G.Highly recommend. Warm and friendly service. Great atmosphere and music. The food was superb. The prawn dumplings were to die for and the squid beautifully done.

s.Attentive and friendly staff, nice to kids, we sat outside even though it was in the middle of winter, it was really sunny outside. Tram goes pass every 10minutes kids loved it. Food came relatively quick too. We had calamari, prawns and pork belly to share. All very tasty, relatively small portion though, wasn't easy to judge what's enough for the table. Would definitely go back to try other items on the menu again.

The customer service was fantastic, with Jot taking care of us during our meals and the manager making us feel welcome to stay late and enjoy the terrace area after we dined. A.Had dinner here with friends, the food was amazing and the waitress, Jot, was so good - she made us feel so welcome. At the end of our meal we sat outside and they arranged all the heaters around us with zero hassle. We will definitely be going back here. So accomodating.
J.If you want to cheer yourself up during level 2, head to the Thirsty Peacock for amazing service, quality food and great cocktails. The mashed potato was so creamy and the creme brule was the best I've ever tasted (and I've tasted quite a few all over the world!). Portion sizes were perfect and the staff are friendly and professional. We will definitely be back.
K.I had lunch yesterday there, which was absolutely superb. Just the correct amount of portions and perfectly cooked. OMG the meal, and the dessert both fantastic! I will be definitely dining here again! And the staff - super friendly. The ultimate Christchurch experience. Treat yourself and go here for you next meal.

V.Such a pleasure coming here!! Been wanting to try it out for a while now. The menu has a little bit of everything for everyone. Anything you pick will be a treat! We went for the beast board platter, absolutely recommend it!

C.I stood at the counter for just slightly too long before the lady behind the counter acknowledged my presence and when she did, no smile, just "what do you want" or something to that affect. I can't remember her exact words but it is quite important to make people feel welcome in a cafe with a smile. I expect they may need more staff as the lady was stacking cups that were out of the washer so no time to focus on being friendly and welcoming. Also I was served tea with no tespoon which was odd. This place is nice but needs to be better for the price.
L.We visited the Thirsty Peacock on Saturday night and we could not fault the meal. I had the Beef Cheeks Ana they were so delicious. My husband got the steak and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Big servings and priced well. Thanks

T.The Thirsty Peacock is a lovely place for after works drinks or a lovely meal with friends or family. The battered gurnard and fries I had was perfectly prepared and the cauliflower steak was a lovely vege friendly option had by my dining companion. The Yorkshire pudding sharing platter we had at the beginning was also delicious. However, for only 3 pieces I believe it is a little pricey and I probably would have elected to have gone for another sharing dish or a light main if I'd have had that knowledge in advance. Nevertheless, all the dishes were beautifully paired with vegetables that were excellently prepared and which had not had the life sucked out of them. The mains are generous in portion and unfortunately left us full for dessert. The desserts menu looked very appetizing! Their drinks menu is also very good and the bar area was a hive of happiness. Overall, we loved our time there and the staff went above and beyond the call of duty to attend to us. A very clean, warm and inviting establishment we'd definitely be delighted to visit again.

I had the trust the chef degustation menu which consisted of 8 dishes
1/ Freshly toasted foccacia with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip/dressing
2/ Beef croquettes that were literally melt in the mouth (apparently a 2 day process to create these beauties)
3/ Fresh Tuna sashimi with pickled shallots and cucumber
4/ Mushroom Risotto with cheese
5/ Grilled Calamari with Cherry tomatoes
6/ Medium rare Venison with beets and smashed potato
7/ Fresh Market Fish with Chili and Lime pasta
8/ Chocolate sensation dessert

S.Lovely looking place and handy as if you are in the art gallery. We ordered a black forest and a jaffa milkshake and a cranberry and pistachio slice to share. The black forest milk shake wasn't cold and had little flavour beyond excessive sweetness. It came out with heaps of whipped cream on it. Whipped cream on a milkshake is odd to me. The jaffa milkshake was better, but still not cold. The slice was mostly ganache with fruits and nuts (no pistachios we could detect). We were so disappointed considering the lovely surroundings and the high price. The staff were friendly and the drinks came quickly. We left very disappointed.
B.Fabulous dining experience. The food was beautiful in both presentation and taste. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The decor is lovely and set up really well so you don't feel like you are in other diners space.

A.Universo is one of the best in Christchurch. A range of options for dining, great bar for drinks or just call in for a coffee and something from the cabinet. The staff here are awesome, friendly and very helpful. There's plenty of room with a range of spaces, cafe, bar, dining, casual, formal and a really good outdoor space. Highly recommended.
V.Awesome location and fantastic menu. Indoor and outdoor dining/drinks. Live music playing... would give 5+ stars if they had a better wine list. So we moved to the bar across the road.
L.I had a great meal at Universo today. The food was top quality and innovative, while reasonably priced. The staff were friendly and attentive. It's in an ideal spot amongst so many city attractions and it is easy to get a park close by.
K.A beautiful restaurant. Great service. We went for brunch but will definitely be back to try the lunch and dinner menus. The bar area also looks like a lovely place to enjoy some cocktails.

Undercooked and tough steak on the sharing Beast board.
It was too noisy due to large groups drinking at the bar and whistling and we didn't stay for dessert as we needed a break from the noise. It was bad that the waitress couldn't hear our orders because of it.
It took a long time for the food to arrive even with few people actually there eating.
Double cooked chips were good.
BlackBerry daquari was very nice.
The seats were comfortable.
T.me and my girlfriend went out for dinner for valentine's day and i ordered the lamb rump and it was so tasty, my girlfriend ordered the market fish and she devoured it saying it had great flavour. We would definitely recommend going there for dinner because it was an all round great experience.
K.It's a lovely coffee shop, beautiful settings on the side of the Christchurch Art Gallery which is a stunning building. The staff were super nice however I didn't enjoy the coffee i was served. I will go back and try the coffee again though, just to make sure the barista wasn't having a bad day.
