K.One of the best in Christchurch! Yummy food, loved their garlic sauce. Takes long time to prepare food, so make sure to have enough time to wait. Nice and clean inside. Only one suggestion- please change the door lock of your toilet! You can open the door from outside, not inside.
A.It’s ok. Fish (try something else) was very bland and small tarakihi. Not worth 23$.
Other dishes were ok. We had burgers, chips , dolma, beef on naan. Once a visit only.

I'm a huge fan of grilled food. First time I visited this shop and I took half grilled chicken to takeaway. The flavours were very authentic with the authentic style of cooking. The chicken was served with 2 side sauces with yummy flavours and the service was kind and polite.
Will be back!
s.Located on the riccaton road complex near the rails. A gift number of parking available right at the door of this restaurant. We were there at 5.30pm. It was very quiet and our orders were put through very quickly. They have high chairs and staff are very friendly to children, they have some car toys for kids to take home even. The food is great love their dipping, we had whole chicken with 2 sides and lamb shish kebab meal. Portion is huge and super tasty. We will definitely be going back!

S.I mean the food was decent, chicken tasted nice but we felt as if we were getting a little ripped of money wise since they would charge or overcharge for everything, for example you have to pay for the takeaway boxes and you have to pay $4.50 for a small coke

W.100% recommend this place , Sara and staff are so nice , they even let me have most beautiful salad instead of just chips with my delicious chicken wrap /kebab . My husband had the lamb skewers with cucumber and salsa , tasty salad .and delicious rice , so good to have healthy and super tasty option ( not too always have greasy fries as a side). The restaurant really clean nice decor Comfy booths , new amd nice , also chefs wear gloves , hygienic !
We had flight from syd, was nice to sit down to a Tasty meal that not too pricey after long day !

The padded seats, however, are in the running for "world's most uncomfortable". Time to replace them.
U.I really want to like this place. But I have been overcharged, told they were too busy for phone orders and walked past to see them empty, and generally ignored. The food is good but oh the service....Update since simos took over, even with the same staff their service has lifted and the food is still great. They now deserve at least 4 stars :)
S.I had been here for more than 3 times for dinner. The food which cooked in Arabic style was so delicious. Everything in KOC was good grilled chicken, fish and especially the shawarma served along with chips is yummy, (will make watering our mouth). If you really want to know the taste of Middle East you must visit King of Charcoal and have some food. You will never regret once you visit KOC
C.Came here for dinner - lots of choices for meals. The sauces provided with most of the meals were really good. The chicken shawarma was excellent. Only downside was that it took quite a long time for the food to come out.
B.22nd Feb 2020 - I ordered peri peri chicken 🐔 burger 🍔, which was recommended by the lady owner. It was delicious and they use real chicken breast meat, and not chicken pattie.
The burger goes well with fries and the dipping sauce was fantastic as well. However, it might not be everyone's cup of tea as it is very garlicky. Anyway, I highly recommend it. Also, the interior layout is now better and feels a bit classy.
15 Dec 2018 - We were contemplating whether to try this King of Charcoal or eat something else in the Westfield mall. We ended up choosing this as I want to try their food (looks delicious and appetizing) as I drove pass this shop many times. Anyway, we glad that we made the right choice 😁👍.
Parking was a slight problem as there's only limited car parks in front of their shop and the street parking has time restrictions (for bus lane).
I ordered three dishes; a Lamb 🐏 Shawarma (similar to souvlaki), [charcoal] chicken 🐔 snack box and [chicken 🐔] nuggets snack box. All these dishes come with fries. The fries for the snack boxes were topped with melted cheese and gravy, while the lamb 🐏 shawarma came with salad and fries sprinklered with delicious seasoning and also served with a chilli hot sauce and garlic sauce.
The charcoal chicken 🐔 from the snack box tasted mild charcoal flavor (i.e. not strong charcoal taste) but both snack boxes were coated with melted cheese 🧀 (yummy 😋).
The lamb shawarma was good; cut into smaller bite size pieces. They use lamb pieces and it was moist (i.e. not dry) and tender.
This is a non licensed eatery and you can only order non alcoholic drinks. There is a limited outdoor area and smoking 🚬 is [definitely] not inside the building.
Have onsite and street parking 🅿.
They accept cash, EFTPOS and credit card payments (by the way, Paywave is not available), for those who want to know.
Friendly staff.
Would I go back? Yes 😏.
Would I recommend? Yes 😊.
Food: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't go wrong with charcoal dishes. Tasty and delicious 😋.
Ambience: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Nice and clean interior deco.
Price: ⭐⭐⭐ out of 5. Reasonable priced.

E.A weird mix of great food and poor food. The meat is super tasty but brought down by cheap salads and sides. Service is extraordinarily slow and prone to errors. Excellent selection of foods and reasonable prices. Just be careful what you pick.
P.Food quite good - souvalakis and a wrap and not too long waiting. Will be back once you get rid of the single plastic bags (thought these were outlawed?), polystyrene packaging and plastic forks. There's enough alternatives out there now, please catch up.
