We've enjoyed several meals at The Spice Rack & have found the food to be of a consistently high quality with authentic flavours, just the right element of spiciness & always delivered with genuine, warm service. Highly recommended!

What a delightful surprise finding this tucked in a corner restaurant. The food is 5star, the right amount of 'gravy' in proportion the the meat. The flavors took me by surprise in how original they are. The service is so friendly and polite. My husband traditionally doesn't like indian but he too loved the food as they made it mild for him. I've been 3 times now and can't wait to go back again to try new things. Not to mention the gorgeous dining room and comfy chairs. You won't be disappointed trying this one. :) PS.. the 15.00 lunch is quite substantial and with fresh made Naan, Yummo.

The taste that's very close to our local food in India. So far we tried thier chicken pan fried rice, Indo Chinese chilly chicken and paneer Tikka. So good that it made us go back to our old days of tasty authentic Indian food. It's a very decently busy place and there is a good number of regular customers and heaps of take away orders. If you like Indian hot, ask for hot dishes. You will never regret. Now it's one of our go to places in Albany for dinner. It's best to book in for tables if it's during weekend and also let them know if you don't want to wait for food. They will give you amble time to talk and then serve food as that's the kiwi culture. I was really impressed with so many vegetarian options available; however, the flavours seemed to be a little underwhelming for the dishes I ordered (vegetarian platter (missing samosa) + vegetable korma + pakora kadhi). Perhaps I need to try other dishes or have a different expectation but I was expecting multiple flavours to hit my taste bud rather than singular flavour coming from each of the dishes. 2.5-3 stars out of 5.

Excellent curry especially the dal. We are vegan and English and there is a great choice, of Indian food in Bradford, Birmingham, Leicester and London, but this ranks amongst the best.

I have eaten at many Indian restaurants and just keep going back here. The food is incredible, full flavor and not watered down like many others. Onion Bhaji is great, I have tried so many dishes here but cannot decide if I have a favorite.

Very nice tastefully decorated upmarket indian restaurant with excellent food that is packed with flavour. My favourite is always tandoori chicken. Service was friendly and warm. A great place for that dinner date where 1st impressions count

We decided to try this place as we love a good Indian curry and they were advertising 20% off dine in dinners tonight . The food was average but cheesy garlic naan was good. The Staff were very polite and service was fast and efficient. Just disappointed that we didn't get the 20% off our dinner as advertised. ***UPDATE*** OK we're very impressed! The Owner called us and apologised for the mistake and offered to refund the discount but we've decided to give them another chance to impress and will be dining there again next week when she has promised to make sure we get our discount even though the discount period will be over. Delicious food served here and in very big servings. The staff were a delight and polite. taking into account people with allergies they had great options for vegans and vegetarians. Would recommend there is plenty of seating available for dining and they also do takeaway.

We love the spice rack!! It’s hidden away from the main road but was such a great find. We have subsequently come here to celebrate the birthday of each member of our family. Amazing curries, and we really have sampled every Indian cuisine in Auckland. My go-to the Palak paneer is done beautifully, and the samosa pack an excellent punch. Can not recommend enough!

We were looking for an Indian Restaurant which did not use only sauce and cream to most of their dishes and we saw their menu online which appealed to us..we were a group of 11..pre-ordered our meals a few hours earlier and we really impressed with both the service and menu. Well deserving of 5 stars. I've eaten at many Indian restaurants and this has been my best experience so far. The service was amazing, it was a very well presented restaurant, very well priced and to top it off the food was amazing! I had the Chicken Tikka Masalla and it was the most authentic I've ever had. My partner had the Butter Chicken and of course I had to indulge in it also, needless to say it tasted amazing! Would definitely recommend to all!

The best Indian food on the shore by far! Amazing vegetarian choice which can be quite hard to find. Curry is always perfectly spiced, great service and the garlic naan's are delicious. Spices were amazing!! The samosas, naan and butter chicken cooked well!! 😊 Did find the dhal on the watery side, not as much lentils and chicken in our currys and samosas are small sized... however the spice level was well received!! We prefer thicker, less loose curries though. 🙂

Awesome food, great choices and quality. You can dine in or take out or even order for parties. We ordered for a get together of small group. Although it was bit pricy for what we wanted but no regrets as the quality of food was great and good quantity too. They cater to your taste. Highly recommend it.we ordered veg cutlets, sheel kebabs, hariyali paneer, malai tikka, kadhai paneer and chicken mirchi wala with naans. Everything was top quality. I brought 4 teenage boys with me to The Spice Rack, 2 of which had never tried Indian food and 1 that does not like Indian food. The two that had never tried it are now Indian food lovers and begged to come back 2 nights later! The staff at The Spice Rack allowed the one boy who does not like Indian to bring in a burger from Burger Fuel so that he could eat with us. The staff was so nice and accommodating. I have eaten Indian food all over the world as it is my favorite type of cusine. The Spice Rack was one of the best meals I have had at an Indian Restaurant. The food was perfectly spiced, and the Nan was the best I have ever had. The service was very quick. This is a great place to take your family. If you are new to Indian food, I highly recommend the mild Butter Chicken or the Tanduri Butter Chicken to start, with garlic Nan. Enjoy!

Very tasty. Staff were very polite and humble. Food was served very efficiently and quickly. We had a chat with the manager too who was friendly. The Lamb Madras was excellent and the garlic naan was really good too.

Ordered to pick-up through the website, very easy and straight-forward. I arrived at the time given and the food was all ready with a very polite server at the FOH. We ordered 2 butter chickens, 4 garlic naans and a roti. They were absolutely delicious. No faults! A lot of places in Albany make their BC too creamy and their naans too thick or without enough garlic. Not here!! We were so pleased with our meals, the price and the service. A++.
