A.A nice Japanese noodle place.
You will really like this noodle shop IF you like 家系ラーメン(ie kei ramen noodles) with thick noodle soup.
Shoyu ramen (soy sauce soup based noodles) was even a bit rich for me as I like clear soup noodles.
This is totally depending on what sort of Japanese noodles you like.
Fantastic service with a free bowl of rice & some garnish🍚
S.Disappointed as my noodles are not cooked. Probably because the restaurant is busy during lunch time. Had a stomachache afterwards. Won’t come back again.
C.Had the super spicy ramen. Wasn't really super spicy. Wish I had read previous reviews to have known to ask for the vegetable broth to water it down as it was so thick it was unpleasant to drink. Just tasted thick like porky starch water. My daughter's kids shoyu was so strongly flavoured with leek she couldn't drink it. There wasn't really anything I could say about the service as the staff were too busy so took a while. All in all for me I dont think we'll go back
E.I can tell you guys it is the best best best ramen in town. But fyi the soup of the ramen is strong and rich of flavor, some people may feel it is too heavy.
I am really surprised by the chashu cause it is the chashu which is closest to a real Japan style. Also the ramen egg here is definitely a winner, most of the ramen egg I had before has not flavor. But the ramen egg here is rich of flavor and soft inside.
Another thing I like in this ramen are leek, which is really match with the food and add a different textures and flavor. Love it!
I highly recommen all the ramen lover come here to have a try, it will surprise you.
C.Really authentic ramen. Probably the best in town. Soup is very rich but can be diluted with broth which you can ask for IF you want to eat the soup. Ramen soup is not for one to eat anyway, but I always dilute it because the soup is just so nicely cooked. I now only want to eat ramen here, nowhere else! Highly recommend this place to anyone who is after rich, tasty ramen.
R.Didn't know about having to add the vege broth so we had very salty Ramen and Tsukimen. The noodles were great with lots of meat and veges. We should have checked the reviews and asked for the free vege broth. Customer service was great and it was a good place to have lunch on a rainy day.

H.Never get disappointed with Fumetan! I don't know why, their Orion beer is just unreal. So good. It's also very enjoyable to find takoyaki man at weekends. His takoyaki and fried chicken wing (tebasaki) are just too good with the 🍺.

J.Best Ramen ever! A bit of a hidden treasure, the broth is a bit thick, I like it this way bursting of flavour although if you find it thick staff are happy to dilute it, I'm sure this is how traditionally ramen should be prepared.
Was a bit of wait, although when I arrived as it open there was already lots of people waiting, as soon as the doors opened the restaurant was full! So that's saying something. Will deffinately return!
T.We love this place. Fab ramen, lovely staff & a great quirky wee place. The wait for food is a tad long if they’re busy but always worth it so no stars lost for that. The Tonkatsu Ramen is our fave.

V.Best ramen in Christchurch where all the Asian food are watered down and missing the pungent strong flavor! Their broth still have lots of kick, but of course you can water it down with their free vegs broth if it's too strong/salty

E.Good selection of authentic ramen in a music themed restaurant (though I've not heard anybody play any of the instruments yet). The broths are pretty strong so consider watering them down with a free watery vegetable broth.

l.I always eat Ramen when I travel overseas, especially in Japan. The tonkotsu pork broth they served here is as delicious as Japan (just that the chasu in Japan is really soft and melts instantly in mout). Im drooling as I type this review.
And I believe the people working in the shop are Japanese too, because they greet and say thank you (in Japanese) as customers enter/exit the shop. 100% japanese authentic!

J.Very delicious misoramen and friendly, excellent staff but the price is astronomical for a bowl of noodle soup. Plenty of similar options available nearby for alot less money. Hopefully the price will become competitive so I can return to try the rest of the menu. $24 for chashu ramen with kae-dama is too much. Good luck for the future.

S.I love Fumetan! And most of my Japanese friends have the same impression of this shop. I strongly recommend this shop for all Ramen lovers in CHCH especially "Tsukemen". Try it if you haven't yet!
E.The best ramen I ever had. Went after lunchtime so I was the only one there. Very friendly owners gave me extra rice for free. I took the vegetarian bowl and dumplings. Would recommend if you want to experience Japanese food other that sushi ;)
S.Good and wide selection of foods, of course centralized around Ramen, but still a large variety. The food is nicely priced. There's a guitar and piano available for people to play. The staff were awesome as well. Its not a big place, but it's nice.

There is two staff but the man in the kitchen didnt even said welcome(greeting word) to us when we came in and saw us.
Wish they had a changing table in the toilet.

T.Listen, Everytime I eat the ramen from this place I fall asleep on the couch. I will return asap when I wake up. authentic tom Katsu, really hits the spot. Going during lunch for free rice, although you may fall asleep at work. All guests I have taken seem appeased at them.

J.Cosy, friendly, great place to go with friends to talk and eat. Excellent options for meat-lovers, vegetarian and vegan eaters. Delicious layered broth with a variety of fresh and well-flavoured toppigs, all at a reasonable price. Kid's options looked good. BYO wine, but there's also a good selection of beer, tea and other drinks (umeshu) available.
