P.Out whole group really enjoyed the meals! No one complained. It was super busy with many different functions and private groups and we still got served in a great time. Highly recommend. 🤤kids area was pretty good but don’t like that there only money operated games.
S.Dined at the Stables last night and thought the place had a lovely vibe. However the two mains we ordered were disappointing. The lamb rack didn't have a rack so not representative of the menu or our expectations. The pork ribs, while
very tasty were not bbq-ed. Neither looked anything like the photos on this site

C.Excellent food and customer service. We saw their vouchers on GrabOne and thought we'd purchase them and drop by on our way to Matamata. We ordered their ribs and linguine, the linguine is to die for! Really clean and aesthetic place -- even the toilet is instagrammable! haha. Will definitely come back here again.

S.I have just enjoyed a pan fried fish and my friend a steak.
We could not fault our dishes and if we were in town again tomorrow night we would both go back and have our meals again .most delicious we have had in a long time .

S.Awesome pizza and chips. Great service too and incredibly quick! One suggestion - when I asked staff about the bottles of wine stacked up in the rubbish bin (which I observed behind the bar) I was informed that no recycling takes place. This was disappointing - we all should be doing our bit when it comes to waste minimisation. This includes businesses, families and individuals alike. I’d encourage Stables on Alpha to adopt recycling practices. I’ll definitely be back, but would encourage to adopt more environmentally acceptable practices when it comes to waste management. If it wasn’t for this I would have otherwise awarded Stables on Alpha a 5 rating!
D.I think the party I was with ordered every starter on the menu tonight and they all got rave reviews. The fish and chips were amazing along with the Market Fish. We even brought home some sticky date pudding and cheesecake!
H.Awesome food in a relaxed atmosphere! A popular local joint with a touch of class for a bar and grill. I had the rack of lamb for dinner when I was passing through Cambridge, delicious! Will definitely be going back to have that again next time too!

E.Quite loud at peak times, someone at my table made a slightly negative comment about one of the dishes and the staff handled it well. But the main dishes were awesome, generous portions and honestly the pork belly salad is the best salad I've ever had.
M.Took forever to make an order and get it (an hour or more even though it wasn't crowded). Then after my first beer the glass was taken away without asking so no glass for my second! Pizza was good.

It would have been great if the walls were clean, the chandelier attended to and the ceiling fixed, rather than a torn piece of paper stuck over whatever they wanted to hide.
S.Pretty hip pub with a modern welcoming feel, I've not been here for awhile, mainly due to relocating, but they've definitely stepped up the ambience loving the new look inside and out, fabulous menu with pork belly meal my utmost favorite, just can't fault it, or the creme brulee, was pleasantly surprised by it being coffee flavoured, only let down was arancini balls flavour came mainly from the sauce, and having to get staff attention a few times
B.The food here is actually pretty decent with good portion sizes. However the last time we visited, there was a party in the function area and kids were coming and going through the door and leaving them open. The cold air was blowing through requiring us to constantly get up and shut the door. The staff member manning the bar was watching us the entire time (2 metres from the door) but didn’t think to step in and manage it.

G.We had a group of 4 pop in on our way to Taupo on Saturday night. We didn't have a booking but they managed to find us a table within 5 minutes. We sat down and ordered 4 different meals to share which arrived within 15 minutes. This was a busy night and the service and food was amazing. The outside area is also really cool with a waterfall feature and comfy lounges to sit on. Would highly recommend.
V.Staff were great. Beautifully set up place but I had hands down the worst chicken burger I've ever eaten. So over cooked that it was hard, rubbery and chewy, yet full of chunks of fat. In saying that, everyone else's food at our table was good.

G.Really lovely service and tidy clean place. Good drink selection. I ordered the chicken and mushroom fetuchini. I felt they were a little tight on the chicken and the meal was little overdone. In saying that it came quickly. Why do places still persist in offereing Free Wifi when you have to get a voucher that then has a hard password to key in? Its fibre and its unlimited so really there's no need to have this now.

K.With new owners (2017) and renovations to drag it away from its working class pub origins, Stables is an improved on its former self with plenty of scope for more. The kids had a good time and that's important. Our meals were acceptable but not memorable. It will be interesting to see how it evolves with more competition in a thriving little town.

K.A pleasant surprise for an evening out with new decor and menu, Stables on Alpha delivers a light and enjoyable atmosphere, good selection of food with attentive wait staff. We walked off the street and were lucky to get a table on a Saturday night. Really enjoyed the lamb rack and chicken breast for mains. Cambridge has a busy food scene so try Stables on Alpha for a great example of good food in a upbeat place.
M.Food was delicious but service just ok. Waitresses pleasant but they were busy so table got forgotton about. Didnt come back for drinks orders so had to go up to the bar. This is the 2nd time this has happened, just a matter of too busy not enough staff maybe?

C.Nice to see the bar and the restaurant with its cosy fire place separated but cleverly reunited in the outside court with a very appealing ambiente. Delicious food reasonably priced makes it tempting to come more regularly. Only one star missing as the outside could have been tidier.

S.We arrived late one Sunday night to watch a game of footy and even though they had been closing they very nicely stayed open for us! Never complained and were happy to keep us in drinks through the game. Very greatful and happy to recommend them on

D.Food was excellent, price of drinks are reasonable and also nice atmosphere but the attitude of waitress Jenelle will not let me return to the Stables. First she intervened and told us the table was reserved, that another waitress took us to. 1.5 hours later the 2 tables were still 'open'. When she brought our food to the bar area, we asked her for salt and off she scurried before we could continue and when my husband asked her if she was in a hurry she said YES!
