Comfortable, plenty of different seating spaces to suit your style. Friendly staff. Nice sunny deck to sit and while away some time. Meal was... one of my children had the fish and chips with green salad off the lunch menu and was pleased. (Fish was Gurnard done in Tempura batter). Cost $30. My other child had the Dozen mussels and wasn't so pleased as found two crabs inside two of the mussels and one mussel had not opened. He felt better quality control should have been before plating. Cost $22. Plenty of places to park, but it may be pay and display during the week. The Slip Inn is off the main road as it is down by the boat ramp. Please give me a thumbs up 👍🏻below if my review is informative. Thanks.

April2021: a welcome stop after the rain and the driver saying... Let's go for a drive..... Coffee&Cake is my thing. Neither disappointed. Not as strong as I like, but, Creamy & hot coffee. The apple slice 😍. Fire was going, the doors were open on to the decking. So nice. Really cheerful. The music was on point, not too loud. Thanks

Had brunch here with friends before getting the Interislander ferry at lunchtime. The food was excellent and being able to sit outside in the glorious sunshine made it just perfect.

I live in canada and had mussels here 2.5 years ago (never had a chance to leave a review). Since then, I've eaten at many top restaurants but have yet to have a meal as memorable as the one i had at the Slip Inn. If you ever find yourself in Havelock, give the place a visit and try the mussels! They are incredible!

One of my favourites restaurants in the area. If you love water and nice views by the harbour. This is definitely a nice place to go. The staff is nice, one of the waitresses was a bit slow/forgetful but she was very young. However her senior co-worker was excellent!. We enjoyed a delicious dinner, with great views.

Had breakfast here when me and my partner were on holiday last week and oh my gosh!!!! Amazing! I just ordered the avo on toast and he ordered the french toast, i was thinking it would be good, but when it came out it was honestly the best food i have ever had in my life. Even my partner said it was the best food he has ever had in his life. It was super busy in there that day and the waitresses were super busy, but super attentive and smiling. Compliments to the chef and the amazing staff on deck❤ thank you so much, will definitely reccomend and definitely will be back again. Coming from a hospitality background myself, i cant thank you all enough for how hard everyone must have worked to give such a great service ❤

Food and ambience great. Good service for a busy day. In a party of 6 and ordered fish and chips and mussels and I ordered the calamari. My calamari and salad leaves were swimming in oil so wasn't so good. Very disappointed but everyone elses food was good. Just way too much oil in mine.

It has been 2 years since we were there. (We live in Florida, USA). The Slip Inn is one of those 'food memories' we still talk about. The service and the food were impeccable! Delicious lunch today at the Slip Inn. Great menu with heaps of choice and lovely waiting staff. Meals came quickly too. My steamed mussels in Thai coconut sauce were fresh and beautiful. I'll be back to try some of the other beautiful options.

The Slip Inn is a perfect spot for dinner! The staff are exceptionally friendly and attentive. The drink selection is wide and there are a great range of craft beers and wines available. The food was tasty and well presented - in particular the fish and chips were fantastic. Very highly recommended!

We ate here a few years ago. Great mussels and a wonderful wine list. I recommend them to all my friends who ever travel to the Northern end of the South Island.

The food was lovely and beautifully presented. However the service was very slow and inattentive. We never got asked for a drinks order. We waited over 45 minutes after ordering before we called a staff member over to enquire how much longer our starters would be. The mains were ready to be plated up when we finally got our flat bread and bowl of chips. The mains came a few minutes later and my beef fillet was slightly over done due to sitting under the heat lamp . No one came to check if our meals were okay or to ask if we wanted anything else. We went home for dessert.

We stopped in here on a hot day en route to the Picton ferry for a few cold drinks, and enjoyed the beautiful view across the marina. The ice chocolates were fantastic, and the staff were lovely. I very stupidly left my bag at the restaurant, and Nicola, the General Manager, went above and beyond to post my bag back to me - which was incredibly kind of her. So a massive thank you to the Slip Inn - great cold drinks and exceptionally nice people!

Came in for lunch and had a lovely relaxed one. There were four of us, two of us had cod the other two mussels. The cod was delicious but with the mussels we found some hadn't opened and with those that had some weren't cooked properly. Otherwise a lovely place to have a meal overlooking the slip, harbour and surrounding hill's.

Lovely place with a fabulous location in the Havelock Marina with great views. Nice outside and inside seating, great coffee and delicious food with vegetarian options. A little pricey but worth it for the location and chilled ambience. Nice to come here all year round.

Green shelled mussels are almost as good as PEI mussels! And you can get them here... We really enjoyed our meal. One of the best seafood meals we've had since coming to NZ from Canada. A great find, actually recommended by a fellow traveller on the ferry to the south island!

Popped in for lunch, great views , staff need to be re trained , not one smile between them and after ordering food came within 12 minutes but i had to ask where my drinks were ( these should come first) , was then ssked if i wanted cutlery ? Really ? Price was right for establishment and town, will try dinner next see what staff are like.

I often visit here as it's a great location, off the beaten track but well worth stopping to experience. Sitting right on the marina overlooking all the boats coming and going, it's bright, modern and has a great food selection. It's more of a restaurant than a cafe, bu they offer coffee and a muffin etc. Great venue for a smaller function but also quiet for a romantic dinner.

Nice location but expensive. We had an (expensive) drink and enjoyed watching the marina slipway antics but decided that the menu did not justify the prices being asked. Havelock restaurants need to get a lot better before they can truly justify the prices they are currently trying to charge.

I used to watch in awe after coming back from fishing trips whilst pulling our boat out of the water, looking at the diners eat in the Slip Inn cafe. Today I had the pleasure of enjoying the delightful service and a fantastic coffee. This an awesome cafe, I highly reccomend this as a venue for a quick coffee or lunch!! 5 stars

AWESOME STAFF! definatly best staff in the top of the south. Really good pizzas and sprig n fern beer on tap which is always a win not to mention the great views of the marina well worth a stop in your way through, almost forgot there's always great music just in the back round .

Sadly not what it used to be. We had our yacht in the marina here for years and have frequented this restaurant over a long period. The menu selection has gone so far downhill from 4+ years ago. There is hardly anything on the menu now, food was ok although nothing really special. I don't think I would bother again unless it changes.

If we were just describing the regular food here, it would get only three stars because while it's good, it's a bit skimpy on portions. But if you like pizza, this is the place in town to go. It's wonderful.

Friendly staff but I was surprised that I had to wait 1/2 hour for my lunch meal as it didn't look very busy. I ordered the mussel pie ( I wanted to be adventurous) and had no idea what to expect. Surprisingly the filling was a soup consistency sitting in a pastry bowl! I ate it but wouldn't order it again ... Kinda weird ... The vegies served with the pie had been char gilled and they were yummy ... Surprisingly yummy !And saved the meal!

I would say up "marketish" cafe if there is such a word. Clean with modern decor. We only had coffee so can't comment on the food. Coffee was good. Very handy to everywhere in Havelock.

Got to be Havelock's best. Got the essentials right: friendly staff who aren't there for 2 months on a working holiday visa, the fish and chips is just as it should be, the coffee is great, chocolate brownie as good as anywhere, and prices only a tiny bit elevated, which you can probably forgive given the outstanding location (and the fact that it's NZ, not somewhere cheap like Paris or New York or whatever... *sigh*).

We really enjoyed our meals last week and travelled from Picton to havelock to have our lunch under recommendation to visit the slip Inn. Best muscle chowder we have had, only thing we would say is that it would have been nice to have had some better quality bread with it, as apposed to standard white bread.

FAB-U-LOUS We just took a chance. Greeted warmly, seated promptly. We were there about 2pm. Gorgeous view. We ordered the mussels and the chowder. Generous portions served with really good bread. (We don't eat much bread, so when we splurge, it needs to be worth it.) The mussels were large, tender and fresh, delicious broth. The chowder had generous chunks of chopped mussels, potatoes, celery, carrots and a few fresh mussels in the shell right on top. This chowder is one of those dishes that creates a memory and desire to have it again.
