My husband and I had dinner here and the food was amazing! The coffee was great too and the waitress was lovely. We would thoroughly recommend!

Me and my partner saw this place open in Owaka looking for somewhere to eat and were very pleasantly surprised. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and seated. The lovely waitress was quick to take our drink orders inform us of specials and bring us water. We both ordered the lumberjack burger. I have dietary requirements and forgot to mention them ordering the food, we quickly realised and informed the waitress who was very quick to correct it and give me alternatives without changing the meal. Very impressed. The food arrived quickly and was delicious, we even ordered dessert and we never do. The dairy free brûlée was very tasty and hit the spot. Would absolutely recommend stopping here for a bite to eat!

Awesome food and service. The main menu is minamilistic but the saying would be do what you have really well which it was. Steak, salad & potato gratin and rack of lamb, roast pumpkin, beetroot with feta and potato gratin. Local beers to sample from Catlin breweries a micro brewery. So tasty.

Beautiful place! When you walk in your greeted by a lovely server and a huge brick fire which creates a warm atmosphere, we only ordered coffees and I quick drink of tequila and juice but would definitely come back for a meal based on the customer service and setting

On a rainy day in Kaka Point we ventured out to Owaka and stumbled upon this place for lunch. The food and service were so good that we booked for dinner. The food is wonderfully cooked and presented. The only disappointment was that the following day (Tuesday) they were closed otherwise we would have returned!

What a find! The food is as good as any 5 star restaurant in Auckland. The chef is truly talented and the service impeccable. We're a gluten free family and they looked after us with ease. Highly recommend this place for outstanding food and service. Will definitely return.

Hungry in Owaka? We passed through and stopped here for lunch and it was superb! We had the Lumberjack burger and fish and chips. The burger had mouthwatering beef that tasted like slow cooked beef cheek? With homemade relishes - so yum! If you don’t have to go gluten free the burgers usually come with a home baked brioche bun which looked so fluffy and yum! The fish (blue cod) was cooked absolutely perfectly too, just melted in your mouth. We loved it here and our waitress was lovely! These are simple meals, but the small touches make them amazing. Will be coming back!

Good food and efficient service. Cosy atmosphere, for such a big dining room. In a main centre this place would have triple the tables, so the extra space is really nice. Try the salmon page if it's on, even if you don't like salmon, like me. It was delicious. Buy some Lions mints for a dollar.

This place is a treasure. We have been here a few times over the past few years when we have visited Owaka and the husband and wife team that run it are amazing. The food is fresh and exciting. Deserts made from scratch, coffee is expert and the hosting is so warm and personal I highly recommend coming here if you are in the area.

These guys are simply amazing. They're friendly and amenable. The place is clean and gorgeous. And, if possible, they'll effortlessly adjust menu items to make them free from dairy, gluten, animal products, or anything else you might want or need. Will definitely be returning.

What a gem, nice dinner with friends. My partner and I had a shared entrée - salmon pate & roast pumpkin - beetroot salad with chevree. As a main we had the Lumberjack burger with pulled beef, absolutely fabulous, very yummy. Definitely coming back!

Excellent service, great food. Staff were friendly and very attentive. For a family with 4 kids the attention given to the kids enjoyment was a fantastic extra service that made us all feel wanted as patrons. Would highly recommend and will visit again.

Amazing restaurant! Little gem of high quality delicious food in a causal yet comfortable atmosphere. Camping nearby and wanted a nice little meal. Found on google and didn’t know what to expect- the food exceeded our expectations and service was wonderful! We got the salmon, burger, and prawn/chorizo salad - each was equally as amazing! Had an impressive wine selection as well. Just ordered dessert and very much looking forward to it! Will look forward to returning on our next trip to the Catlins.

Enjoyed a lovely meal at the Lumber Jack restaurant when travelling around New Zealand in December. I had the cod and my wife had the corn fritters -both were delicious! The service and friendliness of the staff made it a very enjoyable evening. Wished we lived nearer as would definitely want to return 😊

Thought it was over priced $$$ maybe we were spoilt when Janice & Darrell had it.. $40 for steak or salmon. Not big meals. We like to support local but not at that price sorry.

Unexpectedly awesome spot. Service. excellent. They weren't really open but let us in for coffee anyway. Surroundings beautifully done in a rustic style. The fireplace is huge and the fire burning bright. Coffee is good even though the real batista is out. Might return later to see if his coffee is even better.
