After 30km of cycling it was great. And the best part, Founders IPA at $10 a pint. You have to be joking - good beer at a good price. Highly recommended.

Would highly recommend, food was really lovely and staff very welcoming and friendly... if we're ever in the area again, definitely go back.

Great food, great service. Such a great place in the sun. Our base on the Rail Trail. Good access to the surrounding attractions. Hayes Engineering, Golden Progress Mine, Naseby and St Bathans. Thanks Grahame for a great 4 days stay.

One of the most hospitable pubs I’ve ever encountered. On top of that the food is excellent and the hosts are fantastic going the extra mile.
Don’t go past it.

Graham you were a star! Thank you for a down to earth brunch and steak and ale pie this evening. Hot as day and you guys busy with locals and the rail trailers' like us - 👍☀️😎☀️

The food was the best thing about this tavern & Graham the host. The converted railway workers cottage is sweet with good water pressure but be warey about leaning on or pushing the wall of the shower as the rod & shower curtin will fall. The toilet cupboard is not legal I wld say due to there being no room to move or if u wanted to, close the door as u wld never get out or up fm the toilet. Also be aware that the single beds will swallow u up due to them being so very soft and you sink into them. Very uncomfortable & didn't get a good night''s sleep. But the place was dry warm & cute. If u don't see the faults then for one night it is fine.

Family enjoyed their meals. Was such nice service to be picked up from our accommodation nearby and be dropped back afterwards. Perfect if you're biking the rail trail and don't have your own car.

Superb...table by the fire, beautiful food, good wine, great unobtrusive service...AND a willingness to open up earlier on Monday morning to provide us with cheese rolls and coffee. What more can one ask?....hmmmm....let me think.....😄👍✔️ Clare and Joy

The kitchen was under the pump from all us rail trailers and they did a sterling job. These people really know how to cook. Delicious meals and reasonably priced wine. Our meals were inadvertently delayed and our kids were losing their marbles from hunger after a long day biking, but they couldn't have been more apologetic and went out of their way to make amends. Old school pub for the locals with old posters and jokes and sayings on the wall you just don't get to see any more because someone might take offence. I suspect at this pub if you don't like it no-one's saying you have to come back if you don't want. Plenty of entertainment right there, couldn't stop smiling.

An oasis on the Rail Trail. Recommend booking a room, so you can just walk 10 feet to the pub. You need to book via email, but worth it.
Great selection of beer and delicious steak and Guinness pie. 5 star hospitality really sets it apart.

Friendly, warm, heaps of outdoor and indoor toys for kids. Owners really make the place such a welcoming homely feel. Great food too.

Excellent meal, very good service. Must book ahead, as very popular

Delicious food, and they had so many games (pool etc) to keep us entertained. The Otago Rail Trail is just behind the pub. I'd have to say the greatest asset are the knowledgeable, welcoming owners, but the extensive children's playground adjacent to the outdoor dining also makes a great feature.

Great food, great beer, great wine. There were nice veggie options and the owners were great to chat to. Make sure you stop in if you're passing.

Cute owners who do a good job considering how busy it is in peak season! Nice touch was providing a birthday cake and getting the whole pub to sing, when it was one of our party's birthdays
