Velvet Burger is nice. I went here with a friend on a '241 Tuesday' promotion that they often run (On Tuesdays). The burgers are a suitable size at approx. 138mm in diameter. The ingredients tasted fresh and the patty tasted authentic. The price when on special makes these excellent value and I look forward to trying more on their menu. Though, I probably wouldn't get this burger at full price.

I’ve been a regular at velvet for years and years! Never had a bad experience with them and always left feeling satisfied :) however… the other night I dove into one of my favourites ‘The Big Brown’ fantastic burger with double beef and double cheese, I get two bites in and I can feel something solid in my mouth, I genuinely thought it was my tooth and freaked out a little, but was calm once I realised it was only a screw (Half of one) sorry to whoever has the other half of the screw I hope you were as lucky as me and noticed it :D I finished the burger (slowly) and it was really good. Mistakes happen and I thought I should probably bring this to Velvets attention because it was pretty serious, I’m not fussed though! Got offered a refund which was awesome! Hope the screw didn’t come out of something important :D

Just average really...my burger was decent, the kids burgers were a bit sloppy. Music is so loud I felt like I had to yell at the guy taking my order...inattentive staff had to be reminded to serve our drinks because they were more interested in talking to each other...I wouldn't rush back there.

Very tasty burger. Very friendly staffs. Well their phone often don’t work. So hard to make order over phone. Allow some time to get there and wait after placing order. Not bad environment inside. Very trendy.

I had my first Goneburger here last year and I could not forget the taste even in my dreams. Christchurch branch is just not doing as good as Dunedin's. I have had quite some burgers in the whole country, and I am confident to tell you that their Goneburger is definitely one of the best burgers in the whole NZ. Vegan? Try their Animal Rights, you will be amazed.

Famous burger store in Dunedin. Easy to locate. Beef burger is huge and the sauce is all over the burger. That was just too much for me. There are some tables in the basement. And some outdoor tables available in the balcony. Not easy to park, better park in outskirt and walk here. We didn’t wait too long to get served. Restroom is in the basement and quite clean. Not good for baby stroller.

Beautiful burgers. I especially like Tuesdays when you order on line you but one and get one for free. My go to is Big Bro which has a portobello mushrooms as one of the ingredients. If I am very hungry I get a gone burger, which is great eating. If I want to eat it delicately I split it in two, eat half a bun, the meat patty and bacon, then other half has a chicken fillet, tomato and lettuce. You can eat in or take out.

Good chicken burger, very filling. I got the Babe with skinny fries as the burger was recommended by the staff. Would go back again but might just do burger and a drink.

Good burger joint. We got the Friday special (any 2 burgers with fries). Good portion and value with my burger being the 'Big Bro' a take on the Kiwi burger. It was very good!! Great place right in the Octagon with a bar as well. The hot sauce was fire!!!

Best burger ever and always come back to here again and again, i have been to both Auckland and Christchurch branch’s and now i am here , only one thing I don’t like about this branch the order take a long time otherwise every thing great

The bun is bit cold and pickle tomato I found bit colder side and not on room temperature. The flavour of burger was taste bit dry first time for me of Velvet burger. This is the first time my experience to have Velvet burger is very average. The service is very good, quick and friendly. The fries were good.

Not the best experience from a velvet burger. Compared to Christchurch and Auckland it's a little disappointing. The pattie in my burger was burnt and the fries that seemed to had just been cooked felt as though they had been sitting in a bag for 20 minutes already. Underdone fries, overdone burger. Good substantial burgers, tried and tested, offer online ordering, if your ordering on a two for Tuesday deal then maybe order for 15min before you plan on picking up as they are often slammed.

Came in a few days ago for a tasty treat, and boy did velvet burger deliver! The food tasted fresh and the presentation was phenomenal. Even though there was only one person in the kitchen my food still came through relatively quickly. Shout out to Josh for fixing me up!

Orders tend to be a little late on Tuesdays, must be because they're swamped af while making sure the quality is still on point. Even though I've gotten my burgers 20mins or so late on many occasions (only on 241Tuesdays), I have never been disappointed with my meal. Always worth the wait. Ordered some burgers for dinner.The hamburger was huge. I love their fries and garlic aioli. Being able to order online just makes life easier. My husband had to wait though when he can to pick it up. It should be there just waiting for him to pick up. Parking isn't easy to find along Lower Stuart Street. I hope they refine their method .

I was there with a big group of people, like 13 guys, and we wait 15 minutes to have the burgers. Price is nice, and the service was very good and friendly. Thanks for this experience !❤

Super yummy burgers my new fave the luxe bird. 2 for 1 Tuesday definitely a huge saving for great burgers and cannot skip out on hot chips and must have aioli!! Nga mihi nui !!

I have tried both beef and chicken burgers, and both were awesome, with delicious dressing and optimum spice level. What was even more amazing was their 'veg burger' called 'animal rights'. The patty, I guess, was not frozen and was made fresh with kumara (sweet potato), clubbed with beet root and awesome dressing. This was, by far, one of the best veggie burgers I've ever tried. The one on George Street in Dunedin has limited sitting arrangement, but has a nice ambience (with good choice of music). The service was prompt and very nicely served. Very happy with the service and definitely going back!

Very tasty burgers and the sides are well worth the price as they are a good size. The burgers are a bit more expensive than your maccas ones but they are definitely worth it for the flavours and how filling they are

Mean feed, just go easy on the chips cause they give you quite alot, The burgers were really nice and a good size. Just ensure you have a few napkins on hand cause they're pretty saucy. Good times and good vibes

Honestly, this place makes the best burgers in Dunedin. Simply delicious, and such a great range for the menu (1st pic, credit to TripAdvisor). One big downfall is wait time though. You can end up waiting upwards of half an hour for a burger to go, even when there are hardly any customers. This means that, despite being in a perfect spot for employee lunches in town, it's not realistic to wait that long on one's lunch break.

Just the thought of Velvet burger right now is making me drool. Burgers are large, flavoursome and consistent. For a gourmet burger at a reasonable price I would highly recommend. Two-for-one Tuesday deal is brilliant. You'll never get better value burgers then with that deal.

Ever since the first velvet burger opened on George Street in 2006 they have been my favourite burger go to place. Their mini burgers are the size of a McDonald's burger and the usual size is almost double. Great ingredients and great mix of fast food take out and Cafe sort of feeling. Love it. 10/10 always.

Average at best. I'd finished my side before the burger arrived, and they managed to throw my aoili on the floor without even noticing. Wasn't even busy! Skinny fries were tasty but the burger was average

Food is really good! Highly recommend Gone burger - has crunchy fried chicken, bacon and beef. All cooked to perfection. The hot chilli sauce is good too. Staff are helpful too. Downside - order got mixed up and table not cleared.

Great atmosphere, food was amazing, really long wait on that day though, but we were warned which means it's not normal. They take takeaways and cash or card. It was just the wait - took a while.

Nice fries, friendly staff.... Burger was average, small amount of chicken, about half a rasher of streaky bacon in total, overkill on the sauce which just slopped out and 2 tiny raw onion rings, if there was cheese I never saw it.

We were on holiday here and in a bit of a rush to grab some lunch and leave, We sat down below, The Staff were professional and the food came out in a reasonable time, considering the amount of people inside. This is probably a personal preference with my taste buds but the chicken burger I had, was hands down the best burger I've ever eaten. If l'm ever in Dunedin again l'm coming straight back here for sure.

Said to be the best of Dunedin, well that means they don't have very good burgers in Dunedin. The meat wasn't very good, the texture was mushy. The taste in total was OK. But for that price you should get homemade patties

OMG the best veggie burger in all of New Zealand. It's called "Animal Rights." I had a decent share of veggie burgers on my trip, but this one by far surpassed the rest. My friend had a burger one night and a chicken burger another. Both were hits. We ordered the ever tasty "Native Kumara Chips" with some aioli sauce.The guy who was working the register was so kind. They are located in the heart of the octagon. You can order food for take-away rather than having to eat there. We did that so we could watch VHS movies back in our B&B place. Man I really wish they had a Velvet Burger in the States.

Service was excellent, craft beer appreciated, but the burger (I had the southern chicken one) didn't live up to the hype - had to add heaps of (thankfully provided) Kaitaia Fire to give it some flavour.

This is nice and good place in the middle of the city. There are a lot of good bars and 3D cinema theater is in few minutes. If you like king size burgers, so this is you should visit and taste it

Called and here but a burger boy was I impressed they are huge the ingredients is mouthwatering and the flavours a delicious is a lots to choose from yes they are pricey but it is money well spent I'm so glad I've discovered velvet burger

Overall cleanliness has declined since the last time I visited. Chicken needs a little longer and has dark burn Marks and carbon. Would bump it up to 5 stars if things improve.
