J.Service was fantastic, we were promptly greeted and seated. Menu had a few missing options for drinks but the wait staff were fantastic when asked about additional dairy free milks (soy was the only option listed). Selection was good, not too much, not too little. Food came out very fast and was spot on. Couldn't fault the food, will definitely revisit.

R.I really enjoyed Ombrellos. I got the Ombrellos big breakfast (picture 1), which was very filling. It was well cooked and the sauce on the potatoes was a good choice- light and spicy, but not overpowering. The bread was very nice as well.
The coffee was a bit cold when it came out, however, and a bit underwhelming and lacking in flavour, unfortunately. However, it was a nice experience overall. Kid friendly and nice staff.
A.The food was alright, service was terrible. Didnt get our table cleared at all, and we were there chatting for a very long time after our meals. No soda water, and served a shot of whisky (that we wanted with soda water) in a beer glass..... pork belly was tough and dry, pulled pork tacos were also dry, polenta chips were nice. Platter looked great. Slaw is the main ingredient to accompany alot of the food.
L.. this is the place to go, if you're looking for good craft beers in Dunedin. The menu is interesting and the atmosphere is fun with groups of all ages enjoying celebrating with friends and family.The real deal with a good range of authentic craft beers and staff who know their stuff. Food was delicious, with a friendly fun atmosphere although hubby's serving of risotto was rather small. You just feel welcome and looked after.
R.We took friends of ours out for dinner to Ombrellos as a treat and we weren't disappointed. It was a lovely evening the food was great. Our waiter was very friendly and even went an asked the chef how he did his turmeric cauliflower which were really yummy. Not that he gave away his secret. Thanks for making it such an enjoyable night.

R.Great beer selection but can be variable in quality at times, that said there is always something great on tap. They probably have the best bar snacks in Dunedin, and the staff and atmosphere are awesome. Great place to sit inside or outside in all weather conditions. This is a great place to go to whether you are just looking for a pint, or snacks, or want a larger meal for lunch or dinner.
T.A restaurant is popular usually due to either it’s food or it’s service staff. Ombrellos Kitchen & Bar has both! We ordered Spicy Beef Salad, Crumbled fish of the day, kids steak and chicken burger. All were awesome. The service staff were so welcoming of us and were very attentive to detail, offering a cushion for my mother-in-law who is in her late 70’s. I would recommend this restaurant any day. Simply lovely!

c.We had mushroom risotto, pasta de ajo, and ombrellos burger. The burger was big enough for two. All had a twist of spanish taste. Food was a bit pricey for it's quality.
J.Great service. Had my graduation dinner there and didn't think about getting kids menu sorted. They adjusted on the night and offered a refund for the difference. Took it in vouchers given the great service, friendly staff and delicious food. Great beer range too. Highly recommended

A.food and beer are great! I like how they accept the Otago Postgraduate Association membership card and give us discounts. I also like how the chefs are accomodating (ie make "naked" chicken shanks/wings).

Came in early November, then again tonight.
Real busy then and now, but just excellent service from very nice and friendly staff.
E.Excellent atmosphere. Tasty food, albeit my burger was a bit dry and overdone. Nice selection of beer and soft drinks. They make their own tomato sauce, love it!
L.I booked an area for a couple of hours for my 50th birthday (we were doing a pub crawl theme and ombellos was the second last bar) and they were GREAT, so hospitable and I know we were a little rowdy but they let us be and took it in their stride. So I would like to say THANK YOU so much Ombrellos and I would totally recommend your bar and fabulous staff to anyone thinking about booking an event. 👍🥂🍻
S.Went with a group. Some of the meals looked fabulous although small portions. Service was friendly and fast. I definitely would NOT recommend the smoothies, sub standard quality, couldn't taste any real fruit, it's like they just added some yucky syrup to milk, the smoothie was what I would expect from a cheap dairy not a restaurant. D.I recently went here for a few drinks after work. The environment was lovely with a fire roaring in the courtyard and the beverages were of good quality. It was nice to have some live music to round things off but it did disrupt the conversation with the volume.
S.Went here before a game at the Forsyth Barr stadium. They gave us a seat in the bar and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The menu only had about 5 dishes but this was a good thing. We had lamb and fish and both were exceptional. They had a fantastic range of beers on tap as well. All in all a great way to spend a whole evening or grab a spot of dinner before the game.
J.I met up with friends for a late lunch. The menu is interesting and the atmosphere is fun with groups of all ages enjoying celebrating with friends and family.
You just feel welcome and looked after. The internal courtyard is warm and comfortable and is complimented with two intimate inside dinning areas to choose from.

C.After a bit of confusion we were shown to our table in a nice wee private room, the layout of the restaurant is really cool, and a Lil quirky.
I wasn't impressed with the wait staff....the guy that took drink and meal orders sat down to take the orders, it was actually unprofessional and uncomfortable, and he was trying too hard to be funny, his humour fell flat with the whole table, other staff just looked like they didn't want to be there.
Also rowdy drunk people were a bit annoying, at one point a drunk girl burst in to the room, and abruptly left again but sat outside waving thru the windows at us, thank god they didn't hang around for long.
On the positive side, food was great, massive servings, get the polenta fries, pork belly from the bar menu looked amazing too, salmon was perfectly cooked, too many potatoes tho!
Cheesecake was good.
For all the negatives, I would definitely come back, the food is great, atmosphere is fantastic.

M.Food was decent. Front of house staff stood around and did nothing and took a while to do anything despite the fact that we were the only customers.
H.We loved the sheltered courtyard on a day with a chilly breeze + the tables are actually big enough to have plates, coffee cups and more on (amazing now-a-days!)
And the breakfast menu was AMAZING - with satisfying portions. I ordered the Benedict - came on potatoes and spinach Rosti = so much yummiest than bread!
S.Good food, good service. A tad too much salt for my liking. For example, with the spring rolls I got, there was salt sprinkled on top quite generously which might suit some but maybe tell the waiter to ask kitchen staff to not do this if you're watching out for salt intake. Still, pretty tasty food. The roti bread and curry sauce were rather good!

C.Definitely a great place to unwind after lab work and whatever uni related work considering the proximity. Drink selections are plentiful, ambience is great, and the outdoor area is perfect as well for smokers. Looks like a possible go to place for after school!

c.If you live out of Dunedin and want to host a 21st in Dunedin, this is the place to do it..
We live in Brisbane and found Dean incredibly easy to work with.. Prompt replies and he suggested things we hadn't thought of.. He made it so easy and showed no impatience when we were not as helpful as he is.
At the actual 21st party, the staff were amazing. They worked with us as if they knew us well.. I did not get their names, an should have as they were outstanding as far as providing a warm inviting arptmosphere went. It was better than having it in our own home.
We had it in one of the villas and if the weather was warmer, could have opened out into the courtyard..

F.Sunday 1 September we dined at Ombrellos. Jimsie had medium rare steak and I had the Venison dish less the Pear and Parsnip garnish. It was the best cooked and most tender Venison dish I have ever eaten. I had the big ombrellos vege dish and it was so filling! It came with everything I wanted. Hot chocolate was pretty tasty too. It was nice warm inside and the service was good.
A.Top quality food and the best range of tap beers in Dunedin. Big supporters of a range of Kiwi breweries and there's always something fresh. Great for a coffee, lunch and a beer, after work beers, or a full and fancy date night.
