I took my partner here for her Birthday, yes it’s expensive but the food is delicious and worth it. Probably the best “fine dining” experience we have had in New Zealand. We got the 7 course menu and felt pretty satisfied afterwards

I and my wife went out for Valentine’s Day Dinner yesterday. The food was delicious and a excellent fine dining experience. The atmosphere, service and the all to together experience was amazing. We got the 7 course menu along with matching wines. The Food and service was just brilliant. Will definitely visit again.

Food and service both excellent. The man who served us (I wish I got his name) was brilliant with his service and explaining the dishes. It was our anniversary and they even wrote a message with chocolate on my wife's dessert plate. Will definitely visit again and keen to try the wine matching next time as well.

Located in a complex, ample carparks available. Good steak, well cooked, good portion and decent price, cocktails/mocktails were not available for lunch, which was a shame. Its a warm day, it was a bit heated in the restaurant, air con wasn't on. Nothing was bad nor impressive that will make us want to go back again.

Ventured to Chillingworth Road on a Saturday evening in November - have been several times before and it is one of my favourite restaurants in Christchurch as it never disappoints. Chose the 7 course trust the chef menu this time. Every dish was awesome! Yum! Fantastic service with wine/water refills continually monitored and topped up :-). It always surprises me how few restaurants do this! Free parking at the door. Pre-dinner drinks in the attached Bistro-style venue or Joe's Garage next door.

Chillingworth Road is Canterbury’s chic must dine to-go-to. Located a few minutes drive from downtown Christchurch, this unsuspecting restaurant treated the diners with huge surprises. From the luxurious yet simple decor, well thought degustation menu and warm staff. It is one CCH little best secret.

Had 9 course meal. Service was attentive. Not pleasant food, terrible wine pairing. 40/40 salmon, duck and beef fillet was okay. Repeated ingredients of asparagus and salmon used for the first three courses. Taste of duck with mango pumpkin puree didn't go any well with Last Shepherd Pinot Noir, the Chicken with yam with CR Merlot was just awful choice of food-wine matching although they are my favourite wines. Overall we felt they attempt to keep their cost very low for the price of the meal.

The 9 course degaustation is an amazing experience. Every course was beyond delicious. I would very highly recommend checking it out. Our server was generally professional (and friendly/awesome!) as well as being knowledgeable about the food & matching wines. An experience in food you should definitely check out. Edit 2021: I came back because it was such an experience last time around & I wanted to test my besties. Maybe the 7 course menu was a little less my style this time around (despite bringing back memories of deliciousness!) than last time around, but I cannot complain. If you want to try new foods, I would suggest trying this style of dining. Take your time and appreciate the moments and company. I would very much recommend visiting.

Absolutely love this place. Staff are friendly and attentive but relaxed at the same time. The food is a sensory journey which allows you to try a variety of food and flavors. I love the fact that most dishes are often combinations that I'd normally go "No thanks", yet by trusting the chefs you are left going "OK - I stand corrected ". My favorite tonight was a dish that had the most divine balsamic reduction around the plate edge with anise seeds. For a moment I thought "Could I make that at home?" - but then concluded its best to leave the magic to the magicians/chefs at Chillingworth Road 8-).

Very nice place to sit down in a relaxed atmosphere and enjoy a great coffee. Quite boutique in a way. The restaurant has a backroom where people can have a special occassion meal. This room has sliding doors making it nice and quiet. Car parking is easy as there is plenty of parks in the large car park outside.

We found the place slightly pretentious, in a suburban mall…I don’t think the sizes of dishes are well balanced, I know it’s fine dining, but even then was not expecting to feel hungry after a 7 courses degustation menu (and I am a small sized female)! The taste of individual dishes are nice but nothing particularly memorable. If you are after a really tasty and funky night out (and be well fed) try 5th street in Sydenham!

My daily coffee fix. Great coffee, great people. EDIT: Photos added, the things the team bake here are so good. I am saving up Chillingworth's for a special occasion to go for dinner here, as everyone tells me their degustation menu is to die for! Edit 2: Amazing night out for the bistro menu. The beef cheek and pork were great, unbelievable wine options. The Pegasus Bay Savingnon Blanc was amazing, with smoky whiskey-esque notes.

Nice cuisine however it is a shame that the 7 course menu is not offering a cheese and desert option instead of 2 deserts. Personally for the price of the wine match I found the wine selection quite poor...This restaurant needs a better cellar.

Delicious! Delicious! Went to this restaurant with my wife for a special dinner. Oh boy!, what an experience. The food and service was outstanding. The wine match were on point. Highly recommend this for any special occasion, but book in advance to avoid disappointment. They are fully booked most of the nights. Try the degustation menu.

Would be 5 star but the location...Hmmmmm. We thought Google Maps had taken us to the wrong place! A horrible strip-mall in a light industry/commercial area. Yuk. And the front restaurant is a bistro - sensible way to get extra business but we felt really overdressed waiting to go into the back. Which is very lovely and the food and service are excellent. We had multiple course menus with wines and it was wonderful. Then we left and walked across the huge carpark and past the Gun City... Oh dear. Please move Chillingworth!

This restaurant has been the number one destination for me and my wife for several years so it pains me to score so badly. The usual exceptional standard appears to be lacking. Table staff have changed and seem to lack the skills and finesse Chillingworth has always been renowned for. The wine list has been dramatically scaled down and lacks the quality and depth it once had. Last but by no means least the food, well it’s still above average apart from a few strange combinations that didn’t really work, well cooked and reasonably presented. But for Chillingworth nothing had the Wow that we have become so used to, average is not what I expect for Chillingworth or for Chillingworths prices, when paying premium that’s what you expect. Overall we had an OK meal but still left feeling disappointed and a little longing for what’s been lost.

Having been here twice now I would say that Chillingworth is the new Saggio di vino or Pescstores. This place is provides a lovely way for exploring food and you will be treated to an incredible culinary experience during your degustation journey. You can either go through 5, 7 or 9 plate options and I always tell friends you will lick yourself if you don't go for the full distance! They have an absolutely amazing drinks selection to complement their meals and their staff are incredibly professional without being distant from their customers. They use a wonderful assortment vod ingredients which are locally and sustainably caught. I searched high and low and I could not find one fault in this place. They are just a flawless unit!

Trust the Chief🤩 From arrival we were greeted by a very kind and friendly team who then took us to the back room, where the setting became private and very cosy. The Food was art on a plate!!! Each serving had a magic touch,to the chiefs credit and had all of us gobsmacked. Shouted my friend here for her birthday the other night and we had the 5 course menu... it was incredible! We shared everything and couldn't decide on the sides so got 3! Amuse bouche / taster was a slice of sort of terrine on a cheese cracker topped with pear. Yummy biteful. Starters were the tortellini...SO good, my fave of the two so definitely recommend and the panko crumbed egg with delicious smoky bacon. Cleanser was mango sorbet, very refreshing. Main we had Pork (wow) and Lamb - also good but the pork was better... I think I'd go beef next time. The standout side was definitely the Broccoli with garlicy almond slices... loads of almonds it was really good. The agria puree (mash) was perfect too. Dessert...I'm not a massive dessert person but chillingworth has changed me!! Fantastic desserts the lemon one had a lemon tart/pie with a cruncy creme brulee topping and little meringues and profiteroles scattered around, it was tangy and sour and awesome. The chocolate dish was also heaven... the chocolate oozed out of the wee cake it had a berry sorbet and was perfectly balanced to not be a chocolate overload. I think we chose the best 2 desserts but may have to return soon to be sure ;) Cocktails: REAL cocktails - the chillingworth cocktail was delicious!! Loved the wine glasses also and it is definitely a romantic ambient vibe... will take the boyfriend next time! Service was perfect - the only thing I thought and it's really not a big deal but I did say that I was there for my friends birthday, the girl behind bar said she'd mention to chef however nothing was mentioned to us and the table next to us had a birthday sparkler plate for their birthday! I think it was just forgotten about! We love the lunches here too....
