Just had dinner there. Staff very friendly food was out quick and very very good. My partner did a happy dance as it was the best steak she has had in a long time. I highly recommend going there.

Hi. Went there with the Jaguar Car Club and had a really really great meal. Reasonable prices, fun staff and efficient esp as we were a large group. HIGHLY recommended!

Have been a couple of times and planning to go again. Food is delicious, atmosphere has style and is relaxed and comfortable. As good, if not better than you'll get anywhere in the country.

It's definitely an experience fam', and one that sets the bar for all restaurants out there. The dining experience and the atmosphere is a combination of warm, loving and homely. The amazing staff are incredibly welcoming and the beautiful welcome upon entering the establishment is so warm - you become a part of the High Street Bistro family right there. The entire dining experience was absolutely worth the wait and we are so VERY VERY thankful to have come to you beauties for a birthday/long overdue dinner date. Nothing but love for the team. To say the High Street Bistro is the best place to eat in the Manawatu/Tararua is a complete understatement. The food alone is fantastic, high quality and never misses the beat. The flavors, variety and presentation of the food is nothing short of the highest standards. Once you see, smell and taste the food the High Street Bistro crafts, you will understand the pure love for food that is poured into their, what should be known as, art. The team is no except to the high standard. The moment you walk through the door, you are greeted with a friendly and relaxed smile. This paired with the atmosphere and music pumping, bring such a welcoming experience. Throughout the entire course of your meal, you are well attended too without being over the top and are always made to feel, you are being served by someone who has your best interest at heart. Of course, I have to speak of the amazing drinks that are on offer! I've got to the point I can just say, 'Surprise me!' and I can guarantee I'm going to get a drink that looks as impressive as it tastes. I've got to the point I have to limited how many drinks I have otherwise I would be there for hours. All and all, DON'T GO ANYWHERE ELSE. The High Street Bistro is the best place I have eaten at for a long time. Don't go to Maccas or K-fry, have some real food and service from the High Street Bistro.

Blew me away to be honest. The vibe was good, service was great, food was next level. Hard to believe I was still in Dannevirke, was genuinely that amazing.

We drive through Dannevirke a lot and don’t usually stop but were glad we did today! Ordered off the Sunday brunch menu: the brisket burger and the vegan tofu scramble. Both were excellent - we are flexitarians so if we are going to eat meat it’s got to be good; and the brisket definitely didn’t disappoint! Nice decor and friendly staff. Will be planning our future trips with a stop in Dannevirke to try the rest of the menu

We were very pleasantly surprised to find this beautiful restaurant on our one night stay in Dannevirke. Not only did we find vegetarian and vegan options, the staff were very accommodating & friendly And the food was exceptional! Only down side was unpleasant tasting tap water & very bright overhead lighting but this did not detract from our overall lovely dining experience. We will be back!

About a year ago I posted the following not long after the High Street Bistro opened.... "Awesome job by Chef Campbell Sprague. Simply the best Calamari I've ever had. So many Flavours going on there and top quality Squid. Superb aged Beef Fillet Steak. We had a great night." Just wanted to say that returning a year later the squid is still popping with flavours and the smokey chicken fettuccine was exquisite. The staff invest everything in your evening from front of house to kitchen and back again. I'll be returning before too long to indulge in duck spring rolls. What a gem Dannevirke!! Make it a Roady Pilgrimage everyone! Love from Rupert and Family.

Food amazing especially the fish I had and a special entree of home made bread, merlot jelly and pate. Exquisite tastes. As for the drinks..well they make you want more. Professional helpful and lovely staff. Great atmosphere and amazing chefs. Totally recommend to any passing through Danniverke the desert was totally homemade, fresh stewed rhubarb with delicious crumble. A great night!!

Lovely new spot in town! Friendly staff, quality food, decent prices. Would love to see more vegetarian options, but the jalapeño poppers are great. Will be an awesome asset to town in summer especially! Looking forward to our next visit :)

Stopped for dinner on the way back to Wellington and can not be more pleased that i did. From entering where staff were friendly and efficient in getting me seated on quite a busy night. I had the squid for my entrée and it had a bit of a hot kick, really good. The main I chose was the duck and it was as good as the entree. Going for 3 out of 3 I had the crème Brule and wow that was a great finisher. A definite if your passing through Dannivirke , you wont be disappointed. A great place to have a meal and the service is as good as the food.
