Reviews of Tok Tok Hobsonville
B.Asian fusion is their business and the flavors are phenomenal. Only drawback was that the portion sizes were pretty small despite the 'bigger plate' labeling. Some of that could be due to how rough COVID-19 has been on the hospitality industry in addition to inflation. Service was excellent though and I'm glad that it's in the neighborhood.
B.Outstanding and deserves 6*. The food is exceptional, atmosphere is up there, and not overly priced. Service as well, the team there are so friendly, was so well looked after.
Would recommend everything, but sticky pork ribs entree fell off the bone, and that sauce. The crispy half duck was perfect.
H.Overall vibe: Loud, busy yet quite ambient with the lovely interior lighting and vibrant colours.
It is VERY crowded at this destination and the noise is so loud, hearing your own family members is a trouble.
We initially booked and reserved a table for a 5 person family, but even when we arrived, our table was not ready, and had to be cleaned, the cleaning was sloppy and the chairs still had some rubbish and debris.
Also NO FREE WIFI for all social media consumers.
Now onto food.
The first was Sashimi, honestly dissapointing, flavourless and had weird flavour combinations. Way too overpriced for the portion size, you feel the urge to lick the plate's sauce just to fell like you didnt waste ALL of your money.
Pork and Prawn pad thai: Large portion, nice sauce, but dry pork and small and few prawns.
Sweet and Sour Pork Belly: Lovely big juicy pieces of pork belly, the sauce was the sour component and was nice on the crispy slightly fried pork belly. Loved this one.
Wagyu Beef Pad See Ew: Much smaller than we expected it to be, however, the beef was nice and tender, everything on the plate was a joy in the mouth and tasted very delicious, even the broccoli, i was honestly surprised.
Fish Taco: Oh dear, WAYYYY TOO SMALL, we feel we had been ripped off for this one, like the size of an anorexic witch. It was bland, dissapointing and the biggest let down in the night. Pictures online brought big hopes for this dish, but was displeased by the miniature size we were given.
Lychee Rose Fizz (Drink not in photos, also alcoholic): As usual with a drink, it is packed with ice but had very nice taste, although the lychee flavour was very much masked and absent.
Our total was: $192 for 5 people.
Pricey? Yes.
Worth it? Questionable, it was worth a try, but nothing really made me want to crave it more and come back for more.
This IS a good resturaunt for Hobsonville, but I would personally drive the extra 20 minutes to the city or the shore to have better food, and possibly a quieter place. This place though is "new" and maybe the staff aren't trained enough yet, and things are still rough and hard to work with, maybe in the future we may see better quality.
J.Ate here Friday 8 April 2020. Food was excellent. We ordered a fair few dishes and all I rate. The customer service was excellent. I didn’t get her name but she was fantastic. Very clean restaurant, love the chairs.
J.Had the Hapuka Red Curry and the Sweet Potato Pad See Ew with the Tacos for a starter. All the dishes were great, I think the curry being our favourite. The taco shells were very crunchy which isn't common with this type of dish and the Pad See Ew had a wonderful char taste. Our only complaint may be that the Pad See Ew could have had a bit more sauce considering the shape of the noodle not carrying very much like with other stir fries.
K.Finally got a table to eat at Tok Tok on the weekend. It’s got fun bright and welcoming decor, as well as staff. We had a range of food which came out when ready. Everything we ordered was delicious. I especially liked the shaking beef - but recommended sharing it as it’s a lot of meat. Our food was served quickly and it was yummy. The staff were excellent. My only complaint is that is very loud. So loud I could not always hear what someone a meter away diagonally opposite at our 5 person table was saying. The noise after a while started to detract from our experience and to some extent helped us leave earlier.
N.I went here for dinner with 5 others. The service was absolutely amazing, all the servers we super nice and attentive.
The food was okay but the pork belly was super dry, and some were hard to eat. But the fried chicken was quite nice and the wok tossed broccoli was honestly my favorite out of all the dishes we tried, and we got many. If you like spicy food then this is a nice place but personally I didn't like much and neither did anyone else in my party. Don't think I will come back.
A.It was a great atmosphere with great ambiance. Food tasted good, but felt it was a tad on the expensive side with regards to some items and the portion sizes.
Food also took a long time to come out.
There were also different staff taking orders and clearing tables. Getting staff to the table to take our drink orders and additional food orders proved difficult as there was no one ever around, I had to go ask at the bar to get someone sent over. The staff clearing tables however were efficient.
L.Wow! What a beautiful decoration bar restaurant and amazing food. The staff knew exactly when to ask for orders, and clear away and made us feel so special . The fried Ribs, Popcorn Prawn plus a Cocktails go together were absolutely to die for. Would definitely love to go back!
S.We went to Tok Tok for lunch 2 days in a row. Tried 10 dishes and they were all delicious. The pork ribs were surprisingly good consider I don't even like pork. Everything was full of flavours I would definitely go back and try more dishes.

A.Had a great family experience lovely service. Food came out quick. I would prob say best dish ribs. Roti was very crispy I usually prefer it softer buy it was still delicious, big portions. Next time we won't order as much but now we know. They do scan you in as you enter.
n.We took our 8 yr old son and had a lovely meal. I have been several times and enjoy it immensely. Delicious food and a nice atmosphere. Staff are attentive and helpful. Would highly recommend it.

C.Went on a busy night. Well decorated and a nice ambiance…. Staff are pleasant but it was quite random as far as service goes. Ordered pork ribs for the entree but very salty and a very small portion for the price. A long wait to have our orders taken for the mains and my partner received hers at least 10 minutes before I got mine! That’s a definite no-no for any restaurant. Overall it was a very average experience and we eat out a lot. Won’t be in a hurry to return unfortunately…
J.Recently opened in Hobsonville, this home of spice and fusion did not disappoint.
Great atmosphere, professional and friendly staff from the surrounding community, and of course locals from all around the area gives this place a sense of familiarity when you are dining.
Tok tok is best experienced when with someone, to share the flavors bursting from the menu, and off those plates. Great for a family visit, friends session, a couples option or even if you can't resist and take it all in on your own, you will be well taken care of.

R.We have dinner on Thursday. It was busy but the quality of service and food is 10 out of 10. I like the atmosphere here, excellent food and friendly service. Good to have a try.

A.Food was average to good. Great dumplings, roti and tofu. Curries were average. The atmosphere was very noisy and echoey. Couldn't hear ourselves speak, to be honest. To be fair it was a very busy night for them. Kinda ruined the experience for us tho...
S.Food was good but due to the small size of the table we had to keep the wine, utensil holder and water bottle on the floor. It was so noisy we could not hear each other. Will not be back.
C.The place made an ok first impression, the atmosphere was great and the aesthetic was nice and the staff were super friendly. They did not properly check the covid passports though, only looking at them briefly without scanning. We were seated promptly but there are few things that let this place down, besides the passport checking. 1. This is a minor thing but still something that shouldn't happen at a place with these prices; we had to ask for cutlery. All of the tables seem pre set up with a box of cutlery and napkins etc, excluding ours. When we finally received our food the waiter apologised and went to get some but never returned. Luckily another waiter spotted us sitting with food but not eating and quickly brought some over. 2. The wait, we ordered one entree, side and two mains. The side, entree and one main came out 30 minutes after ordering and the second main came out after 50 minutes. The menu does state that the food is meant to be shared and may not come out all at once. This just sounds like an excuse to not have a organised kitchen. A lot of people just want what they order and to not share, so there should be an option to have a shared or individual meal service. 3. not once did a waiter ask if we needed any drinks during our time there (we were asked at the very beginning when seated). We had one, who I presume was the manager, ask us if everything was alright. 4. for a restaurant in the suburbs, the price you pay does not match what you get. $18 for four chicken wings seems a bit pricey. There is a place almost identical to this in the Viaduct with the same pricing but double the quantity and in my opinion quality. The food was by no means terrible, it was rather nice but definitely too expensive. Lastly, if you are a person who can't handle spice or coriander, this is not the place for you. The menu is exciting so I may give this place another chance (or just take a trip to the White and Wongs in the Viaduct with a similar menu) but it certainly won't be a regular visit.
G.Fabric cafe bistro is where to get good coffee and atmosphere, Tok Tok has real food. Amazing food can be found here. All of the dishes I ordered were excellent.

J.Super yummey Asian fusion meals. Wagu beef bao was out the gate. Super tender with crunch and plenty of saucy goodness. Great service by our waitress Malu! So inviting and had great banter but was also onto it. Love that. Will definitely be back.
E.Quality of food is generally good but the curries are disappointing. We have had the hapuka and the massaman curry and both times we requested hot but there appeared to be no spice at all. They are called medium on the menu but they are very mild at best. We asked for chilli on the side but what we got was more like sliced capsicum. Come on Tok Tok. Give your diners the option of a real curry please.
S.Not cheap but delicious. A great menu with a good range with something for everyone. Not kid friendly though. No kids menu and very little choice for under 10's.

L.The food was superb! Asian fusion done right. Generous portions, we found that one small and one large plate each for 8 to share was a tad too much! Atmosphere was bright and lively and drinks were delicious.
It really urks me that places don’t allow people to split bills, especially when there is no one waiting in line for the till. This was my only (very minor) upset, still 5 stars!
