Lovely spot with a comfortable outdoor eating space. I ordered the seafood salad and it was delicious covered in their own spices and I heard the scrambled eggs were cooked very well too. Thanks for the yummy food.

Amazing place in Dannevirke! Things are done with taste here. The food is amazing, the breakfast, lunch, desserts... Everything is soooo yummy !!! The Terrace outside is lovely, and you can even get your free range eggs for home. Never disappointed.

Nice fresh produce and nice staff.quick service and smiles all around - behind masks of course. All items in the cabinets seem supersized. Should have shared my muffin with the wife it was very filling. Great value for money though.

We have called into this cafe a few times driving through Danniverke. Friendly staff nice food. This time it was take away only although we could sit outside. The food was nice but expensive and the take away drinks cost more because they were takeaway... yes it was written on the board but it wasn't clear. It was mixed up withe rest of the menu, this was pointed out to us later. they also gave us large when we didn't ask for large. $5 for a black tea!!!!! I know times are hard with Covid but its a vicious circle when businesses are struggling but also the customer may be struggling. Its getting harder to support these cafes.

Went for breakfast. The Hunters Breakfast was awesome, especially with black pudding. All meals were presented beautifully. The coffee was great and the staff were warm and welcoming.

Absolutely loved the food; rich satisfying flavours. Gorgeous art on the walls and fun deco. Clean toilet as well as seating indoors and out. But someone give these hard working ladies a raise, they could use a few extra smiles in their lives .

Overall, I mostly liked The Forge. I only ate light, pre-made food from the counter cabinet and had a coffee and a tea. Would I dine there again? With the road noise being what it is, probably not, even though the staff ate great and I'd love to sample some food from the main menu. I didn't try the free WiFi. Pro's : staff were friendly, helpful and professional without being snobby. The toilets were spacious and clean. The dining area was clean and tidy and well lit. The cooked food looked very tasty and well presented from what I saw and smelled. There was ample outdoor seating split between the pavement and an open courtyard. My coffee was good, just how I like it. The tea was OK, but the little milk jug made pouring without making a mess a little challenging. Con's : the restaurant itself is quite small and pokey. Fine when it's not full, but during the 4 hours I was there, it got busy and noisy. The construction of the building amplifies noise. The continual hubbub of trucks passing close by meant that even inside my friend and I often had to talk loudly to be heard. I had quite a sore throat after 4 hours of that, so not really a relaxing atmosphere. Dining on the pavement would've made conversation all but impossible I think. None of the tables in the courtyard had sun umbrellas. I like to eat outdoors sometimes, but being blitzed by the sun is a non starter, especially in summer. I felt the decor was a bit haphazard and a little campy. If that was deliberate, then, it worked brilliantly.

A bit disappointing, only went after reading good reviews. Advertised as a restaurant but there are white plastic chairs and tables inside with the toilet outside in the courtyard. However, the staff were lovely and very attentive. The food was nice, we had the creamy mushrooms on toast and pancakes, although they were a bit overpriced compared to equivalent options across the road.

It's a great place don't know what those rubbish low stars is about. Service is super, Staff awesome, food delicious, coffee exceptionally good, price is worth the food you eat & it's reasonable. Always my go-to place whenever I stop by for a visit. Highly recommend.

Thank goodness we found you! After stopping at two cafes along the road, neither of which catered for special dietary requirements, we found this gem! Had semolina coated salt and pepper squid and prawns on a generous pile of salad and lovely pot of tea. The staff were friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!

Best eggs benedict I have had since I can remember! Bacon lovely and crispy. Eggs cooked perfectly. The hollandaise with croissant molds it all together. My coffee was delicious too. Highly recommend this place if you are passing through

Had a lovely lemon and poppy seed cake was huge. Coffee was great. Will be back for a meal next time we up that way. Very good service and nice young staff. Keep up the good work.

My partners chicken burgers was out of this world amazing and both the portions of her meal and my steak were very generous. The quality of steak was wonderful, though lacking slightly in flavour, and we both enjoyed the farm to table approach evident in the in-season vegetables. The strange part was that it didn't seem to matter who you were, or how polite or friendly you were, the staff were incredibly reluctant to so much as crack a smile with the customers or one another. Would return for the food, though if you want a happy New Zealand customer service experience it wouldn't be your first choice.

The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was good, however when I tried to sit in the outdoor seating area there were a few issues with seating and the rather problematic placement of a speaker. However, the food was very nicely presented and tasted good, even though I felt that more time was spent on presentation than quality. Despite my minor gripes I would visit again, because it was a good enough experience, minor hitches aside, for me to be interested in trying more of their food options. The menu looked quite appealing.

Whilst I enjoyed the food I had there was slightly limited choice from the cabinet for savoury tastebuds today. One could order from the menu if you wished. Coffee was great and the service awesome

Wife and I went here with our son and daughter in law for breakfast. Oh man it was great, I had the waffles with bacon, banana, and maple syrup. Son had pancakes with bacon, banana, peanut butter sauce. Wife and daughter in law had eggs benedict. Portions are of a good size, and very tasty. Staff are friendly and cheerful, especially Stacey.

Best Coffee in Dannevirke! I have frequented a few places and found the coffee at the Forge on Main St to be the best. Fast service, lovely well mannered staff. The coffee is great and an excellent well thought out selection of food is on offer. Needless to say once I discovered this place I have returned several times!
