A.Too burnt for me. Don’t get me wrong, I do like crispy pizza and even a bit of black on the edges for the smoked flavour, but this is unintentionally burnt I think. I ordered from Uber eats so I suggest if you don’t want it burnt to this extent, leave a note. Otherwise the rest wasn’t bad.
c.Great pizza. Good vegan option. Very delicious paprika and vegan pepperoni flavour. Good base not soggy and nice crisp. Small on was a good size meal while leaving space for some desert.
N.Quite disappointed by our first bye tonight. The meat on the sir George has been dumped on the pizza in lumps and not spread. Also not cut properly and no presentation, like it was slapped in a box with meat chucked on it from across the kitchen. Very disappointed tonight...
i review my one star to four. The manager rang me promptly to sort the issue and gave a credit. Thank u we ordered the refund pizza today and it was far better. Delicious and the meat was far better placed. Thanks for ur quick response to fixing our complaint
E.First time we ordered from here and it was okay. The BBQ chicken had more feta cheese then chicken and the cheese on our fries were the consistency of what you get when melting plastic (it definitely had been sitting out for a while).
L.I always get sir george, flavours and taste combo is probably the best on the menu. I've tried the pasta, lasagna is actually good. Tried ordering online, couldn't get through it even after trying many times. I think you guys better check your online order system or software again, something's not right.
H.Went here a few days ago and got the large margherita pizza to share. The size and taste was there however the base was slightly burnt. Relative to other woodfire pizzas, this was on par however there was no wow factor.
S.The pizzas were nice but lacked balance with flavours except for the 4 cheese pizza. The sweet chutney balance out the blue cheese and pulled all the flavours together quite nicely! By far the best pizza out of the lot.

K.Probably the best pizza I've ever tasted before. 10/10 would eat entire pizza alone and not feel shame. The fresh ingredients, the flavor combinations, the artistry.. remembering taking a bite, savoring each time my teeth crushed down and released flavors into my mouth, and the warm finishing swallow into my belly. Definitely the kind of pizza I would take home at the end of the night.
S.I think I have found my new favourite meal in Christchurch - brisket loaded fries from Base Pizza and at only $15 they're a bargain - huge huge huge portion! My partner and I shared a pizza with the loaded fries and were both terribly full afterwards. Little High is an amazing place to get food and it's no surprise it's always busy!

A.Can't say enough good things about BASE woodfire pizza. Where to start.. the flavours that woodfired pizza offers compared to oven pizza is delicious. The combination of toppings are so good, vegetarian friendly. Has a flavour for everyone. The milkshakes are worth it, try one!! Trust me.

P.The pizzas are small, even the large one is not big enough for sharing really. Pricey for what you get. Super saucy. I guess it's a good pizza for the NZ standard, but if you've been to Europe this would be considered average or below.

W.Tried the pizza twice and most people would love it. For that reason alone I would say a must try. If I was really picky, the dough recipe is under seasoned and not consistently fully cooked through both times it have visited. But they don’t seem to use a door on the oven so that could explain why. This is easily fixed and I’m sure they will realise eventually. Their choice of toppings and variety of food on offer is excellent and the place has a good vibe. They do not deliver either, again I am sure they will eventually realise they are not meeting the demand in the market place on that score. That is the beauty of a competition in the market, rewards the best run businesses and clears out the bad. I hope they do well into the future. Well done and as I said you must go and try their pizza. I have eaten some of the best wood fired pizzas in the world and it is not easy to perfect. That’s why I rate this place highly.

Served hot and fresh, can't go wrong with pizza on a cold day. The ambience of the whole place is great too.
s.Lamb pizza super delicious! Attentive staff, easy ordering, fast service. Not many options to choose from but covers a good range of flavors. Cook upon ordering makes it so fresh but doesn't need to wait forever. Will definitely go back to try other pizza.
C.Pretty nice spot and would say most people would enjoy their pizza, however, there was some parts of my pizza that was doughy and/or under-cooked. I would chalk that up the time of day and the fact it was a slower weekday and they were not busy. Therefore the oven floor was not up to the usual temp at a guess. IE: The top cooked perfectly but the underneath to middle did not get the same love. If you visited during a busy time I'm sure you would get a better result. Nice outdoor seating and the complex has a good range of beer on tap. Well worth a visit in my opinion.

So we ended up splitting the toppings on a single pizza. It was amazing and the cost was very reasonable. Will visit again next time I'm in Christchurch!
C.We went to base wood fired pizza a couple nights ago and it was good. Wait was a little long, as to be expected during the dinner rush, but the pizza was just alright. We got the spicy pepperoni and basil pizza. Pepperoni was a bit overpowering... Look wise, pizza is a 10 - taste wise it’s a 6 or 7!

B.Honestly one of my favourite pizzas ever!! I normally get the king with no pineapple but today they put a different sauce on so I was very gutted when I drove home to share with my family to then realise it wasn’t what I thought I had ordered? But other than that they have been perfect every other time!! Love the service too.
S.I had given up all hope on enjoying pizza again since becoming vegan 2 years ago and the vegan mushroom and thyme pizza is UNREAL even my non vegan, normal cheese loving partner had a bite and said it tasted just like normal cheese! The staff were really lovely and the pizza come out super fast can’t wait to go back again!
J.Their pizzas are pretty expensive for their size, but they have a pretty good variety of flavours! Taste wise, their pizzas are better than average, but definitely still costly. Would probably eat this for sharing instead of having a whole pizza to yourself for dinner. Be prepared to spend at least $20 on pizzas from here!

My friends had amazing wood fired pizza (in particular the one with peperroni and the slightly spicy sauce, we all loved it!) and my vegetarian burger was probably once of the best I had in a while.

N.The place was a litte difficult to locate, however was a hidden gem when found. The woodfired pizza was a treat. We had ordered the Veggie Pizza and were not disappointed, though I do wish they had jalapenoes available, nonetheless, a good meal after a long day of walking.
T.Lovely pizza but chips were of poor quality/portion. Handcut fries appeared to be only deep fried crumbs which was poor for the price. I feel they could also add aioli/gravy as a sauce option for these.
S.Truely magical pizza and good value too considering the quality. Wood fired pizza oven makes the difference. Also there are many different food outlets in the centre so the whole family gets what they want for dinner in one location.

Fantastic Pizza (the Moroccan Lamb is really something interesting) and a good rounded APA on tap to help it down.
Great atmosphere and perfect place to let off some steam after a long day at work. Figuring out where to go may seem a bit odd at first but the entrance is off the main road, down the passage way (see photo) and you walk straight into it. Look out for "The Little High" .... its inside 😉
I either Love a place (5-star), find it ok (3-star) or didn't like it at all (1-star).
P.Great pizza. Awesome icecream sundaes!I'd suggest getting one to share as they are massive and come with things like whole donuts and brownies in them plus icecream plus cream plus sauce. Awwww so delicious
D.Mac n cheese hash browns were epic. Pizza was really good but was expecting more for $19 and "large" could definitely be a bit larger. Overall awesome though and would go back.

Decided to have a pizza, Mac and cheese hash brown and washed down with an Oreo milkshake. All super tasty and highly recommend the mac bites. Enough for two people to share tbh.

W.Disaster strikes on every corner of this Earth in one form or another, whether it is by tornado, volcano, tsunami, or in Christchurch, New Zealand, Earthquakes. Over a period of a year beginning in 2010, the city was destroyed by a series of earthquakes, and now a 25 year plan is in place to rebuild it to its former glory. Part of this rebuilding plan includes bringing in new business to the area. In the center of the town is a makeshift mall with stores and cafes called Re-Start. It is a special area made up entirely of cargo containers, redesigned to house businesses. Among these businesses is a wonderful wood fired pizza establishment called BASE. Normally I write and focus on higher end restaurants and wine, but these cafes and small business trying to rebuild impressed me to the point where I had to write about them, and let the world know they existed.
I and several co-workers were on our way to work in Antarctica for six months at McMurdo Station, and because of bad weather were delayed in Christchurch for over a week. During this time we had a chance to sample a lot of the local restaurants and see the rebuilding of the city from the devastating earthquakes. Inside the center of the city was Re-Start, where we ate several meals at local café’s, amongst them being Base, a small family owned cargo container, with a wood fire oven, and very higher end pizza selections with a variety of toppings you would normally see at a fine dining restaurant versus a small pizzeria.
I have never run into a café built into a cargo container before, but If I were to compare the cuisine offered by Base to my other experiences in world travels, I would say they match if not exceed restaurants such as Gino’s Pizzeria, in Chicago and Pizza Republica, in Centennial, Colorado.
