Very lovely outdoor dining area. Perfect for families with the playground and bouncy castle. Food was a bit slow and came out at different times which was a bit weird and our 8 year old son had to wait ages for his wedges and we had already finished our meals. But on a nice fine sunny day it was great.

Want a fantastic venue. Large grassed outdoor area great for dogs (and kids I guess) on a nice day. Great menu and speedy service even though it was quite busy when we went. Our visit was a Saturday afternoon and they had live music which was great. They even have a great vaccine pass system! We will certainly be back.

Best pub in Canterbury. Awesome garden/lawn area which is excellent for kids. Bouncy castles and live music on Sunday afternoons. Highly recommend it but do book ahead as it can get super busy. It's popular!

Fabulous food and can't beat the beer garden! Had the best Vege salad on Tuesday, sooo delicious. Enjoyed it with a nice Pinot Gris in the beer garden on a Sunny day plus, Dog friendly too. Consistently fabulous here!

What a find! We stopped at the Tai Tapu in the late afternoon, not sure if the restaurant would be open to serve at that hour. We were the only people there, the waitress was delightful...so welcoming and the food was divine! And the kitchen performed magic! My daughter and I shared the prawn and scallop appetizer which was cooked in the most delicious garlic, lemongrass, cream sauce...almost like a chowder (which I was tempted to order!). I had a side of garlic bread which came with extra garlic butter and basil pesto...too good ! My daughter ordered the chicken salad which was so yummy with heaps of chicken and brie (or camembert), avocado and parsnip crisps. We highly recommend this gem of a pub located in a gorgeous setting!

The night I was there there was a wedding on in another part of the venue. Having said that, bookings for weddings don't come in the day before the function. There should have been adequate staff to cope with the function and the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't overly busy, yet it took over an hour to get our meals. Also the lemon lime and bitters tasted horrible. The replacement was marginally better but still tasted a bit soapy

We found the food selection large enough for everyone to be happy but the service extremely slow. They were very busy but maybe more staff needed. Half an hour wait for drinks and 2hr plus wait for food. Luckily we were with a large group so we could chat but the children were famished and cranky. Next time we would choose a week day not a Sunday

Such an amazing gem of a pub. Menu is great and cooked with care. Great spot to take the kids on the weekend. Staff are all well drilled and the place is clean ad tables look like they're cleared pretty quick and we visited on a Sunday. Beer prices good.

We visit the Tai Tapu pub fairly regularly for family events. We caught up there on Wednesdays and enjoyed the burger and a drink for $23.00. Food was great, service was great and we had a great evening.

It is a wonderful place to have an event. Total magic. The staff were professional and hilarious and the hroumfs were well kept and beautiful. Really good parking, even for a wedding. A very romantic and gorgeous place to be, Staff 5/5 food 3/5 Ambience 5/5 Grounds 5/5 And I'm even thinking of having my wedding here! The only problem was the food and that is easy to fix.

My wife and I went for a drive last Sunday and happened to drive past the Tai Tapu hotel and thought we would drop in for a late lunch. I had always thought it was just a country pub but was amazed to find they have this outdoor area out the back thats awesome: huge lawn area thats sheltered from the wind, sunny, has heaps of picnic tables, and even a playground for kids. The day we were there they also had a guy playing guitar who as pretty good. It was pretty busy but food arrived quickly and was reeeeally good: I had the Mexican Chicken Salad and it was excellent and not badly priced. All up, thoroughly recommend it for an afternoon in the sun!

This is a very popular place. I come here when my group of biker friends decide to stop and imbibe. The tavern is in a very lush rural setting. The wait staff are friendly and accommodating. When we ride thru here or close to, we always stop by.

We were there on a Tuesday night for a family gathering. Hardly any one there. I would have expected the service to be a lot better. No cutlery, paper towels or plates provided. Had to ask twice, staff were unfriendly. Food was good but expensive as was the wine. $22 for a 250ml glass. Its has a really good outside area.

Myself part of a group of 13 visited the pub to celebrate a birthday. I ordered the oven baked cod, the portion size was very generous, the fish cooked to perfection and the roast potatoes were a delight. Everyone else was happy with their orders regarding size and flavors. I would definitely recommend to others and return myself. I dropped 1 star as the service staff was lovely, helpful but a smidge green.

What wonderful experience the food was superb. My Wife & I had the open Steak Sandwich special for the day. Our Son had the baked Blue Cod. The presentation & taste would rival any Restaurant we have been to. Operating under Level 2 on a Sunday so pleased we booked it was busy. The young lady who looked after us was great all smiles & very efficient . Great spot & first time visit , but not the last. Great work from the kitchen & all the staff.

Had the best Blue Cod in my lifetime. Service is excellent. This is not a drive by. It doesn't look big on the outside. It's like a tardis. The gardens are awesome. Can't recommend enough. Will definitely be a destination.

We appreciated the arrangement to have us pick- up and return to the Lodge without extra charge. Meat (pork ribs ) was tender and deliciously cooked, smoked chicken pizza and the seafood bowl were done perfectly; bonus was the fresh and relaxing ambiance outside the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. We will definitely recommend to friends.

He has allergies with tomatoes so asked to get no tomatoes. I ordered the beef burger without cheese as I'm lactose intolerant and no betroot as I don't like it which the waitress noted down, however, when we were served our delicious meals, he had tomatoes in his salad and I had cheese and betroot in mine.

Had dinner here, first time and was highly impressed with the service, the food and the space itself. Waitress was very attentive and helped with menu decisions. Drinks were promptly restocked when needed. Ordered calamari and flat bread/dips to start. Beautiful hot crunchy calamari with delicious dipping sauce and lemon wedge on side, flat bread piping hot served with 3 different dips. Mains were ribeye with salad and fries which the steak was cooked to perfection with a creamy rich mushroom sauce. Partner ordered pork belly with kumara gratin and fries and blue cheese sauce on the side. Pork skin beautifully crackled and moist belly on the underside. Both mains around $32-36 each. No room for dessert 😊 Great atmosphere, very pleasant evening. Pics are of 2nd visit..just as good as the first 😉
