5 stars for your beers because they are awesome but 2 stars for your last call time. We arrived to your place a couple days ago at 8:15pm and were sent home even though you close at 9pm. We couldn’t even get take away beer! We arrived today about 7:30pm and were told that we have to order food in 10 min if we want to eat and last call for drinks is at 8pm-why do you close at 9pm then? And why we couldn’t get a take ways beers first time when we paid last thing today anyway?? Never experienced last call 1h ( beer garden was quiet full) before closing time. And we weren’t the only ones who were surprised. About twenty potential customers were sent home because of your super early last call. Don’t get it from customer side, especially when finished staff sit there and keep drinking beers/cocktails anyway. I would understand closed kitchen or last call if there is one or two tables only but I don’t get last call one hour prior closing time for busy place, with people coming and not even take away option if till is the last thing you do anyway. A bit shame because we can’t rely on opening hours and you are loosing a few customers

Bar staff that know their beer.. A band on a Sunday with kids dogs and people singing along (OK.. No the dogs). Tasting selections of beer... and simple but spectacular food.. Cassels burger = love . I wish I was a local.

This was from a couple of years ago, my son was awarded a Cassels voucher for a pizza from his football club. We sat outside & ordered a pizza with side dishes & drinks. Service was pleasant & the pizza was delicious. However I was asked to hand over my debit plus card or my drivers license as security as according to the server Cassels has had a spate of patrons leaving without paying for their meals. I noticed that my son & I were the only people of color sitting outside, there was 2 couples of white patrons sitting outside as well. Is this standard practice?

Had a pretty tasty pizza lunch here. I've been looking for a good mushroom pizza in Christchurch and the Styx Mill was definitely satisfying. It did have whole cloves of garlic on it, which were cooked nicely but I found a bit odd. Anyway, I'd recommend stopping by, I'm sure the atmosphere in the evening is great too.

Love this place! Great range of beers on tap and they will have ones that aren't in the shops. They had a nitro version of their milk stout (like Guiness) - which was delicious! We were there Saturday afternoon and they had some live music which was nice. A pizza, chips and onion rings left 3 people well fed. Great food! It's a relaxed environment that you take the little ones along to, the only issue is they don't have a baby changing table in any of the bathrooms.

The beer here is really good and includes some amazing guest beers and ciders. The pizza was great, but save room for the Apple tart for 2. It is big enough to share and it is amazing! Stop by in the weekend to enjoy some love music on the covered outdoor patio.

Nice place to hang around with friends and have few beers/drinks. Lots of good things to munch. The cauliflower tempura is yummy. We tried also some gluten free base pizzas and everything was quite good. The Level of noise could be quite loud inside but outside, when temperatures are warm, it's much better.

My friend had invited me to dinner here, it was my first time and I took my 10 year old son along. We went on one of the TUESDAYS Two for One Pizza nights. It was quite busy when we arrived which is why there is a need to book in advance. The staff were quick to welcome us and then show where our seating was. Ordering did not take too long and we were given an estimate time of getting our pizzas in half an hour, but we received them within 20minutes. I was quite impressed at how busy it was but the staff did not forget to come by regularly to check up if we needed anything such as water or something else. Will definitely come back again, thanks! 😊

One of my go to pizza places. Great selection and good flavour combinations. Nice thin bases and not overloaded with toppings. Great balance. Never had anything less than excellent. Haven't tried other menu items but they have a nice selection of small sweet things as well as desserts and coffee.

Cassels Nitro Milk Stout is simply the best in the world - fact! Their wood fired pizzas are a perfect companion to their beer, the staff are uber friendly and the atmosphere is outstanding! Cassels is one of our happy places and the fact that it is family friendly is one massive bonus!

Amazing beers. Best award in the world for the milk stout (blind tasting, three years now) but try the double milk stout and Nectaron. Pizzas generally worth a shot to, but remember it's a brewery!

This place is so versatile. It's a winner on all fronts including the menu specials. It suits married couples, groups, or if you want a place of solitude to rest in for a while. Great outdoor and indoor seating, spacious, staff are friendly as. Do you like going to the pub, cafe or restaurant? This place is all three. I usually get the $2 muffin special after 4pm and a coffee. Everything else is not too expensive either. How do the other places compete with this? Always best service. I've been to pizza night, half price on Tuesdays, very yummy. Sometimes there is a band on a Friday or Saturday night.

Great place especially on a hot day like today. Staff were hot too! Meals were above the norm especially my side salad. We joked about the lemon 'cheek' on the menu. (turns out it's more than just a wedge). Atmosphere is pretty convivial and parking not a problem so no time constraint adds to the relaxed nature. Would definitely recommend.

The service was great. The fish meal was delicious lovely salad. The calamari was very greasy and tough. In commenting to the waitress she said it was hit and miss as to which chef prepared it. Don't take the risk. I didn't like the new menu at all.

Bit on the pricey side for lunch $30 mains (I don't think there are any budget option as even the pizza is $29+) food was reasonable, service reasonable though a bit slow. Decent range of beers. They have live music often so good if you like that. Been here a couple of times, this time the food was better and I'ld give 4 stars. First time we went here I got a special pork dish that was pretty bad (chewy and bland) and would have given 2 stars.

Mum and I decided to have an early lunch here after a spot of shopping in the Tannery. The salad options are tremendous; absolutely delicious and so well priced! We had a glass of wine each and I had the brie and avocado croissant (which was huge) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The waitress was more than happy to take pictures for us, which was in keeping with the rest of the staffs behaviour. Faultless customer service, lovely atmosphere and fabulous food.. what's not to love!? We will be Back!!!

3,5 - Went with colleagues for happy hour a few times. There is nice seating outside in the heated tent, but in summer there are quite a few flies, and the tables were sticky. Went with a friend who liked it more than I do for lunch a couple of times, and found the food is overpriced for the pub fare it is. Staff is helpful and friendly. Would add 0,5 star for tasty cider on tap.

The pizza is also really good, and they have 2-4-1 pizza on a Tuesday evening. The roast vegetable soup was delicious to begin with, and then it got hotter and hotter with an overwhelming peppery seasoning! I ordered a Smores cake which looked divine but was ghastly in texture, a gelatine topping and dry stale cake....the staff forgot about my chai latte and was given the dessert and chai latte for free due my experience there. To top it off, some weird guy came and sat at my VERY small table without being invited to join me and the staff member brought two spoons with her with my cake! Never assume people!

Great place,great food only thing i totally dissagree with is that charging $6.00 for a glass of coke that to me is highway robbery out of a post mix and also after telling them i was sober driving considering i bought 8 people to drink at the brewery,also closing time at 9.30 on a saturday night when they were still busy. Still good place to go just should be looking after sober drivers.

April 2019 - I was having lunch at this place located next to The Tannery. I've been here many times for drinks but this is the first time that I eaten here. Anyway, it has a modern feel with a bit of retro style. You can choose either to sit inside or outside (sheltered with outdoor heaters). I ordered a Devilled Prawn Cocktail and it was marvellous. The prawns were succulent and flavoursome, and balanced with the salad. Very refreshing compared to other dishes. I would consider it as healthy dish. This is a licensed eatery and you can order the drinks 🍻🍸🍷🍾🍹🍺. There is an outdoor area and smoking 🚬 is [definitely] not permitted inside the building or the covered outdoor area. There is a smoking area next to the covered area. Onsite and street parking 🅿. They accept cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments (yes, Paywave is available), for those who want to know. Friendly staff. Would I go back? Yes 😏 Would I recommend? Yes 😊 Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Can't go wrong with devilled prawns cocktail. Tasty and delicious 😋. Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Nice interior deco. Great atmosphere. Price: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. The pricing is slightly expensive = Small portion size. I wish the portion is bigger as I can't get enough of it.

The beer 🍺 was great quality. I should mention the food was great also. However they brew their own beer at this place, so it’s well worth trying it. The food was also very good, and the locals love the place. 💕

Fantastic beer. Disappointing pizza - base soggy, wasn't able to eat by the slice had to use knife and fork. Do not get the port levy pizza - is like a lamb sauce rather than bits of lamb, hardly any currents. Service often hit and miss here but just come for the beer. They brew their own and there's a flavour for everyone. Milk stout is very drinkable dark with choc/coffee notes, I don't normally like dark beer but love very this one. Steak meal overpriced for quality of steak, fish n chips really tasty but once again fine dining prices. Just stick with the 🍺 it never disappoints. Set in beautiful tannery building which is well worth checking out.

There is an lovely atmosphere both in and outside, high quality beer (both their own and guest brews), good food and excellent coffee, all delivered by a friendly and efficient team. And there is a great variety of interesting shopping right next door.

We had a lovely lunch at the brewery today for my friends birthday . I would like to say how friendly and accommodating the staff were ! We were charged no extra for them to bring out a birthday i had made and dropped off earlier . They provided plates , knives , a bowl full of cream and boxes for us to take leftover cake away , again at no extra cost . Well done guys !
