C.If you are reading this review save your self the grueling torture of 24 hours in the air and God knows how many hours in transit lounges to experience genuine Italian pizza. Just hop on down to Minghetties , you won't be disappointed. These pizzas are the genuine article, the best ingredients cooked to perfection by people who have passion for what they do.
C.I've been hesitant to review Minghettis because they're amazing and the chances of me securing a pizza decrease with every positive review and their waxing popularity. Then again, there's no sense in selfishly hoarding the few good things in this New Zealand life and so, I'll somewhat reluctantly share this well kept secret: this is the best pizza in New Zealand.
There's no comparison. I've thought quite a bit as to why this may be and my conclusion is, the owner's passion for crust is what sets them apart. Perhaps his Italian heritage plays into it but his love for every pie shines through every bite.
Minghetti's offers authenticate wood fired pizza using high quality ingredients. The thin sourdough base is light and soft with just enough chewy resistance to balance the texture. The sauce is a welcome compliment, not too much, not sweet, not too acidic.
They offer a fair amount of variety as well as plant based pizzas. This innovation is inspiring - although sadly vegan pesto isn't on offer.
The biggest disappointment about Minghettis is it's only open Monday through Friday between 4-8 PM. His pizza is rightfully on a pedestal and I'm grateful he opened at all (even though I miss them with all my heart on Saturday nights).
So there you have it folks, finally a place where a slice is as magnificent as you can dream.

M.Absolutely stoked I found this food truck on my short trip to Blenheim. Authentic Italian woodfired pizzas, with clearly fresh and good quality ingredients on a delicious pizza base. Lovely family too! Definitely one to check out.
m.A mandatory stop for Blenheim. Actually, like ACTUALLY the best pizza and bread you'll ever get in NZ and I'm not saying that lightly. I doubt you can get better pizza and/or bread anywhere else. The owner is super friendly as well. A michelin star rating for this place.
D.Two charming Italians serving arguably the best pizza on the South Island and it would compare with the best in NZ. For those of you that haven't tried real bread before, get in there and try their fresh loaves.

R.Amazing authentic Italian pizza place. The pizza they make is wood baked and the pizza base bread is very unique and tastes so good. Very warm and friendly staff. I reckon this is the best pizza place in Blenheim.
