Wow, such an awesome and delightful place to dine in. The food is absolutely delicious and flavourful. And the lemon cheesecake was fabulous. Staff were superb and friendly. 😊Gaslight is by far one of the best places I've been to. Definitely will have to revisit sometime in the future🤓🥳😋

Excellent food and a great atmosphere. The menu isn't big, but what they do offer was done to perfection! Service was great aswell.

Went here with family for dinner, wanted to try somewhere different and having browsed the menu online decided to go here. I thought the place was really nice, has an old style theme going with some nice displays of old equipment (cameras, radio etc) and some nice old photos. As for the food everyone really enjoyed their meals was the perfect amount so you left full but not bloated. At least the night we went even though there were a few people here it was not noisy so made it easy to to hear what each other said without having to raise your voice. Would be a good place to have an intimate dinner.

We had a party of five & ordered four different meals. All meals were absolutely top notch. Surroundings were lovely. Restaurant was warm. Staff wonderful. Would definitely recommend Gaslight Restaurant. We will return.

The very nice restaurant to have a romantic dinner! The entree was excellent and the Boeuf was succulent. They have an excellent wine list. The service was outstanding. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been here twice now, both have been great experiences. The lady with short hair, I assume the manager is so nice, polite, and always makes sure everything is perfect without it feeling like you are being hassled. Great atmosphere. Always clean and tidy. Bathrooms are nice. Food has always been to a high standard as well. Very rich but lovely. Will definately be returning in the future

Friendly service, and quite fast considering how busy they were. We were advised as soon as we walked in that another staff member was on the way and they would do the best they could to attend to our table as soon as possible. The food and atmosphere was really nice, and the dessert was AMAZING!! Highly recommend the chocolate croissant.

I popped in for a meal on my own and was not disappointed. Charming restaurant which is nice and central with very fresh pasta and sauce. The Beef Ragu was melt in your mouth and I will be back next time I am in Dunedin. A wonderful meal with perfect service. I would like to try a French dish as well. Thank you Gaslight. Great little place to enjoy some good food. Lovely atmosphere, I'd take friends or family there again. Huge portion of pasta tho. Both myself & my mum-in-law couldn't finish our meals even tho they were tasty.

Good meals and service. Nice atmosphere for a pleasant evening out with friends. Pricing is reasonable and the host eager friendly and eager to please. Just need to be mindful and book ahead as it is popular so you will not be disappointed. You can walk off the street and try your luck depending on the time of day.

Wonderful atmosphere. I went on my boyfriend's birthday and asked the waitress to bring a pudding out at the end. She was on board, so incredibly friendly and he loved the surprise. The prices are high but I think the food is worth it. I recommend the orange liqueur choc pot flambe as there is nothing cooler than a pudding on fire, and it tastes divine.

Great food and excellent customer service, had the seafood risotto and stole some of my partners gnocchi, both of which were delicious. They didnt have their signature dessert available, so I will have to come back and try it. Many thanks to the owner/manager who looked after us so well tonight.

Fantastic food, think the serving sizes were larger last time I went, but overall a great place to dine. Just had to update my review, i have been here a few times now, and i always get the mushroom gnocci, a star dish that i always order, the last time i went here it was much smaller but still good, but lastnight when i ordered this dish, it was well...terrible, nothing like it used to be, heavy chewy little potatoe bullets, lacking sauce and flavour, so sad, all three of us that ordered it had to send it back, i thank the server for replacing our meals with a fantastic cabonara, and as he explained they have a new chef, so we truely didnt want to offend, everybody else enjoyed their meals, so thank you! Just sad to see gaslights standards seem to have slipped over the years.

Lovely place; relaxed, warm atmosphere, very friendly helpful staff. Easy parking on the street. Food was delicious, the duck was very tender and the plum sauce went well. The chocolate mousse with contreau was divine. Not too expensive and worth the food. Would definitely go back.

Mediocrity - that was the whole experience. Food is uninspired but filling. Decor is dated and not particularly memorable. Place was full and possibly popular with students. However, if you’re seeking something special, avoid it. If you are hungry, go here. The waitress was nice as ordered by the owner. She was likely working to Policy. I won’t be returning.

We were shown to a comfy couch where we waited a couple of minutes for a table to be prepared for us. We ordered two vegetarian fettuccine dishes and garlic bread. All arrived promptly and were delicious. Tiramisu topped off a lovely evening.

Superb food. Had bread and dips to share. Huge but delicious, pesto, mushroom.butternut squash and tomato, we had to ask! Mains of Duck and Salmon perfectly cooked and presented. If you love good food this place is a must.

We just loved this little restaurant, it felt warm and welcoming. Several dishes stood out for both of us, I opted for Fried Gnocchi, Funghi Fume, and my wife had Roman Carbonara. We both agreed that our dishes were sublime, we wanted them to last longer. The staff were very friendly, and we just loved the decor too.

Had dinner for a friends birthday and found the food to be amazing. Had the duck and when requesting a nice wine to match with the meal was offered a very nice white wine. The staff were friendly and the place was cozy & inviting. Will be going again.

The wine menu is great, the service is great, the ambience is exactly what the name suggests, and my pork belly main was a solid 10/10. This is the sort of place you could propose to someone. I’m in love with it!

Nice place, good indoor ambience. And decent, but rushed service. Be warned, you have to like garlic. A LOT of garlic. WHOLE garlic. Fettuccine pasta was lovely. The fried gnocci tasted like lumpy mash potato though and I wouldn't order it again.

We used to really love Gaslight but the new owners have changed the wine list dramatically and the meals are also different. What a shame to change a winning formula. My husband always had the beef ragut and it was such and meaty. Tonight it was tomato based and much smaller. :-( My meal was also not to the old standard and the dessert was different too. Same menu items but different recipes.

I had beef for the main and my companion had pork belly. Both was cooked perfectly. Good portion too. We were both happy with our choices.

I love this place, have been there twice now and will definitely go again. The food is always delicious, the staff are really friendly. I think the price was pretty decent for the quality of the food, (I had pork (Porc Ravages) with hasselback? potatoes both times, the jus is also very nice). You MUST try the chocolate croissant dessert, it is amazing!

Fantastic decor inside - it's an old brick building with furnishings in a 'film noir' theme and it looks great. Wine selection includes many NZ options and a few french/italian ones too, plus they have Moa beers/ciders so everyone's happy. We had carbonara and pork steak. Carbonara had plenty of bacon in it, pasta was perfect - a nice 'meaty' al dente consistency. Was lacking in pepper though (where the 'carbon' in carbonara comes from) but there was a pepper grinder on the table so that's all good. S.O enjoyed her pork steak too, cooked just right, very tasty, although I thought that for the price, more could have been done with the accompaniments. We also had dessert and let me tell you, the chocolate custard croissant pudding is TO DIE FOR. Absolutely amazing. I woke up the today thinking about it. We also had Tiramisu which was OK, a bit too dry, could have done with more marscapone to offset all the sponge. Rather than layers of marscapone between each layer of sponge it seemed there was only a layer of marscapone on top, so it fell a little flat.

I am a Celiac and there were good GF options. We had Rouge salad for entree and it was the best salad I have ever eaten! Main however was the fish of the day which was smothered in a very strong vinagerette and the potato rosti was dry and very strange. Followed by a burned creme brule for desert. I would try this resturant again but maybe skip desert and a different main.
