Dux Central has a nice pub-style atmosphere and is cosy on colder nights with good outdoor heating as well. The service is prompt and friendly, the food is pretty good and fairly priced. They have a very large selection of beers and ciders in their refrigerator “library” which looks awesome.

We were a large group for farewell party. The place was beautiful and spacious. The bar area has multiple sitting areas with classy pub atmosphere inside and a great courtyard. We ordered a lot, covered almost all variety of foods.The food looked so good and super impressed with how quick our meals came out and how delicious everything was. They have good option for drink as well. I ordered chicken crispy pizza which was great. The surprising thing was they have gultan free and dairy free option. Sitting area was too good and unique and different in outside and inside. One of great things was, the staff and their services. They were very kind, helping and accommodating. If you have some food left over they can packed for you. Totally recommended If u r looking for good place for food in city centre.

Love this place! We come from Singapore for a company trip and decided to have our last dinner in New Zealand here. Turns out that it was a good decision! Foods are on point. Services are good and friendly. Vibes are very fun and all. Recommended: the roasted pork belly, fish tacos, and seafood chowder!

Absolutely packed on early Friday evening a week or so back, assuming it is the ‘go to’ spot. Although we had to wait a wee while to be served for a drink at our table (due to covid restrictions we had to be served at our table as opposed to up at the bar), the beer was awesome! A huge selection of craft beers to try, so I’d highly recommend Dux Central for beer lovers. We’re going back!

Really cool place. We had a training event upstairs and it was great place to do so. They have projector, light dimmers, good speakers, lots of room and setup perfectly for such an event. All of this complimented with very attentive and helpful staff serving great food and drinks.

Perfect setting for sunny weekends, love that there are a few bars in the one location. Crispy chicken is worth it as they give you so much, and the pulled pork sliders are super yummy! Love the old-style crockery, and the service is great. Huge selection of beer and wine too.

WELL! this place is unforgettably great!!! STRONGLY recommend the smoked salmon pizza. Literally the best pizza I've ever had (not exaggerating) The wide range of tap beers are specifically brewed for them and are 10/10.. my favourite was the Nor'wester, surprisingly smooth for an 8% beer. The live music was perfect! And so many areas to sit and enjoy a different atmosphere. Oh! And the toilet doors are hilarious!! 😂😂

Great drinks and food in a trendy setting! Service is also fast and fun. They know how to do business here - offered us a free drink each when they asked us to move tables for a large booking. We were stoked to do so of course! Fried chicken and nachos are my favourite items on the menu

This is an awesome pub and restaurant in downtown Christchurch! A very casual vibe with very cool stuff who are friendly and helpful! My recommendation is have the seafood platter for 2... just super yummy and generous! Great wine and a nice selection of beers! Loved the outside space.. a must do in Christchurch!

Great duck bao! Reservation recommended. We got lucky and were there early, at 6pm, on a Thursday, but were told we only have until 7pm. Thankfully, they are FAST and the food was piping hot - I couldn't remember the last time we went out and the food was actually hot (my preference). Easy going ambience, quick service. Duck bao was really great, chicken bao was mediocre, dumplings great, I wasn't keen on the bbq bao buns but husband liked, and I got spicy wonton soup (which could easily be a lunch meal on its own... Also loved) First time visiting Dux and enjoyed it very much. Simple, good, fast, more unique than anything we have up in Blenheim!

A great (as the name suggests) central location, just a short walk to pretty much everywhere else in town. Yummy food, and good amount of space outside which gets the afternoon sun, I find the drinks pretty pricey but otherwise a great spot!

Went there for a group booking. Service was very good. People ordered all different meals and they all said they were delicious. I had the Beef Cheeks, they were awesome..cooked to perfection. Meals were a good size and plenty of choice for everyone..vegetarian, gluten free, diary free included. Restaurant has plenty of choices for seating. And if you are a craft beers person...you will love this place. Enjoyed so much going back again with a different group in a few days!!

I got pork belly, coleslaw was a bit watery otherwise was still pleasant to eat they forgot the gravy but I received some after asking. But please, I’m bagging you teach your staff about products you have. Last Thursday I was a bit disappointed with a new bartender who had no clue about beer you have. On my request to help me choose something reach and tasty instead of my favourite dark milk stout from tap she suggested me … wait for it…a bottle of lager, this killed me :( I refuse to believe that. Went here on Saturday for a friend's leaving drinks. Wasn't intending to stay long but the chilled atmosphere, great drinks, food and attentive staff (and of course good company) kept me there for hours. Dux central I would recommend for both a function or just a casual catch up.

The mussels and pork sake are to die for. We travel 25m for lunch during the week just for these. Absolutely amazing. Tacos are also good and the fact there are 50+ craft beers means this is a place not to be missed. Would recommend a booking as it does get busy.

Really enjoyed the braised beef cheek served on sticky rice with coconut cream in an Asian fusion style. Will be keen to try the Pork Belly, next visit.

First visit to Dux Central for a school reunion. The catering was finger food. Really nice fried chicken! Highly recommend sampling this from the menu. Cocktails are nice, a bit on the pricey side for and espresso Martini for $17. Other cocktails at $14 which is standard for Christchurch now. Really nice inside and outside seating area and well staffed for the event.

One was full of shell fish and salmon the other was more vegetables than seafood no salmon at all. Very disappointing, all agreed meals very average.

Not sure what the 3rd degree was about..anyway moving right along.

Great bar - excellent craft beers and delicious quality food. Would highly recommend the Ginger Tom. It's an incredible cross between a ginger beer and a light lager. Easy to drink and tastes absolutely 👌. Seasonal changes such as the winter menu are also highly welcomed with an mulled apple crumble cider - SO GREAT. Love this bar. If you want a good time don't miss out. Oh and the upstairs area is also a treat in summer.

I hadnt been back to dux in many many years. Arts centre days but loves the atmosphere, was caught out by a pricey cabinet IPA, but tried dux's tap hazy. Cheaper and hands down a better brew, more volume and cheaper. Double thumbs to the brewers!!

Lovely place but wallet crushingly expensive. I received a very polite reply from the Ops Manager so I will add a some detail. I asked for a pint of a craft beer (Double Vision) and got a half pint for $11. I realise this is high end venue but a pint for around $13 is more realistic.

Great trendy hotel in an excellent location for restaurants and shops. The bed was so comfortable I wanted to take it home with me! The shower was great.... though the trendy type that is part of the bathroom so you end up with water all over. Not a lot of space for luggage, and the bed reading lights are pretty weak. No reading chair. Great for o r or two nights though.

Nice bar and good staff we were a big group so were a little silly and the bar staff were willing to give us a little more freedom and joined in a little. I would go back it can get pretty warm inside but big enough indoor and outdoor space plus another level. If you want to have a good night out on the town in a place that is not too posh and still real enough why not give Dux Central a shot.

Was warm and comfortable inside when outside was freezing! Nice social place to visit with friends. If it's busy, expect a wait for food, but trust me it is worth it. Vegetarian and vegan options available. I recommend the flatbreads with dips and olives.

Great location. Lovely friendly service with a smile. Tasty food. We were lucky enough to get seating outside upstairs. My and my friends' only critism is that it was a very hot day and there was no shelter from the evening sun which impacted on our overall enjoyment. I would definitely return but on a scorcher of a day like Christmas Eve was, if there was insufficient indoor seating or shade to protect us from the sun I would be inclined to move on earlier than planned.

Hugely surprised by the menu here! I was expecting standard bar/pub fare but was pleasantly surprised. The grilled chicken caesar salad is a winner - the chicken was moist and flavorful. The fish n chips are crispy. The pizza is 💯. I'll definitely be back.

We spent most of our Sat night in the Emerald Room, we loved our cocktails & nibbles, fried chicken, fries etc all delicious!! Loved the decor & atmosphere 👍 Would have given 5* but the service was so slow, we had to go & find someone to serve us, our order was also forgotten about a couple of times. Great beer (~ 100) and delicious wine selections from an owner that appreciates the Best. The varied choices for sitting and dining both inside and out, in a fanciful design, are each very welcoming. The food is spot on in combination of flavors, cuisson and prompt service. You really can’t go wrong checking any and all the alternatives of drink and dining here. You’re likely to become a local even if your only vacationing, because you’ll keep coming back.

Found this place on my travels in Christchurch and stopped in for a drink and bite to eat. We had the crispy calamari and the caramelised leek, mushroom, and feta pizza. Both were really good! Nice outdoor area and good friendly service all-round. Definitely recommended, and try that pizza. It was delicious!

Awesome pretentious atmosphere , you can tell the bar staff are well trained by the way they glare at you just for showing up. I truly felt out of place when my card declined on 1 can of beer that cost more than my car . Very humbling experience . Would visit again because now having people look down their nose at me when I start visibly perspiring after being told the cost 330 ml of liquid carbohydrates is the only way I can get off .

Nice modern pub - craft beer, delicious pizzas, friendly & helpful staff, streamed women’s rugby :) Plenty of craft beers available - a dozen or so on tap plus a good range of bottles/cans including Behemoth brewing (not cheap but delicious!). Also has a good range of Belgian beers available looking at the fridge. The pizzas are amazing - crispy chicken is the best, the salmon and mushroom ones were nice too. Nice thin bases. Looks to have cocktail lounge too although we did not explore.

My mum & I went here after seeing a film. Disappointed at service, one waitress at the bar completely ignored us, was blunt and not welcoming or helpful at all. Seemed very sour and put off a bad vibe from the start of our experience. Was noisy and none of the available tables had been wiped down. No meal check either. Food was nice, calamari & fish tacos but service was a complete let down. Won't be back for a while..

Barman poured my neat whiskey in a tulip shaped glass which I was grateful for. I tried the Slane Irish Whiskey, it was quite nice. My burger, however, was sent to the wrong table and was only realised when we approached the bar. They provided me with another drink on the house which was much appreciated. When the burger did arrive it was really yum. I had the Fried Chicken Burger and Curly Fries.

Great location, actually has a few parkings right at the door and a Wilson carpark next to it. Good selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch and plates for sharing, good drink lists, slight down side is we were going to sit outside but the chairs are filthy, nice and friendly staff helping deciding the dishes which was gold! I was very impressed. Dux is an iconic chch brand and to be honest I hadn't been to either post earthquake Dux incarnations. Didn't disappoint when I met a colleague for a relaxed lunch. Love this place, mostly because of the layout but the staff are friendly too. There's different spaces throughout the Dux this makes it different every time you sit down. you can also explore the place to spice up a date without leaving try venture upstairs and make sure you visit the green room. I don't pretend to know anything about beer but food's great I can recommend the chicken tacos and nachos they come in hearty portions too which is great. If you aren't too hungry either of these are large enough to share tacos being the lightest .

I had the beef cheeks which were amazing, I would definitely order them again and again and again! However, we were seated inside where the air-conditioning seemed to be on about 15 degrees so asked if we could move to the very sunny, and not too busy, balcony. Unfortunately we were told no and that they would turn the air-con off however this didn't appear to happen. The bar and wait staff seemed disorganised, as did the kitchen, with one meal coming out at least five mins before the next two with the fourth one coming out a few minutes after that. It definitely didn't feel like the Dux of old and with all the choices in ChCh now I probably won't be back...

30th November 2018 - I came here for lunch with friends. Anyway, nothing much have changed as the interior layout is pretty much the same as before since my last visit in Aug 2016. The place has plenty of natural light (lots of glazing) and it feels cosy. The menu is very straightforward and is not overwhelming (which is a good thing) with choices. There are other dishes, "today's specials" on the blackboard. I ordered a pot of mussels (called Mills Bay Mussels) which the mussels are steamed in a white wine, chilli, garlic and coriander broth. It was served with garlic bread and let me tell you, it was delish and flavoursome. I like the broth; thick and tasty. The dish had some enough spiciness to enjoy (without destroying the taste) and goes well by dipping the garlic bread slices (I wish I had more). Overall, I had a good experience from this restaurant. The Dux is a Cristchurch institution and used to be located at the arts center before earth quakes. The Dux has been ahead of it's game for decades making their own craft beers. This is one of the best places to go in the city for an exceptional range of craft beers. Try the Dux beers but be careful with the Nor'wester IPA as it is exquisitely crafted, easy to drink but has a high alcohol rating. The bar is located centrally, is easy to find and has an outdoor area. Unfortunately you will need to share this area with the smokers as their is no outdoor no smoking area which I believe is the places only fault. Great food with an ever-changing menu, can't go wrong with the pizza.
