J.Nice and cosy restaurant with great Ambience, really good selection of wines, with some nice Black Estate and Bone line choices!
Service was really friendly and could not fault this. Food presentation was great with all the dishes coming out looking really yummy.
Unfortunately, the taste just wasn't quite there, it was a bit underwhelming which is a shame as everything else about the place is great. We got one of the specials, you could not really taste any of the dressings and we didn't think it was worth what we paid for. The other dishes again nice just a tad small, will say the cauliflower was amazing!!! Just the other dishes didn't quite hit the mark.

Fast efficient service that wasn't over the top.
Smart casual shared plates (which satisfied even the fussy eater at our table) which came out super quickly and tasted just as great we had hoped! Ceviche. short rib and fried chicken were our favourites. We can't wait to come back again soon!
T.We've been here a couple of times now, as a couple and with friends. The service is generally good and the food is a little inconsistent. We had the same dishes on our second visit and the portion sizes, dish execution and plating were different the second time, and not in a good way. I only mention that as most kitchens run through their menu for content and plating so the dish is consistent, especially for size and flavours. We'd likely go back with others but with lower expectations after the last visit.

G.Great dinner! Good service and very speedy food service, they were a 2 team in the kitchen and had atleast 6 tables of guests and we had our food delivered in great time. We ordered- dumplings, wonton fries, prawn taco, cauliflower, calamari, mussels, bread, prawn rice paper roll (half is missing in pic), tofu bao. We did a first table which was obviously fantastic. Some items did lack flavour and the dumplings did get very stogy from sitting in the sauce.
A.Dinner out with lovely friends and we just felt we were treated to such incredibly tasty dishes!! This is one of the best places to dine in Christchurch. The guava margaritas were divine. Will be telling everyone about this place...and will definitely be back!
J.This was a singularly excellent experience with exquisite service, beautiful fresh and exciting menu. The attitude of the staff was engaged attentive courteous and professional and fun. Their passion and all the restaurant made me feel like I was in New York or Paris. The food was amazing.
C.I tried the hotcakes, they were certainly unusual, perhaps a combination of dessert and main in one? I enjoyed it all the same. It wasn't busy which made it easy to speak to my associates. Not an extensive menu, but a nice option if you're in town.

L.Really enjoyed the food here. Tried the roasted stuffed egg plant entree and pork kebab, both great, and the mains were a good size although a bit more on the pricey side. We had the duck and the pork belly.
T.Great food, lovely atmosphere & a good wine list. A few of the waiting staff were a little inexperienced e.g. popping a plate of steak tartare in front of us without the usual instructions of how best to eat it but the service was very friendly. We tried their experimental Brie in pastry with kimchi. Wasn’t a massive hit but loved they were doing something different. We’ll be back!

As visitors to Christchurch we tried this place because the menu had several interesting dishes. A great experience with top quality ingredients prepared by a chef who clearly knew what he was doing.
Get a table looking into the kitchen, you will see each dish prepared by hand and as food goes past it helps to choose what's to your taste.
Good value for the quality of the food.

K.Tasty and quick are the two words I would use to describe this place. The food is some of the nicest I’ve tasted for a while, I would highly recommend the duck croquettes, fried chicken, crispy pork belly and the edamame as the tastiest food there. The cocktails are also really good, I would recommend the good morning Vietnam of you’re a fan of coffee cocktails. Would highly recommend anyone to come here

L.The food is quite nice. But we felt like we were judged on the fact that we did not dress up after a long day of hard work. Which is not a good thing to do considering we spend a lot of money on hospitality supporting businesses that have been hard hit by Covid. Maybe do not judge a book by it's cover, we would have liked to try more of the menu, but will take our business elsewhere.
S.We went here for dinner on First Table and we had a great time! We thought the prices were a little expensive when we looked at the menu before going but gave it a go as we got a discount with First Table. We ordered 3 starters and 3 bigger plates. The food was incredible - so much flavour and we loved the meals we ordered (except maybe the calamari as found it was quite oily). We were too full for dessert but will definitely try some of their yummy sounding desserts when we return next time. Also, the service was great! The waitress (can’t remember her name) was very friendly, knowledgeable and ensured that we were happy and comfortable throughout the duration of our dining experience.
G.Very good food choice and smart décor. The dishes we had were great other than the lamb that was impossible to cut let alone eat. We were told, with a veiled apology, that this was due to the type of cut of the day and it would not be a melt in the mouth. At $38 any cut of lamb should, at a minimum, be edible.
L.A beautiful restaurant, loved the Goldie paintings. Could not fault the food, we had a small plate, two medium plates and a large plate and we were full. The bao were super delicious.Very friendly waiter. highly recomended.

We tried the drinks meal also and was very pleasantly surprised with each. We went to Sawyer next door for a for a few drinks after and was a great atmosphere will most definitely be back. J.Booked table for 5 over the phone. Given a bar table without warning. Starters were delicious. Mixed reception on the mains. Crayfish overdone, duck underdone. Pork was really nice. The petit four dessert was disappointing - 4 tiny pieces of fudge on a round plate for $18. Could have bought from a dairy for a fraction of the cost.
K.The service was good although it felt like we were being watched the entire time due to the wait staff hovering over us constantly watching our water glasses and re-filling them, it would have been nice for them to just leave a jug on the table. The high seating is very uncomfortable and the fake hanging flowers in my face were annoying. Apart from those minor things the food was to die for! The flavours seem weird on the menu but they work together amazingly and it was cool to be able to watch the chef working in the open kitchen, would dine here again
z.Barberra is a fairly newly opened restaurant, it has interesting decor keeping the lighting low, generally using darker colours, and using large blinds to restrict natural light. The chairs were surprising pleasant and much more comfortable than most restaurants. They have a good drinks selection offering a few traditional brews and a selection of less common drinks which is nice. They also have a good selection of cocktails and a large wine selection.
We tried two starters, the bread was reasonably bland, but when the butter was added it changed the flavor considerably and was a very pleasant combo. The chicken was also very nice mixed with a sweet sauce which was odd but very nice. For the mains we both tried a different meat. Both really enjoyed the flavor combinations.
We figured we'd give desert a taste too. I tried the chocolate sphere which was fun to watch, but was a pretty average desert on flavor. The chocolate sides were quite thick, and the bread crumb base was bland. Also tried the matcha cake, which was better but not stunning. Overall very nice, just a little disappointed by desert.
E.My venison was cold and very well done. Waitress had said that all meat was cooked medium to rare unless you specified. Starters were very tasty and good portions for sharing. Desserts were incredible!
J.We went there by using first table discount. It was an OK night, the food was OK, didn't find the waitress of the night was extremely helpful or enthusiastic about her job. I had the pomegranate chicken thigh I find the chicken too sour. My friend had the duck, it looks yummy. The beef ribeye was cooked well-done but my friend wished the beef was cooked to medium rare ( the waitress didn't ask us when ordering). We had the bomb Alaska as dessert and it was yummy

The waitress was extremely helpful and accommodating for ensuring the dishes I ordered were gluten free - much appreciated as this makes the experience so much more relaxing. A.WOW! We arrived to Barberra about 5:30 without a Reservation and were graciously escorted to a lovely table for two. Andy and I are not "foodies" but this was a wonderful experience and we so enjoyed the great service and delicious food. We were most impressed with the combinations of flavors and presentation. We are only in Christchurch for a week and we hope to return before we head to North Island. Thank you Taylor for great service and a great experience at Barberras. Colleen and Andy Frank
L.This place is ok, they had a yummy gin cocktail on tap which was good. The restaurant seemed understaffed though so we didn't get very good service, the food took awhile to come as well even though it wasn't very busy. There was also a lot of un-lit candles on the tables, which seems silly to be bothered about but there is nothing sadder than an un-lit candle in my opinion. We didn't end up staying for dessert (even though they all looked yummy!) because it took too long to take our dessert order, and by that stage they were obviously packing up so we left without dessert. I had the chicken thigh which was pretty good itself, but the pineapple and corn that it came with wasn't very good at all. The side of greens was good though, and their homemade bread was yummy.

V.Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff, good quality food. However, the pull pork croquettes was very underwhelming and the dessert special was a big let down. Portion size on the smaller side. Taste wise just not worth the price.
