A.Very good place. They adapted their menu to our food needs - salad instead of chips, sweet ice coffee with soy milk. Super easy, very nice. Garden in the back. Recommended 😊
W.Stopped In tonight for a meal on way back from nelson. Wasnt expecting much however i was blown away by the meal (fish) and the service was excellent. These people know what there doing. I will go back for sure.

K.Stopped on our way home from Hanmer with hungry bellies. Ordered the roast of the day and a chicken wrap. Both were spectacularly good. The best chips I have ever had and with the gravy...devine! To top it all off the service was outstanding. We will be back for sure!

E.Great wee place, is what it is. Stopped in here on the way to hamner for lunch brunch. Staff were great friendly and helpful. Got a free game of pool,meals were good for pub style and came out quickly. Really enjoyed this pit stop.

The front of house was exceptionally friendly and I was stoked when I learned that the menu was super accommodating to my gluten intolerance. D.Great restaurant great meals for awesome price. Sarah is a lovely lady only to happy to help. Only let down was the Ice chocolates they needed to have chocolate in them. Ours were like just milk with chocolate sprinkle so on top. Culverden is a beautiful place to stop.

A.An excellent stop for us. We were passing through on the way to CHCH and looking for some dinner. We found good food served quickly at a good price, and lots of campervan-friendly parking. Very friendly people. Thanks.
H.The Culverden Cafe is a homely place. Nice enough but could use a little more TLC in the outside seating area and toilets. It has a good amount of indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonable prices with $12 lunch specials and all-day cooked breakfast from $20. The food was tasty and in good sized portions. The service, in our experience, was not so good unfortunately. After ordering 2 lunch specials and a brownie on the side, we took our number and sat outside as there was a large group still finishing their meals inside. About 25 minutes later I went to check on our food, was told it was just being cooked then and would be out shortly. It was another 10 minutes until our meals arrived, but missing our dessert. We ended up getting the brownie to go as we left. The young lady serving at the counter was friendly and helpful when we ordered and very apologetic about the wait. I think maybe they were a bit short on staff as she was serving the bar as well as the cafe and there looked to be only one chef. I work in the service industry and completely understand how things get forgotten or delayed sometimes, so I'm not holding it against them, but the slow service is still worth mentioning as an area for improvement.

J.Great friendly staff, great setting with a lovely court yard. I came on the hottest day of the year. The host brought out the big fan in the lounge to compensate for the air con not working. The bed and breakfast was basic, but still good value for money at $65/night for a single.
To improve the experience, I would add a chair and a table in each room and add fruit and yogurt to the breakfast menu of muesli corn flakes, pop corn, milk, toast, spreads, tea, coffee, Milo. Maybe even supply a few eggs, bake own bread? Also, use a metal kettle, not plastic. Going the extra mile goes a long way to add a good impression.
It was not clear where guests should eat their breakfast.
The hosts should consider adding a kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, stove and table and chairs for overnight guests. It would be quite easy to do, to improve the experience. Maybe there already was one, I just want aware of it.
Alternatively the breakfast could be kept in the main lounge and guests should be informed they can eat their breakfast there or in the court yard.
I'll be back again, for sure. It's a very nice place and great service. Thank you for your kind hospitality. Keep up the good work. God bless. Jonathan.

C.I spent last night in one of the single rooms. I wanted to say that if anyone is researching how to make someone feel welcome, they should an evening here! From the moment I approached the counter and met “Bubbles” to to deciding to procrastinate to the last minute to leave, I felt like a VIP here. Bubbles was very proactive, assuring that I knew all the amenities available to me, including the “free dinner Friday.” That was DELICIOUS! My belly continues to be satisfied from the complimentary continental breakfast. Bubbles ensured I had a safe and convenient place to put my bicycle, and to top it all off, the room was equipped with a heater AND electric blanket. Feeling fat and happy, I am ready for another day on my bicycle:)

Had to stay 2 nights for mechanic to come up from CHCH . the B & B was fantastic, lunches and dinners to die for! The owners were a delight and the staff proficient, helpful and made me feel like I was one of the family . I will definitely go back for a weekend!
Back again .. love this place .. had soup ,(so tasty) on the way up to Hanmer Springs and Eggs Benedict (best ever .. fantastic) on my way home to CHCH .. yes I'll be back!!!
