We had been given a gift voucher. Booked with easy and arrived on time. Staff gave a good explanation of what we were getting. We added wine pair to the meal at a very good price. As each course arrive with the paired wine it was explained clearly.. What an experience The started looked good, tasted amazing and I could have just ordered the same as a main and been very happy. Wine match was excellent. Main arrive. Beef. This was perfectly cooked and was so tasty and full of flavours. Again the wine match fitted perfectly. Dessert was a treat. Sweet, sour, crunchie with a sweet dessert wine

Such a lovely experience with friendly service! We did trust the chef and he did not disappoint, however we did wish there was more than one potato in the main. Lucky we got the fries which were also delicious . My partner loved the atmosphere and the design of the restaurant itself.

My friend and I had a wonderful evening of the most delicious meals we had experienced in a long time. My friend is Vegan which was the reason why I chose Town Tonic, their Vegan menu is the best we have seen, the variety of Vegan options was very pleasing. My meal the Lamb was exceptionally tasty and tender along with our delightful desserts made our dining experience all the more enjoyable. Thank you Town Tonic.

One of the best meals we have had in a long time. Every part of the new menu was just fantastic. We were a party of 5, making the most of the menu. Service was great, wine list good and the timing of courses was right on. The lamb was cooked to perfection and with two vegetarians in our party, the menu delivered flavour and taste for non-meat dishes. A most enjoyable evening and will certainly add this to the list of must eats.

We were given a grab one for Christmas from one of our sons. It was labelled.... 'trust the chef'. We trusted the chef and wow... What a taste sensation! Entree, main course and Dessert was amazing. We loved it. I have to say that there wasn't much of it. I certainly wasn't full by the time I left but it was a wonderful experience and quite delicious. Made even better by waiter, George who talked us all through the courses. What an amazing, personable young man. Thanks George. Highly recommended!

We've been at Town Tonic quite a few times now and the quality of service and food is very good and consistent. The food offers interesting combinations, is perfectly balanced and looks good as well.There are also plenty of options available for people with dietary requirements. The open kitchen gives those who are interested a good view of how it's all prepared. The wine list matches the food perfectly with plenty of choice to actually wine and dine.

Beautiful food and an amazing presentation. We totally enjoyed the “ trust the chef “ and enjoyed everything that was offered to us . I’m a small eater and felt satisfied but the others on our party left a tad hungry…maybe an offer of breads and dips could have compliment the meal or cheese to finish .

Went out on a lunch date to Town Tonic. I looked at the menu online and wasn't really interested in much on it but on the day was presented with a new menu with better options available. Food was very good and so was the atmosphere.

We were a party of nine for lunch and had no complaints at all - the venue was very nice, the service was lovely, and the food was simply delicious! I had the salmon which was cooked to absolute perfection - heavenly! We all had different meals and everybody was very happy, congratulations to the whole team at TT, especially the chef!

Simply the best! Four of us had breakfast and we couldn't fault anything at all. The service was very good, the chef obviously loves his job because the food was presented superbly and all tasted great. Add cinnamon tea, English breakfast tea, a mocha and a cappuccino, which were all good and we had a simply superb breakfast. We have already made arrangements to get back.

Always love to go to Town Tonic. And a great stop before going to the theatre as well. The staff are always lovely and efficient and look out for you if you are running late. The food is excellent and never less than perfect and interesting.

Great ;location and option for a meal prior to going to the Court Theatre. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty. Not cheap but worth the price. The ability to have a reasonable sized main meal without having to order a side serving of vegetables would be an advantage. A small thing but the spoons served with the desserts were of poor quality and not what we would have expected. Overall good service and a very nice meal

We had breakfast at Town Tonic yesterday and it was truly fantastic. The portion sizes were more than generous and the Salmon Eggs Benedict was undeniably the best I have ever had. Our table had the Bacon Eggs Bennie and the Big Breakfast as well, both of which were amazing. Thanks to the fabulous staff and your very talented chef.

Good location slightly out of town. Parking available off street. Disable and pram access available. High chair available. Funky interior design with some booth seats, also some tables outside. Attentive and friendly staff, the chef seems nice and was taking photos of the dishes he was preparing for us, the atmosphere was good. We had a good experience dining in this restaurant with their 6 course degustation. We were not overly hungry and ordered one 6 course to share between the two of us. I have to emphasis, their portion is gigantic!! We couldn't finish the last two dishes, started with vege, fish, duck, mushrooms, venison, finished with a dessert.

Such an exciting and surprising menu! Like no other cafe in Christchurch. These flavours are so well thought out, presented. Portions are perfect. It's really nice sitting near the open kitchen and seeing the action happen too. Interesting exciting unpretentious food at value for money prices. Rapidly turning into a favourite spot.

Wonderful evening tonight ! Thank you so much for the quality food and attentive and helpful staff ! We chose to take the special 2 courses of the night that either no one or all the table can have and they were very accomodating when I told them I was vegetarian. In the end my partner and myself had different meals that we could share and enjoy twice as much ! And lovely cheese selection. The portion are not huge but because you eat slowly and enjoy every bites it is enough to fill you up. And they change the menu every 6 weeks ! Will definitely come again in 6 weeks !

Our party of 7 had a wonderful meal at Town Tonic on Friday night. The service was efficient and friendly and the food was fantastic. We booked early to dine before a show at the Court Theatre nearby. Even though two of our party were 25 minutes late our orders were taken and food served extremely promptly and we were in good time for the show. The food was delicious and servings generous. Was gifted a voucher to me by my brother for my 40th birthday, as we’d never eaten here before. The staff & service was friendly, my questions about the GrabOne voucher were addressed in a positive way, & the restaurant was very modern & clean. The food was absolutely amazing! We shared the maple fried chicken entree, & for the mains we had the braised beef cheek & the lamb stew dishes. Presentation was very colourful, & portion sizes were generous. Flavour was incredible, with a touch of modern fusion as well as old school slow cooked texture. A pleasure to eat where our expectations were exceeded, & we'll definitely be back again :-)

I visited here early October. Restaurant had an inviting ambience although not busy. Service pleasant and prompt. I ordered the Pork Belly which was tasty with some subtle flavours. The pakoras that accompanied it, (little cauliflower fritters), would have been nice but were burnt. I mentioned this twice to the waitress but all she said was sorry. It was late and I had had a long day travelling so didn't pursue it. Overall meal attractively presented and portion generous. My surprise came when I came to pay. For the first time ever I was required to pay a fee if paying by credit card! While it wasn't much it was a matter of principle and I chose to pay cash.

Have to say I've been here several times but my most recent visit proved disappointing. The honest menu, which is the only reason I have been here, has been shrinking and shrinking. While the portion sizes are good (although are not the cheapest) the range of options is not what it was. I came with non vegan family hoping to wow them with the variety of vegan options but was rather deflated and a touch embarrassed having been the one who made the restaurant recommendation . The dessert, at the time a vegan birthday cake, was dry and very very average and definitely not worth the price tag. Admittedly this was a few months ago so maybe I got them on a bad day but I have not been back since due to this experience. Its an expensive treat to have a beautifully made vegan meal but I think I'll now stick with more consistent performers that aren't as pricey.

Had eggs benedict with fried chicken. Chicken was great. Dish needed texture and freshness to break up the heavy chicken and hash. Hash was fried prior to serve- bottom was burnt, and had been fried too long/hot so only half was soft potato the rest was inedible crisp. Coffee was lovely, staff were welcoming, polite and the interior/atmosphere were all 10/10. Would return to try a fresher dish as everything else was great!

One of the best vegan meals of our entire lives. YUM. We had brussel sprouts as a starter and they were seasoned perfectly. I had a cauliflower dish as my main & my husband had a mushroom risotto, both delicious. We then went with dessert, which is rare for us, but everything was already so good we went for it. & my god, life changer! It was a gingerbread cake with caramel sauce, gingerbread cookie pieces & vanilla ice cream. Easily the best vegan dessert we ever had. The bartender guy was super cool and friendly, as was the waitress we had. We were very casually dressed compared to everyone else because we’re doing a road trip around the South Island - I feel like the manager Shannon wasn’t as nice to us because of this, as we saw her being friendlier to other customers. We didn’t mind too much because everything else was off the charts.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!!!!!! Deliciously Tasty highly reccommended food!!!! I have never liked olives ever before but I have been converted (Maybe only if they are from here). The Lamb and Beef Ribeye were both cooked to perfection. Absolutely melted in our mouths. I also am not a fan of vegetables but they had so much flavour I didnt leave a single pea on my plate. The desserts were delicious and didnt leave us feeling over full. Everything was served in perfect sized portions (although the soup was a very small portion for the price, we didnt order it but the table next to us did and it looked very nice) and presentation was excellent. Food, staff and service of very high quality. Definately reccommended and will definately be back. 😊

Went for breakfast on a quiet Saturday morning. Coffee was excellent however was disappointed with the quantity of food you got for the price. Ordered Miss Simple ($12) which is basically fancy tomato on toast - two of the thinnest slices of bread I've ever been served with what amounted to about half of a tomato sliced on top and only one cherry tomato sliced in half. We all joked that the kitchen must have been running low on ingredients. Tasted good but we all felt very short changed. Gotta do better with the strong cafe scene in Chch nowadays.

We arrived hungry after an event and the kitchen were great at providing a range of food for us without us having to make decisions about what we'd like to eat. The lamb was amazing. The food never fails to deliver. I would encourge adding some of the 'vegan week' items to your main menu as we had the 'chicken' wings and they were incredible, we'd probably come back weekly for those! The honest menu food is so creative, little on the expensive side but worth it.

Every meal was a medley of expected and unexpected flavours, excellent in either case. I marvelled at how efficient and friendly the team of two were that cooked and served for our table, both serene and friendly, and their appreciation for our praise was felt rather than brushed off which was lovely. When settling the bill i discovered two staff had called in sick, but they still managed to run a very tight ship with minimal wait times. I look forwards to dining again when they have full staff, I don't know that I could be more impressed, but I'll certainly let them try.

Nestled in the the hustle and bustle of post earthquake Addington, Town Tonic makes a great place for after work drinks or a end of week meal. The menu is well thought out and nothing on there disappoints. Great range of wines and reasonable range of craft beer.

I made reservations for this restaurant for my daughters birthday and drove 4 hours to come to this restaurant though when we got there our table wasn't ready. We were waiting around uncomfortably for 30 minutes without answers and being ignored, I myself was completely ignored even though I made the booking, they would only speak to the older gentleman that was with our party. They ended up putting some tables together in the back corner for us, by the time we were seated and were asked what drinks we would like it was an hour past my booking. Once all of the food was delivered to our table I had to go up to the counter to inquire about my daughters food who hadn't received hers. This restaurant should have a system like other restaurants where they tell the table that there is a booking at a certain time and then 15 minutes before the other booking is ready let them know that the booking is in 15 minutes. Communication with the tables would be nice so other customers aren't standing around humiliated. This review would have been a 0-1 if it wasn't for the fact that the food was amazing.
