This typical English/Kiwi pub is a well kept Christchurch secret, in a lovely spot down by the River Avon. Met with friendly front if house staff, great local atmosphere just enough time to drink a coffee and have a chat before the food arrived. I have to say this was one of the best Sunday Roasts I have had for a very long time. The lamb was well cooked to perfection and the only reason I was not left wanting more was the portions were more than sufficient. The potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and seasonal vegs all cooked to perfection and the price point great value for money. We will be back for another meal without hesitation Great job guys JabZ

Have just come back from having lunch at The Pegasus Arms and what a great meal it was. The ambience was very appealing as it is like an old English Pub, the waitress who served us was very friendly and the time between service was just right. I cannot say enough about the food, it was hot, very very tasty and a huge plate. Thank you and we will return.

Good selection of beers for an afternoon of drinking and watching the cricket. Clean but worn outside covering. Live commentary could be heard in side but being summer outside music was fine. Inside the bar was clean and tidy. Food served was very nice. Steaks done as asked and platters with fresh deep fried selection. Toilets were clean. Friendly staff.

Just had the most incredible Sunday lunch roast meal at Pegasus Arms, beef N lamb with all the roasties plus amazing yorkshire pudding with tasty az gravy......meals are huge and such a great price too. Staff front of house are lovely, accommodating and hats off to the chef.....perfection, we will be back.

Never have my wife and I enjoyed a meal so much as we did last Sunday. It was in London three years ago that we had last dined on a traditional English Sunday roast, and keen to revisit that experience, Google informed us that we could do that at the Pegasus Arms at 14 Oxford Terrace. On being greeted on our arrival there we were ushered to a window table in the dining room of this historic building (circa 1850) and within 20 minutes of our arrival, a waitress placed before us a traditional English roast the size of which would have amazed even the gluttonous Henry VIII. The Yorkshire pudding was like a castle surrounded by a moat of delicious gravy, the perfect complement to a massive piece of the most succulent and perfectly roasted lamb and a generous serving of roast potatoes, carrots, pumpkins, broccoli, kumera and parsnip......and all of this for only $25 a head. The management of the Pegasus Arms clearly understands the concept of repeat business: please your customers on their first visit and they’ll be back - as indeed we certainly will.

Wonderful Sunday roasts. The tenderest most flavourful lamb roast I have had anywhere. Great to walk from Hagley Park or the hospital and enjoy the patio on a summer evening. It was later on a Sunday night and getting cooler, so We dined inside. There was a choice of loud or quiet areas. We were tired after a busy day so we chose the front room which is quiet. Thank you for a happy Valentine’s Day dinner.

I decided to surprise my wife on the recent cold Sunday, Googled options and decided on this place. The lunch was absolutely excellent - both in quantity and the superb quality. Hugo was so much more than our waiter - friendly, courteous and really good fun to talk with. Thanks to all for an amazing couple of hours - we are back in October on our next visit to Christchurch and have already recommended it to our friends.

The sunny courtyard is lovely. There is nothing better than drinking gorgeous wine that has been recommended to you by the staff! Louis is fantastic and we loved his service so much! He really went over and above multiple times for us and brought a laugh to the table as well.

Thus is a fantastic place to catch up with friends and relax after work. As the descriptions states, this not a pretentious bar. The snack menu is great as is the selection of drinks. Having been here for work functions as well, I can highly recommend it. It's location in the city is only going to improve since the construction work around it has nearly finished and the promenade along the Avon has opened up.

Excellent vibe from the minute you enter the door. The staff reinforce the atmosphere of old style English or Irish pub through proper image, demeanour and/or body language. The pub food is well presented and advertises itself through proper plating presentation. The beers always cold and the atmosphere is right for any night of the week. Hey if you want great tasting freshly made quality food with great atmosphere you need to visit this location off oxford terrace next to the Avon and close enough to the hospital to take a friend from there easily. Having a basic fish and chips I was surprised in selection pricing and quality beautifully presented ,exquisite flavour, large serving and low pricing the swift service makes this the ideal meeting spot with great indoor and garden bar feel.

Ordered cheesy chips and jus, mostly the chips were dry and hard. Was disappointed, But Pegasus Arms on previous orders have been exceptional. So considered a one off. Excellent customer service and friendly staff. Pre-ordered meals, arrived exceptionally quickly after arriving (as requested) for a large group. Very happy with the overall experience and with some staff arriving late, accommodation was made to keep food warm. Overall a pleasant experience. Only a 4 rating and only because the cheeses fries were dry and hard and happened to be the only thing I ordered. Otherwise, would have been a five.

An excellent pub meal to be had here. The food is of restaurant standard and very reasonably priced. The staff are warm and friendly. Above all it's consistent. I've been many times and The Pegasus Arms can be relied upon to serve the same high quality. Just one note Chefs. You do a great job but coud you please lay off the black pepper? Let the front-of-house staff ask the customer whether they want pepper rather than using it by default. Thanks to Dixie and the Pegasus Arms Crew for a consistently great experience.

The Pegasus Arms is our band's favourite stomping ground and a place we consider our home. We have played here countless times, in all conditions, with no troubles. We recommend the German wheat beer as well as the chicken burger. And if you want to practice your French, ask for Hugo. The Pegasus Arms has grown to be a great attraction for live bands including Al Park and A girl from Mars. We look forward to many more awesome times with these guys!

Great local pub with a bit of a British vibe going on. Great tucker, and even a few curveball alternatives thrown in to mix up the usual pub fare. Come for the beer and food, stay for the trivia, but perhaps leave before cocktail hour, only weak point in an otherwise impregnable fortress of pubbery.

This awesome establishment is in very close proximity to work so have been going here for years. After change of ownership a few years ago this place has gone from strength to strength. In my experience staff have always been very knowledgeable about what they're pouring, there is a decent range of beers on tap and the bar snacks menu is well utilised by our group as it is so good. This is a warm and cosy bar in winter, and with the new outdoor area has even more room for summer beers now as well! I would highly recommend this establishment for after work drinks, or middle of the afternoon drinks in the sun!
