and dumplings were delicious!
N.
Great food and drinks ...love coming here customer service is great ,the good luck coconut team always give their 100% in customer service.Amzing place
S.
Great location. Beautiful view from the outdoor area which faces the harbour. Nice and cozy indoor area. Staff is efficient and very friendly. Menu doesn't have many choices. You can choose between small portions from $15 to $22 or big portions from $20 to $30. Small portions is quite small. Nothing special about flavors.
B.
Good if you are not vegetarian. I really enjoyed my food and drink but unfortunately my wife's food was average at best and they didn't ask how any of our food was. She had a tofu salad and all it consisted of was plain unflavored tofu and plain coleslaw with no seasoning. Very disappointing as it is easy to do better. Unfortunately we won't be back.
D.
From the moment I inquired about holding my sisters 21st with the Good Luck Coconut to the moment we packed up and left the venue on the actual night, I had nothing but efficient, thorough, helpful and friendly service.
They worked with our program to ensure my sister had the night she wanted. Food was delicious, drinks were yummy, staff were cool, place was vibing!!!
Thank you again for helping us and being there every step of the way :)
D.
Great night out at this fine establishment! Booked with first table and what a great idea. Got to the restaurant on time. Maître D was warm and friendly. Atmosphere was lovely. Enjoyed the decor. Great service. Food appeared quickly.
Cocktails are amazing. We had Zombies and boy were they so tasty! Also by the time I went to drink mine the alcohol that was on fire was all gone and the lovely waitress gave me so more to add.
Highly recommend the fish entree and prawns. Definitely going again and if you add in first table dining here is a must.
M.
We met some friends here for lunch and had a great table outside with a view of the harbor.
The service was prompt and friendly.
They had plenty of beers and wines to choose from and the lunch menu had options for the meat eaters and the vegetarians in our group.
I had the fish sandwich with shoestring fries, and it was moist and delicious. My friend had their fish and chips, which was larger than most lunch portions that I have seen!
My wife had the Good Luck salad with salmon, and she enjoyed it very much.
Overall, good ambiance, great food, good service, great location near downtown and on the water, and a really good dining experience.
We will definitely return and recommend this restaurant to our friends!
I.
We've been here 4-6 times. I remember how impressed we were the first time with the cocktails, for some reason it wasn't the same experience this time. Food is yummy as always however pork ribs had very little pork on it, the list dish we enjoyed. Ika mata is the best one always, then chicken karaage, dumplings and prawns. The service is great!
M.
We were attracted by the nice island style setting and decent menu displayed outside. It seem to be suited for a beach setting. Welcoming and friendly staff. We chose an outside table facing the harbour … Hmmmm… view was nice…. Certainly not a claustrophobic feel. We ordered some of their personalised cocktails. Below Deck (average) and Another Day in Paradise ( sounded better than it tasted). We moved on to frozen Margarita and Frozen Mojito which were yummy. On to the food. Starters of the crispy chicken karaage and dynamite prawns then followed with the rum glazed pork belly and NZ wagyu burger. The chicken was nice and tender and was complemented really well by the ginger condiment . The dynamite prawns really lived up to its name and were dynamite. Wagyu burger a bit too salty but I polished it off. The pork belly was ok. Overall a good experience which I would comfortably rate 4 out of 5. Five for service, 4 for food, drinks 3.5
T.
Best experience had here. Food was exceptional and the $20 cocktails really put a skip in our steps. Wohoo, love, love, love it here.
C.
Great friendly service, food and cocktails were delish and presented well! Nice location looking out over the water and the atmosphere is pretty chilled and relaxed.
Favs of the night were the prawns, beans, and the banana loaf dessert. You can clearly see the attention to detail in presentation and flavor which made each dish really interesting.
We tried about 5 starters, had 2 larger meals and cocktails. Definitely over ordered for 2 people but we were really pleased with everything.
The shitake mushroom dumplings were tasty, and good value for money. I thought that the beef tataki (an addiction of mine) would have been really good had it been sliced a little thinner and the ceviche could have had a little less coconut milk so that the fish shone through even more... but these were just my personal thoughts and both were already so so good as they were.
Thanks team!!
J.
Great atmosphere, fantastic cocktails, chicken side came with plenty of yummy dipping sambal and pork belly was scrumptious - a bit more sauce to smooth out the side of rice we ordered would have been the icing on the cake. Cheers!
T.
Absolutely excellent. Peter was amazing. Many of the our group have messaged me saying what a cool night it was at Good Luck Coconut. We will definitely be coming back.
Thanks
A.
Lovely food and great service! Our waiter was so lovely and I have to say it was the best service I have received from a restaurant in a long time.
The food was great. Went there for the first time and had their August restaurant month special. We got the dumplings, karaage chicken, sliders and dessert to share. The soft shell crab slider was delicious and the chocolate custard for dessert was amazing. Rich but not too sweet.
T.
Probably the best bar/restaurant on the waterfront , absolutely awesome Staff always making sure I was comfortable and the food was 5stars , the beverages were also Fire and overall The Lucky Coconut is THE place to Vibe at!
A.
Good food, nice choice of beer.Ika mata is tasty, bring back Cook Islands memories.Salt and pepper squid is great and tasty, love chilly in it.Frendly staff, makes you feel welcomed.Edamame beens though microwaved, not boiled.
Very reasonable price and good location/ interior design. Will come back for sure.
j.
Love the food here, very creative and taste good. Cocktail is great as well.
Highly recommended.
L.
Great atmosphere and service. However the food was left lacking. Dry pork belly, and the wagu burger and sliders were unimpressive.
T.
For our latest girls catch up lunch, we tried the menu at The Good Luck Coconut in Wynyard Quarter. The restaurant bar is beautifully presented as a tiki bar with pacific rim inspiration. The flow of the place is impressive from indoor to outdoor focused around the bar. Staff is very warm and inviting and the ambiance is bustling, varied with all sorts of patrons and very relaxed.
We immediately ordered some beverages including cocktails Blessed Shores, Missionary’s Downfall, Fantasy Island and a mocktail, Virgin Pineapple & Cardamon Cooler, and the drinks were amazing! It was amusing how quickly and easily drink orders were decided upon and delivered whereas food required more deliberation amongst the incessant yet highly anticipated catch up chatter.
To eat we ordered Sweet Potato Bread, Ika Mata, Crispy Chicken Karage, Wild Caught Tiger Prawns, High Tide and Savoury Coconut Rice. My favorite dishes were the raw fish which was beautifully creamy highlighting the delicate flesh with a hint of lime and the sweet potato bread as it was fluffy and unctuous with gorgeous toasted coconut butter! There seemed to be nothing wild about the prawns and name of the dish preceded the appeal and the chicken was average.
Following on, we settled on the chocolate custard dessert with coffee and it was simply exquisite in depth of flavour of Koko Samoa with mango sorbet and texture with biscuit crumb.
Overall, our lunching experience was wonderful, service was highly attentive with exceptional beverages and very good Pan Asian food. The place lends favourably to catch ups as you could easily sit, eat, drink and talk the afternoon away. The sharing nature of the dishes is good as you can try various items. Highly recommended and worth a try!
M.
Excellent location on the Auckland Harbour. The staff are really friendly and the decor is a lot of fun. Ordered a few of the smaller menu items and they were excellent. Highly recommend the poke if you’re not super hungry, it was delicious.
Also, hands down the best mojito I’ve had in NZ (and trust me, I’ve had a lot!)
A.
Went to the Good Luck Coconut Restaurant last night for the second time and it was as good as the first time early last month! Great ambience, cool music and decor is fab with a fusion of Pacific & Asian menu delightfully presented and absolutely delicious! The service was great too with all the meals coming out at the same time for 8 of us. I would happily go back again & again! Being Samoan I thought their Oka (raw fish) & sapasui (chop suey) were excellent. Keep up the great work Good Luck Coconut!
H.
Our group of 4 had such a wonderful time here! As soon as you walked through the door, you immediately forgot it's in the middle of Auckland winter! Tropical vibe, friendly staff and amazing food! We decided to order all of their entree (except for the sweet potato bread as they ran out) to try a bit of everything and boyy it didn't disappoint. You got to give Sunset with Mandy drink a go!
S.
Had a farewell lunch here for a friend last Thursday. Loved the food but found portions to be small and had to go to another eatery afterwards to find something filling. Photos are of dishes my friends and I ordered. Service was great though. Staff were friendly and attentive.
B.
Met up with a friend and thought that this place would be nice to try since it's new. We didn't book and all the inside tables weren't available, but we were able to get some tables in the semi-outdoor area by the bar facing the harbour. The server was really friendly and helpful. They even let us move tables when there was room inside since it was getting a bit cold.
We were going to order a few things to share but ended up trying the chefs choice menu since they were able to change some of the dishes due to dietary requirements. There were a few things that were a lot better than I thought they would be like the sweet potato bread and the taro leaf wrapped chicken.
The ceviche was nice but didn't have enough acidity. I thought that the white swirls on the plate was tigers milk but ended up being coconut milk. Nice flavours but felt it was a bit off. I found the salmon poke to be too acidic where I thought it would've been cleaner. The pork yakitori stick was nice. The gyoza had good flavour, especially the dipping sauce, but thought the filling was a bit too wet so it almost had a gluggy texture. The taro wrapped chicken was beautifully cooked. personally found the sauce a bit too salty but it was evened out when eaten with the chicken.
The desserts were interesting and not as expected. I found the chocolate custard to be on the bitter side but was nice with the sorbet. The coconut parfait was interesting in both flavour and texture.
Quite a nice place for a meal in Wynyard Quarter. The food is generally quite nice but thought there just some things that needed to be iron out. Considering that they are quite new it is a really great accomplishment.
A.
The food here was really tasty but unfortunately the portions were tiny for what you are paying. $30 for 4 bits of pork belly was super disappointing.
J.
Nice location and service was really friendly. Had lunch here for two and got a range of small dishes to share and one main.
Overall the place was quite good, think the specialty is fish/seafood based as the chicken dish was a bit dry.
Nice location and some great drinks menu!
J.
Was actually going somewhere else close by that fell through then stumbled upon this place. Service outstanding. We chose ti sit outside and the weather started to turn to drizzle..
The waitress took it upon herself to come and help us move the table to a drier area and then the bartender brought over the heater to keep us warm. The extra mile went was such a lovely and rare touch these days. And the food! Our eyes bigger than our stomachs but the food was super delicious and the atmosphere and music relaxing.
A.
I loved the Blessed Shores cocktail and both the dishes that I had, the Ribs and Ika Mata. I would definitely recommend sharing so you get a bit of everything but as I am Coeliac I just ordered two of my own plates and the other two girls I was dining with shared four. The price was probably average for this area (so a little on the pricey side... but the food was worth it!)
PS. A warning for my Coeliac hons, the fryer is shared so the chicken karaage and the shoestring fries are actually NOT gluten free!
C.
Right on the waterfront, great food, and amazing atmosphere too! I've been here for drinks, and then later came for dinner, and both times I was quite impressed! The whole restaurant has a fresh, island theme which I loved. The food is also amazing, and it's all pretty healthy which means you can justify an extra cocktail ;)
M.
Lovely decoration - feels like you are on holidays somewhere. The service was also good, and the cocktails were nice but the food was disappointing. It wasn’t bad but it didn’t stand out, and the portions were quite small.
P.
This was a lovely place. Loved the decor. However being a polynesian myself some of the dishes were pretty average probably a little over priced for the portion size. Not sure if Il come again but I did love the tiki mugs and the decor.
Y.
Cute fusion restaurant island type of view 🏝
Good food and services. Highly recommended
A.
Really enjoyed eating here and choosing from lots of gluten-free (coeliac-safe) options. Lovely atmosphere, great venue and helpful staff even though it was really busy when we visited.
K.
The Good Luck Coconut experience was excellent !!
The food we chose was stunning. Presentation and sophistication top shelf .. the drinks / cocktails refreshing and dangerous .. the waitress was attentive and friendly .. thanks guys we will be back
Cheers Jamie and Kate
S.
Went here for my birthday. Extremely good service, amazing food, drinks and atmosphere. Will be back again.
V.
Fun waterfront location, yum asian infused cuisine. Friendly and lovely staff, the cocts were delicious too
s.
Such a good time!! Food and cocktails are always great and the customer service is bang on
S.
Loved the food we had 8 different dishes and loved each one of them. Only problem was the b....h vaping outside which chocked us.
J.
Cute place for a drink heard the food was really good but we had already eaten. Next time for sure.
d.
Booked a table for nine but it was outside and on bar stools but not suitable for my mum (My fault as I didn't request). However they were quick to change to an inside table more appropriate. Waitress was very attentive but not overly, which suits us. She was very efficient with all our orders and cleared the table promptly whem needed. Atmosphere was good, music not too loud and a good variety. Food was excellent, timely and delicious. We mainly opted for small plates and shared which works well. Large selection of drinks including cocktails. Overall very impressed and long may it continue.
A.
Great spot to sit in the afternoon sun with a drink and taste good food, while looking out over the harbour.
S.
This place has a good range of vegetarian options, it would be better if more of them could be Veganised. I enjoyed my meal but won't be a regular due to lack of choice for me. Atmosphere was a little lacking and music too loud in dining area for group conversation.
K.
Busy Friday and the service was so good & the cocktails were number 1. Staff were fantastic and the glasses were so cool....
J.
Love the place. We had complimentary wines at start and service was amazing. We love the chicken karaage and the steak. Not a fan of the dessert though but overall amazing experience. We enjoyed our 10th yr anniversary dinner. Kudos!
A.
Was here recently with a group. Firstly, the food was great. Lovely location and beautiful decor. Now, typically I’d rather not review at all if I have something negative to say but in this case - it was so bad I can’t not say anything but your bar staff were terribly rude. 4 of them mixing drinks, no one else at the bar but me, and I was completely ignored by all of them. I deliberately waited without interruption as I know things can get busy but this was beyond ridiculous. Others in the party commented on the rudeness. My husband decided to try “jungle juice cocktail” on SPECIAL for $18 and wondered if they had deliberately made it to taste like petrol. It was awful. He asked 3 others to taste it and all said take it back. He couldn’t be bothered being faced with more arrogance. So, listen guys, everything else was amazing. Just please have a strong word to your bar staff.
M.
Very delicious food especially the ika mata raw fish, just wish it came with some carbs. The disc of chopped up fish was the only thing on the plate with some sauce and small amount of crunchy veges mixed in and it cost $22. The drinks are very elegant, sweet and well presented. Definitely on the pricey side, but relaxing environment.
J.
Watched the America's cup there with a pal of mine. Really accommodating to begin with! From making reservations to having our final course, we were blown away by the service and food. We sadly didn't drink any cocktails but i do suggest getting bigger plates and splitting them with your friends. You'll get to taste more of their delicious food. Shall head back next time for cocktails.
C.
Always a good time here with friends with the whole vibe and especially the staff who make the place feel like home.
C.
Great vibe and service, grab the Pork Belly, you won't be disappointed.
a.
Wonderful place, very welcoming and engaging staff, good menu very nicely executed. Good choice of drinks, lovely water view from the bar. The place has a lot of character and a lovely atmosphere, enjoyed my first experience a lot. Will definitely be back for more.
Y.
Ordered two of the $25 three course lunch special. The flavours were pretty good, however portions were small and we had to get Macca's afterwards. The fish of the day was just raw ceviche,, which was not communicated clearly in the menu. Great location and vibe. Matai cocktail and craft beer were good.
E.
We 3 (two Olds + granddaughter) were given a wonderful welcome. Our sunny waitperson showed us to our table in a pleasantly quiet corner. From then on everything was like clockwork.....our queries were answered, followed by the arrival of our drinks and then the dishes. Each one was a delight. We intend to return and soon. Thank you all.
V.
Cool place, atmosphere was great on a sunny afternoon. Can't say anything about the food as we only had beers and cocktails but I did have a look at the bar menu and I was pleased to see they have vegan and gluten free options.
L.
Dropped in here last night for a wee snack and drinks.... first time here. Had a lovely time. This place has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Friendly staff too.
Definitely will be going back to try the main day menu 😋
Thanks for the experience 👍😊
H.
It was ok, I wouldn't rush to go back but I wouldn't overly object if it was a majority choice of the group I was with
T.
Awesome place for a group setting. Service was amazing and so attentive. Food was on point and overall just a super cool vibe. Would definitely recommend
K.
We tried the "restaurant month" Menu. Three of us so we could try all the three choices. (Dumplings, ribs and the raw fish) Wow, absolutely beautiful, all of it! At $25.00 for bred and butter, a small dish and desert. Fantastic!
Staff was super good, which doesn't seem to be the norm anymore, so other places should learn from You, 😄, thanks for a perfect meal before the theater.
T.
My daughter Katie and I had a stunning memorable meal at the good luck coconut as we always do there!!! And the cocktails were outrageously creative with mind blowing flavours - and as usual there - all the staff are super experienced and knowledgeable with a friendly approach - I’d recommend the good luck coconut for any and all occasions!!!
V.
Hi We went had valentines set dinner- it was amazing a great mix of flavours. Staff ensured courses were sent out and arrived when we wanted. Helpful friendly service. A great night out!
K.
We dined at the Good Luck Coconut for our 25th wedding anniversary, we were placed at a great table and treated to a complementary glass of champaign. The staff were amazing, very friendly, offering great service.
Very cool tropical themed restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere.
The food had great flavours and was presented beautifully. The Ika Mata was. incredible! We will definitely dine here again.
R.
Positives: Good vibes and friendly staff. However they do not really cover for: poor food quality, small serving sizes. The "tempura" fish and chips I had, the fish fillets were like cardboard. "Daquiri" that is basically tequila with some pineapple juice.
Honest review to facilitate positive change, given we will be hosting a lot of international visitors in this location soon. Currently, not good enough.
I.
Large group visit, Great service & food.
A.
5 star across the board! Amazing customer service, we had a French guy serving us (so sorry I can't remember his name) but he was so lovely, very hospitable and the scenery is perfect, right by the waterfront! Everything we ate was full of flavour, some of the dishes reminded me a little bit of the islands, the ika mata, was beautiful, different to what I'm use to in a raw fish but they put their own spin on it and presented beautifully. The fish was soooo fresh and delicious, if I was being picky maybe could've had a bit more acidity from some citrus? Also had the tempura crab sliders, they were so good! Full of flavour and a bit of spice and the kumara bun was good. Pot sticker dumplings were delicious (vegan too) and the wild caught tiger prawns were so fleshy and meaty yum yum yum. The good luck salad with the squid was my favourite had hints of mango balanced out with the spice and the squid was cooked to perfection, it's a must have meal. To finish off we had the yuzu tart, so light and satisfying and the mango and coconut sorbet (vegan option nice light dessert to finish off. I was so impressed that the menu catered to so many dietary requirements, gf, vegan, dairy free most of the meals had the option even the dessert. I tried the pineapple mule cocktail, literally best cocktail I've had ever!!the alcohol was not strong as it was the more mild cocktails but that's how I like it, it was super refreshing! Thank you chefs and waitors at good luck coconut for the beautiful experience!
P.
The vibe of the place and the food were amazing and I loved every second if it.
H.
Shared a number of small plates amongst friends and enjoyed everything I tried, in particular the ceviche and beef tataki. Their house lager was quite good too. Service was fabulous, we were well looked after all night. Would gladly go back again.
S.
Went here this evening the staff are awesome very friendly and lovely spoken and service was on point really grateful for that. Now The food pretty good surprising we were all full by the end. I really loved the chocolate custard ohh man to die for and my strawberry Mojito mocktail was really delicious. So my main was the nz wagu beef burger it was pretty dry and it didn't have any of the juice fat I was expecting but the fries were nice and crunchy with a nice tomato sauce with a bit of spice and sourness that was nice. We also shared the squid pepper plate and dumplings and Ika mata and tiger prawns the best was the fresh fish the ika mata then the dumplings and squid were even the crunch and sauce is delightful. The meals I had all round were good bar the wagu beef burger. The price is somewhat but I think flavours and experience and service is good. Thank you I had a great dinner 😊
J.
We had a fabulous evening celebrating our Wedding Anniversary! We ordered the Chefs Choice menu! So everything was chosen for you! A surprise to what would turn up at the table. Everything was fantastic and plenty of food! You won’t go hungry. Fantastic service and loved the cocktails 🍹 Will definitely be back.
K.
The food was fantastic. Loved everything I had. And the mai tai was delicious too
K.
Went here as part of the Auckland Food Month. Had the $25 set menu they were offering as part of this month. Really tasty food and beautiful presentation. Great range of drinks varying from reasonable prices to pricier options but something for everyone. Nice to sit out in the sun and watch the world go by and enjoy the sea air too.
T.
Went for a Sunday family lunch to try something a little different. Especially as two of them are vegetarian. Food was great but have to mention the outstanding service. Even with the Covid restrictions.
Fast tasty food and attentive service. Was a very nice occasion thanks to the staff @ Good Luck Coconut.
B.
We had a great time here, booked via first table so we received 50%off food for early dining. Good selection of share plates including vegetarian options. I had Tuna for the main which was good although more cooked through than i would have liked it, my wife had the heirloom carrot dish which was good but a bit of carrot overload ( maybe some halumi or a floured couscous cake etc just to break it up. But all in all great value , service and food. And delicious cocktails!
C.
This place is relly nice, just feeling like holiday in this tiki/island style restaurant. Very good Asian/Pacific food and the cocktails are amazing as well. Stuff is always nice and helpful. I will always come back.
J.
Love this place! Great atmosphere, great cocktails and amazing food! Service was attentive and our waitress was really lovely! Will definitely be back!

Neo-Pacific / Contemporary / Fun / Casual / Popular
The Good Luck Coconut pulls off the dual feat of being able to generate an electric vibe to set you up for a terrific evening in the Wynyard Quarter, whilst at the same time serving up some of the most adventuresome dishes in central Auckland today.
The menu is both exceptionally fun and unabashedly urbane, offering a broad range of choices with a decidedly umami-seeped Pacific tapas flare. Many of the items on offer are vegan, dairy free and/or gluten free, making it an ideal spot for groups of friends with diverse dietary needs. Despite the generous portions, the most difficult decision you'll probably have to make in the evening will be when to cut yourself off from ordering more plates! Dessert and drink menus contain many classic and reliable choices, in addition to a few new comers, and ultimately continues to surprise you with the care that goes into every order.
The staff proved to be attentive, fast acting, and tremendously friendly. The Hawaiian shirt dress code they seemed to abide by was an excellent touch, which in addition to with the Caribbean music and Polynesian-style furnishings, perfectly conveyed the atmosphere of the tropical idyll.
R.
Great atmosphere, attentive staff, awesome range of tiki mugs! Food was always interesting and the charcoal grill flavour is outstanding.
S.
Just stopped by after watching Americas cup for some drinks with my GF, turns out first waiter bought us the wrong drinks, and than we waited waited waited and asked if our food is on the way and turns out they even forgot to put our food on, in the end they gave us fries on the house which is appretiated but making lots of mistakes even when they werent even busy is quite bad. Overall the staff is polite just need some more training i guess.
F.
Friendly and quick service. Food and drinks were reasonable at good price.
C.
Food was yumm, service was good. And we loved the fact that the kids menu actually came with veggies that a young child is likely to enjoy!
T.
Lauren made the event planning process so easy and stress free. The team were great on the night, making sure food and drinks were served in a timely manner. Definitely recommend as the venue for your next event!
S.
We came here to check it out as part of our restaurant month adventures. The coconut fish ceviche was delicious. The ratios of the banana pudding to salted caramel sauce and ice cream were not well balanced but it was tasty enough.
L.
Great service and great food.
B.
Pot stickers were delicious and the cocktails were nice. We ordered a starter/side salad which was literally a few leaves of lettuce and some slices of radish - I don't think there was even dressing. Ambience was good and staff were friendly.
I.
Great location. Very nice atmosphere. Very attentive service from the whole team, and in particular, the Slovakian waiter. Portion size was okay for me but felt a tad small for NZ standards. Overall, very good.
L.
Great food, great cocktails, cool digs
S.
Welcoming. warm attentive service, good food - we mostly shared all the small plates, one had the wagyu hamburger with a plateful of chips and it disappeared quickly. A great location. A solid four stars. Look forward to returning
B.
We dined on Sunday evening and chose one of the sharing platters, the food was quickly served and delicious, we did query if our karange chicken had been properly cooked as it looked a little pink. The waitress quickly whisked it away and was back shortly to advise it is that colour due to the marinade but as a sign of goodwill we received a fresh portion. We had only selected the coconut rice to accompany the platter so my teenage dining companion was still a little peckish and we finished with the Samoan cocoa mousse which we would highly recommend.
A.
Very good restaurant. Worth everytime
T.
Extremely impressed . Everything was great from the beginning till the end. Menu was part of a promotion and I add a few things that really improved the experience.
Would like to see how is in a busy service but was an enjoyable lunch for sure.
d.
First table booking, we arrived late traffic we were seated promptly, ordered 2 cocktails & food. Orders came quickly. Also had dessert & a liqueur. We were in a bit of a hurry as going to 7pm show. Traffic was horrendous as usual at that time. All in all a great evening.
M.
The wait staff really are good at their job. The food is delicious, the entrees I think are better than the mains esp. the sliders so share a few rounds of entrees. The pork katsu burger is great but could do with the cheese. Cocktails are awesome.
K.
Confusing theme - "Talofa" on the sign outside, but nothing in the menu suggested a Samoan inspired dish, except for the coconut added to just about every dish! We had a $25 special menu. The ika mata (Cook Island dish) was disappointing with an overwhelming amount of thick coconut cream. I've had better ika mata for $5 from the shops in Otara/Otahuhu etc where the coconut cream is actually liquid! The ribs were dry. The sweet potato bread rolls entree were nice, as was the dessert. Quick friendly service. Just let down by the mains really.
K.
Awesome customer service, beautiful venue and awesome food
E.
Great ambiance- fun & bright. Yummy asuan inspired food & lots of cocktails & drinks to chose from, prompt service & fairly good when handling a small mishap.
J.
Great Food and a chill vibe ..... just what you need after a look week. Loved the raw fish dish, the Shiitaki mushroom noodles and the bbq beef .... and more. We'll be back!
R.
Great spot! Incredibly wonderful selection of food. Well presented, great service, and extremely well flavoured with just the right amount of spice. Could do with some different options on beers, maybe with some island selections. Overall though can't complain.
J.
Awesome food and super friendly staff :) .. we went in a group of 10; quick service, food was delicious, all the orders spot on, cool vibe and really yummy cocktails.. what more could you ask for! Definitely recommend it. Thanks guys for a great night!!
V.
Great place to wind down after work in a great location. The presentation of the food was beautiful especially the tiger prawns and Ika Mata. Taste wise did not disappoint either - everything just went so well together. Karaage chicken was a standout in flavour which I was pleasantly surprised about. Would return although a little on the pricey side.
M.
The wait staff were awesome, the vibe was relaxed and the cocktails delicious, like spectacularly good. Food was also pretty good, not mind blowing but yum
B.
Went for a birthday lunch today, with a set menu, $38. Had options for all diets which was cool. It's new, so it was pretty disorganised. Coffee took 25min somehow to come out, portions were really small, and overall, the experience was average.
Tasty food, but loads to work on service and portion size.
F.
Such amazing flavours, with mixes of spice and fresh asian flavours to enjoy a summer sunset. Favourite dish was the fish main. Perfect location with plenty of outdoor seating with direct views across the harbour. Gets very popular and busy in the early evening before the sun sets, but there's always a table available in the large restaurant that goes right inside
M.
Generally the food is great. Not so fond of the dessert but this is a personal preference.
T.
We had our Christmas Party for around 100 people and the staff were amazing. Nothing was a problem, they were calm, friendly & very attentive. The food was delicious too. Highly recommend
I.
Really cool Tiki bar on the water. Great location, chilled vibe. Would be amazing on a warm sunny afternoon.
A.
Wanted to Love it, found myself disappointed.
We eat out a lot, across a variety of places and a fair bit of fine dining, so we know what to expect usually. I'll start with the positives first. It's a *lovely* environment that really does a great job of making you feel you could be in a restaurant in Maui, or on an island in Fiji. The menu is pretty comprehensive and on message. What isn't quite so good, is the food portions, and some of the service left us feeling like we just weren't wanted. Our waiter lacked a bit of warmth and friendliness. There were 2 adults and a child in our party of 3, and we ordered 4 small plates and a large. We left hungry and feeling like we didn't get value for money. There were a couple of high points, the TiMata was really well executed, but the Poke had a lot of rice and a little less Salmon than we might have expected, and we couldn't really 'taste' the salmon because of the mayo it was in. It was presented nicely. The bread was warm and nice, and a novel colour my son enjoyed, and the butter was magnificent. The other dishes were the Tataki, which wasn't terrible, but we didn't personally enjoy the interpretation of it. The biggest problem really was the main dish we selected. It's $28 and vegetarian and sounds AMAZING, but in reality it was barely bigger than a side, with small but nice looking multicoloured carrots, with a lovely Labneh sauce. It's described as having charred Aubegine, but what we got was TINY, overcooked to the point of being nearly solid. As described it could have been a signature dish, and one I had been looking forward to trying, but was ultimately really small. Certainly not a main meal for even my 9 year old son, who isn't a big eater. I feel this restaurant really seriously needs to look at it's portion sizes and menu prices, because as much as I like fine dining and understand portions are usually smaller but higher quality, this missed the mark by a mile for us. My wife and I disputed sending it back and opted to not, but did try and give some feedback as we paid, but were met with a very defensive "this is a fine dining restaurant and our portions are sized accordingly". If they rectified some things, we would be willing to come back, as it's got the bones of a place that could be MAGIC, but it's not quite right in our opinion right now. Bathrooms were clean and modern.
A.
Came here as a surprise on my island themed hens party and wow; I fell in love. Fish was do fresh, food had amazing flavour and the cocktails were spectacular. I have made reservations to come back already.
B.
If you like food with a difference, this is the place, a taste of paradise. The food, staff, service and location was all fantastic. I will be back for some more raw fish.
K.
Wow.. I cannot wait until our next visit to Goodluck Coconut. Super impressed all round. The 4 of us went to dinner last night and I was first struck by the cool decor and comfortable chairs. The wait staff stepped it up by bringing our drinks order and placing the correct beer or cocktail in front of each of us without the ‘who’s having the ....’ typical of many restaurants. And my Cosmo? Just what dreams are made of!!! (I had a second one, just to be sure!)
The food menu for all of us was a challenge because it all sounded so good.... and it was! We agreed a variety of smaller plates to share would be the go and what an experience.... presentation and taste - outstanding. I had expected to eliminate some and narrow my order for next time, but hand on heart I would have every single one again...
Service was exceptional... wait times for drinks and food excellent
To The team at The Goodluck Coconut... a standing ovation from the 4 of us. You deserve the 5 stars I have awarded
G.
Fabulous food and the service was good too! Had one minor mistake on service but they were quick to fix and apologise which was fantastic! Will definitely be back as the cocktail selection is the best.
C.
Visited on 1st day of 2019 😁, great spot with Tropical touch! Nice light food with enough flavors.
Like the decor, color schemes, especially the painting on the toilet floor golden fish with lotus 😊!!!
Friendly services too, love this place....
V.
Excellent fast service and a great design, the Tiki Bar is fun and there were some nice cocktails and an okay wine list. The food was mediocre though. I was really looking forward to the Ika Mata (raw fish) but didn't think Trevally was going to be right so passed on that. My "flame grilled" prawns were half cooked and obviously done with a gas flame. It was pretty disappointing and from the look of it everyone else' food just missed the mark. None of my 7 co-diners raved about how great the food was sadly. It just needs a bit more effort and imagination to get it over the line and become a great place for drinks as well as food.
S.
My partner and I decided to try these guys out as they were connected to Little Jimmy's in Epsom, and we had enjoyed our visits there. Nice spot on the Waterfront, the people were lovely, greeted and helpful service. The decor is in theme and the restaurant well laid out with several different spaces.
We shared 5 small plates: Ika Mata (Raw Fish coconut) Crispy Chicken Karaage, Smoked Pork Ribs, Crab Sliders, and Shoe string fries. For dessert we shared Coconut Parfait, Chilled Pineapple Soup, Rum, and Chocolate Custard, Koko Samoa, Mango Sorbet, and had two glasses of red wine. It was all delicious.
The price were fair and reflected the quality of the food. Definitely go back again and try a few other items (the Pot Sticker Dumplings looked amazing) and try a cocktail or two.
C.
Great food and beautiful restaurant.
C.
Greeted warmly by the waiter. Another waitress took our order and she quickly advised us to expect the platter will come after the other food - which is good .Food was tasty and fun. Will be back.
D.
Wow, what a gorgeous new spot! I work in Wynyard Quarter and a friend suggested we head in there on a Friday after work for a drink and I'm so glad I did! I've since been for lunch and found the whole vibe a real escape for an hour from work...the food was delicious (recommend the crispy chicken!) and the staff were super nice - with great shirts!
Y.
I could not criticise the service or the ambience. I had read some reports on teething problems with being a new restaurant and they seem to have overcome these. However the food was disappointing. There are a no.
of Asian Fusion restaurants in Auckland now and so we know what to expect. However the food parings at the Good Luck Coconut were underwhelming and in general underpar. I definitely think they need to revisit the menu if not the chef. Sorry, but the combinations were weird for want of a better description.
D.
Great atmosphere and location. Food really tasty (except beef skewers, which were a bit plain). Good service.
P.
Excellent and attentive service, food and cocktails were delicious and well presented. Would recommend for a night out around the Quarter!
A.
Had free range pork ribs as a snack - awesome. Interesting menu, friendly staff. Different beers on tap though it's a cocktail bar. Would choose it again.
N.
We shared about 6 of the smaller plates between two, we enjoyed them all, from the pickles, bread and raw fish dish, to the raw beef and dumplings.... And our fav, the karachi chicken. We also sampled 4 of the cocktails which were just yummy. We really recommended the Good Luck Coconut.
T.
Went there with a party of 10. Food was amazing and had decent prizes. Great atmosphere with awesome service. Definitely will return for more!
H.
Came here for a drink with a friend. The staff were really helpful and nice. We had a couple of wines and they had a reasonable quality wine list and some good choices. Would definately come back here again.
C.
Awesome place good drinks
M.
Great place . Loved the coconut beer no not made of coconut lol.
S.
Went to The Good luck Coconut for a pre-theatre dinner and we were not disappointed. Just loved our shared entrees of Soft Shell Crab Sliders and Ika Mata, fresh and delicious. Main course of Yakatori Chicken Salad was wonderful as was the lightly battered Tempura Fish and Chips. Shared a Coconut Parfait dessert, again scrumptious. Lovely friendly staff, we will definitely return.
A.
Excellent food, well priced, in a well decorated but not overbearing environment. The staff were friendly and accommodating, we'll definitely eat here again.
J.
Sweet potato bread was amazing! So was the Ika mata and the pork ribs!! Paired with the Akarua sparkling Rose it was a perfect meal. Service was spot on and the restaurant decor really cute and relaxing.
P.
Dropped in for a quick refuel while cycling.
We were regulars to the Wynyard Quarter at one stage and while a nice outlook across the water to Rangitoto $11.50 for an on tap Pilsener seemed pricey.
The shared tempura fish and chips were very good.
With such a line up of eating places within an easy stroll of the cruise liner dock they probably all survive by supplying slightly overpriced drinks to cruise passengers.
The GLC seems to do this pretty well.
A.
Food was great, however I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to families. No high chairs, no nappy change facilities, no kids menu. We were made to feel quite unwelcome when our baby’s nappy needed changing and we were told we couldn’t change it anywhere on the premises.
F.
Great place on the waterfront. The food was outstanding and the coconut soft serve was to die for! Lots of gf and df for those if us who don't have a choice about it. Definitely going back.
C.
Great atmosphere in summer with water views. Service is attentive and friendly. Food generally great but salty at times.
X.
Friendly staff and good food
o.
Amazing atmosphere and wonderful hospitality had my husband's Birthday celebration everyone enjoyed, Thankyou Peter & staff.
H.
Very good food, karage, ribs and katsu burger were amazing and well worth trying. Very good cocktails and cider too as well as really good service. Definitely worth a visit
S.
Loved the atmosphere, food and drinks but the staff could have been a little more attentive, it took quite a while for the waitress to get to us for us to order.
N.
Wouldn’t recommend this place. It has a great location and a chill vibe but it’s let down by overpriced small portions with average taste. Cocktail also not great - a bit tasteless.

k.
Pretty nice dinner.
Y.
Went there for team lunch and food was good, but not as good as the dinner options they have. Great cocktails though. Would come back for that.
A.
Good service, good food and good vibe. Some plates are definitely better value than others - ika mata a bit lacking and quite expensive for example but the $10 daquiris were great!
C.
Its was so good BUT took ages for the drinks to come out! They need to be faster 30min wait after you have paid is a bit meh! But great bar and odd toilet conversation with people you dont know
N.
Went there for restaurant month. Great service from our Waiter, Tyrone.
Food was delightful and really enjoyed the atmosphere.
S.
We got the chef's choice menu. The food just kept coming. We were very full and contented. Delicious
B.
good location, good view, food is ok, but not good enough to match the price!
Stuffs were friendly! will go again, but properly not that often!
J.
The GLC did pretty good food and drinks, but drink service in particular was really slow, and although it is beautifully decorated, it's really noisy.
E.

S.
Light and fresh tropical atmosphere and decor. Relaxed and friendly staff. Delish cocktails.
D.
Really lovely location, and beautiful fresh, healthy food! Great place for a leisurely catch up!
D.
Had a great time there. Everything was great even though it was like 100 of us. These guys can handle big groups without any hiccups.
