Good location for the early birds to grab the breakfast. Friendly staff and good service, waffle is yummy, my daughter likes it so much. Car park could be the issue when the street is busy.

Got the Drexel special with extra bacon and loved it. Great food and quick service but it’s almost too speedy so it’s hard to judge customer service. It gets pretty loud when busy and the food is pretty pricy but an otherwise good spot for a brunch catch up.

Has to be the best breakfast place in Ōtautahi Christchurch! We've been coming here for many years for birthdays in the family. Excellent food, hearty portion sizes and reasonable pricing. It's always super busy on weekends so booking is essential if you don't want to miss out. Highly recommend making a booking for weekdays too. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly, energetic and so onto it, they always seem to pop around with the bottomless coffee pot just as you're starting to think ooh I could go for another cup. Cannot recommend Drexel's enough. Oh and bonus points for the little birthday candle they gave my partner with his pancakes because we mentioned he was a birthday boy!

The food was nice. We took all 5 members of our family out for breakfast. We all ordered something different. The customer service was also great. There was a wee 4 minute wait but nothing to complain about. We will be back. Our youngest son also has autism was a wee bit loud but nothing that our son couldn't cope with.

Great service. I had the Eggs Benedict with salmon. He had the Farmers breakfast. My only criticism is the hash brown that is served with them both is flavorless and too big and thick a slab. Our poached eggs were just under so still had some runny white which isn't pleasant to eat.

Overall good but a bit overhyped. The prices were on the high side, personally for the same price I'd rather go to another brunch place where the atmosphere is better and less hectic. The location is very convenient though. The food was decent, eggs on the eggs benedict were good and I did like the homemade hash browns.

The food was nice. Anyway, the service was fast and mostly good apart from one of the staff members (maybe she was the duty manager) was very abrupt and impolite. I know that it is a busy Sunday but the way that she approached us was very rude and not in a very pleasant manner, all but throwing the menus at us. No grace under pressure.

Food was ok. When I heard it was an American style breakfast diner I was excited. But the service isn't anywhere close to what you get in the USA. Went early on a Monday so place wasn't packed but after dropping our meals we couldn't get a refill on the coffee for 20mins..and then the waitress only came over because the burrito we ordered to go was ready. Waste of time getting the refill coffee if they don't bother to come and refill it.

Absolutely fantastic! Been a regular here for years and the standard has never slipped. They have a wide range of food with a list of extras so you can have your meal however you like! And in true American fashion, they have unlimited filter coffee for $4

We had a very early breakfast there and were impressed with the food and service. Food was fresh and delicious, and served pretty quickly. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I was not sure about one drink and one lady was very patient to explain to me. Good stuff!

This is a great breakfast restaurant where you can order from a menu or create your own breakfast from the available sides. They guarantee your meal will not be ready in 5 minutes. This is because they guarantee it will be of excellent quality. To avoid any hunger pains they bring out toast with a nice raspberry (I think it's raspberry?) jam. As this is a restaurant it would pay to book. Also because they do breakfast only the restaurant closes at 2pm. Do note it is part of the Ricccarton Mall so head to the Mall car parking. Definitely worthy of a visit - I keep going back. The photo of the little paper cup and wooden knife and fork highlight Drexel's awareness for sustainable practices.

Absolutely amazing. Restaurant was full and there was a great turnover. However it didn't take long to get our food and it was absolutely delicious. Definitely recommend this breakfast Restaurant. Good breakfast. But their 5 min serving. Didn’t hold as our breakfast came after 30 mins. It ws busy though on a Thursday at 11am. Different in a sense that with eggs one got a potato fried mash sort of a thing. Nachos chipotle was good too. Filter coffee was ok. Over all 3.5.. should visit Once. 20/6/20 Visited again and very impressed. Generous servings and very happy with the servers. Drexel delux plus nachos plus salmon bagel. Well done.

We had our work team xmas brekkie here and it was so yummy I forgot to take a photo of the food before I inhaled it (well as much of it as I could - the portion sizes are huge). The Drexels special offers the perfect mix of sweet/savoury breakfasty goods and I’ve been craving the hashbrown and french toast ever since we ate here. It was super busy but the kitchen and wait staff ran that place like a well oiled machine so we didnt wait long to eat & pay the bill. Great service and amazing food, if you’ve been thinking about going.. just go 😉

Love this place. Really good taste on breakfasts. Every time I stop in Christchurch I come here for breakfast. Size of the plate is big enough to stuff most of people. Highly recommended!

The food here is delicious, unless you're a big eater I would suggest only getting 2 pancakes as they are very generous servings. The coffee was some of the best I've had in a while. We sat at the bar so we could see the kitchen and the wait staff in action, the staff were very efficient and worked amazing as a team, the place was packed but food was brought out in a timely manner and customer service was on point throughout our entire meal

Absolutely love this place for breakfast!!! Wonderful customer service from Tania Wilson as I wasn't feeling too good on the day I went in and then she noticed and put us somewhere more quiet and secluded it was great, just what I expect when it comes to customer service 😊 our waitress was Emma Ham and she was vibrant and full of energy and knows how to make conversation, we had a good chat as she had an accent, she is here on working visa and reckon she came to the right place (new Zealand) I'm a huge critic and wouldn't normally do this but Emma wanted to come here and work and she is doing it well, I highly suggest Tania or Emma to work within your establishment as they have passion and drive for work 😊🤗 I only have one complaint and that is the hot chocolate, I love my hot chocolate, chocolaty with heaps of chocolate but my hot chocolate tasted like milk 😑 waffles were delicious and so was the breakfast, rest of the food is amazing and will be definitely going back there again and again and again 😍😍😍

Been dining with Drexel's since the 1990s. A consistent experience of great breakfast, great service and a buzzing atmosphere. Don't get your usual breakfast, try something different, like American style pancakes or huevos rancheros. Love the bottomless coffee. Book in advance, especially school holidays and weekends.

Wow, what a great breakfast place will not be my last visit. Eggs Perfect and fantastic service. 3 of us ate, I had the Farmers Breakfast (Big Brekky) has the lot. Poached eggs perfect. The other guests had Smashed Avocado and bacon, going for that next time ;-) And last of all but not and less impressive was the Avocado and Bacon Bagel with Scrambled eggs. Will be back to work my way thru this menu. Side note - apparently you should book, so maybe call ahead first. A booking app would be great, linked to google maps.

I understand Drexel's is considered a Christchurch institution, having been among the first to bring "brunch" to the city in 1986. It certainly felt like a stuck in the past, "don't scare the horses" kind of place. A clean, well-fitted premises that lacked character. The menu was a breakfast snooze, albeit the dishes were executed adequately. A fine kinda place to take your nan, or your brother-in-law and his brood of littleluns, but the modern brunch-lover expects more.

A special treat for me going out for brunch with my extended family. Funny thing when I ordered two meals for myself because I couldn't choose between them the staff were concerned I would not be able to finish them. They do doggy bags so not really a problem. I can't get enough of this place. I first went in because the sign said American breakfast, and after several years in New Zealand, I was missing the kind of pancakes I was used to back home. Drexels makes such an excellent American style pancake that I find it difficult to make myself order anything else. As someone else commented, booking is definitely essential, as it's always busy. The food is worth the wait though.

Fantastic experience on my first visit! This place is a well-oiled machine, they have obviously been doing this for years. Staff are on to it, attentive and accomodating. Food was delicious and portions were generous. It’s American Diner style food but much higher quality. Homemade hash browns are to die for! Prices make for great value too. So was my first time to Drexels and I must say ordering the Drexels special which I chose poached eggs and bacon I felt the meal lacked some hype like at least some complimentary hollandaise sauce. The French toast was very enjoyable but also wasn’t presented to the table with syrup which I felt you shouldn’t need to request but other wise I enjoyed my time here

As an American eating this American-style breakfast, I can confirm it is, in fact, American-style (certainly plenty of delicious food). The pancakes were hot and delicious. And the eggs and bacon were cooked to simmering satisfaction. The service was even better, with an exceptionally personable and welcoming wait staff. Fantastic overall breakfast experience.

We enjoyed a fabulous staff breakfast last Friday morning. Our team enjoyed the breakfast special which is a favourite for those who can't make up their mind about savoury or sweet ;) 2 of our guys had the avacado smash on toast with poached egg's and I very much enjoyed my french toast with bacon and fresh banana's. Everyones plates were scraped clean and the boys said it filled them up for the whole day. A lovely breakfast made even more enjoyable by our waiter Ruby who was attentive, conscientious and fast. We are very happy with the outcome & would acknowledge that Drexel's has gone above & beyond to make sure we were satisfied & felt listened to ** Made another visit this morning, to what is usually our favorite special occasion breakfast venue, only we were left with a very sour taste in our mouths this time (literally). One member of our group ordered banana pancakes, which she orders every time & loves, however this time around they were expremely salty & after a few of us tried them we all found the same very over-salted flavour. We made a rare decision to alert the staff & ask for a replacement dish, even though the person involved didn't want to make a fuss. The staff member returned & told us we were wrong & there was no way the pancakes could be too salty, it was just the butter & they could remove the butter & re-grill them or we could just have them as they were. I can't recall another time at any other establishment when you would be told simply you are wrong & to basically put up with it. Poor form Drexel's, no one in our party will be returning anytime soon & we will be telling anyone who's thinking of going, to think again because clearly the customer is not the most important part of your business. When we paid our bill we refused to pay for the half-eaten meal & had to fully explain the whole situation again to the staff member at the till as they had no idea of what we were even talking about. Time to rethink you're approach to customer service. Not happy.

I'm usually not a fan of hash brown, but theirs was nice that I almost finished the whole thing when I said I would leave it for my wife. I also appreciate the complimentary toast - I thought this was a really generous gesture. The whipped butter that came with it was top notch. The environment is really nice too - we were there about 7:45 in the morning and while they had a few tables filled, it was still peaceful enough for a nice and slow breakfast. Service is efficient and warm. If I'm in Christchurch, I would be back here again.

The food is good but it's always fully booked, have to get in quick otherwise they turn you away... I think they should stay open later, they could be earning a lot more money by staying open later than 2pm.
