Good place to sit back and enjoy Indian cuisine.. their lamb was not halal.. tried few of the chiken starts, found them a bit salty … same with their curries.. place is nice also staff was very helpful but food was average

The best indian restaurant I have found in Christchurch. All their food taste so authentic. Full of flavors and no dish tastes the same at all. Great portions of meat and lots of it too. Naan bread is flavorful and huge. I always get hot spicy. So good. Madras is my Favorite dish here!.

Absolutely fantastic, Samairaz is one of the best restaurants in Christchurch and definitely the best Indian restaurant in the city. The service they provide is genuinely welcoming and friendly, they always open the door for you when you arrive and leave, they bring you papadums as soon as you sit down so you’re eating good food as soon as you get there. The curry is really good, lots of great flavours and textures. They also pride themselves on being allergy friendly which is a great bonus for people who have them

I came here for my birthday and had a wonderful time! The food is exquisite and the service is outstanding! Personalised messages were written on our takeaway containers which made it even more special. I cannot wait to come back and work my way through the menu!!!

Celebrated our anniversary here and couldn’t have asked for better quality service & food! The staff really strive to make your dining experience here as pleasant as possible and it does not go unnoticed! Everything was absolutely delicious and they were VERY generous with the proportions! This was the only photo we snapped before diving into it 😅 But can’t wait to try everything else on the menu!

Absolutely amazing! Have always been a Coriander’s fan but this will now be our go to! Customer service was absolutely excellent, friendly, funny and was very professional, pushed the chair in for us, opened the door for us etc… Everyone was happy with their curry, Palak Paneer was top notch! Naan was light and fluffy.

I don't know if our experience was typical, or if staff were having an off evening at the time of our visit. After being seated, we were not offered menus, and had to find our own. Food service was overall quite slow, we were there for over 40 minutes before our main curries arrived. Once it finally arrived, the naan seemed under-cooked. The curries, though flavoursome enough, lacked main ingredients (lamb) in one example, onions and peppers in another. Update: Management responded, acknowledging that our experience was not up to usual standard, due to covid-related staffing difficulties. Under the circumstances, elected to show our support (refund not necessary) added star for their gesture and good will.

Fantastic authentic Indian experience. Sid was an amazing host and clearly takes pride in the cuisine and food he offers. Chicken tandoori as a main was flavoursome!! Topped it off with a chicken tikka main dish with the best naan in town. Hands down the best Indian food we've experienced.

Went there with a group of 18 adults and 5 children for dinner, so we chose the set menu. OMG. The best decision ever. The children demolished the butter chicken (and the ice cream). The adults? Could not have been any happier with everything. The lamb chop was the winner appetizer (I watched someone ate FOUR of them!). The chicken tikka, samosa and even the onion bhaji were a big hit (especially with the tamarind sauce). All of the mains were super good. My husband was very impressed by the vegetarian jalfreezi (says a LOT for a red meat lover Kiwi 😁). We went there on Thu night, and by Fri afternoon people were still talking about the dinner. Everyone left work with a happy face that day. So, thank you, Sid & Team. Sorry the kids were such a crazy bunch! 🙈 Highly recommended. Obvs, we shall return! (minus the kids 😬).

I grew up eating Indian food passed over the fence , my love of Indian food had the elders laughing saying that I was an Indian in my past life ;) I live a stones throw from Samairaz so I’ve dined in and grabbed takeaways more times than I can count . First , let’s talk about the food …. its always great , I mean always !!!! Second , let’s talk about the service . I can’t really put into words how amazing Sid & Karim are , they absolutely nail everything that customer service should be . They are professional , personable , they go out of their way to make everyone feel like nothing is too much trouble . It’s like you’ve stepped into your home , but it smells so much better :) Sid , Karim & team , thank you for everything you do . We know you all put huge hours and effort in . I’m sure I speak on behalf of Preston’s when I say you guys are such an asset to our community . Thanks for everything.

Got a takeaway (chicken korma and 1 garlic naan bread. It was delicious!!! The portions are generous and the naan bread was massive 🤤! Didn't realize the curry came with those chips in the paper bag- so that was a nice surprise. Staff were nice and friendly. Would definitely recommend!

I organised my brother’s Wedding at Samairaz last year, service and hospitality was incredibly good. It was the first time they had this big gathering and it really went well and outstanding function.

We went here this evening with an expired voucher and we were welcomed like we’d been there every week since the restaurant opened. The ambience was luxurious and lovely and warm and the attentive nature by staff was truly exceptional. We enjoyed a shared platter and that was amazing - shared a main and a bread. I saw the 5 Star ratings(277 of them) and thought i need to see what this place is all about. A 5 star rating sets some very high expectation before I even entered.... WOW! if i could have given 10 star rating I would have. The services was some of the best i have had in any restaurant. Food and service was fantastic. Friday and Saturday evening you need to book. We just called in without a booking but got a table for an hour which was ample time for us. Very friendly staff, great selection of wine, food was divine. I would highly recommend and next time we will book.

Went for a family dinner tonight. Highly recommended. The staff were amazing and had that extra touch. The chairs were very comfy, but a bit heavy - but when the staff help seat you and push your chair in - it's a real treat. The food was exceptional, onion barjis were huge and tasty. What should I say about this place, amazing food, 👏, pretty good ambience and outstanding hosts with their impeccable hospitality standards. From entering the premises to taking a leave, everything spot on. The most Interesting part, the owners are the servers and the kind of service they give is not less than a 5star. Wow... I love everything about this little gem in Prestons-Christchurch. Went there on a Tuesday night at 7:45pm. It was busy but they had room for us! We got our first takeaway from here a few weeks ago. The BEST curry in all of New Zealand, and we have travelled and tried lots both North and South. We now drive 1.5 hours just to get a curry from here. Staff are always friendly and polite, would happily recommend to anyone.

Discovered this place in the old Google and was curious about the consistent 5-star rating. Gave it a go and was not disappointed. Food was amazing. Such interesting flavours. My favourite part is that they obviously took a risk and added traditional, non-typical flavours and it paid off. Another good thing is the people. They were very knowledgeable of their dishes. This restaurant has constant 5 Stars for a reason. - service; consistently outstanding - meal; generous portions, main dishes swimming in thick perfectly seasoned sauce, spiced dishes that send you straight to India, and not to forget the tantalizing flavours of their Tandoori. The love and care put into their service and the food they passionately craft is sensational each and every time. The food is fast, fresh and filled with the fabulous flavours one would expect to find from the glorious cuisine of the Indian Subcontinent. The restaurant itself is gorgeously styled and the tables are gracefully set up. Their menu is replete with tantalising offerings and their beverage assortment will quench any thirst craving. A refreshing lassi sure does hit the spot and is a must! One thing I believe would absolutely complement and make their mains selection complete would be the offering of a selection of goat dishes. But this is just me perhaps being extraordinarily picky. The ambience is very inviting and your patrons and regulars contribute to the welcoming vibe of your inviting establishment. A flawless, impeccable performance! And so close to home. I am truly blessed! All the very best for 2021 Team Samairaz!

The best Indian in Christchurch! The food is outstanding and the owner's and their staff are exceptional. They are so helpful and attentive going above and beyond. Googled best dinner near me and this place popped up - I was very curious about the consistent 5 star rating and it was only 8 minutes drive away so figured what the heck, may as well give it a go. I'd just been to the dentist in Nelson so half my face was still numb but what I could manage to eat just blew my socks off. Best gulab jamun I've ever had, and believe me, I've eaten a lot. Same goes for the garlic naan. And the next day when I got home to QT, I finished off the curry & rice and it was...sublime. My housemates & I just went to Electric Avenue in CHCH and I convinced them that this was the place to go for dinner. We arrived late for our reservation and the restaurant had had a mad rush (Friday night) when we did turn up. Service was excellent, absolutely excellent: incredibly polite and helpful and accomodating, and the food was fast in addition to being delicious, as expected.
