Food were tasty; meat were tender and juicy. But they were not smoky which is a little bit disappointed for us. Very good service. We're interesting to try their butcher feast if we have more people

We had dinner here for the second time as our first experience was sooooo good. We came for our honeymoon in Sept 2020. I think they have gotten even better if that’s possible. We ordered the eye fillet, lamb rack and sides with a delicious Wild Earth wine. The staff deserve a shout out too, so friendly. Absolutely devine! We WILL be back.

Was here on the 29th May21. I am quite happy to rate this place with 5 stars. It was a mere 6°c in Cromwell this evening. The Stoaker room was warm with good ambient lighting. The lady and gentlemen serving us were courteous happy and obliging. The food: I myself had the lamb rack and roast potatoes. Those with me had the platter. The meats were cooked superbly and the flavors of the food were just beautiful. Very well done on the venison also which was part of the platter. The plates/platter the food was served on was fantastic and added to the enjoyment and visual taste of being here. Very impressed and I would have no hesitation in recommending this establishment or coming back here. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - well done, as I dont give 5 stars lightly.

Absolutely love the food here as it's always cooked beautifully. Brilliant meal options, my favs are the Butcher's feast or the Stoaker Banquet. Don't normally have dessert, but on New Year's eve we shared the Crack Pie and OMG it was divine 😍 Best dessert I've ever eaten anywhere, hands down. Fantastic drinks menu, highly recommend the Wild Earth Bubbles 🍾 🥂

Great spot. We had the salmon which was nice and the jerk chicken. Although the chicken was well cooked it definitely wasn't jerk chicken. There was no jerk flavour. Does have a good atmosphere and the staff were great.

Absolutely delicious! Everything on our tasting board was exceptional. Obviously this place is known for its smoked meats but the sides were just as good! Potatoes were actually roasted and crisp, the couscous salad another surprising winner (I’m normally not a fan). Also when the food came out we were both unsure how we were going to eat it all, but we did!

I was on a trip with my friend and on our way back to Christchurch this was our last stop for food. Totally worth it! To start with, all the staff was so friendly. We had the nicest lady from Invercargill. My friend and I had some really silly questions and she was really patient, friendly and had great suggestions. We had the mulled wine. So good! And the food! Oh my the food was amazing. We had the burger and hot dog. The meat on the burger was juicy and the cheese was so cheesy!! The hot dog was made of goat meat and seasoned well. Definitely worth the visit!

A great find while on the road. They smoke all of their meat in old wine barrels. The taste isn’t overwhelming and the meat is moist and tastes great. We did the sharing plate with a wine tasting pairing. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and there were options to sit indoors or outdoors. Great views and beautiful decor. Highly recommend.

Husband and I had a fantastic meal here. Mine was the lamb skewer and my husband had the Pork ribs. Both meals were delicious. It may pay to ring ahead and book as it looked to be fully utilised when we arrived - we were lucky the lovely waitress had a space for us.

One of Cromwell's finer restaurants, offering tasty barrel cuisine for the sophisticated palette. The 450g ribeye steak is always a solid choice. Service is attentive and upbeat. Extensive wine list. A great place for a romantic evening or a night out with friends.

My initial plan was to have lunch at Mt Difficulty winery, as I love their wines and wanted to pair it with the food from their kitchen. Due to the fact that I didn't make any reservation - I didn't know what time that I'd make it to the restaurant anyway - the earliest available slot was 3pm and I arrived at the winery around 12pm++. Plan B - always have a backup plan just in case because popular winery is always packed. Located in the township of Cromwell (not Bannockburn), we quickly order the food. The waiter told us that it'd take at least 20-30 min to prepare the food, we walked to nearby Wild Earth (who also own Stoaker Room) to get a glass of their Pinot Noir 2010. ◾finger licking Stoaker chicken nibbles NZ$14 - lovely smoked taste with juicy meat.. the kids loved the chicken wings so much ◾Stoaker Grill pork ribs NZ$25 - fork tender and juicy meat texture. They didn't need any more convincing work to do... I believe that the grilling technique has been perfected here. ◾side of smoky grilled vegetables for NZ$10 - it turned out that we loved this dish the most. If there's a reason to go vegan, it'd be this dish! ◾Wild Earth Pinot Noir 2010 - pampered myself to a good glass of Pinot before continuing the journey to Dunedin. It turned out to be one of the best smoked and grilled foods that we had in a while. We didn't have any expectations and therefore were wowed by the quality and taste of the dishes. After that, we went to have a wine tasting at Misha's Vineyard Tasting Room before leaving for our final destination - Dunedin. If you love meat and wine you should definitely go to this restaurant. They cook their food in old pinot noir wine barrels in an open kitchen. We had a platter with pork belly,pulled beef and smoked lamb. The food is amazing and the meat is melt in your mouth. We finished the meal with an amazing crack pie 🥧 . They also have a nice wine selection from their winery and they also offer wine tasting while dining 🍷I definitely recommend this restaurant so if you’re from the area or passing by you should definitely go here 🍺🥩🍗

Wow! Great wee spot and a great menu, one of those menus wehre you dont know what to order so you just order it all. Ribs were cooked perfectly and the mac and cheese was a highlight! Service was friendly and a cosy wee spot during winter.

Absolutely delicious food! Potatoes are delicious, the fondue was phenomenal. Stuffed mushrooms were literally "the nicest mushrooms (my brother in law had) ever tasted". Lovely service and the chef we spoke to glows with pride in what he does, and so he should! Awesome! We will definitely be back!

Incredible food and very nice atmosphere. Thiago, the chef, showed us how they use modified wine barrels to slow cook, grill and smoke their pork belly and pork ribs, which taste amazing! Highly recommend to anyone keen on having some great food in Cromwell!

Mains, wine, service, and setting are quite nice. We had the night’s special, fillet mignon, and a burger. Best steak and burger we’d had since moving to New Zealand 3 years ago. Avoid desert though. Their pie is totally bland and they serve it cold.

One of the best restaurants we've been to in NZ! The owner is so friendly and has crafted these amazing smoker barrels that the entire menu (I believe) goes through! Delicious, amazing and unique! They also have really good beers and wines!

We were passing through Cromwell to do a wine tasting and didn't expect much from a smaller town food wise, but man this place absolutely exceeded expectations. Everything was delicious, but the halloumi and broccoli salad and lamb were excellent! Great beer. Cozy atmosphere, nice service. Some of the best food we had in NZ so far.

Fantastic place! Staff appears to love to be here and are really engaged and friendly in an authentic way. The Cheese Fondue is delicious (well as a European I would like to have sour dough artisan bread with it but still delicious). The cauliflower “steak” with all its smokiness is outstanding. And for the carnivores don’t miss any of the meat options. The lamb rack is cooked to perfection. In case you don’t notice you can do a wine tasting of the Wild Earth Winery. Don’t miss the Pinot Gris. Never had a Pinot like this. There is a hint of saltiness at the end which compliments the subtle fruitiness.

The front of house staff were really welcoming and helpful. Ricky made sure we were looked after with a high chair and anything else we needed to help with out little ones. The big space worked well for us as a family for kids to have space without upsetting those without! Excellent selection of local craft beer on tap. Very surprised when we arrived. The kitchen is outside, the cooking is done in barrels and the dining room under a markee. The decor is very nice, wood furniture, heater above the tables. The food was very good and tasty and the drinks were lovely. Our waitress was very good. Highly recommend. We loved it.

Just wow ! Some of the best food EVERRRR. Great find while driving though the small town Cromwell. Very friendly people and great recommendations. Sits opposite a lovely wine tasting shed (Misha’s tasting room) which we did before and she recommended that this had the best food.

When I got there I wasn’t sure about the restaurant. It was late night so we’ve decided to stay since we were too tired. Since there are five of us, we ordered Signature Sharing platters. WOW!WOW! Omg, it was sooo good. I love it. All the meats were cooked perfectly. Meats were juicy, tender and lots of flavors. It was delicious. Must stop by here to eat if you are near Cromwell. This place is everything you like to see in a business; family operated, rustic decor, amazing product, fair price,effective service, interesting concept and they had a great playlist. The owner took the time to explain his unique wine barell smokers that he developed himself. Absolutely great service from Miyuki (sorry for the spelling!). This place is Cromwell's gem.

We turned up on spec for lunch on Queen's Birthday weekend and they squeezed us in and we're so glad they did. This is a meat lover's dream, which isn't to say that vegetarians are ignored, because they're not.
