Reviews of Water Drop Vegetarian Cafe
V.
Excellent food. Very delicious and awesome ambience. Now, this is my best place to eat out. All food is vegetarian here. Can feel positive energy as we enter. This was my first visit. I loved it. Great service too. Recommend to try here definitely for vegan food.
J.
Tasty vegetarian meals! I ordered the claypot rice, and although it didn't have the crispy rice bits at the bottom, you usually get from other claypot dishes - it was still very tasty.
My husband had the rendang rice which was equally flavourful.
L.
Never expected vegetarian food could taste so nice! The portion was huge!
I ordered the Lemon Rice, it had crackers, tempura and lemon flavoured crispy soy. I enjoyed every part of it and it was really delicious.

This is such a wonderful restaurant at Fo Guang Shan Temple (where I visited for the first time)! I loved that the menu was entirely vegetarian and vegan, and the bowl of claypot vermicelli that I ordered was super delicious and spicy. Definitely worth the 16 NZD spent on it!👍😃

Went on Christmas day, never intended to eat but we had a coffee and a lemon posset. Delicious!
D.
Probably the best tofu I’ve ever had. Super healthy and tasty food. I tried the tofu noodles and everything on the plate was fresh and delicious. All plates are quite generous so rest assured you’ll leave this place with a full belly. Staff is friendly but the cashier can get quite busy some days since the place is small and there’s usually a lot of people, so in general there’s a 5-min queue to order. Our food took around just 10min to be ready. Totally recommended and will be definitely back
J.
Excellent vegetarian food just by the entrance of the temple, very fast service and a fantastic selection of comfort food with generous portions for a very affordable price. Tons of vegan options. Food looks quite simple but you can taste the difference.

Wanton noodles with soy meat...don't leave without trying this. Laksa was good, not my pick from all what we had (maybe I love the seafood version too much to try something else), the deluxe portion was really massive for someone with average appetite. Sui Mai, again, brilliant. And lotus tea to go with your meal. Staff is very friendly, we were here on a Saturday with the place packed to capacity. Love their interiors plus the outdoor seating is well done too. Didn't get to try their Nasi Lemak, will visit again.

Located inside Fo Guang Shan temple.
Nice little cozy place with only vegetarian dishes. Surprisingly the coffee tastes pretty good. Food is tasty and healthy. As you can see the photos. I’m not big fan of vegetarian food but this place exceeds the expectations for sure.
Nice to visit on the weekends.

Easily one of the best vegetarian places available where so many meat eaters have recommended me to!
Definately worth a try :)
Located within the temple but very close to the entrance so don't feel unwelcome!
T.
Food was good, but the staff seemed like us to leave quickly. As soon as we finished our meal, the staff started cleaning our table while we were sitting. Even though there were some empty tables which were needed to be cleaned for next customers.
T.
Very good food. Friendly staff. Coffee was excellent. Well priced for what you get. Highly recommend. Make sure you check the dress code first as it is also a Buddhist temple.
S.
Delicious, vegetarian food. Always consistent. Every item we have tried was tasty. Recommend the wonton noodle soup, pickled vegetables on rice and teas. Nice to walk the temple grounds after eating.
G.
Peaceful and full of delicious vegan options (its hard to believe vegan food can taste this good). Located inside the temple adjacent to the courtyard and gardens.
A.
A great vegetarian café, with plenty of options. So far I haven't found a dish that I didn't like. Surprisingly, the vegetarian lamb taste almost like a real lamb. Their desserts are also great including their vegetarian creme caramel. Very busy on the weekend, and they close quite early; so plan your trip well. During Buddhist festivals and Chinese new year, be there well in advance as the queue can be extremely long.
Z.
Nice place to be and nice place to eat. Lots of vegan options. Meat eaters can give it a try, because they “faking” meat very well.
N.
Excellent value for money, 100% vegetarian and portions are great! Laksa is a must! but be aware there is dress code (this is a Buddhist temple) so no shorts, jandals or mini skirts as you won't be able to enter
H.
Amazing vegan food. Everything was cooked and seasoned perfectly, the flavours were beautiful, and very good value for price. Highly highly highly reccomend going. Will definitely visit again!
R.
Absolutely beautiful place with a delicious menu. It's quite a busy place, especially in the weekend. All the good is vegetarian and there are some lovely dishes which have vegetables disguised as meat. If the line is long, have a little walk around, embrace the tranquility
R.
The food is always perfect.. taste, quality, presentation is always amazing. It's a Devine food place.
O.
Fantastic Vegan and Vegetarian food. Great atmosphere and you can go have a look at the temple before or after your meal.
R.
divine taste
this is adjacent to the temple and serves excellent veg food.
Not sure but i believe the food sales support the temple operations.
A must visit
D.
Must stop for tea on the way out from the temple.
Really nice food and great service.
H.
Not too bad. They offer a lot of variety of food to try.
K.
Excellent, flavourful vegan food. Many non-vegetarian friends are amazed at how tasty the food really is when served.
The bbq wanton noodles, tom yum fried rice, stir fried noodles, veg curry puffs, crispy g, sota rolls are real highlights.
Weekends are usually busy, but be patient as it is well worth the wait. Do venture into the courtyard beyond to experience the serene, green courtyard of the temple.
B.
This is one of THE BEST places in Auckland to get vegetarian/vegan food 😍
The environment is such a highlight and makes it just such a calming and relaxing place to eat. The staff and volunteers at the temple always are so kind, food comes relatively quickly and in generous portion sizes. They're really good prices too!! (coming from a student).
Note: some dishes contain egg noodles, along with things in the cabinets. You can just ask to swap the noodles :)
W.
Pretty unique dishes, all vegetarian. Hygiene on the tables could do better. It is very busy here but will be nice if they give their tables a wipe before serving.
M.
Great place to enjoy the weekend, food come very fast
S.
Best cafe ever ! Highly recommended for vegetarian and non-vegetarian :)
C.
Summary: I found the atmosphere lovely, staff very friendly, and the food ok on balance. So overall, the food seems pricey for what it is, but I guess I'm supporting the temple and all of its community activities.
Food detail:
Our party tried the rice set, fried red rice, sour & spicy vermicelli, and clay pot rice. The 'chicken' curry option as part of the rice set was very nice, and reminded me of the malaysian style chicken curry with roti canai sort of curry. The deep fried pumpkin and vegetarian char siu that came with the fried rice was good, but I didn't think my rice was fried at all. My dad found the clay pot rice a bit salty. The sour & spicy soup is a tom yum type soup and not the Cantonese sour & spicy type soup just a note. I think the next time I will try the nasi lemak, laksa noodles and lucky noodles as they looked and smelled pretty good.
R.
I'm not a vegetarian and I definitely do not endorse the killing of innocent plants to satisfy ones hunger. However in saying that, eating here has got to be the most pleasant dining experience I've ever had. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is almost serene, and the food is incredibly tasty.
The Lotus tea here is a must try. I also love the dining area with it's rustic wooden tables and rustic wooden chairs. Reminds me of those old Kung Fu movies where the stools is used as a weapon to crack someones skull.
A.
Super tasty vegetarian (predominantly vegan!) food in beautiful surroundings. We always get the laksa with rice noodles and the BBQ wonton noodles with rice noodles - so delicious and really generous servings. There aren’t many veggies on each dish but it’s delicious nonetheless. Staff are always lovely and polite, and it’s fantastic to be able to enjoy the temple grounds and art galleries post-meal. I recommend coming on a weekday or earlier on the weekend to avoid the rush. Sit outside if it’s nice to enjoy the tranquil surroundings!
S.
Delicious vegan, asian food. There are lots of different tasty noodle, rice, tofu & seitan dishes from which to choose.
M.
A little vegetarian cafe situated inside the Fo Guang Shan Temple, it offers a delightful range of tofu or soy-based vegetarian dishes including curry laksa and won ton noodles. The food is excellent and while the service is great, it can get busy at times. Reasonably priced and aptly decorated as the name suggests, you'll enjoy the experience and not to mention, the stroll in the grand temple after the meal.
C.
Absolute fav, we visit as much as we can. Every new dish we try has been amazing every time thus far 😋 10+ visits and counting
E.
All vegetarian ingredients with nice taste n flavor
P.
One of my favourite places. Always great food
E.
Relaxing atmosphere, good tea, and lovely vegetarian meals that I've found even the meat eaters in my life really enjoy. The dishes here are primarily traditional meat dishes but made with textured meat substitutes instead.
J.
Hainan G rice, Tuesday only.
Looks nice, taste fine.
T.
Very educational visit. I would definitely come back here in the summer and with less running children to take a bit more time to learn. We visited the cafe...wonderful vegetarian food. Not for the paleo person & not think there were any gluten free options but hey the food was excellent, smelt great, tasted great

Nicely located inside Fo Guang Shan Temple.
Good vegetarian choices which are mostly made as fusion of food ingredients from different Asian countries.
Well maintained.
Outdoor seating is available.
Gets busy around noon over weekends and holidays. Arriving before 11.30 AM is suggested.
S.
Come in here for lunch in regular basis, love to order their lunch set. Perfect portion for me, the only down side is sold-out sometimes if I show up a bit late.
M.
We continue to frequent this lovely little cafe after many year years, lovely staff, beautiful atmosphere and really yummy vegetarian/vegan food. Lots of parking available and very reasonable prices.A must visit.

Good value for food especially if you order a daily special
