D.Friendly staff with a good selection of drinks and a decent food menu. Food is quality with good flavour and portion sizes. Nice sheltered outdoor area. Well worth a visit.
S.My friend and I visited this Light Blue gem in pretty Whitford and were greeted by a polite and friendly host. The table didn't suit and she moved us to another table no problem. Our waitress from Alaska was an absolute delight! She was warm and attentive, serving us delicious food and drinks, lovely fresh decor. Destination restaurant worth it.
B.we tried this place first time approx 1 month ago. Ever since the first visit, this place became our weekly routine. It's that good. Both dinner and brunch menu is excellent, super friendly service and very kids friendly (my daughter love their kids combo). I'm sure we will continue visit here more. Perhaps the only complaint is we wish there's more mocktail selection for the non-alcoholic drinkers :)
J.Came across this place as I drove pass to the beach and honestly so glad I stumbled upon this place. I was lucky to book it for tonight and the staff were wonderful and down to earth!! Absolutely generous, there were waitstaff who served us this evening, unfortunately I didn’t get the name of the pasifika lady who served me but her and Harry are absolute legends!! Absolutely kind and the food was exquisite, I’m incredibly satisfied, will definitely stop by again. Had a really good Sunday roast and incredibly generous on their price. They had some decent specials. Finished it off with a chocolate Sunday which is to die for, can’t wait to come back again :)
A.A wide range of drinks and a appealing menu of pub style options. Perhaps the music / videos could have been more conducive to chat with friends. Great that the outdoor heaters are on in the late afternoon.
J.The entre' menu is pretty good. I didn't like the ribs here. A bit too dry for my liking. They did offer to replace the ribs for new ones. I like this place. And other things in the menu are pretty good.
J.Very food service. Staff were friendly, prompt, and always checking in to see if we were ok and if we needed anythjng else. Food was also very good. We would recommend the brisket pie as well as the mushroom pastor. Quite the busy place for a Tuesday but still plenty of space to have your privacy.
G.Finally a great place to eat in our area. It has changed hands many times and the current owners deserve to be very successful. Plenty of space to keep your distance in the current situation, especially at lunchtime, great service, great menu and excellent food. An A grade certificate. Easy wheelchair access and dog friendly.
There is an Express lunch menu for $14.50 with lunch sized portions as well as a brunch and full menu. All reasonable.
The coffee was perfect. Not a trace of bitterness.
I can recommend their pizza but will be back for the beef and ale pie, english style which my neighbour is still talking about. It has mushy peas and mashed potatoes for those who like to be reminded of England.
R.Such a lovely place to sit at dusk and enjoy a drink. I actually went here by myself to kill time and read my book and the staff were really lovely. They turned the outdoor heaters on at my request because the Autumn night air was getting a bit cool and they also enabled me to get a half portion of wedges (because there's no way I'd be able to do a whole one to myself). Have seen it going off on a Friday afternoon in the Summertime! Will hopefully be back next Summer to join them.

Food was good, but service was outstanding.
Just a team of 2 but they were energetic and every table was looked after. Sure it was quieter than usual, but still around a dozen tables, all happy.

L.Dropped in by chance so not planned wasn't sure what to expect. Wow! Decor is inviting - like a city bar with country comforts. Service was impeccable! Honestly could not have been more genuine and informative. We were impressed. Chose the recommendation of the pie not on the menu from the gentlemen serving us and seriously! Pub type food-ish - and more - yet quality that surpassed our expectations. The lamb pie was so tender and cooked to perfection. The cauliflower and broccoli served with it were perfect and even the fries impressed. It is a real tribute if I do not use ketchup on my pie and fries so there you go - I didn't! Nothing was left on the plate. My bestie ordered dessert Sticky Date pudding which I said I would just have a bite - If I could have would have eaten the whole thing. So do I recommend going here? oh yes I surely do! Highly recommend in fact. A lovely ambiance with lovely people who help you enjoy the experience. Thank you Stables for a surprisingly lovely few hours. Bestie and I rated our experience 12 out of 10. See you next time.

M.We love this place, it’s fast becoming our favourite for the weekend breakfast, not in the least because we can bring our dog. The standard breakfast selection is well presented and tasty. The bread is home made and yummy! Even a keto option which I tried last week, and very much enjoyed. Great coffees too! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The toilets are clean and nicely presented (it matters to me 😃) The setting in the middle of Whitford village is picturesque, we love it. The deck is closed in and heated. We’ll be back!

Went for lunch with a friend who ordered avo on toast (which was lovely but a little dry) and I ordered the Korean fried chicken entree. However when they brought my chicken, it was not what I expected at all, but rather more of a pan-fried chicken tenders in a satay sauce - a very apparent Thai dish rather than Korean.
The dish was still very tasty and I would recommend, however I suggest adjusting the menu so customers aren’t taken aback but receive what they expect.
C.Food was delicious, creme Brule was worth every penny. Thank you Teagan for your wonderful hospitality.

Nice vibe, though not sure if The Stables are trying to be a sports bar or more restaurant style pub?
The food is extremely average given the high price, but if you're Bill Gates & money isn't an issue I'm sure you can enjoy your typical kiwi pub meal here.
The staff, chef, & general service is 10/10. Chef delivered some of the food himself & checked everything was good.

E.6 of us came to the stables today for a birthday lunch, first time for us all. Lovely building but freezing cold and unpleasant to walk in to. Charming and helpful waitress. The two that choose off the blackboard menu (soup of the day and the vegetarian curry) had the stand out dishes and the ones the rest of us wish we had ordered. Four of us choose from brunch menu, the avo toast and the other avo/feta toast option, we all agreed sadly the dishes were let down by only having one texture - which is soft, sadly the bread is not great and can't stand up to the moisture from the toppings and ends up a gluggy soggy mess, easy fix, better bread needed, like a truly dense crunchy sourdough ! Nice clean loos - always good!
C.Our family ate at the Stables for a special occasion. We are a blended family; vegetarian, vegan, carnivore. That table! The staff were amazing and the food delicious. We had vegetarian tacos, vegan burger and a delightful eye fillet steak, all fantastic. Maddy N in particular was very intuitive, informed and efficient. The ambience, the space, the staff and the food all stunning. A superb choice for a night out.👏👏👏

Hi, just an add-on to Kims comment, Im her Mum, and we called in for brunch on the way to nowhere. I was a chef for over 50 years, and am impressed with the simplicity, styling and flavours!! I had the bacon eggs bene, with grilled tomato. The bacon was beautiful, the eggs perfection. We three thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The coffee is superb, stick with that blend!!🥰🥰
a.Usual pub grub. Now I think menu has changed and is a bit more upmarket. Have just been back again and had the chicken burger. My rating has gone from 3 to 4 stars.

C.I have been going to this restaurant since I was very young now in my 30's and seen many change in hands. I love the food and the atmosphere. This place is my local and it's great. The lamb pizza is a favourite for me. All of the staff remember me and greet me with a smile and a warm welcome each weekend. I would highly recommend.
m.I have come here a couple of times and it never fails to impress! The Staff are amazing, the two blonde girls are so smiley and positive and really talkative. The food is amazing. Thumbs up to the chef and the two girls! 👍

T.Superb eatery/pub at the Whitford Village roundabout. Welcoming staff, excellent wine, beer and spirit selection plus cocktails if you're so inclined. Food is delicious and they were happy to up the entree I fancied to a main size. I'd recommend you enjoy this spot for a few drinks or food or both. 👍🏾

C.Family and friends have just dined at The Stables for Father’s Day. Firstly, the special three course menu was I’m not only very reasonably priced but we had a choice of 3 entrees, means and desserts. The food was lovely and our waiting staff - Maddy and Martin were exceptional! Will definitely be back!!!! Had a fabulous afternoon!!!
K.Came here on a Tuesday night, place was busy but not too crowded. Staff greeted us on arrival and took our orders quickly after being seated. We ordered the steak and the beef and ale pie which were at our table in no time. Meals were so good that we had to try dessert (crumble and sticky date) which also exceeded expectations. The staff checked on us periodically and were very helpful. The atmosphere was good, background music was at an appropriate level, and even though we’re in Level 1, there was still a lot of hand sanitiser available. For two people getting drinks, mains and dessert the price was very good. Will definitely be back!
T.Service here was outstanding with the staff being polite but not in your face. Food was well above expectations and consistently good. The atmosphere and venue was relaxing, clean and comfortable and there is good parking available.
The menu was totally appropriate and well thought through.
Will be considering the Stables as a venue for our next event.
a.great location in the beautiful whitford countryside, great food - i had the steak and was cooked perfectly how i asked. only downfall is the lack of sides that come with the meal, ordered a separate side of veges so that it was a proper size dinner. great atmosphere. our waitress was friendly and fantastic at her job - dark haired young lady from Germany. :)

U.While the Stables is still reaching for its identity (maybe more a homestead than a stable :) there's no doubting the new owners have laid some great foundations here.
Have had a great steak (yum yum), and came back for brunch today and were not disappointed. Best coffee I've had (two coffees actually!).
Staff could be a little more alert to the needs of the dinners (getting their attention can be a challenge!), and while the decor is by no means stable like we think that's a plus :D

C.Amazing service, and cannot speak highly enough of the food here. Absolutely delicious. The desserts were a knockout as well! Good selection of beverages. Ambient setting with a “modern-meets-rustic” decor.
The prices lean towards the expensive side, but you definitely get what you pay for.

R.Went to the Stables last sunday for the Sunday Roast which was Roast Beef. It was delicious, and I must say it was the best roast I had ever had. $20 For this quality of food, AMAZING. Will Definitely be back every Sunday. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
A.As a local I have in mind the Five Stags that was here before. It was a pub with an okay drinks range and some good if not great food. The Stables has gotten rid of the dark but cosy hunters lodge vibe and gone with something more modern and bright. With it comes a great drinks selection (okay cocktails) and passable to bad food (don't buy the gnocchi). If $10 was knocked off many of the mains prices the food would probably be good value for your money, but $22 goes a lot further in neighbouring Howick or Beachlands and makes you feel like the new venture is just a business. Providing what is required to get by and pricing for the area. Hopefully some passion (and seasoning) is injected into the Stables experience for the future. Google doesn't let me put 2 and ½ stars.

P.Been in before but had someone recommend there sunday lunch, My goodness it was just beautiful, the beef was so tender and perfect cooked vegetables. Great value for 20$ will be back again to try.

R.Haven't been since the makeover, mainly because the last few times didn't impress. Nice and bright inside, service was quick and pleasant. Platter was maybe a bit overpriced for what it was but tasted good. Look forward to coming again.
