An excellent beautifully flavoured dinner and great service. The Cabernet blended wine I had glass of was just a little sharp. I suspect that it needed more time to mature. I forget the name but it was the only Cabernet blend on the wine list. However, I am not complaining but just bringing my opinion to the restaurants attention. Burmese food has quite a unique Asian flavour and composition. It's thoroughly enjoyable.

This place made me cry! The food was some of the most delicious I have ever had in a restaurant of this standing! I even had the ceviche and crumbly fish….. loved them both and I’m not a fish eater. Make yourself happy and go there for dinner

Tasty food. Delicate sauces accompany tender, soft cuts of meat and they don't overpower the flavour of the meat. Fresh salads with finely sliced vegetables and light dressings. We had a variety of small dishes to share. And the semolina cake. Very fine semolina and just enough sweetness. Delicious. We will be back.

Burmese restaurant in Christchurch, definitely surprised by that and decided to give it a look in after reading the reviews. The dishes were different and tasted nice, the only dish which I'm not a fan of is the Table Salad. The portions are quite small which is a downer given the price. Thus we had to order 5 dishes between 3 adults and rice separately.

Wonderful variety of flavours and choice of different dishes. Food was first class. Service excellent. As a table of four we chose two dishes each Ab no complaints but would personally have liked dishes to arrive two at a time with 10 minute intervals so that I could have truly savoured flavours and not rushed. However, ab no complaints. Would totally recommend.

Come here if you want authentic food that is NOT sweet. This was our first time having Burmese food. Can't wait to visit. Such fresh ingredients and the vegetarian dishes were world class. Can't recommend the restaurant enough.

Holy cow! I had never had Burmese food before and this was an amazing way to be introduced to their cuisine. The menu had many options. The portions are small and made for sharing so you can get many different flavors all in one meal. The staff was friendly and service was good. Thanks so much.

So good! We ordered the tea salad, lamb curry, and fish curry. They accidentally brought us the pork curry and I’m glad they did because it was amazing. Everyone, order the pork curry! Amazing taste and so tender. Other dishes were very good as well, but the pork was the star.

We had never thought we could find the authentic taste of Burmese food in Christchurch but we did when we visited here. The curries were amazing with the great flavours of Myanmar. Wish we could have had multiple smaller dishes so we could have ordered the entire menu to try it all. We will be back again to try more. I recommend this place for Dinner for small & large groups

Good tasty food and very nice and delicious dishes. The dishes come in rather small sizes so you need to order several dishes for a decent quantity. We ordered one nibbly bites as a starter a soup to share then we had vegetables in a tempura manner. We also ordered pork dumplings and à dish of fish filet with coriander sauce. Two rices for the side. We finished with the tamarind sorbet and semoline and coconut cake. The check was quite high (92$nz for two) but it was worth it ☺️😊

Our evening at Rangoon Ruby was a delightful reminder of the tastes and smells of Myanmar food from the 3 years we lived there. The food is exotic, firmly within the SE Asian tradition, full of subtle and interesting flavours. The service was wonderful, friendly efficient and helpful in navigating the menu. I am pleased that the menu offerings (a part from dessert) have not strayed from their Myanmar roots to cater for NZ tastes. Thanks for a great evening that reminded me of the warmth of the people that we so loved when we lived there.

Food and service is ok I would give it a 3.5 if there was an option of half stars. It seems to depend on who the chef is on some nights are better than others definitely. A tad pricey two as the meals are rather small and it is suggested you have two per person and you do need too.

I had a lovely meal here. Recommended! I had a fresh tasting shredded green papaya dressed with lemon, dried shrimp, shallot oil & roasted pea flour; lovely squid sauteed with basil, chilli & onion; and a lamb curry, lemongrass, ginger & curry leaves with steamed rice. The dessert of tamarind sorbet, chilli topped with fresh feijoa & quince was a lovely finalé.
