This is a very nice place and very attentive service and recommendable. Post covid quite a few places in nz have improved with their service and catering. We tried this place first time and the restaurant wasn’t very busy. The manager was very nice and explained. The food is commendable that it does have some sort of mexican-ness to it. I’d say much better than what you get at everyday Mexican places.. We had mango chicken nachos large 28$: the corn chips were good and so was the salsa. The guacamole although felt like it was dished out of a can / supermarket jar. The serving was small compared to the price. Then we had quesadilla cheese 14$. This was ok. And worth the price; what you get at any palce. Chicken Enchilada 31$ was also an ok serve. But it was bland. However with the hot sauce it tasted much better. Fajitas (fish and prawn) 59$. I think overpriced but my partner didn’t think so. it does feed 2 people though. Try once if never had before. And lastly churros 12$ which are certainly recommended. The chocolate was nice and creamy rather than something out of a sauce bottle. Overall certainly worth visiting once. I feel though almost all the items are supermarket sourced rather than in hand made, except for the churros maybe. So kind of fast food with some handy touch.. However taste wise 4/5. Price wise 3/5. Overall 3.5..

Here's an idea 💡 A must try in Sumner Christchurch!!! 😍 I've been to alot of Mexican restaurant around the world and this one is top's 👍🏻 From the welcoming/greeting from the friendly staff to the A++ table and tops drink service . I will be definitely coming back again. A big thank you to your chef for all the lovely dishes, I left with a siesta dancing on my pallet! In the famous words of Speedy Gonzalez Arriba Arriba! Dropped in there after a movie, without a booking. Very accommodating and welcoming. We shared a Ceviche but wished we had had one each as it was delicious. One of us had a main sized nachos and what impressed was the amount of topping which was tasty and a generous serving. I had the fish Burritos and my partner a Burrito bowl. Both were great. The service was attentive and helpful, I couldn't fault it. The decor is rustic and cosy. We will be back.

Lovely experience! We loved all the flavours the textures and aromas, everything was titillating on the taste buds! The staff were very very very friendly. Please don't leave without trying the desert... Churros and brownie was amazing.

We've loved this place for ages but our most recent visit was unusually underwhelming. Service was lackadaisical. Our waiter was personable but was not very attentive. Food wasn't quite to the normal standard that we've come to expect. Headless Mexican did hold the crown for the best mexican in Christchurch but that title is now up for debate. Make sure you ask for the hot sauce options , they were excellent and added a pop that was lacking.

Just went in for a drink to fill in time before a dinner booking. The waitress was very accommodating and even provided us with complementary chips. Margherita was delicious. Will be back for dinner.

Have been a few times, food is good. But they never have churros despite them being on the menu. I think it's a little on the expensive side. Last time I was there the service was quite slow and we were not given any water for the table, tried to ask for it but there was nobody around to get it from.

Lovely little restaurant with warm and engaging staff. Taco was amazing - perfect balance of flavour and taste. Dessert was brownie and churros. Brownie was warm, with an amazing chocolate sauce paired with ice cream and was divine. Churros had a salted caramel and dark chocolate sauce. Both were incredible with perfect churros. Absolutely recommend!

Great spot for Mexican food. Being from California, I've missed good Mexican food here in NZ, but this spot exceeded my expectations. Came here two nights in a row for the food and margaritas. Highly recommend!

Cool little restaurant with a good atmosphere. Glad we made reservations as they ended up being fully booked the evening we went. Music was LOUD when we got there although staff did turn it down when we asked them to. Food was amazing. Although the margarita pitcher was delicious, it felt like a ripoff only getting 3 small glasses out of a $40 pitcher. In saying all that, I'd definitely go back some time for the awesome food!

The food was fresh and vibrant, the fish ceviche and the lamb taco were especially good. The service was very friendly and always happy to answer questions and give a few pointers. A great family meal.

Delicious flavours, recommend the pork belly! The guacamole is spot on too for flavour and ever so slight hint of heat. Dont be put off by reviews about it being expensive, the meal size is enormous so you wont be wanting more! Great range of non-alcoholic mocktails as well as extensive beer and wine selection. Good helpful service.

Great restaurant. Food and atmosphere is terrific! I usually don't leave reviews but had to give props to this place! The ceviche was the star of the show and the flan for dessert was 👌👌 only negative is I live too far away for it to be my local!!

I went years ago and had an amazing meal so was excited to go back. However, I was disappointed. I had the baked tortilla salad with prawns. It was average and the lettuce in it was wrong, a curly soft hydroponic one it needs to be changed to a crunchy iceberg. It was not worth the 27 dollar price. I ordered churros to take away, the manager gave me a discount as they only had three left. I ate them when I got home and they were raw batter in the middle! Not sure what happened tonight but I'm not going back. Three stars for the great service.

This is a hidden gem! Great fresh food. Lots of options for all preferences. Large and small meals, vegetarian options, etc. Healthy food with great flavours! ... oh and did I mention the Margaritas? Fabulous. Friendly, local style service with a cosy atmosphere. Great for groups or couples as they have 2 spaces, there are dining options. Fabulous..Try it!

Went here on a quiet Wednesday night, no booking just walked in. We were quickly greeted and seated by friendly waitstaff, and ordered our food and drinks. The waiter advised we try the beef steaks, which we did, and they were fantastic, as was everything else we had. Even got a top up on our drinks for no charge. 10/10, will be coming back

Great food! Great atmosphere! Way better that the other pretenders in town. We ordered most of the menu and all was good. Not authentic, but after all we're in the South Island of NZ. The lamb enchiladas were amazing! And the ceviche was as good as I've had in Central and South America! And everything was so fresh, from the free homemade chips to the desserts. And they have Lyttelton's Eruption IPA on draft. Next we'll try the margaritas...

This is a cozy, casual restaurant that is great for kids and adults. The staff are wonderful people and the venue is really a great environment. There's plenty of space so why not bring your family and even friends. The food there is on a whole other level of Mexican cuisine. Very delicious meals with many drinks and cocktails to choose from. I loved the experience and I'm rating five stars because I would recommend this to anyone looking for a great Mexican food experience.

Maybe it is because I am from the states and I know mexican food well but the food was bland. The enchiladas were probably the best thing we ordered (and they were kind of small for the price). The fajita meat was dry and the beans were hard. The rice didn't have much flavor, the guacamole was pricy, and the margaritas were watered down. I feel bad for all the negative comments but overall I would not be going back.

Recently went here with a friend for dinner. Loved the atmosphere and decor of the restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt. I felt a bit let down by the tiny size vs. the price of the classic Margarita - never saw such tiny versions of it anywhere... The food was ok but nothing outstanding. The main let down for me was the fact that everything that we ordered seemed to be half cold by the time it was served to us. Not sure why but personally I don't like luke warm food at all. Considering the price I think they should and could step it up a bit but I guess with a lack of competition in the area there is probably not too much pressure here...

For a while, I spent half an hour in the neighborhood, it was too cold, so I found a place to eat. I have not eaten Mexican food before. So it is not good. But the taste is acceptable. And there is something delicious. There are quite a lot of people in the store, and I think it tastes good. Just arrived, there are not many people. After dinner, people will be full. There are also a lot of people waiting in line. It’s really a good bar restaurant, like the steaks of their family. And pizza.

One of my favourite Mexican places in Christchurch. Relaxed, fun vibe and decor. Small and intimate. Fantastic service and ambience. Easy parking right outside. A local's go to. My fav are the chicken enchiladas with refried beans and rice (corn based, so ideal if you are GF) and their churro's with chocolate dipping sauce. Their mocktails and cocktails are 👌 Great place to relax and chill and have a few laughs.

Have been threatening to go here for months and so glad we did! Warm, friendly atmosphere with delicious, authentic Mexican and South American food. Opens around 5pm, so perfect, if you like to eat early. I can see this popular restaurant gets busy and the setting is great for a romantic night or if you want to eat family style. A terrific menu with some traditional dishes and fusion choices. The staff make you feel very welcome and know their menus inside out. Quick service, nothing was too much trouble. I ordered the mouthwatering Chimichanga and it didn't disappoint. The side salad was an excellent mix and beautifully fresh. The guacamole was very well balanced and complimented the dish perfectly. Having been to Mexico several times, I can honestly say, that I loved everything about this experience. They even stock bottles of Sol and make wicked Mojitos, which finished off the evening nicely. I would definitely be back to this terrific spot. I would advise booking a table, as such a great place will always have busy nights. Another feather in the cap for Sumner's excellent neighbourhood of good places to eat. Get yourselves booked and enjoy!

Recently visited for the first time to celebrate my wife's birthday with family. Had fantastic, friendly service from the owner and his staff and all of us enjoyed our meals. Can personally recommend the Venezualan lamb dish and the Mexican flan! Good selection of beer and the margueritas were also good. Will definitely be back soon.

This place is so much fun. The food wasn't exactly like I expected but it was really good and filling. The waiters were kind and helpful making sure we had everything we wanted.

Have been there a couple of times, both times we have had some excellent tasting food. Waitstaff have been friendly and knowledgeable on both occasions. Nice cosy place, finally had the chocolate brownie with chilli chocolate sauce for dessert and it was yummo for the tummo! Will be back again

After a few rounds of margaritas my partner decided to order half the menu which was lucky as the food was incredible, went home as stuffed as a turkey at Christmas. The dessert nearly killed us as it tasted too good, and our bodies were about to burst open from our mains. The seating was a little cramped but maybe that was because we resembled a table of small blimps. No amount of hard liquor cut through that dinner aftwards, but very happy tums regardless. 4/5 great place to eat.

Fun place. Have been many times; first when we lived here and now when we come back. It has good food, fast, good drinks and child friendly. Located in Sumner, which is the best place in Christchurch - by the beach, quiet and lovely. Go visit and eat up!
