Visited this pub restaurant for quick drinks as we stayed at the next door “Bealey quarter” motel. Friendly stuff & loved atmosphere. Just had a few tap beers & didn’t try any food, so my rating is for drinks & general service only. Good decor throughout inside.

Have just held our daughter’s 21st here. What a fantastic venue to hold a private function. The room was excellent, the catering was superb and Emma and the staff were accommodating at all times. We had so many positive comments on the night. Would definitely recommend.

We went for lunch yesterday on that warm sunny day and it was nice to have the option to choose to either sit inside or out in the sun. The meal was delicious and I left feeling very fall! Stuff very friendly and polite. I absolutely love the deco in the restaurant

We held our wedding party at the Bealey out in the function room and had one of the most memorable nights of our life there. The staff were brilliant, the food fantastic and the event space was generous and served it’s function well. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to host a party.

We went for a family meal, the bealy felt alive, the staff were prompt, even though it was 7 o'clock. Food was delicious. Not a huge menu but I felt it gave a broad enough choice. The people who had steaks were happy the people who had hamburger where happy wormed lamb salad

From the awesome caring staff (Tash, Mia and Sophie - you did want a memorable one Tash!), to the warm and homely room and of course the amazing food and beverages - we can highly recommend. We had a fabulous awards night/end of year dinner for our team. A delicious 3 course meal, great service and the function room was nice and warm as we arrived. the space was fantastic with room for pre and post dinner drinks and then nearly 50 of us seated for the meal, awards and a fund raising auction. The sound system was great too. Great service and very reasonable price, a fabulous evening enjoyed by all.

Pretty good place to eat, is a big ale house and has a restaurant part, bar part and outdoor areas on both sides. All modern, needs to be a little bit warmer. The restaurant was empty but our food took quite a long time to come out. Was okay but my wrap had too much dressing in it a part from that it was nice. Outdoor area was great in the sun!! Will probably come back again to try a streak instead

I would often hear good things about All Stars on Bealy while driving Uber, so decided to give it a try for as a celebration of the 22nd anniversary of the first date with the love of my life. Free onsite parking is slightly limited, although we did find a park without any issues. On arrival we got a lovely welcome from friendly and accommodating staff – which is always a great impression. The roaring fire in the corner is lovely, warm and homely and being able to see into the kitchen gives confidence. There were some large groups when we arrived, so we had to wait around 20 minutes for a table. Personally, not being a Speights fan, I was disappointed with the beers on tap, but this is really not very fair as a 6 beer selection for draft could hardly be described as “lacking” We had plenty of time to go through the menu before being seated, and were impressed by the selection. The meat platter looked fascinating, and is something we want to try the next time we return (and we WILL be back). This time round however we went for Baby Back Ribs, Pork and a Lamb Shank. On ordering – the wait staff proactively suggested a menu replacement that offered the same meal at better value, which is hugely impressive! After ordering the food came quickly – out starter was stuffed mushrooms which were totally delicious. Nicely cooked and lovely gooey cheese. Really enjoyable. The lamb shank was very very tender – with the meat falling from the bone. A nicely tangy gravy went well with the mashed spud and fresh vege. Something that I wouldn’t hesitate to try again. Baby Back ribs – like the lamb were tender as well as being wonderfully meaty. (i.e lots of flesh on the bone). Just as good as any ribs I have had anywhere. The pork – this was what I would describe as “competent”. Nothing wrong with it, and you wouldn’t be disappointed, however in comparison to the lamb – not as good. Although the helpings didn’t look big, we weren’t able to finish everything so I would have to admit that serving sizes were pretty decent. All in all – a pretty wonderful experience and a place that I will definitely being returning to. Also a very special word of thanks to all the staff – service was friendly, proactive and unobtrusive. Exactly the way that we like it. Very well done to the entire team!

Staying in Christchurch at a motel a short walk to The Bealey.We went back 3 times as the staff were friendly especially a young lady working the evening of the 26th September.Unfortunately didn't get her name.I think she was Maori. Excellent service very genuine. The food was delicious. Highly recommend for good kiwi meal.The version was outstanding.

Really great place! The food was great and so was the atmosphere. However, the thing that sold it was the staff. We had a tired grizzly toddler at the table but the wait staff happily brought over some toys and sat and spent some time playing and interacting so mum could get a few minutes to eat her meal. Much appreciated! Great service!!

This place has some sort of mysterious effect. The more ofte you go there, the less you like it. First the pros: Pancakes are amazing. The beer is cheap. Nice "old pub" flair. Steaks are good. Telly with sports events. Now the cons: staff is not very friendly (not all of them, but some). Got a dirty spoon (forgot to bring a spoon, I asked for one, the waitress took a used one from an other costumer, rinsed it a bit and handed it to mee) and a moldy glass. I was there 12 times in total and 4 times they forgot something I ordered. Besides the steaks dinner wasn't recommendable. If you are just looking for a quick beer, thats the place to go. Besides that I probably would choose another location.

Delicious breakfast, we had to go twice! Visited 29/06 and 30/06 and the food was so so yum (in particular the 29/06 - the chef and barista both did a great job). Super large portions and fresh produce. The coffee was also perfectly made and service was great. Thanks guys!

Visited for first time with some friends from Auckland, we all had the ribs, they were impressed with the quality of food and service. Best service from bar tender and waitress. We felt treated like sultans. Ribs were delicious, meat succulent falling off the bone and creamy mashed potato. great value for money. Venue was warm, super clean, and inviting. Lot's of TV screens if one wanted to watch sport.

Enjoyed my 2 night stay, very friendly staff & a Top Notch Restaurant with very good service & smiling staff . The rooms are comfortable with the lights in the wrong places & the bathroom shower has no exhaust & no holders . Definitely the place for amazing food that makes you warm and fuzzy inside! The garlic bread with cream cheese and sweet chilli is amazing! The steak was next level amazing and the menu is well priced. Highly highly recommend!!! Book a table in advance to make sure you get a seat when you pop in. Will be visiting again and again!

Nice place with friendly staff. We had the garlic loaf and the mixed grill platter, the garlic loaf was nice and fresh with not too much butter, the mixed platter was OK but not fantastic. Still a nice place to go to.

The Speights Bealy has a nice environment with varnished wooden tables and a wooden floor. They serve a really nice big breakfast and can cater for large numbers. There is also a room where you can hold a private function. Parking is normally not an issue however if they are busy it is likely that you may have to look at the street. This ale house is also a TAB and follows major sporting events on a big screen TV. Worthy of trying out to see what you think.

Would not have thought of this place as a breakfast option but I will definitely consider The Bealey again. The Bealey presented me with the best fish and chips I have found so far in my quest for the best! My entree was the crab and hot cheese sauce and it was delicious. I had a most enjoyable birthday dinner, and The Bealey shouted me my favourite dessert, an affogato! The waiting staff were charming, attentive and efficient. I'll be happy to return.

Excellent food. We had the roast beef for 2. It was actually a steak, but cooked beautifully. Very tender & the mash & veg were all great as well. Atmosphere was lovely. The dinning room was separate from the bar, which I like, also there wasn't any loud music.

We had a group of 10 on a Sunday evening. The place was steady, several similar groups arrived during the evening. The menu was OK (pretty standard fare, not a huge range but good choices). The service was quick, the food arrived within a suitable time and was very nice. Staff were friendly and efficient. The decor was average, quite a few TV screens with sports visible but not at an intrusive volume, we could still talk without raising our voices; the room was a nice temperature. None of us needed desserts, quite a few of us didn't manage to finish our mains :-). Prices were average.

Visiting Christchurch with the relatives from the uk. Wasn’t sure where to go for dinner, drove past this establishment so googled the reviews and thought it was worth giving it a shot. I don’t normally like going to places I have never tried for dinner as mostly I’m disappointed, but this time I was really happy that i booked a table here. The food was lovely, very fresh and yummy. The service was professional, quick and friendly. The UK in laws were also very impressed with their dinners too, even my fussy 5 year old ate all of his up l with no complaints what so ever. Would definitely come again when we are back down from Nelson.

Was staying at a motel close by and thought I would give this place a shot... And I wasn't disappointed. Customer service was spot on. The food portions were great and the quality of all the dishes we ordered was top notch. I got the Venison Medallions with Parsnip mash and veggies. The venison was cooked perfectly, as was the veggies, and the mash was very tasty.

Weird reception. Asked if I was 'here for the buffet?' I don't know I said, I haven't seen the menu. Stare. Still staring. Genuinely surprised that I wanted to know what both the menu and buffet consisted of. Turns out the buffet was really disappointing, especially given the price, whereas the menu order breakfasts were hot, good variety and balance, and much better value. Never got the second coffee I asked for, and little gesture from the staff when we paid & left. Wouldn't be on my list for going again in a hurry. But nice ambience.

Went here a couple of weeks ago for the all you can eat breakfast. The food was okay, but sadly I found that most of it was quite cold. The range of good was alright but not much variety, ie, the only eggs available were scrambled. The pancakes didn't have many toppings to choose from - only maple syrup. All up, I probably wouldn't go back for this as $19.50 seems a bit steep for what was available

The meal was beautiful, the waiter was excellent. The main meal was presented in an orignal way. We waited for 40 minutes for our deserts. The waiter came and apologised for the delay, The ginger and fig desert was well worth the wait. The restaurant has a great staf very clean with a lovely atmosphere. We will recommend The Bealey to others and will be going back ourselves.

Hard to find a car park here. Overrated bar. Probably great for sport lovers but generic pub/bar for those who don't. Meals come in large portions which also reflect by the prices. Beers from Speight's do echo its Southern root. Recommended once for all but will probably not be my regular joint.

Try the food here its beautiful!!! We got two different platters, I recommend trying these because they're delicious!!! If you're a seafood lover you will not be disappointed with the Kaikoura Brezze platter...Even the hot chips are delicious if that's all you want with a nice cold refreshment.

We really enjoyed The Bealey. Very busy on the Friday night we went and it was lucky that we had booked earlier in the day. Service was friendly and helpful. Meals were excellent and the menu had good variety with well thought out choices available. We enjoyed a very nice chicken and sweetcorn soup to begin followed by a shared platter with lamb kebab, teriaki steak, pesto chicken, pate, chorizo, olives and lots more. At $26 a head it is excellent value and quality. Deserts were equally good. The Bealey is well worth a visit.

I've been here several times amd with one exception my visits have been good. It delivers what you would expect of a pub restaurant. Good square meals at a reasonable price. Family friendly or for me on business, a quick meal at the end of the day. It's obviously a popular place as the bar was heaving!

They do awesome pub food and great drinks. They also do an awesome quiz night on a Monday which usually has a big turn out. The staff there are great very friendly and always trying to do their best even when they are flat out busy.
