Have had a delivery from this place a few times now. Spot on every time. Our chana Masala, Kadhai chicken, samosas and naans were yummy as. Very friendly, prompt service with delicious offerings. Thanks team Ordered a delivery after some below par meals delivered last time that we complained about through text message. Nothing happened. We tried them again and got another batch of sugar loaded curries. It's a shame that this place like a few others have completely bastardised recipes loaded with color cream.and sugar to please western.palates. This is no Indian food. Our highly priced $7 cheese Naan was black at the back with very little cheese Felt cheated again, sorry to say.

I’m just home from eating at Black Pepper with friends. The food is one of the best Indian meals I’ve tasted. 2 had medium 2 mild & perfect, tasty & great service. We had the Tandoori mushrooms for starters & I’ve never tasted anything so delicious. I highly recommend this place. It was very quiet for a Friday night, come on Mosgiel come out & support your local restaurant.

Amazing local restaurant owned by a local family here in Mosgiel. The food is of incredibly high quality and the serving sizes are very good, enough to satisfy even a hungry person. It is the best value meal in Dunedin at lunch time, both eat in and takeaway and has nice comfortable seating and is very clean. Dining in is friendly and private even when busy and the takeaway service is quick with a meal taking no longer than 15-20 minutes depending on what you order. This is a must stop even if you are just travelling through Mosgiel or if you are wanting to go out to a restaurant for a meal. The waiting staff and the kitchen staff are the owners because it really is an original family owned business.

Please note this is my PERSONAL experience after ONE visit, none of this should be taken as gospel. It was okay. The chicken was a bit rubbery and the naans were really oily. I suppose I could have specified for crispy naans. Be careful with the spice, when they say hot they mean white people hot, I would recommend asking for extra if you're a fan of heat. The sauce has a nice flavor also.

Lunch special... Superb value and food We are lovers of Indian food and we could not believe our luck stumbling onto this gem in Mosgiel. What’s even better is that they have the most amazing lunch special (a veritable feast) for $10. This is the best deal we’ve found in several months of searching in both Dunedin and Mosgiel - $10 goes nowhere in these parts (in fact prices are so off-planet we’ve almost given up eating out). Highly recommend you bring your dosh out to Black Pepper and really enjoy yourself for the money, we certainly did. The lunch special consists of an excellent selection of crowd-pleasing mains (rogan josh, butter chicken etc) accompanied by fresh naan bread and steamed rice (both good sized servings). The service was splendid - fast and friendly staff. We were very impressed that our wait-staff came out at a sensible time after the food was served to check if everything was OK - it’s a nice touch. We were asked if we wanted our food Mild/Medium/Hot - we ordered the Rogan Josh ‘hot’ and the butter chicken ‘medium’ - both were very flavoursome and enjoyable - but if you like hot/spicy food or have been to India, be aware they are catering for local palates and you might need to ask for ‘very hot’. We definitely enjoyed the food and it’s not a criticism - just something to be aware of when ordering. The ambience is pleasant enough - spotlessly clean and tidy, comfortable dining chairs, quality cutlery. There was Indian music in the background and thankfully no TV. Highly recommend it for a group lunch - easy to sort the bill at the end - or just a relaxed couples lunch as we did. Drinks were also reasonably priced. The biggest recommendation is ‘would we return’? - would we ever!

This is the closest taste you can get of the authentic North Indian cuisine in/near Dunedin. It's an half hour drive from CBD Dunedin and a 54 min bus ride. But, its worth it.

We were recommended Black Pepper by a close family friend and they were not wrong. The food was really good and I especially enjoyed the lamb rogan josh ... it was one of the best I've ever had. Thoroughly recommend.

Great meal here in mosgiel with friendly staff. Our kids are messy eaters and dropped food on the floor but staff weren't fazed. Nice atmosphere too.

We came on the friday night not sure how the food would be as the place seemed absolutely quiet. But must be fate the food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely come back. Good chefs!

Best indian food in mosgiel, possibly the best in dunedin? ok so service can be slow, we waited a fair while for our meals, but the quality of the food is just so damn good, the mater paneer is amazeing, my new go to vegetarian meal! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
