Amazing cheese rolls and their soups and toasted sandwiches looked just as fab.

Just got done eating here. Amazing Mac and Cheese with Bacon sandwich! I still need to try the Cheese Roll but I’m totally full. It’s award winning though apparently. They have some cool comics to read if you want. They also have internet, just ask for the code.

An absolute gem we stumbled upon in Dunedin. The buttered steaming fresh bread and the potato and leak soup were absolutely lovely. Sandwiches looked great though I didn’t have any.

Phwarrr what a place. Affordable toastie heaven. Could do with more seating but no real complaints because the toasties here are next level.

Fabulous cheese toasties, bat out of hell was great. Would have been five stars if they had coffee.

This is one of the best sandwich I ever tried. The staff was lovely and Romeo- the owner- was friendly too. I’m gonna comeback and try cheese rolls 😇

The best toasted sandwich I have ever had. Had the vegetarian fun guy and it was so good. Returned for another the next day with the lads to help cure a hangover. The lads had the philly cheese and the Hawaiian. Everyone was very impressed with their toasties. Highly recommend this place.

Delicious food, I’ve been many times and it’s always amazing. Just don’t have any big plans afterwards if you get a full size, you’ll be in a food coma because it’s too good to stop eating. Also a big fan of the soups

We order Mac & cheese, The Funguy and 2 soup of the day - Lentils & Coconut Dhal and Peas & Ham. Very delicious

Since opening, the toasties here have been the best and most enjoyable fast food for taste and yumminess. I have just had the pulled carrot half sandwich for 7.50. Taste sensation! and healthy with crunch in the freshness of the specially baked bread. No wonder Hobo's won best toasted sandwich in NZ.

Haven’t been in a while but thought my review of Hungry Hobos was well overdue! I’ll start off by mentioning the soup - don’t pass on the soup!! They have two delicious soups of the day, usually a vegan option included. The mushroom soup from here is the best I’ve ever had in my life. Seriously. You need to have the mushroom soup from here! The Reuben toastie is my absolute favourite, followed closely by the Mac and cheese with bacon. Absolutely delicious food and the service is second to none.

Tool me a while to finally get around to going, kept going on a Monday and they're closed abs kept forgetting that lol. Anyway it was worth the wait, bit expensive but worth it. Cheese toasty was very delicious and filling and only had a half. Didn't try the soup but hear nothing but good things so it's on my to do list. I'll be back, not Monday thou 😉

Such good toasted sandwiches! If you're in Dunedin make sure you get something from here! I Found it incredible that vegan options don't even cost more!

Hungry Hobos had their 'Creamy field Mushroom Soup' recipe in a magazine in August 2019. Yesterday we made this recipe and my husband and I believe it is the best mushroom recipe ever. Look forward to coming to the Sth Island to check out more of your fabulous food!

Best toasted sandwich I’ve ever had. I’m a self proclaimed burger fan, and these sandwiches compete with the best burgers I’ve had. Great little find in the heart of Dunedin. Made our stay that much more delicious. We were here for 5 days, and had Hungry Hobos 3/5 (only because it was closed on Tuesday sadly).

Best. Cheese. Toasties. Ever. Do yourself a favour and get in on the action. 10/10 will return.

It was good but for me it had to much parsley in my sandwich so I'm gunna try it with out parsley I'm sure I'll 5 star after.

Love this place! Absolutely delicious sandwiches and mouthwateringly good soups all prepared in-house. Try a half or full sandwich which will seriously fill you up. Top quality ingredients, incredible flavours, superb presentation. Simply the best in Dunedin and absolutely world class. Once you have tried it you'll keep coming back. Kudos to Romeo and staff for creating this little gem.

Probably the best fast food place in Central Dunedin. They focus on two things (gourmet toasted sandwiches and soup) and they do it VERY well. They also do incredibly good cheese rolls. Highly recommended.

The food is fantastic. I went 3 times during my visit to Dunedin. I had two of the soups and two sandwiches and everything had a great combination of subtle flavours. Friendly staff, lovely clean surroundings and some enjoyable quirky artworks.

Fantastic small restaurant with a modern minimalist atmosphere. Excellent food, my favourite being the macaroni cheese and bacon sandwich. Preparation is always quick but the result is still a well-crafted and filling meal with an amazing flavour. I don't see myself going anywhere else for lunch in Dunedin in the future. 10/10

I absolutely love this place. Love as in I went 3 time in 3 days kinda love! You have to try the Mac and Cheese w Beacon toasty with some beef jus to dip in... Heavenly!

They sell soups and toasted sandwiches. The sandwiches such as the Reuben and the Philly Cheese steak are not exactly what you would expect if you've had a Reuben or a Philly cheesesteak in the USA, but they were taste and filling and well worth the price. The soup/half a sandwich and a drink special is good value.

Eat here almost every day for lunch. I've only ever order their soups, however, have heard their sandwiches are delicious also! Love their food! Fast and friendly service at a good price.

There was an open rubbish bin spilling out onto the floor when we went there. Also even though there was only one other table seated we had to clean our table off ourselves with a napkin. The guy who took our order looked bored. I was pretty disappointed because I've been excited to go for months! The sandwiches were alright. I had a vegetarian one which was bland, but my friend said his one was delicious. I'd advise you get takeaway if you order them.

Unreal food in the city. Lovely place to chill out and eat some good food for the soul. Guy who runs it is a gent. I got the ham n cheese and a garlic and cheese roll with some gravy dip. Tasty food and ill be back

I’d heard great things about Hungry Hobos but live in Hamilton. I was lucky enough to be in Dunedin recently and stopped in. I ordered the Reuben and it was honestly the best sandwich (hot or cold) that I have ever eaten. Regardless of wether you’re after a quick feed or something more refined, Hungry Hobos gourmet sandwiches and soups will satisfy your needs. Premium and healthy produce will satisfy your cravings while you feel like you’re indulging.

It is nice and it changes, good to warm up in winter. There is a decent choices of subs to choose from, the soup are goods, the garlic croutons are really goods. Soup alone is a good value, but the combo price is not really interesting.

The toasties were really good! You won’t be disappointed! The owner Romeo is really friendly and he told us where to see Penguins, we went to the location and spotted a Yellow-eyed penguin, the rarest penguin in the world!! Thank you Romeo :)

Tasty AF, good value for money, great options for meat lovers and veges alike, nice change from burgers and slop in a tray, dunno what cheese they use but it's stringy and F word delicious, recommended getting the warm Jus to dip in .. Ugh I'm hungry just thinking about it ..

Been here twice now and it is fantastic! I really recommend getting jus on the side, takes the sandwich to the next level! Still to try a soup but have been told it is good.
