Lovely food, great service. I just wonder why the salad was topped with salmon when we had fish as the main course. Also I think there were too many different elements on my plate, it almost looked like someone emptied the fridge. I realize this is currently the fashion and every restaurant does it.

Good restaurant overall. Bit pricey at 60pp. But that's the only thing. Everything we had was top notch food, good portions. Steak, pork belly, brisket. Brule was a bit overcooked but still delicious. Good atmosphere, even though they only had 3 staff to cover the floor, was excellent service. Will be back next time we're back in town.

Amazing place! Great service, awesome food (totally get the pizza bread with feta!) Clean, wheelchair accessible, efficient and kind. Family friendly... recommend booking as usually very busy. Parking out front if you're lucky but there's plenty of local parking. Plenty of GF options to choose from too! A++

Good location. fair prices. Pity they don't have a cabinet for sweets cakes like they used to. Some diners may prefer that at lunchtime instead of a large dessert. Menu needs something new, been the same a long time. Service good. 😊 All food we've eaten here well cooked.😊 However too many pig based dishes for non pork eaters. Bacon on a lot of dishes. Be nice to have the dish with an alternative. Fish and chicken are good . Husband has enjoyed his steak. Limited parking . best to book can be busy.!

It was the only restaurant that had a space for reservation in Cambridge on a Sat night. When we turned up, we were pleased to find the placed was busy and buzzing with great vibes! We did wait for about 30-40 mins for our mains, as we hadn't ordered appetizers. However, the wait was worth it as the fish tasted fresh and my partner's steak was well-seasoned! The apple pie was also tasty, but I was disappointed with the soft crust. Overall, coupled with their attentive services, it's an all-round enjoyable dining experience.

We enjoyed our delicious meals, warm hospitality &. prompt service on a busy New Years Eve. Hubby & I shared the yummy chicken liver pate with tamarillo compote for an entree. The mains of Wagu beef, mash, beans & jus was very tender & the Chicken, prawns Thai green curry & rice was very tasty. Four of us had dinner at Onyx Cambridge on Friday night. Using our covid passport was simple. We had the most amazing meals and the service was perfect. My lamb rack was divine and although my favourite cocktail was not on the drink menu the staff made it for me anyway. One of the nicest Pimms I've ever had. We will definitely be back.

Arguably the nicest restaurant in Cambridge, the Onyx has something for everyone. A line-up of fine wines, along with champagne, beers and even ciders. An intriguing offering of appetizers along with a variety of main courses that are presented beautifully. For some, their pizzas are different, but delicious. Service was super. Our waiter was "Cheta", he has been on staff here NINE years. That speaks volumes about the professionalism of this restaurant. Many dishes, including the pizza have Indian influences. Be sure to ask about the "Chef's Challenge" aka daily specials! We were not able to have desert, but they sounded fabulous!

Following the Karapiro Flyer (cycling event) we had dinner here. We hadn’t made a reservation so they put us at the tables at the back of the restaurant. This area is definitely not as nice as the front section, with harsher lighting and less comfortable seating but as we didn’t book and were starving we were just glad to get food. To start we had the crumbed calamari which was soft and not chewy, a good start! The mains were a steak with prawns and a scallop and chorizo salad. The size of the salad was ridiculously huge. I think it would feed two people. I would say the dishes were expensive for what you get. Perhaps less quantity but more flavours/freshness would be better.

Excellent atmosphere. Great food and a highly recommended stop for lunch. Very family friendly - our children were well looked after - as were we. All food was tender and well cooked. Highly recommended from our visit was the Pork Belly, Woodfired Pizza and finished off with a well made coffee and rich chocolate brownie :). Thank you - and will be seeing you again.

We ordered something from all corners of the menu, and everything was amazing. "Butter-knife steaks", generously topped pizza, fairly priced kids meals. Cleverly balanced deserts (fantastic presentation) where sweet is offset just enough. (Only critique: because cold deserts are pre-made the flake topper was a bit soggy) Great service!!! Hadn't been here in over 10 years but we got a voucher as a wedding present and we weren't disappointed! Food was delicious and despite being busy the service was excellent and food came out fast. My only criticism would be that there were not many wine choices on the menu, and unfortunately what I picked wasn't very nice. But would love to see more next time 😉

This place is really good! Excellent range of food and at volumes disproportional to their cost (that's if you live in Auckland). I struggled to finish their scrambled eggs and avocado on toast, which was creamy and tasty. For a prospective, I would eat a 5 egg scrambled egg meal after a bike ride and that's comfortable. This one I ate after a 3 hour bike race, well tried to eat.... must have been at least 7 eggs worth.. if I'm back in Cambridge I'm going back!

Excellent service and great food. The menu has a good selection and the different dishes all came out together and hot. Beautifully presented. Scallops and mackerel salad included 10 perfectly cooked scallops. All portions were a good size. Not cheap, but good quality and worth paying for.

Great spot that we used for a large brunch with a whole heap of the extended family. They managed the large and complex order nearly without a single error (a missing coffee I think was all) which was immediately rectified. Pretty good prices and definitely good food. Also had clean facilities and a good baby changing station; this could be improved upon a bit by adding a soft mat rather than just the hard plastic for the baby to lay on.

Waiter Gaurav was very attentive and went out of his way to make sure we had a very enjoyable night. Apologies to him for my sister in law giving him a hard time and flirting with him!! Got our meal as a takeaway. Food was beautiful. Got there 5 minutes early to pick up my food and got told that chef works to time and basically not be early. I was not from Cambridge so allowed 10mins to drive there. I was a bit put out.

I had arranged for a corporate lunch running on a tight schedule the staff at Onyx had it all setup for the guest. The service was fast even though they were catering to so many different orders. Food was great. Friendly staff checked if everything was going fine. Located in the heart of the Town centre, parking may be a bit of a mission. Overall great place to hang with friends, family and corporate get together.

My family and I came out to Cambridge for a quick brunch. We came across the Onyx restreraunt. They had great service with smiling faces. The food came out reasonably quick. Their food was really delicious and their sizes were very well proportioned (not too big, not too small). Always a treat to eat at Onyx. A warm and friendly greeting, nice surroundings, and a fresh and tasty menu. Love the real fire on a cold and wet May evening. This evening I had Scallop & Chorizo salad. The dozen scallops grilled on skewers were tender and succulent, over a bed of chorizo slices, green leaves, goats cheese and fresh soy beans. All finished with a fresh, crisp and malty pale ale.

Ate at Onyx tonight with a large group (20) for a family birthday, we had the upstairs function room. Overall it was a decent experience, but it was marred by a waiter with a poor attitude and attention to detail. He messed up two of the orders (wrong dish, wrong meat cooking preference) and was brusque and uninterested when the errors were pointed out, no apology was offered at all. The food itself (other than the over cooked steak resulting from the waiters error) was all delicious and well-cooked. The restaurant was chokingly hot and apparently unable to be cooled down via the aircon system. They eventually opened the small windows at the back of the function room, which lowered the temperature to a bearable but still overly warm level. We've eaten here before and will definitely return, but there is certainly a lot of room for improvement in their customer service.

Visiting from Australia. We stopped in Onyx coming home from a busy day in Rotorua. We didnt have a reservation and were seated immediately. Atmosphere was great. Catered for my 12mo as well. The rest of my party had nothing but praise for the food that they had ordered. I had ordered the Italian pizza with a side of chilli flakes and hot sauce. Portion sizes were generous as well. My family (numbers ranging anywhere from 18 - 30 people) have been celebrating birthdays upstairs at the Onyx for the last six years. Incidentally none of us live in Cambridge we come from Auckland, Tauranga, Te Awamutu and further south because we love the Onyx. On Sunday we celebrated my Father's 90th birthday, a very special time for us made extra memorable by the wonderful Onyx team who were so accommodating, very efficient and super friendly as always. The upstairs area is the perfect place to hold a function and along with tables also includes, bar, sitting area and restrooms. The food is always delicious and well priced. We love you Onyx, we'll be back!!!
